Bug Report; Mosquitoes and Black Flies are out in full force and horse flies are now added to the list. Good thing though, is the Dragon Flies are out there now also and when they get to eating, they clean a lot of them up, not forgetting the bats and birds. I always figure when them dragon flies start, the black flies days are numbered. They are nice to watch also and very friendly to us humans. So don’t be thinking they will harm you. Quiet day today, not much movement up and down the highway. All the travelers that were on the roads have made it to their destination and is resting up for the coming week, I suspect. Can’t say I rightly blame them neither. Yesterday I took our Giesler boat out with my lovely wife and have to say it sure was pretty out there. I didn’t get any fish though but did hook on one nice one. Didn’t have it hooked good enough I guess and as it flipped itself out of the water, it shook the hook right out of its mouth. If there is anyone that has ways of that not happening let me know, as have lost a lot of fish that way lately. Thinking my hook is to large or something that is on the lure I am using. Maybe get to changing that. At any rate, we had a great afternoon let me tell ya. Sunshine on ones back, calm water with s light breeze, taking in all the smells and surrounded by nothing but what nature has to offer. That is what life is all about. Well tea time here my friends so have a great day. Oh with the bug report, the Black Flies and Mosquito’s weren’t bad at all out there on the water yesterday.

Well other than a great looking day out there not much going on. Folks are busy at their cottages and I am sure more will be headed this way through out the day, being Friday. I was talking to a OPP Officer in Britt the other day and he said the Highways were hectic out there with accidents and folks speeding. You know….driving to fast doesn’t in reality get you to your destination any quicker. What it does do though, is put you, your family and others, in a greater risk bracket of not getting there at all, or becoming seariously hurt. When that happens no one wins my friends, so drive according to what is specified and drive safe. Bug report; Black fies and Mosquitoes still not to bad but they are out there. Did you know that Ford and Volkswagen are making cars right here in our country that gets you over 70 MPG, but not allowed to sell them here in our country. They are sold though in the UK and folks just love them. Amazing isn’t it. Here we are in Canada and the USA making these cars but can’t buy them. Why is this? Simple, as if they put these cars on the road here in Canada and the USA, they would loose billions of dollars, as folks wouldn’t use all that gas. Take a look at this video. when you get a second. Nothing much to report. Mowing day here for us at the Walters house, so will get that out of the way this morning. Sure looks pretty when all said and done. This year wife and I planted all the seeds we collected from last year and we got a regular little nursery going in the back porch, so all our veggies will be free this year. Name released in fatal collision

ARNSTEIN— A 67-year-old was killed Monday around 1 p.m. when her vehicle veered off Highway 522 at Seagull Lake Road and went into the ditch, according to Ontario Provincial Police. The collision caused the vehicle to flip. According to police, it’s suspected the driver may have been in medical distress at the time of the incident. The driver was identified as Arina Howes of Loring. A post mortem will be conducted later today. Members of the OPP’s Technical Collision Investigations and Forensic Identifications Units are continuing their investigation.

Well not to much to report other than it is one great looking day out there. The black flies are out there now, but if one approaches their day right, they shouldn’t have to deal with them pesky devils to much. First off one should not wear any bug repellent or smelly colognes. Also should say if you are used to using these things, which most are now a days, that it takes a good week to get it out of your system. Best way is to use baking soda to wash your hair with and if you have to have some soap use Ivory hand soap, with no additives in it. Do that an maybe eat a bit of garlic with your food each day and you won’t have any problems with Black Flies. All in how you want to deal with things, simple as that. Also would like to wish all those Mothers or Mothers to be out there the very best on this Mothers Day Weekend. Well the old black flies are officially back with us for another season. Should last for around three or four weeks if things goes to plan. Then again, Mother Nature has her own set of rules and being the lady she is, she changes her mind every so often.. So all we can do is take what she hands us, an smile. The mosquito’s are still holding off, but once it warms up, they will awaken and add their presence to our days through out the summer. The black flies are out there now, started yesterday,but still not really bothering a feller or gal, other than flying around ones head. But they will get hungry soon enough. I find the best way to help the situation is to not wear any perfume or deodorant, things like that. I only wash using ivory hand soap, with no additives. For some reason they don’t like it and I have had good luck keeping them at bay for a lot of years now. Deet, insect repellents. don’t work, if anything it attracts them and makes it worse.
