Good Morning Port Loring

Well the last day of April and most heating systems are still running away. Temperatures this morning were sitting at 2.5 C | 36.5 F Still a touch cool to be doing too much outside work. At least for me. Highway 522 is bare and dry so travelling will be good. We should see some sunshine today with some warmer temperatures, but they will be short-lived as it is going to get cool once again tonight and into tomorrow. We could see up to 1 inch (2.54 cm) of snow tomorrow. Let’s hope not. After tomorrow, things are supposed to get nicer. With that I am off for my morning coffee and will see what the day has in store. GW

Good Morning Port Loring

This morning we do have some sunshine, but clouds will move in as the day progresses with more rain in the forecast for part of the day and into tonight. Tomorrow we should see some warmer temperatures and sunshine, but then … we could see some rain or flurries and colder temperatures for Wednesday. After that, I think we are closing in on some warmer nicer weather. So not much we can do about it, other than persevere. Temperatures at the time of this post was 0.5 C | 32.9 F Highway 522 is bare and dry at the moment. Let’s hope this rain passes us by, and we keep the sunshine. With that I am off once again to put some wood in the wood furnace and will see what the day has in store for us. First though a cup of nice perked coffee with a touch of chicory is in order. Coffee isn’t at its best without chicory. Also, it is quite good for you. GW

Without Monday there would be no Friday.

Sunshine woke me up this morning which was nice for a change. We did see a bit of rain yesterday but nothing like they said we were going to get. Temperatures waking up was -1.4 C | 29.48 F Highway 522 is bare and dry. Great day to do some travelling or picking up some groceries in North Bay. It should warm up some by Tuesday. I have lots to do outside and in my shop but the weather being cold and damp staying inside is more tempting. Just because I can you might say. I love the outside but my body doesn’t like the cold or dampness, seems every year it gets a touch worse in that department. But not complaining, I get out of bed each morning and life is good and my days are full. I write for numerous newspapers across Canada and the USA so the not so good days I write up articles. Keeps the mind sharp. With that I am off to put some more wood in the furnace and will have a cup of coffee with my lovely wife. GW

Humour for a cloudy day

Now don’t get to thinking that I am a religious feller as I surely am not but now and then something catches my eye that holds my interest. In doing so thought I would share.

A priest offered a lift to a Nun. She got in and crossed her legs, forcing her gown to reveal a leg. The priest nearly had an accident. After controlling the car, he stealthily slid his hand up her leg. The nun said,” Father, remember Psalm 129?” The priest removed his hand. But, changing gears, he let his hand slide up her leg again. The nun once again said, “Father, remember Psalm 129?” The priest apologized “Sorry sister but the flesh is weak.” Arriving at the convent, the nun went on her way. On his arrival at the church, the priest rushed to look up Psalm 129. It said, “Go forth and seek, further up, you will find glory.”

Moral of the story: If you are not well informed in your job, you might miss a great opportunity.

Well once again, we wake up to snow. I was hoping we had seen the last of the white stuff. But I guess not. We didn’t get that much just a dusting, but still. Temperatures were sitting at -2.2 C | 28.04 F Actually quite cool. We could see a morning flurry; otherwise, a blend of sun and clouds; breezy and cool. Highway 522 is bare but wet. Travelling will be good but not a real nice day for going anywhere. It should improve as the day progresses. It will remain cool though for a couple days. So with that, I am off to start the wood furnace. I had a funny hunch that we might be getting some cooler weather, so I brought in a bit more wood yesterday. Glad I did now. Sometimes you got to go with your gut feelings. Although … over the years weather and me has had an understanding. Have a great day! GW

So much for Global Warming.

Rainy morning and we can expect more. Total rainfall amounts of 25 to 40 mm are forecast by the time the rain changes to snow during the overnight hours. Local amounts exceeding 50 mm are possible. That amount should get rid of the frost in the ground and ice on the lakes. Certain areas could see some flooding. Temperatures waking up were not too bad sitting at 7.6 C | 45.68 F Highway 522 is wet but travelling will be good for a while. With that I am off to have a cup of coffee and will see what the day has in store. It might pay to bring out that rain coat after its long winters nap. GW

Lots of clouds this morning, but we are supposed to have some sunshine later on. Temperatures were sitting at 3.7 C | 38.66 F Which was quite cool for this time of year. It will warm up later on. On the downside we will see cooler weather with more rain after today for a few days. So with that in mind I suppose I will bring in a wee bit more firewood to hold us over. No use burning oil if it isn’t necessary. Highway 522 is bare and dry this morning which should make travelling nice. I would think today would be a good day to head off to town for them groceries or ? Myself I am going to take it easy today. With that I am off to have my morning coffee and chat with my lovely wife. GW

Good Morning Port Loring Ontario Canada

Well cloudy day here this morning, but we are supposed to see some sunshine later on today, which would be nice. Temperatures were sitting at 2.6 C | 36.68 F A touch cool. Highway 522 is bare and dry which will make travelling good. The snow is pretty well all gone now, hoping I don’t see anymore till next year. With that I am off for my morning coffee and will let the day unfold around me. GW

Good Morning Port Loring Ontario Canada

It was sunny early this morning but then clouded up. Temperatures were sitting at 10.6 C | 51.08 F We will see some rain today and then tomorrow back to some sunshine. Temperatures will warm up a wee bit but not much more than they are at the time of this post. But it is a lot better than it has been. Highway 522 is bare which will make travelling good. On another note my lovely wife and I were away visiting our oldest Son in St. Catharines over the weekend. We had a great time. Being so far away we don’t get to see him that much. Traffic along the way was actually quite good. Rained all the way down with mostly sunshine on the way home. With that I am off to have my morning cup of coffee and will see what the day has planned. GW

Good Morning Port Loring Ontario Canada

Well no sunshine this morning. We had showers for most the night. The rain may fall heavily at times today, but there will likely be significant gaps in the precipitation from time to time as well. Some wet snow may mix in with the rain Friday over some areas as temperatures will likely be just above the freezing mark. Let’s hope it clears up some for those that are travelling tomorrow and over the weekend. Temperature this morning is 6.5 C | 43.7 F Highway 522 is bare but wet. Gloomy looking day, but we do need the rain which will help things green up. My wife and I did get our property cleaned up in two days and I have to say it sure looks nice. Winter can sure make a mess of things. Today I am going to take it easy. With that I am off for my morning coffee and will let the day unfold around me. GW

Good Morning Port Loring Ontario Canada

Another great looking day starting things off. The sun is shinning with temperatures warming up as I type. At the moment they are sitting at -1.5 C | 29.3 F But they will rise shortly. Highway 522 is bare and dry at the moment, so travelling will be good for most of the day. Then things change as rain will develop this evening or overnight and continue for the remainder of the work week. The heaviest rain is expected Thursday afternoon and evening. Eater weekend will be cloudy but if we are lucky we might see some sunshine on Monday. Today my wife and I will do some more cleaning up around the house. We had a great day outside yesterday. Even got in some front porch sitting with a cool drink. Which was nice for a change. Grass is starting to green up a wee bit too, but we still have some snow in certain areas. It should melt rapidly with these temperatures we are having and now with rain in the forecast. With that I am off for my breakfast and a cup of fresh perked coffee. I think pancakes with Maple Syrup is on the menu this morning. Mm, Good! GW

Good Morning Port Loring Ontario Canada

Lots of sunshine waking up this morning. Temperatures were sitting at -3.1 C | 26.42 F Quite cool but it is supposed to warm up as the day moves forward. Highway 522 is bare and dry which will make driving nice. So, if you have somethings to pick up in the big city of North Bay it’s a go. Myself I don’t need anything so home is where I will be. I am thinking I might clean up a bit around the house as after our winter it is a mess. We still have a bit of snow but it should melt within the next couple days as we are supposed to get some warmer temperatures. Then it is calling for some rain off and on Thursday and Friday. But the long weekend is looking nice in our area. With that I am off for some breakfast and a cup of coffee while we wait for it to warm up a bit. GW

Looks good to me.

Good Morning Port Loring Ontario Canada

Winters back. Waking up we were greeted with about 4 inches (10.16 cm) of the white stuff, and I don’t mean sand. It started around 5:00 PM last night and carried on through the night. Highway 522 is wet but bare as it is melting out there. I don’t suspect it will last long being the time of year. The snowfall warning has been ended for portions of Central Ontario, as snowfall amounts during the night were significantly less than first anticipated. Just the same I won’t be raking up leaves around the house that was left over from last Fall. Temperatures waking up were sitting at -1.1 C | 30.02 F So with that I am off to have a cup of coffee with my lovely wife and will let the day unfold around me. Great way to start the day. GW

Severe Weather Alerts – Port Loring, Ontario

Let’s hope this mess passes us by.

Significant late season snowfall today and tonight.
Snow is expected to move into portions of Central Ontario this afternoon. Total snowfall accumulations of 10 to 20 cm are likely by Monday morning.
The heaviest snow is generally expected in a swath of regions from the northern tip of the Bruce Peninsula towards Algonquin. Some areas immediately south of this swath may change over to rain for a period which would result in lesser snowfall accumulations.

There will also be a risk of freezing rain in some areas.

Tiger Woods Wins The 2019 Masters

Fantastic game this year at the Masters, and no one deserved to win more, than Tiger Woods. Congratulations Tiger!

Good Afternoon

Well cloudy day here once again. But on the good side it isn’t that cold and the snow is melting rapidly. I would say it is about 90% gone. They are calling for some showers later on today which would help out things even more. Highway 522 is bare and dry at the moment. Temperatures are sitting at 3.1 C | 37.58 F On another note the Masters Tournament has been moved up, it started at 9:00 AM this morning as there is a storm in the area. This way the players have a good chance of finishing the final round. At the moment it is any ones game, as all players are playing some excellent golf. Great game one of the best I have seen. GW

Good Morning Port Loring Ontario Canada

Another cloudy morning. Temperatures are warming up sitting at 3.2 C | 37.76 F Today we will see much of the same. But the good news is the snow is rapidly melting. I actually can see my front lawn again. Highway 522 is bare and dry this morning which will make travelling good. We did have rain for most of the day yesterday which also helped in getting rid of the snow.

On another note, those that would like to watch the 2019 Masters Tournament will be able to do so on a few of our Canadian Television Stations, later on this afternoon and tomorrow. The leader board after yesterday, was!

Take note of our Canadian player Corey Conners. He will be a fellow to watch in the coming years. His position right now at the Masters is fantastic if you figure who he is up against. It is also great to see Tiger Woods making a come back after a few bad years.

The Masters, Corey Conners

For us in Canad when watching the Masters, keep an eye on Corey Conners. Canada as far as I am concerned doesn’t give enough credit to their Golfers. Mike Weir was a good Golfer, but there is one fellow that is much better. That is Corey Conners. At the moment he is at -3, which is fantastic. He is the fellow to keep an eye on. I think he is going to be one of the best Golfers to come down the tubes in a long, long time.

Good Morning Port Loring Ontario

Cloudy morning waking up. Climbing out of bed temperatures were sitting at 4.4 C | 39.92 F Today’s Forecast is calling for a mixed bag of weather. We might even see, or should say hear some thunder above us. Highway 522 is bare and dry at the moment. It at least feels warmer out there when I went outside to feed the birds. The snow is about 80% gone and with these warmer temperatures and rain it won’t last long. I did hear a die hard snowmobiler last night going through the bush. Not that much snow out there so it can’t be doing the machine any good. Oh well, it’s his money. With that I am off for my morning coffee with my lovely wife and I will then tune in the Masters for the second day. Yesterday was a great day. Starting off there was a threat of rain but it held off for most of the day. Hope it is nice today for all the golfers. At this time the leader board is saying:

1 Brooks Koepka -6
2 Bryson DeChambeau -6
3 Phil Mickelson -5
4 Ian Poulter -4
4 Dustin Johnson -4
6 Adam Scott -3

Good Morning Port Loring

We woke up to mostly clouds this morning. There is a warning up for some freezing rain overnight to Friday morning, which should make things interesting. Precipitation will begin as snow late this afternoon or evening, then change to ice pellets. Ice pellets will change to freezing rain overnight. Freezing rain will continue for several hours before finally changing to rain Friday morning. Temperatures waking up were sitting at -6 C | 21.2 F It should warm up a wee bit, but we will have to wait and see. Highway 522 at the moment is dry and bare, but that could change. On another note my lovely wife and I went to North Bay yesterday to pick up a few items of choice. Had a great day sunshine both ways. Roads were good other than a bit rough with the frost coming out of the ground. But they were dry, so the trip didn’t mess up my car for a change. In town, we picked up the things we wanted, found some great deals, and had lunch. Nothing special this time round. So with that I am off to put some more wood once again in the furnace and have a coffee with my wife, and will see what the day has in store. The 2019 Masters starts today. Should make for, 4 great days of Golf. Looking forward to it with a couple cool ones and maybe a Pizza thrown in for good measure. GW

The worlds best Golf, is at the Masters!
