George Walters is a Canadian columnist and author with more than forty years of writing experience. For over twenty years he has written a weekly column for Postmedia Network — Canada's largest newspaper chain — never missing a single week, publishing fifty-two stories a year. Combined with his work in Reader's Digest Community Voices, World News, Country Living, The Country Register, and farm and rural lifestyle magazines across Canada, he has published well over two thousand stories drawn from everyday life. He writes about farm work, fishing, old trucks, and the kind of people you only find in small towns — but just as likely he'll hand a voice to a weathered telephone pole, or turn his eye on something happening in the world today and tell you exactly what he thinks about it. No subject is off limits. If there's a story in it, George will find it. He has been called a philosopher of everyday life, a description that came up more than once during his television appearances over the years — and it's not hard to see why. His writing has a way of making the ordinary feel worth sitting with. He is the author of eleven books, including yearly short story collections and the Clay Moretti Files mystery series. Clay is a fifty-year-old private investigator who drives a 1967 Ford Galaxie, smokes cigars, and operates by a code the modern world gave up on a long time ago. The cases are present day. The man handling them is not. All titles are available in paperback and eBook on Amazon. Together, George and his wife Ruth have also created Elmer Finds His Way, the first in what he hopes will be a long series of children's books. Ruth did all the illustrations, as she has for every one of George's books — and beyond that she designed and painted the covers as well. Her work is woven into every page of everything he has published. A few words from readers: "I pulled up a kitchen chair and read your story three times." "You have a way of making a person homesick for a place they haven't been to." "Thank you for writing things that make old people and kids feel the same way at the same time." All my titles are available in paperback and eBook on Amazon.ca here.

China Investment takes $1.74 billion Teck stake. Our Coal Mines

You know I sure can’t figure our country or our Powers That Be  anymore, when it comes to protecting our resources. One has to remember that they are pretty well all that is left here in Canada that we really own. Now this  happening with China buying into more of  our  resourcesNot a good thing in my eyes and should have never been allowed. One day families will look back and say.  “You know honey, my Dad one time told me that we used to be a self efficiant country, and believe it or not, Canadians owned everything.”  My Opinion Only

Eliminate Processed Foods In Your Diet. Sooner The Better Through My Eyes.

You know, over the past few years I have tried my hardest to let folks in on the good things that we have to offer in this world, along with the bad, which the latter is being promoted now more than the good.  Take packaged luncheon meat. I for one think, that processed foods is the worst food that anyone can eat. My wife and I have totally eliminated it from our diet and, are glad we did.  I know some say; Hey! What can one eat that is good for you?  Well, there is lots, but one has to bypass about 3/4 of what is on the grocery store shelves. One has to make darn sure he or she knows where their food is coming from. Myself I only buy what I know is healthy, which is a hard thing to do in to-days world.  But it is possible. I like fresh fish, chickens that I know where they were raised.   Pork and beef, not too much, but I  won’t buy unless I know where the meat comes from.  I try to buy totally  Canadian or USA produce.  I grow all my own vegetables and my wife does up tons for winter and puts them away, so that we can eat healthy all winter long.   As I always say, buy organic and make sure you know where the organic is grown or raised.  Well, guess that’s it,  I got a picture for you to look at, which comes right from a package of processed luncheon meat.  Sure looks tasty huh?  The thing is, millions are putting it into their stomach right now.  My Opinion Only

Fluoride In Our Drinking Water Hmm…

Good topic. Let’s take our pure and tasty drinking water, put a medication (fluoride) in it, make the people accept it and make believe we have Freedom of Choice in this country.  I actually know a fellow that works in the production of fluoride, and, well, you wouldn’t want me to tell you what he says about fluoride.  I will say this though on his behalf.  He keeps it totally away from all his family and children.  Now, take a look at this article, should get you to thinking of what the Powers That Be are doing to us humans.

I would like to pose some hypothetical questions:

What would you do if you suddenly found out that fluoride was not “safe and effective” at all, but was actually a carcinogenic industrial waste?

What would you do if you learned that the sugar lobby’s answer to cavity reduction is more fluoride rather than less sugar in the diet?

What would you think if you suddenly found out that fluoride doesn’t stop tooth decay at all, but actually causes teeth to rot and crumble, and by the same mechanism also causes osteoporosis?

What would you do if you found out that a myriad of research and reports from China, showing that fluoride ingestion causes interference with brain development, had been purposely withheld from the people in the U.S.?

What would you do if you suddenly found out that fluoride inhibits antibody formation in the blood, depresses thyroid activity, promotes the development of bone cancer, causes premature aging of the human body, and is used in rat poison, and that the contents of a family size tube of overpriced, huge profit margin fluoridated toothpaste is enough to kill a 25 pound (ca. 11 kilogram) child?

And after you found out all this, would it surprise you that federal health agencies have known these facts for years, but have been controlled by the political interests of the nuclear arms, aluminum, and phosphate manufacturers to keep it a secret?

Why would they do that? So that a toxic industrial waste could be passed off on the public as a nutrient with necessary health benefits, to the tune of $10 billion a year or more going in the pockets of these industries rather than  having to spend that amount to dispose of it properly as a toxic waste.

Next, we have to look at the people that are for and against this assault upon our health.

Those against this horror movie are everyday people. Accountants, retired engineers, chemistry professors, teachers, acupuncturists, dentists, believe it or not, the Union of Scientists at the EPA, and a host of others from all walks of life. And, all of them come armed with peer-reviewed scientific literature to back up what they have to say.

Those in flavor of this horror movie, with lots of credentials, are the majority of dentists, the public health officials and many people in various government positions. And what do they come armed with? Speculation and years of repeating, like good little lemmings, that fluoride is “safe and effective”. If it were so safe and effective to ingest, why would the CDC say that fluoride’s effectiveness is on the surface of the tooth and only after it comes into the mouth?

Our Vegetable Garden 2009

Well in the picture taking mode this morning so figured I would take a few of some wild daisies and some of my vegetable garden for you to take a look at.  Things are really coming along as you can see.   I would also like to say that all my tomato plants, cabbage and so on this year was bought at Powassan Farm & Pet Centre, 788 Main Street, Powassan Ontario  705-724-9513. Gotta’ say, they sure have good healthy plants in their garden centre.  Also real nice folks to deal with.  Just ask for Betty, or any of her staff, all great folks.  I just enjoy going in for a chat now and then.

Summer Happenings Hmm………..Good

Now here is a sign that summer is here, and what life is all about. Picked around four baskets so far this year and heading out this morning to pick some more.  Eat half and put the rest in the freezer for winter.  Tough life huh?
