We are having some sunshine here in Port Loring, this morning, but we are also having some clouds messing things up. But we should be seeing more sunshine as the day progresses. Highway 522 is starting to be busy the past couple days, and I suspect today and the weekend will be even busier. As yet, I haven’t seen any mosquitoes or blackflies. But I suspect that to change soon with the warmer temperatures entering into the picture. Right now, it is a bit of a reprieve for us humans and animals.

On another note, yesterday I worked steadily once again on this roadside trailer affair I am fabricating. LOL It’s taking me longer than I thought it would, reason being I keep on adding things as I go along, thinking it will be just that much nicer when all said and done. Then we have to roll it out to our front yard, where it will stay. It isn’t made for the road, that”s for sure, LOL, But it will be a nice item to display a few outside items that we will have for sale later on this month.

With that, I am off for a bowl of cereal that my lovely wife is making for me, and will then see what the day has in store, other than what I have planned. Today, I will be covering the floor and bottom with some wood preserver. Once that is done, I will fasten the floor boards into place and get to building the roof. Take care and stay safe. We had a visitor yesterday saying that where he works there were a couple more people sick with the virus, so it is spreading more and more every day here in town. Over 30 have died from it here in Ontario yesterday. GW

It’s a really nice looking day here in Port Loring, Ontario. The sun is shinning, hardly no wind to speak off, the birds are chirping, and the grass is growing. Damn forgot I have to get my mowers running. There is always something that needs doing. Oh well, it’s better than shovelling snow. And truth be told, there is nothing that smells nicer than fresh cut grass, or hay for that matter.

Highway 522 is picking up with traffic these days. Lots of campers and boats moving into our area. Folks are leaving the cities for the country life, and I can’t rightly say I blame them.

On another note, I have been really busy working on an old trailer I made a few years ago. I took some before pictures and will take some after its finished pictures and let you have a look once I have it complete. We are going to situate it in front of our home out by the Highway. Should be a nice vocal point for sure.

Other than people getting into summer mode, not too much else happening in and around our community. With that, I am off for a boiled egg and a piece of toast that my lovely wife is preparing for me, and will then get to work. Sure nice being outside with the warm sunshine for a change. Stay safe, this virus is still taking its toll on folks here in town. GW

What’s Happening On May 4/2022

Good Morning! It’s another cloudy morning starting things off here in Port Loring, Ontario, Canada. We are also seeing a few sprinkles of rain. But all that said … we should be seeing some sunshine later on in the day and a lot more tomorrow. Which will be nice. The temperatures will also increase as the day moves forward. Highway 522 is starting to become busy with people coming in from all over. I used to know everyone here in town, but now maybe half if that. New faces, new ideas … I guess that is okay. Life moves on.

On another note, my wife and I decided to go into town for some things yesterday. The price of things though is outrageous. It’s going to be a hard summer money wise for folks, that’s for sure. And the gas prices … well, what can I say with them sitting at $2:00 a litre. We however went to the reserve and filled up our tank there, as it was sitting at $1.75 a Litre. If these places want to charge so much, we will figure out ways to get it cheaper elsewhere. They think they are smart, but in reality they are the ones that will lose in the long run. And as I say, there is no reason for the prices being so high. Other than our Powers That be spending money on things that aren’t necessary and in the wrong places. Along with trying to implement things into our society that makes us more like sheep than humans. Sheesh! It doesn’t take much these days to get me going LOL LOL.

Today I will be back working in my old woodworking shop on a few projects I have on the go. Take care and stay safe. GW

It’s a cloudy, cool morning here in Port Loring, Ontario. We are also having some intermittent showers. It will remain this way for most of the day, with some more showers arriving later on this afternoon. It is still a touch cool, with the temperature waking up sitting at 7.3 C | 45.14 F.

Now in saying all that, tomorrow things start to change to more enjoyable weather. By the looks of things, my old weather station, is saying that we will be having lots of sunshine for the next 7 or 8 days. And along with that, the temperatures are going to be warming up and drying things up. Which is nice as I would like to till up my vegetable gardens, getting them ready to plant around the end of May. It would be nice if I could get some things planted earlier.

No Black Flies as yet in our area. Highway 522 is picking up with folks starting to open up their cottages along with some settling into their camping spots for the summer. It’s nice to see folks moving around.

Yesterday I worked all day on a stand I am making, using an old trailer I made years ago, that I will put out front of our home. Kind of handy to sell a few fresh veggies that we grow along with other things. The one I had was looking kind of shabby and needed a lot of repairs, but it is coming along. All it takes is time, a bit of money and some ingenuity. Along with the equipment to make it. LOL It was a bit cool yesterday working on things, but in spite of the weather I still managed to get a lot done. If things goes to plan, I should have it ready in a week or so.

With that, I am off for a piece of toast that my lovely wife is making for me, and will then get to work. Have a great day, and take extra precautions if out and about, as this virus is still hitting a lot of folks here in our town. And other places as well. Better be safe than sorry. GW

What’s Happening On May 2/2022

It’s a rainy morning here in Port Loring, Ontario. The rain will bring things along like the grass, trees, and flowers. It is nice watching things wake up after a long winters sleep. Highway 522 is bare and wet this morning and quiet. Through the day we are seeing a few new people moving into the area. The virus is still pretty bad here in town, with a lot of people being sick.

Yesterday, my wife and I got our outside shower house all set up for summer. I still have to hook up the water to the cottage, but I can do that when a nicer day is upon us. The gas prices are still very high, sitting around the $2.00 a Litre mark in North Bay, some places are a touch lower. On the reserve, they are sitting at around $1:72 a Litre. And I suspect it will remain high with summer entering into the picture, The Powers That Be likes to capitalize on everyone enjoying their holidays. The thing is, there is no reason for it to be so high here in Canada, where we have more natural resources than most other countries. What we need to be doing is building our own refineries, so we can be more self efficient. At the moment, we let the USA refine our oil, along with a few other countries. It’s no wonder other countries look at us as a joke. They are laughing all the way to the bank.

Anyway that is my rant for this rainy morning Ha Ha.

Today I will be working away in my woodworking shop on some more one of a kind items for our gift shop that we hope will be opening at the end of May. We will see how this virus is doing here in town when the time comes. I did light the wood stove this morning to take out the dampness and warm the shop up a bit. Makes things nicer. No black flies as yet. So with that, I am off for a boiled egg and a piece of toast that my lovely wife is making for me. Stay safe. GW
