Another beauty of a day here in Port Loring Ontario Canada.  Sun is shinning with a slight breeze.  Which makes it nice.  Shadows from the trees sure make things look inviting to say the least.

No rain in the forecast for a week or so it says.  That will be nice if true.

I took a picture of a welcome sign out front of our home..  They are painted by my lovely wife who is an artist.  I can’t begin to remember how many signs she has painted for folks over the year or how many paintings she has brought to life.   The sign sells for $150.00 with what ever you would like on it.  Within reason of course.  The wood I saved from a hundred year old tree that I had to take down this spring. Great piece that can be set anywhere. Ours is at the end of the driveway.

With that heading out to the front porch to soak up some of that morning sunshine.  Then we will see where the day takes us.  Just never know what lies ahead.

We  finally got a pretty good looking day here in Port Loring Ontario Canada.  Sun is shinning with a light breeze and  a few clouds thrown in for good measure.  Grass is growing well these days and it’s been a chore just getting it cut after all the rain we been having.

Black flies are all but gone but skeeters have replaced them.  One would be hard pressed to go outside without a few finding them, or them finding you.

Gardens are doing well this year. Veggies are growing leaps and bounds.  Beans are almost ready to tie up with tomatoes taking over the rows.  Lettuce and kale are just lovely this year.  Wife and I have been eating it daily.  We have lots and are selling the extra we have.

Today I am thinking some front porch sittin’ is in order, as we have been quite busy for the past few months and deserve a break.

Fishing season is upon us and I am thinking of heading out next weekend.  Got the old boat all set.  Started it up after sitting all winter and runs like a top.  Put some fresh oil in the bottom end which should be good for another year.

With that, you all have a great Sunday.  Soak up that sunshine. Doing so will save a lot of grief this coming winter.

Good Morning: Well it’s been quite awhile since my last post. Reason being it has been a really busy summer. From taking down trees, working in the gardens, painting, firewood piling for winter, to talking to customers coming into our small store. With that I just didn’t get the time to be here on the computer. But with winter coming on I should be able to have a bit more time. On another note, our vegetable gardens has all but come to an end. I still have fresh Romain lettuce to eat every day as I put in a second crop this year near the end of August. First time for trying that and glad I did as now we should have lots to eat right up till it freezes. Today I will be working in the shop setting up for a winter of flute making. This year I will be making some very exotic flutes in all keys. Lots to set up getting the equipment in shape. I also reorganized my whole shop getting rid of things that were just taking up space. Hard to do that with some things as they became like a friend. But sooner or later these things has to be done. With that enjoy your day. Make it a good day, only you can do that.

Good Morning: Finally finished up piling my firewood for next year along with bringing in this winters supply. Always makes me feel better knowing that is done up. Today wife and I will get to doing up tomatoes as it is time. The rain couldn’t have come at a better time turning them nice and red and full of flavor. Good Morning:  Boy  summer is moving along so quickly. Here it is the middle of August.  Been a very busy summer for my wife and I. From taking down trees, piling firewood to building and repairing things along with taking care of customers coming into our small store. Still, lots to do but when all said and done will make a great improvement to our place of enjoyment. Got my firewood in for winter and will get to piling next years shortly. On another note the gardens have done well in-spite of the dry weather we been having. Tomatoes are about ready to be done up along with cucumbers. Wife has been steadily preserving and drying things for winter. Herbs and spices are also all done up which will keep us fit.     Great feeling knowing that one will be warm and well-fed in the cold winter days which isn’t to far off.  With that enjoy your day.

Weather Forecast: Going to be boiling today and tomorrow. Great day to do some front porch sittin’ with a cool drink.  If work is necessary get it done in  the mornings and relax in the afternoons. Good Morning:  Well I am sure this hot weather has taken its toll on a lot of folks here in the north. For myself finding a shady place in the afternoon has been a big part of my day. Veggie garden is crying for rain in need of a drink. I have watered every evening which helps a bit. Nothing like rain water though to make things grow. Good Morning:  Another great looking day here in Port Loring, Ontario, Canada. Sun is shining, not to hot, not to cold and low humidity.  What could be better, other than it being a long weekend for some.  Also the first of August is when a lot of folks take their yearly holidays. Usually two weeks with pay which was earned.  Myself for most my life I was self-employed, other than a few years starting out.  So holidays didn’t come that often for my wife and I.  Now though is a different story.  Every day is a holiday and we enjoy them to the fullest. Sure lots of work has to be done each day, but its our day, to do with in what ever way we choose.  With that enjoy the day and look forward to tomorrow. The future is yours to make.

Good Morning: Looking like a nice day here in Port Loring, Ontario, Canada. Gardens had their well needed rain, which in turn made them grow immensely. Yesterday started on making a couple of bird feeders with Plexiglas sides so one can see if more feed is needed. I was thinking of buying one, but for the price they want these days it is much cheaper for me to make one. Sign of the times. Seems today folks want huge dollars for their work. I know things have changed costing more for materials but it hasn’t changed that much. Used to be a fair wage for a fair days work. Not so today by some folks standards. There are ways to get around this though and that is by shopping around. If the price is to high for the items you are getting, or the work they are putting out, tell them and move on. Another thing one has to watch when shopping in stores, is the sticker price. Price on the shelves say one thing, get up to the cash register and every so often it says another. One has to watch 24-7. Don’t be taken advantage of.

Good Morning: Well that was a warm one yesterday. But I did manage to get a few things done in the house that has been on my mind.  Today will be another day of taking things easy. I also felt sorry for my plants yesterday so gave them a drink from the rain barrel.  Hoping we get that rain they are calling for later in the day. Nothing quite like rain water to make things grow.  Our store has been quite busy this week with folks putting in some orders for signs and Flutes.  Also with our new natural health book that just came out, Natures Gateway To Health it has reached the 500 mark in sales yesterday, here from our home and on-line.  Great book with lots of information that anyone can put to use.  So with that, you all enjoy your day and take it a bit easy today till this heat dissipates. Fishing Report:  Today the old weather stick is saying that the best times to be out there will be from 7:45 AM – 11:30AM. Then again a bit later from 2:20 PM – 4:30 PM. And if your up to it one more time from 7:00 PM – 10:00 PM.  I give it a 4 fish rating out of 5 for catching a few.  “ Remember fish the shady side of rocks and logs and the down current side of large boulders and stumps and the windless side of hills and ledges.”  Good luck!
