Good Morning: Rainy old day here in Port Loring. Temperatures though waking up were sitting at…13 C | 55.4 F. Quite warm for this time of year.
Forecast For Today: Stormy, much rain throughout the day.
Hunting Times: A bit wet to be out there today I am thinking. But for those that do the old weather stick is saying that the best times to be out there will be from…8:00 AM – 10:30 AM. Then again a bit later from…1:30 PM – 3:30 PM. I give it a 2 buck rating out of 5 for seeing them. Winds this morning are calm coming in from the East. Sun will set at 6:34 PM. Good Luck.
Around Town: Good day to do some inside work with the rain being as it is. Myself I got lots to do and lots that need doing, but one sometimes can’t do what they want. So when that comes upon a feller he is introduced to patience. I would think that is about the hardest thing to accomplish for us humans, as we tend to want things right away. I am slowly conquering it but takes some work. On another note…vegetable gardens need to be tilled up one more time but hard to do right now being so wet. But should still get a few good dry days before it freezes. Hope so. So my friends, stay dry and warm an have a great day. All in how we make them. George Walters; [email protected]
Good Morning: Well waking up this morning was like waking up to summer. Temperatures were sitting at…16.8 C | 62.24 F. Can’t beat that for this time of year let me tell ya.
Forecast For Today: Stormy, much rain off and on throughout the day and into tomorrow. We could see a few breaks in the clouds off and on.
Hunting Times: This morning the old weather stick along with data is saying that the best times to be out there will be from..11:30 AM – 2:30 PM. Winds are coming in from the South at…1.6 m/s | 5.76 km/h | 3.58 mph. Sun will set at….6:36 PM. Rain will become heavy around 5:00 PM. Good Luck!
Around Town: Well have to say weather wise here in Port Loring it is quite nice other than being wet. Wife and I took a drive to North Bay on the weekend to pick up a few items of choice. On route I noticed that the leaves in certain areas were just perfect, colours were amazing. Then just a mile or so further on they were all but down. Amazing how Mother Nature chooses where to show off. I also noticed, not sure if anyone else has, that along Highway 522 about half way out, heading to Highway 11, that the temperatures drop about ten degrees with in seconds. In one spot. Car windows steam up from the temperature change instantly. I thought this was a one time thing but now that I have paid attention to it I found it happens in about the same spot every trip out or in. Port Hole to another dimension, freak of nature or just the way things are??? Anyone’s guess I suppose. But does seem strange to say the least. Thought I would bring it up in case some one else has experienced the same thing. I have only had it happen one other time in sequence on the old Highway 27 which runs between Toronto & Barrie down near Schomberg Ontario. Other than that not much happening in and around our town of Port Loring. Enjoy the day my friends, along with the weather. George Walters [email protected]
Good Morning: Happy Thanksgiving. Hope all is well and you are all enjoying the season. Not as cold here in Port Loring this morning. Temperatures waking up were sitting at…7.4 C | 45.32 F.
Forecast For Today: Stormy, much rain will be upon us a bit later. But it will get warmer for the next few days, Could even reach up to near 70 F / 21 C. So some nicer weather but will be quite wet out there.
Hunting Times: Today data is saying that the best times to be out there will be from 11:30 AM – 2:30 PM. Precise times are: 8:00 AM…11:00 AM…2:00 PM and 5:00 PM. I give it a 3 Buck rating out of 5 for seeing a few. Winds are coming in from the South South East at around 2 MPH. So choose your location wisely. You want to stay up wind of them if possible. But in saying that I have found that every once in awhile the deer are inquisitive and like to take a look at what they smell or see. Like on days like today. Good Luck.
Around Town: Today Highway 522 is very quiet. I suspect that a bit later a few folks will be out travelling to their families and friends. For my wife and I we will be here at home as we had some things hold us back from going to see our son this year. So rest is on your plates this year and of course a nice chicken supper will be added a bit later on i the day. So my friends once again… I hope you all have a great Thanksgiving and enjoy your day. George Walters…[email protected]
Good Morning: Well a pretty good looking day is shaping up for us here in Port Loring Ontario Canada. Temperatures were a touch cool with a bit of ice on the puddles out back of our house. Waking up it was sitting at…4.8 C | 40.64 F.
Forecast For Today: Changeable, mending as the day moves forward.
Hunting Times: This morning the old weather stick is saying that the best times to be out there will be from…8:00 AM – 10:00 AM. Then once again from 1:00 PM – 5:00 PM. Precise times on the hour would be 9:00 AM and 3:30 PM. Winds are coming in from the North West at around 2 MPH this morning. So pick your spot wisely.
Around Time: Nothing much happening once again around town. Actually though there has been quite a few cars and trucks moving up and down Highway 522 yesterday. Lot of hunters moving into the area. So while it is a good thing with folks coming up for the hunt, with so many, extra care while out there should be taken. Pays to be safe. Enjoy your day my friends.
Good Morning: Well cool morning out there, waking up to temperatures sitting at…5.4 C | 41.72 F.
Forecast: Unsettled, short fine intervals. Should see a touch of sunshine also off and on throughout the day. Hope so.
Hunting Times: This morning putting everything together things are saying that the best times to be out there will be from..12:30 PM – 3:20 PM. Precise times to be out there will be 8:00 AM and 2:00 PM. Winds are from the west coming in at around 2 MPH. Good Luck.
Around Town: Few hunters moving into the area these days. Gearing up for the Moose and Deer hunt. Should be an interesting year and I am thinking folks will have to do a bit of work to put meat in the freezer this year. The Deer are a bit more leery and the Moose well they aren’t by no means dumb. They didn’t get so large and old making mistakes. Other than that not much else happening around town. Stores are really quiet with the tourists pretty well all gone for the year. On another note one should try to stay warm and dry it is important this time of year. Along with keeping your hands away from your face. Worst thing you can do for catching the cold of flu is touch your face with your hands. My family have made it a habit of never touching their face. At any given time you can see them using their shirt sleeve instead if an itch should occur. If everyone did that, it would in itself cut colds and flu in half. Food for thought my friends. Enjoy your day.
Good Morning: Well another cloudy rainy day here in Port Loring. Temperatures waking up were sitting at…8.9 C | 48.02 F.
Forecast For Today: Stormy, much rain throughout most of the day. I am thinking it will be Thursday before we see an substantial sunshine.
Hunting Times: Today with data put together along with the old weather stick it is saying the best times to be out there will be from 10:00 AM – 12:30 PM. Then again from 4:00 PM – 6:00 PM. Exact Times to be sitting at your favourite spot will be 8:00 AM…11:00 AM…2:00 PM and 5:00 PM. I give it a 2 Buck Rating out of 5 for seeing them. Pick your spot wisely with the winds coming out of the west at 14 MPH. Sun will set at, 6:47 PM. With all that info under your belt…Good Luck.
Around Town: Nothing much to report here this morning. Hardly a car or truck moving up and down Highway 522. Thinking on things and putting data together I am thinking we will have a snowy cold winter ahead of us. Will also see a lot of winds which will make it seem just that much colder. So might pay to add a bit more oil to your tank or split a bit more wood. Also would pay to caulk around them windows some. I redid all my windows this year from top to bottom. Last year I insulated the whole house inside the walls from the inside. Was a major job for sure but the benefits were outstanding. Then covering the walls with all new drywall and my wife’s decorating skills, she is one sweet looking home let me tell you. Cosy and warm and just invites a person to come in and sit down. We did a lot around this old house and now with new furnaces being installed wood and oil along with new duct work, wiring and things she will be even better. Can’t thank Jamie Mathews enough for all the hard and exceptionally good work he has done for my wife and I. Great fellow for sure and would highly recommend him for all your furnace needs. Enjoy your day my friends.
Good Morning: Well things are a touch cooler once again here in Port Loring. Temperatures waking up were sitting at…9 C | 48.2 F.
Forecast For Today: Stormy, may improve as the moves forward. I do see some sunshine out there this morning so that is inspiring to ones mind and soul.
Hunting Times: The old weather stick is saying that the best times to be out there hunting this morning will be from..10:00 AM – 12:00 PM. Then once again from 4:00 AM – 6:00 PM. The best of the best on actual times would be..8:00 AM…2:00 PM and 5:00 PM. I give it a 2 Buck Rating out of 5 for seeing them. It’s up to you if you get one. LOL Good Luck!
Around Town: Quiet around town. Myself I have lots to do with some shop work. Along with that Jamie Mathews is installing a new wood furnace along side our oil furnace at the moment with all new duct work. So that is an on going project. I will say this though, for anyone that is interested in getting a new furnace or in need of some work done on their old furnace, that he is an amazing fellow and knows his stuff. We are very happy with his work and workmanship. He gives good quality work for a good price, what more can one say. Can’t wait till it is all hooked up, should save us on some oil and wood this winter, which will be nice. On another note I will be tilling up my garden one more time so I can plant next years garlic in a few days, which will be just one more thing out of the way. So my friends have a great day and if that sunshine stays shinning down upon us try and soak up a bit, as the old body will sure thank you for it. George Walters
Good Morning: Well what can I say other than rain again. Rain an cool weather seems to be the trend these days. Temperatures waking up were sitting at…5.4 C | 41.72 F, quite cool too or so it seems to me this morning.
Forecast For Today: Mostly very unsettled weather will prevail upon us here in Port Loring Ontario and will continue for the next few days. Thinking Thursday we might and I say might…see some sunshine.
Hunting Times: This morning the old weather stick is saying that the best times to be out there today will be from 9:00AM – 12:30 PM. Then again from 4:00 PM – 6:00 PM. I give it a two Buck Rating out of 5 for getting one. Things will improve.
Around Town: Nothing much to report here this morning. Weather being as it is most folks are staying home enjoying the comfort that is readily available. Can’t say I blame them neither. Today I am just going to take it easy. Might even read a book for a change haven’t done that in awhile. Got a few good westerns with pages waiting to be opened. Could use some more with winter coming on so might have to start looking around for some. So my friends have a great day.
Good Morning: Well another rainy, cloudy day here in Port Loring. Waking up temperatures were sitting at 11.5 C | 52.7 F. Won’t raise much higher than that through the day.
Forecast For Today: Stormy, much rain off and on all day.
Hunting Times: This morning the old weather stick is saying that the best times to be out there will be from 11:00 AM – 2:00 PM. Not the greatest weather today for hunting. Lets hope better days lie ahead. At any rate…good luck.
Around Town: With all the high winds we had yesterday along with the rain it sure took a toll on our leaves here in Port Loring Ontario. Not too many left now for one to enjoy. But it is that time of year and we did have some exceptionally nice days to take them in. One of the best years for colour I would say and should be put down in the history books. Bow season for hunting Deer is now open. Care should be taken as always if out there in the bush and I hope you have a great hunt this year. Myself I won’t be out as much this year as some items in my life need attending but I am going to try for a few days. Nothing better than venison on the table come supper time. Enjoy your day my friends.
Good Morning: Waking up things were a bit warmer with temperatures sitting at…17 C | 62.6 F. Will warm up even more as the day progresses.
Forecast Today: Stormy, much rain and into tomorrow. Looks like around three days of rain with cooler temperatures closing in on is.
Fishing Times: This morning the old weather stick is saying that the best times to be out there will be from 3:00 PM – 5:00 PM. I give it a 3 fish rating out of 4 for catching them. Today is the last day for the fishing times, to be replaced with the Hunting Times, as Bow season for Deer is now open here in Port Loring. Exact Dates for WMU 47 runs through…Oct. 1 to Nov. 2.. I hope you all have a safe, hunting season this year with lots of fun and meat in the freezer for winter. Good Luck.
Around Town: Few trucks moving up and down Highway 522 this morning but that is about it. Leaves are about half gone covering the ground below. I have to say though it has been one of the best years ever for colours. Just seems to mesmerise a person taking in what Nature has to offer. Enjoy it while it lasts my friends, from colours we change to white, browns and dark greens for quite a spell. I don’t know about you, but I am looking forward to spring already. Ha ha.
Good Morning: Hope everyone is in good spirits this morning. A touch cloudy but should clear up in a bit. Waking up temperatures were sitting at 10.9 C | 51.62 F.
Forecast For Today: Showery early, improving throughout the day. Should see some sunshine a bit later along with temperature straining to reach 21 C / 70 F.
Bug Report: Figured I would say a few words in this department this morning as I was out yesterday digging some roots and found that a few mosquitoes were bugging me. Even after the frost we had awhile back. So a few hung on to irritate us humans.
Fishing Report: This morning the old weather stick is saying that the best times to be out there will be from 9:00 AM – 11:30 AM. Then once again from 3:00 PM – 5:30 PM. I give it a 2 fish rating for catching them today out of 4. Good Luck!
Around Town: Not too much to report here once again this morning. Wet, damp and gloomy days has a way of keeping folks to themselves. Only the sunshine makes a person feel more hospitable it seems. Just a bit of proof that we all rely on the sun to survive. But as I said before hand, we should see some sunshine later on in the day which should make for a few happy faces once again. Life is what you make it my friends, along with what roads you choose to travel. Rely on your own instincts not others. Enjoy your day.
Good Morning: Well rainy old day here so far this morning. Waking up temperatures were sitting at…7.8 C | 46.04 F. Getting a touch cooler.
Forecast For Today: Changeable, mending as the day moves forward.
Fishing Times: This morning the old weather stick is saying that the best times to be out there will be from 8:00 AM – 10:00 AM. Then once again from 12:30 PM – 4:00 PM. I give it a 2 fish rating out of 4 for catching them. Will get better some tomorrow. Raincoat is in order once again today.
Around Town: Chatted to a couple friends of mine that own resorts in the area yesterday. They were saying, for most parts they made out pretty good this year, in spite of all the rain and cold weather. Makes my day when I hear that, as I know how hard these folks work. Just the maintenance of their properties is almost a full time job. All for the folks that comes to visit. On another note I was going to work up the gardens one more time today but with the rain it will have to be put on hold for a bit. So will get into some inside work that has been bugging me for the past few weeks. Enjoy the beauty around you my friends, as it is there…you just have to open your eyes and mind a bit more to see it sometimes.
Good Morning: Well a bit of rain us falling upon us here in Port Loring this morning. Temperatures waking up were sitting at….11.4 C | 52.52 F
Forecast For Today: Showery early, improving as the day progresses.
Fishing Times: This morning the old weather stick is saying that the best times to be out there will be from…2:00 PM – 4:00 PM. I give it a 2 fish rating out of 4 for catching them. A rain coat would be on order for today.
Around Town: Few trucks moving around this morning on Highway 522 but that is about it. Stores are on the quiet side as the leaves of fall surround them. Gives me a good feeling inside knowing that nature is on the verge of resting for a few months. As us humans should be doing also. On another note, I have my gardens pretty well all set for next year. Will add some leaves to them as they come down. Then once piled high will till it up one last time and plant my garlic. Tea time here my friends, enjoy your day and if you do nothing else today try and get out for a bit and breath in some of our fresh northern air. Great for the body and soul.
Good Morning: Well nice looking day out there starting off with temperatures sitting at…12.1 C | 53.78 F.
Forecast For Today: Fairly fine, improving to even nicer weather as the day progresses.
Fishing Times: This morning the old weather stick is saying that the best times to be out there will be from…7:00 AM – 10:00 AM. Then once again from 12:00 PM – 3:00 PM. I give it a 2 fish rating out of 4 for catching them. Good Luck!
Around Town: Quiet this morning here in Port Loring. Yesterday wife and I went to North Bay and I have to say it was busy. Stores were lined up at the cash registers no matter where we went. Even the restaurants were busy and one would have to wait for a seat. I see there is a new Michaels Store, Winners and others now located on the north side of town, beside the Canadian Tires Store. Also a new A&W is opening soon in the same location. Amazing just how much North Bay is growing or should say, has grown. Will be nice now for us who live here in Port Loring and the country, as it will save a long drive to Parry Sound, Sudbury or Barrie when seeking them out. Had a great day and on the drive into town, I have to tell you…the leaves were a road of colour. We are right in the middle of the leaves changing right now. It was so nice, the wife and I had to stop along the road and sit for a few minutes, just to take it all in. Below is just one of many pictures she took along our way to town. Click To Enlarge…

Good Morning: Well another beauty of a day is upon us. Sun is up early with hardly a cloud intervening with its choice to be shown. Temperatures were a touch cool waking up sitting at…7 C | 44.6 F.
Weather Forecast For Today: Becoming fine, with lots of sunshine and temperatures rising up to near 22 C / 70 F. Should be no one complaining about the weather in our area today.
Fishing Times: This morning the old weather stick is saying that the best times to be out there will be from 7:00 AM – 10:00 AM. Then once again from 3:00 PM – 5:30 PM. I give it a 3 fish rating out of 4 for catching them today.
Around Town: Very quiet around town with folks taking life easy. Great way to enjoy life to say the least. Also would like to say that this is a perfect time to till up the veggie garden, around the items that are still growing. I place my items in certain areas just for this reason, so come fall I don’t have to disturb them when I get to tilling up things. I like to till the garden now, especially since it is going to be sunny and warm. As once done it has a chance to dry out a touch. After a few weeks of exposing the soil to the sun, letting it soak up all its energy I then get to planting my garlic for next spring. Some plant in the early spring pertaining to garlic, but I like to plant mine in the fall just before the ground freezes. Come early next summer one then will be able to enjoy what has been growing beneath the soil all winter long, soaking up all the energy and minerals needed to keep the body healthy and strong. So my friends take advantage of the warm weather and sunshine, it is a gift this time of year and a gift is meant to be enjoyed.

Good Morning: Well a bit cool this morning. Waking up temperatures were sitting at… 4.9 C | 40.82 F.
Forecast For Today: Showery early, improving as the day moves forward. After today things will warm up to near 20 C / 70 F with lots of sunshine. We should see a bit of sunshine today also once the clouds moves out.
Bug Report: None. This report will be removed after today till next spring.

Around Town: Monday morning and folks are out and about some. Few trucks moving up and down Highway 522 heading off to their place of work. Today I will finish up cleaning out the vegetable gardens and bring in what is left for our table. Once done that I will let it dry up a touch and get to tilling it up for winter. Like it to air well so I can get to planting my garlic, which will come up next spring. One bulb of garlic can give you up to six bulbs or more next spring. Just break the bulb apart and put one clove in each hole which should be about two inches deep, top facing up. Cover it up and that’s it. Can’t get much simpler than that and it is so….good for you. Remember though for good results plant our own Ontario Organic Garlic, not the ones from other countries. So my friends, enjoy your day and get outside all you can this week, as sunshine will be in abundance.

Forecast For Today: Rain, very unsettled. Tomorrow though things will change to the best with some really nice weather heading our way. Temperatures will get up to near 24 C / 72 F mid week. We should see lots of sun starting tomorrow for the next two weeks. Can’t beat that.

Around Town: Went for a walk with my lovely wife this morning and took in what nature has to offer. Warm breeze hitting my face almost made it feel like we was coming into summer instead of fall. Things are so quiet in the morning hours, peaceful one might say. Breathing in the fresh air is something in itself. The lake was just a shimmering with thousands of little ripples, almost like it was beckoning me to stop and say hi, which we did. Standing on the dock looking out before we headed on back two loons swam closer watching us as we were them. Nothing is more soothing than nature in the wild. Now going to have my morning tea and then we will see where the day brings us. Enjoy your day my friends.

Good Morning: Well some sun is upon us here in Port Loring this morning. Temperatures waking up were sitting at…2.3 C | 36.14 F.
Forecast For Today: Fairly fine, improving even more as the day progresses.
Bug Report: None to report of this time of year.
Fishing Times: Today the old weather stick is saying that the best times to be out there will be from 10:00 AM – 2:00 PM. Then again from3:00 PM – 5:00 PM. I give it a 2 fish rating out of 4 for catching them. Good Luck!
Around Town: Quiet with all stores slowing down some. Went for a walk yesterday and chatted with a few folks and got to asking about their year. Most said they did quite well including ourselves. So one in reality can’t ask for anything more than that. So my friends enjoy your day, try and get some sunshine entering the old body and breath a good amount of our fresh northern air.
