Good Morning:  We did have a wee bit of rain a day or so ago but nothing that would wet the dust. Plants in the gardens need watering almost every day now. But in-spite of the dry conditions things are growing quite well. Tomatoes are starting to show themselves and pumpkins are getting higher along with the corn. We are eating fresh lettuce every day mixed with garlic scapes. Pretty tasty let me tell ya. Today will take things easy a bit, messed up my back some. Amazing how one can work hard for two or three weeks then just bend over to take the mats out of the car to wash and bang!! out goes the back. So a bit of rest is in order till things settle down. With that enjoy your day and more so enjoy the sunshine. Lots of sun, is the key to good health.

Good Morning:  Nice weather is upon us here in Port Loring Ontario. Gardens are growing leaps and bounds these days. Wife and I are eating fresh lettuce and garlic scapes every day.  Garlic scapes are the flower bud of the garlic plant. The bud is removed in late June to encourage the bulbs to thicken up.  Scapes make a fabulous addition to a flower bouquet, and they are delicious to eat!  Scapes taste just like garlic. They can be used in exactly the same way as garlic in any recipe.  My wife grinds them up, mixes them with a cream-cheese for dipping veggies, or spread on a cracker is great also.  Delicious let me tell you.  Some sell the scapes for more than the garlic itself. If too many scapes you can wrap up in wax paper and freeze for later use.  Have a great day.

Good Morning:  A very nice looking day out there. Heat has left us for a spell with cool dry temperatures making things nice. Great weather for doing some outside work or just sitting around. Good Morning:  Hope all had a great Fathers Day Weekend. My wife and I had a busy weekend with our small store. Folks from all over stopped by purchasing flutes, my lovely wife’s paintings and our books. Shaping up to be a great summer. On another note the vegetable garden is doing real well this year in spite of the heat we been having. I managed to get it hoed up along with hilling the tomatoes, potatoes and celery. Main thing in this heat is water. Enjoy Your Day!

Good Morning:  Been quite busy around the old house here the past week or so. So busy I haven’t had time to be sitting in front of this screen. Seems lots has to be done come spring getting ready for tourists along with caring for our gardens and things. Great time of year though with no complaints.  Also our small store has had a steady stream of customers so far this year picking up items of choice.
