Well nicer looking day than yesterday. When all said and done we had another four inches of snow. So it seems that March came in like a lion, and this year decided to go out like a lion. Weird weather for sure. Temperatures were sitting at -5.6 C | 21.92 F It will remain cool today but then start to warm up. I refuse to wake my snowblower up. This time round, Nature put the white stuff there, Nature can take it away. Highway 522 is bare this morning but wet, travelling should be pretty good other than messing up your vehicle, if you want to go for groceries, or, ? Myself I will stay home, as I Just washed my car and don’t feel a trip to town is worth getting it all dirty, with what ever they put down on the roads these days. Better days lie ahead. I think. With that I am off to put some more wood in the furnace and have a cup of fresh perked coffee with my lovely wife. Enjoy your day! GW
Well spring might be here calendar wise, but looking outside it sure isn’t. At the moment it is snowing and temperatures are quite cool. -2.1 C | 28.22 F I don’t suspect it will warm up much for a day or so. Highway 522 is becoming snow covered so driving won’t be great today. We could see around 2 inches (5.08 cm) of the white stuff. Not enough to wake up my snowblower by no means but still, its spring! Today once again I will be working away in my woodworking shop. The dust from the wood for the past few years has been taking its toll on me. I have tried everything to make it bearable but I guess the writing is on the wall that my woodworking days are slowly coming to an end. I guess it is the price you pay for years of working in a not so good enviorment. But I am not complaining, too much. I do have other avenues to take in life if I so choose. With that I am off to put some more wood in the furnace and shop stove, and have a coffee with my lovely wife. Have a great day. GW
Nice looking day here in Port Loring. Sun is shinning once again. Temperatures are a bit cool sitting at -3.5 C | 25.7 F Cool enough to warrant me lighting up the wood furnace in the house, and shop. Highway 522 is bare and dry. We didn’t get the rain they said we were going to get yesterday. Actually we had some sun off an on for most the day. Today looks like the same. The snow is about half gone or better. Myself I have been working away in the woodworking shop. Making a new head board for our bedroom. It is being made out of Hard-Maple which should be really nice when all said and done. With that I am off for my morning coffee and a bite to eat. Have a great day. GW
Cloudy this morning with temperatures sitting at 5.6 C | 42.08 F It’s a bit warmer today so the snow we have should be melting quite fast. Highway 522 is bare and dry at the moment but it’s suppose to rain later on today. On another note I did manage to get the car washed yesterday and even had enough energy to vacuum the inside. Looks pretty good now. My wife and I even got to sit outside in the sun yesterday soaking up a few rays. I am looking forward to a lot more front porch sittin’ in the coming days. A great looking day here waking up. The sun is shinning once again and other than a touch cool it is shaping up for a nice day. Temperatures were sitting at -6.5 C | 20.3 F It will warm up as the day progresses and even warmer for tomorrow. We should get rid of a bunch of snow by the weekend. Highway 522 is bare and dry which will make traveling good today. My wife and I did go to North Bay yesterday to pick up some things, that our son Karl fixed up for us. It’s great having a family of techs. We then picked up a few items and had lunch at East Side Mario’s. We both had a Budda Burger. A 6 ounce char-grilled patty served with crisp romaine lettuce, tomato and red onion on an ACE® Bakery bun. Topped with your favorite cheese: Provolone, Gorgonzola, Pizza mozzarella, Goat cheese OR Top with two strips of bacon.. My wife added a Caesar salad to make things a bit healthy. LOL I added a bowl of Roasted Garlic Tomato Soup. I have to say it was a delicious meal. Also, the waitresses were very nice. Oh! And a piece of Strawberry Cheese Cake which we shared. It was actually free as it was my wife’s birthday. So great day for sure and the weather was an added plus. Have a great day. GW

Nice looking day here this morning. Sun is shinning, birds are chirping and things are warming up slowly. I see the crows are back from their trip south which is a sure sign spring is on the doorstep. Temperatures waking up were sitting at -2.5 C | 27.5 F They are calling for a bit of snow today along with some snow squalls in certain areas. But the good news is, things will warm up even more tomorrow, so if we do get any it won’t last long. Highway 522 is bare and dry as I type but that could change later on. I would say half of our snow has left us. I have been watching our gardens for the snow drops that we have here and there, but haven’t seen any yet. It won’t be long though, and they will be showing themselves. They are a pretty little flower that is the first to come up in the spring, even if there is snow still on the ground. For a change it is nice and sunny waking up. Temperatures are a touch cool sitting at -11.7 C | 10.94 F It is supposed to warm up later on. Highway 522 is bare and dry this morning, so it should be a great day to head off into North Bay for some groceries. Myself I am going to clean my shop this morning. It seems I can sure make a mess of things over winter. Once finished, I will be ready to get to work on some new projects that I want to make. It’s nice having a place that I can go, to get out of the house after a long cold winter. I do have a stove in there which keeps it nice and warm, but on the cold days the house seems like a better option. With that I am off for my morning cup of coffee with my lovely wife. This morning waking up it is cloudy, cold and quite windy with a few flurries thrown in for good measure. You can expect more of the same for most of the day. You know what they say about Port Loring. If you don’t like the weather, wait fifteen minutes. Temperatures waking up were sitting at -1.5 C | 29.3 F With the wind it feels much colder. I was hoping I would be able to stop burning wood but it isn’t the case for today. Highway 522 is bare as of now but that could change. Great day to stay inside. I did manage to wash the car yesterday, which always makes me smile. Something about washing our car I enjoy, maybe it’s preserving our investment. What ever the reason it’s always nice to be outside when it’s a nice day of course. Another cloudy day waking up with some mist over Lake Wauquimakog. Temperatures were sitting at; 1.7 C | 35.06 F The snow is melting quite fast these days with about half of what we had gone. It will be nice to see it all gone with green entering into the picture. Highway 522 is bare and wet this morning which will make traveling tempting. Myself I am taking life easy as it should be. I was searching through my notes the other day and found that a new study says that Navel oranges can boost your immune system, and aid in skin health. They are also very good for your heart, and there is mounting evidence that suggests eating oranges may help reduce the risk of respiratory diseases, rheumatoid arthritis, different ulcers and kidney stones. The vitamin C in oranges may also boost a person’s immunity which could help with infections like the common cold and ward off flu’s. I kind of figured that. They also found that vitamin C in oranges may help in preventing certain cancers. But as anything, too much of a good thing isn’t always good. One orange a day is all you need. Kind of like the apple saying. An apple a day keeps the doctor away. GW
To start things off it’s cloudy. But on the good side of the coin it is supposed to stay around the 40F/4C for most the day and into tomorrow, which should eliminate a lot more snow. Waking up temperatures were sitting at -1.1 C | 30.02 F Not too bad. Highway 522 is bare and dry throughout for a change, which will make traveling good. On another note my lovely wife and I took a trip to North Bay yesterday for some supplies. It was a nice sunny day, and we actually had to take our winter coat off. The only downside of things was the roads and side streets in North Bay. I have been in a lot of cities but this is one of the worst for pot holes and snow accumulation along the side of the roads. There was one spot that I was thankful we had 4 Wheel drive as the hole I had to go through full of water and ice was a challenge. If I could have gotten turned around I would have, but as it stood there was no other option. Other than that the day was quite nice. We met our son at Casey’s and had lunch together. It was pretty good. I tried their new meat loaf burger, but they put too much thyme and other spices in it, which I didn’t like. My wife had fish and chips but the fries were not the best, and the fish was cod and very greasy. My son had the half turkey club with a bowl of red pepper soup and Caesar- salad, which was great. If we go back, that is what we will have. Live and learn they say. We did have a nice visit with our son though, which is always a pleasure. After that we picked up what was needed and headed on home. Great day, and it was good to get away from the house for a while. Here is a couple pictures of the garlic I planted last year. We had enough to last us all winter, along with sharing some with friends. There is nothing like fresh garlic to give you the energy you need to put out a good days work. It also is a great asset for those suffering from allergies of spring. 1 clove a day is all that is needed. Cooked or eaten raw, either way is beneficial. GW

Here is a picnic table I made for a lady a few years ago. It turned out well and she was happy. I made it out pine, sealed it, and stained it natural with a coat of marine varnish. It should last for years sitting outside. It took two days to cut out and put together. GW
Waking up there is plenty of sunshine to be had for a change. It’s sure nice getting out of bed when the house is full of brightness. Temperatures were sitting at -12.5 C | 9.5 F It is a bit cool but the sunshine should warm things up a bit later on. Tomorrow will be even warmer, with the rest of the week looking more like spring. Highway 522 is bare and dry which will make traveling good. Quiet around town, hardly a car or truck moving up or down the highway. But it is that time of year when folks are taking things easy. Good morning. Well, we did have 1 inch (2.54 cm) of snow through the night. Not enough to wake up my snowblower. Temperatures getting out of bed were sitting at -6.9 C | 19.58 F Which is quite a bit cooler than yesterday. These cooler temperatures will stay with us for another couple days then warm up and if we are really lucky we might see some sunshine with some warmth in it shine down upon us. Highway 522 is pretty well bare this morning, but there are some icy sections so care should be taken. With that I am off to light my wood furnace for the day and will see what unfolds around us.
