It is a really nice day here in Port Loring Ontario, Canada. Sun is shinning, low humidity with temperatures sitting at 18.9 C | 66.02 F. It will warm up a wee bit but all in all, it will be one of the best days so far this summer. For the next week or so things are looking good too. Great weather to do just about anything. Today I will be working in my shop on some orders that came in yesterday and if there is still enough daylight I will continue on with my Flute Making. At the moment I have 25 on the go. Vegetables are at their best right now and certain plants will start winding down for another year. Time sure flies by. Here we are already coming up to August. With that I am off for my morning cup of coffee and a bite to eat, then will see how the day works out. You just never know. Have a great day.
Good Times 11:00 AM- 1:00 PM 3:00 PM-5:00 PM
Slow Times 7:00 PM-9:00 PM
Today it will be a pretty good day for fishing, and will get better if the winds shift to the south or the southwest. I give it a 4 star rating out of 5 for catching a few. Good luck!
Not to bad a day here in Port Loring Ontario Canada. We did have some rain through the night which was needed. My tomatoes are smiling this morning after the rain. Temperatures waking up were sitting at 18.9 C | 66.02 F. It will warm up as the day moves forward with the possibility of a bit more rain. But for most parts we should see sunshine for the remainder of the week. No complaints weather wise are warranted. Even the pesky bugs have eased off. Today I will see about doing some more work on my flutes. Then in the afternoon I will enjoy a cool drink or two on the front porch with my lovely wife. We solve all the worlds problems chatting about things. With that I am off for my morning cup of coffee and then will enjoy the day.
11:00 AM-3:00 PM
Slower Times 7:00 PM-9:00 PM
Today fishing will be a bit slow. The winds are coming in from the South East and if they change to the south it will get better. I give it a 3 star rating out of 5 for catching a few. Good luck and don’t forget your raincoat. You never know what Mother Nature can spring on a person.
We did have some sunshine waking up here in Port Loring Ontario Canada. But it has clouded up since then. Temperatures were sitting at 18.9 C | 66.02 F. Today and tomorrow there is a chance of a thunderstorm and for most parts I suspect it will be partially cloudy. But who really knows what Mother Nature is going to do. We could use some more rain for the gardens. The tourists won’t like the rain I am sure. Yesterday we had a fair day at our store taking a couple small orders, and made some sales, so today I will get busy working on them. Should be nice out there with the clouds moving in. With that I am off for my morning cup of coffee. Have a great day.
Good Times 10:00 AM-2:00 PM
Slower Times 6:00 PM-8:00 PM
Today fishing will be touch and go. I give it a 1 star rating out of 5 this morning and a 2 star rating out of 5 for this afternoon. Winds are coming in from the South East. If the winds change direction to the south or west fishing will improve. Good Luck!
Cloudy morning here in Port Loring. We did have some rain later in the day yesterday and through the night. We sure needed it. No matter how much you water the gardens by hand you can’t match what Mother Nature can do. Seems she puts just what is needed into the water for the plants. Today we should see some sunshine along with warmer temperatures. Then tomorrow we could see a bit more rain. Temperatures waking up were sitting at 18.9 C | 66.02 F. Black Flies are pretty well gone for the year. Horse flies and deer flies are another story. Mosquitoes are with us in the early morning hours and evening hours. Not much you can do about it, it’s summer. With that I am off to do some hoeing in my garden while the air is a touch cool. Then will see what the day has in store for me.
Good Times 9:30 AM-1:00 PM Slow Times 5:00 PM-7:30 PM
Not to bad a day getting out of bed. Cooled down a touch with temperatures sitting at 18.9 C | 66.02 F. Today it will be mostly cloudy, a possible shower or thunderstorm late this afternoon. It will also get a touch warm. Yesterday we went to North Bay for some items, had lunch with our son Karl at East Side Mario’s and came home. Was a great day actually. Stores were really busy with lots of line-ups at the checkouts. You would almost think it is a Holiday and no one was working. Sign of the times. Today I will get back to working on my Flutes. Seems I was distracted lately. Gardens are still looking good and my wife and I are eating fresh veggies every day. I always remember my old Dad saying. “George eat things in season, do that and you stay healthy. ” Makes sense. So with that I am off for my morning cup of coffee and will let the day unfold around me. You just never know what might occur throughout a day.
9:30 AM- 12:30 PM
Slow Times 4:00 PM-7:00 PM
Today fishing won’t be the greatest. I give it a 2 star rating out of 5 for catching a few. But as I always say you never know. The winds are coming in from the South east, if it changes direction a bit, fishing will pick up some. Good Luck!
Didn’t get onto my computer yesterday. Decided that I would go fishing with my fishing buddy Barry. We left early in the morning. Had a great day and caught some nice fish. Got home around 3 PM. I will post a picture of our catch a bit later. On another note, we all woke up to sunshine here in Port Loring Ontario this morning. Temperatures were sitting at 16.4 C | 61.52 F. It will warm up considerably as the day moves forward and stay warm for today and tomorrow then cool down a touch. Not complaining mind ya after the winter we had. Today I will do a bit of mowing around the house here and then maybe some weeding in the gardens. I never pull weeds I cut weeds as that way they add more nourishment to the soil which at this time of year is needed. With that I am off for my morning cup of coffee.

Well another beautiful day here in Port Loring Ontario Canada. It can stay like this for the rest of the summer. Temperatures were great for sleeping and at the time of this post it was sitting at 16.1 C | 60.98 F. It will warm up a wee bit but for most of the week it should be quite nice. Near the end of the week we will be back into some hot weather with high humidity. Black flies are all but gone, mosquitoes are still with us but not as bad. Horse and Deer flies are annoying to say the least. So what can we do? Nothing. Today I will be working once again on my flutes. I am starting to see some progress. For the first few days it seems I do nothing LOL The reason for this is there is so many steps you have to do to get to where you see anything worthwhile. It is a great way to learn patience. So with that I am off for my morning coffee. Have a great day. GW

Today fishing won’t be the greatest I give it a 2 star rating out of 5 for catching a few. But as I always say you never know. If you are in the right spot at the right time, you will have fish for supper. The winds are coming in from the North East this morning. If it changes the fishing will get better. Good Luck!
A few clouds waking up here in Port Loring Ontario Canada. Temperatures were nice through the night so everyone should have had a great sleep. Waking up temperatures were sitting at 16.7 C | 62.06 F. It will warm up a bit as the day progresses. It won’t be as warm as it has been, which is fine with me. As it stands, the whole week is looking good weather wise. My vegetable garden is growing leaps and bounds these days putting fresh vegetables on the table daily. What could be better than that. Today I will get back to working on my Flutes. I enjoy it out there when the weather is nice and can have the doors open. Lots of folks were dropping by to have a look see which is nice. The store was quite busy over the weekend. My wife is busy painting sign orders along with a few other things. She is one busy lady this year. With that I am off for my morning cup of coffee and then get to making sawdust.

Today the old weather stick says it should be a fair day for fishing. I give it a 3 star rating out of 5 for catching a few. It could get better if the wind switches to the south. At the moment it is coming in from the South East. Good luck!
Beautiful day here waking up. Sun is shinning and not as warm. Humidity has left us, so a great looking day is upon us. Temperatures were sitting at 18.9 C | 66.02 F. It will warm up as the day moves forward. Great day to do some outside work. Vegetable gardens are looking good now after the rain so that makes me smile. Tomatoes have also grown a half a foot with lots of green ones getting larger. I did take my grass cuttings last week from mowing and put around them. Today I will hill them up, meaning pulling the soil up around them. That is a trick my old dad did years ago when he was alive. He used to plant around twenty acres of them every year for market. Everyone loved his tomatoes. Today I have some inside work to do then will get back to my Flutes in the woodworking shop. It was just to hot out to be in the shop yesterday. Then this afternoon I will do some front porch sitting with my lovely wife with a cool one. I know … it’s a tough life, but someone has to take advantage of it. With that I am off for my morning coffee and let the day unfold around me.

Today fishing won’t be the greatest I give it a 2 star rating out of 5 for catching a few. Winds are coming in from the North West this morning. Good Luck!
We did have some sunshine early this morning then clouds rolled in. Today we will see some sun and clouds for most the day with maybe some rain thrown in for good measure. It will be very humid and hot. Great day to take it a bit easy. After all, it is the weekend. We did see some rain through the night, not much but every bit helps. Mosquitoes like this kind of weather. Yesterday we headed into town for some supplies that we can’t get here in town. It was a great trip but every store was lined up at the check outs. I guess that is a good sign. People spending money. We then went for supper with our son Karl at Lot 88. Great place to eat other than being a touch expensive. But once in a while we like to splurge. Just because we can. My lovely wife and Karl ordered a bottle of Woodbridge, U.S.A CABERNET SAUVIGNON to start things off. A light white wine. Very tasty to say the least. Let’s just say none went to waste. For the main meal my wife and Karl had :
Glazed Chicken & Ribs Grilled chicken breast, pineapple glaze, half rack, Lot 88 BBQ sauce and a Caesar salad.
Myself I had a : Lot 88 Burger A prime rib patty, egg, aged Canadian cheddar, apple wood bacon, onion strings, ancho aioli and Caesar salad.
After that we picked up some groceries, did a bit of running around to other stores, chatted and arrived back home at 9:00 PM. Then we checked what we spent, looked at each other and went to bed. LOL Today I am going to take things a bit easy being so hot. Tomorrow I will get back to my shop work. With that I am off for my morning coffee.
The best Times 3:30 PM-6::00 PM Fair Times 9:00 AM-11:00 AM Today fishing won’t be the greatest with the rain we had last night and it being so hot. I give it a 1 Star Rating out of 5 for catching a few. Good Luck though if you do head out, and make sure you have a rain coat. Seems things like that are easy to forget, other than the net.
Once again we have sunshine waking up here in Port Loring Ontario. The good news is we did have a nice rain through the night. I think my plants in the vegetable garden grew a foot. They all look nice and refreshed this morning. Temperatures stayed warm through the night and into this morning. Getting out of bed they were sitting at 23 C | 73.4 F. It will be a really hot day today getting warmer as the day moves forward. We could see some more rain with all this heat. A little more wouldn’t hurt, as the trees and things could use it. Mother Nature looks after her own. Being so hot care should be taken if out in the sun for any length of time. I put our open sign up every morning and there is one huge old horse fly that I think sits out there waiting for me, as he bugs me every morning until I am back in the house. One of these days he might just happen to meet his maker. So with them few words the horse and deer flies are still with us annoying at times. Mosquitoes are still around too but not as bad with this heat. The black flies are all but gone in most areas. Today I will be back in the woodworking shop working on my Flutes. I might only work a half a day today it being so warm. Just because I can. With that I am off for my morning cup of coffee with my lovely wife. GW

Well another sunny day here waking up. Few clouds but otherwise quite nice. It did cool down through the night so sleeping was more pleasant. Seems I can take the heat through the day but at nights, I like cool sheets. Temperatures were sitting at 20.6 C | 69.08 F. It will warm up a lot as the day moves forward. We do have a good chance of some rain or a thunderstorm through today and into tomorrow. I hope so we sure need it. Besides that I am tired of carrying water for my garden. But I do know if I don’t, we won’t have any fresh veggies for the table. The hot weather will end on Sunday and next week is looking nice. With Nature one has to take what comes along. Yesterday I worked all day in the woodworking shop and attending customers. We have had a steady stream of customers for the past few weeks which has kept my wife and I busy. Nice to see. Today I will again be working in the shop, I finished up most of my orders and now can concentrate on my flutes. I want to get them finished before the cold weather hits. It takes me around two to three months to finish them from start to finish. So with that stay cool, and I am off for my morning cup of coffee on the front porch. Then I will see what mischief I can get myself into.

It has the possibility of being a great day for fishing with the way the weather is looking. I give it a 4 Star Rating out of 5 for catching a few. It might pay to take a raincoat along with you and be prepared to get to shore if the sky darkens. The wind is coming in from the South East.
Good morning. The sun is shinning once again waking up, which makes things much nicer. A light breeze is coming in from the North with temperatures sitting at 18.9 C | 66.02 F. There is a slight chance of a thunderstorm later on in the day. But for most parts it will be pretty nice. On the flip side it will be quite warm and will continue till the weekend. I am hoping we do have some rain as the gardens and things sure need a drink. Today I will be in the shop working on a few orders and my Flutes. Lots to do these days. But it’s what I enjoy doing so no complaints. If it gets to hot I will stop for the day and enjoy a cool one on the front porch. Now and then I like to bug my lovely wife. Seems we can chat about anything for hours. And you know? We are good at it. With that I am off for my morning cup of coffee and a bite to eat. Then will see what develops. Have a great day! It’s all in how you make it.

Us humans woke up to a few clouds this morning here in Port Loring, Ontario, Canada. We also had a touch of rain through the night but not enough to wet the ground. Today we will see clouds and sunshine. Tomorrow there is a slight risk of a thunderstorm. With these hot humid Florida like temperatures we could get anything. But for most parts it is looking like a not so bad week. It will be quite warm though and humid today. Temperatures waking up were sitting at 21.3 C | 70.34 F. Black Flies are pretty well all gone. Mosquitoes are still with us but not as bad. Horse and deer flies are another story. If you are near the bush they find you. On another note it looks like I might have to carry some water for my gardens with it being so dry. Today I will be working in the shop once again. Took me all day to set up for making Flutes. Lots involved in their making. With that I am off for my morning cup of coffee and will let the day unfold around me.
Fishing Times For Port Loring
I would think it will be a good day for fishing by the looks of my old weather stick, wind direction and barometer. I give it a 5 Star Rating out of 5. Good Luck!
Great looking day waking up. Sun is shinning and the birds were all enjoying themselves outside my bedroom window. Cars and trucks are manoeuvring up and down the highway with even the odd plane flying over our home. Yep summer is here along with the tourists. Nice to see folks entering back into the picture. Temperatures were sitting at 17.6 C | 63.68 F. By the looks of things we are in for a very hot week with only a slight chance of rain mid week. We do need rain. On another note we did have a busy day yesterday at our store. Folks dropped by to pick up a few things along with friends coming in to say hi letting us know they are back for the summer. You could say it was a talking day. Today I will be working on some small orders and things. Once they are finished I will get back to working on my Flutes. Lot of tedious work making them. After three in the afternoon it is front porch sittin’ time. Why is that? Just because I can. With that I am off for a cup of coffee and then get on with my chores.

Major Times 12:00PM-3:00 PM Slow Times 7:00PM-9:00 PM Today fishing will be pretty good. With this heat that is coming things might slow down. But hey! Fish have a way of defying humans thinking. I give it a 3 Star Rating out of 5 for catching a few nice ones. Good Luck!
A few clouds waking up here in Port Loring Ontario Canada. Temperatures were sitting at 16.6 C | 61.88 F. We will see more sunshine as the day progresses. Actually it will be a really nice day all way round. Black flies are all but gone, the mosquitoes are still with us. But this dry warm weather takes a toll on them. Today I will finish up some small orders for folks then I am thinking some front – porch sittin’ is the thing to do. It’s hard not to take advantage of this nice weather. I also have to water my vegetables as it is quite dry. The old saying is: You have to give to get. Seems that is correct in some ways. With that I am off for my morning cup of coffee and let the day unfold around me. GW

With the wind coming in from the south it will be touch an go for fishing today. They should be hiding under the Lilly pads or around logs with the water being so warm. I give it a 3 Star rating out of 5 for catching a few. Good Luck!
Another beauty of a day here in Port Loring. We had a few clouds waking up, but they are slowly leaving us bringing in the sunshine. Temperatures overnight were great for sleeping and at the time of this post they were sitting at 18 C | 64.4 F. Black Flies are all but gone they still linger in the bush areas. Mosquitoes are another story them blood sucking parasites are still annoying. Working in my shop they got on my nerves a touch yesterday, till I turned on the big shop vac with the six-inch hose and, well that made short work of them. After that, I put a fan on my bench blowing them back out the door. Works great. The old saying is if there is a will there is a way. True in some respects. Our vegetable gardens are growing leaps and bounds these days with fresh veggies every day for the table. Today I will be working in the shop on orders once again. Nice to be able to work out there with the doors open. Lots of folks dropping by these days picking up items of choice at our store. I would have to say it is the busiest year we have had in a lot of years, especially for flutes, my books, paintings and custom signs. Not complaining mind ya. With that I am off for my morning cup of coffee and will see what mischief I can get myself into. GW
Cloudy morning waking up here in Port Loring Ontario Canada. Actually cool this morning, with temperatures sitting at 15.2 C | 59.36 F. The reason for the coolness is the wind is coming in from the North West. Things will warm up some in a bit, with sunshine entering into the picture. We did have a wee bit more rain which was needed. Under the trees though it is still dry. My tomatoes are starting to take shape … but it will be a few more weeks before we get to taste one or two. This year I put in a row of low acid ones. I got them started from some seeds that I brought with me seventeen years ago. Should be interesting to see how they taste. I do know when we had the farms years ago they were a good seller. Time will tell. Another thing that amazes me is how old these seeds are, and they still germinated and grew into some nice plants. You never know with Nature let me tell you. Today I will be working in the woodworking shop as I have a couple orders to fill along with another sign I need to cut out for my lovely wife. People sure love her signs, I can’t say I blame them as they all turn out beautiful. With that I am off for a bite to eat and then let it settle with a cup of organic perked coffee. GW
No sunshine so far this morning in Port Loring Ontario Canada. But the good news is we did have a bit of rain which my vegetable garden needed badly. I think things grew a foot overnight. It never ceases to amaze me what Mother Nature can do. As hard as we try to do things, Mother Natures makes it look easy. Of course, she can cause havoc too if we aren’t prepared. Temperatures waking up were sitting at 21.7 C | 71.06 F. Actually quite warm for this early in the morning. We could see a couple of morning showers; otherwise, clouds will slowly leave us making way for some sun. We also have a nice breeze coming in from the 298 deg | WNW. On another note I will see about doing some mowing in a bit. The grass though has slowed down some which is fine by me. With that … I am for my morning cup of perked coffee and will just let the day do as it wants. Seems to do that anyways. LOL
Another sunny day here in Port Loring Ontario Canada. Seems to be a trend these days. Waking up temperatures were sitting at 15.3 C | 59.54 F. It will warm up as the day moves forward. We could use some rain though as our vegetable gardens are pretty dry. I have been watering daily but it isn’t the same as what mother nature can do. But it’s better than nothing. On another note the lettuce is growing leaps and bounds. The Romaine lettuce is great this year as the Boston lettuce. Kale is being held back a touch but it is coming along. It might be a good thing, as it then will last into the late fall. Zucchini is all out in blossom yellow and green. I enjoy it made into spaghetti and covered with a nice tomato sauce made from the low acid tomatoes covered with cheese. Pretty tasty let me tell you. Today I will do some work in the shop on orders. Lots to keep this old feller out of trouble. The wife seems to think that is a good idea. Not sure why. LOL With that I am off for my morning coffee. GW
We all woke up to sunshine this morning here in Port Loring. Should be no complaints weather wise. Temperatures were sitting at 14C/56F. It will warm up as the day progresses. Black Flies are almost all gone, but there is a few around in some areas. Mosquitoes are another story, as them blood sucking parasites are everywhere at the moment. The horse and deer flies are also bothering a person too. But hey! It’s summer and as bad as they are it is still a lot better than all that snow and cold weather we have had. On another note I would like thank Janet and Frank for dropping by on Sunday. I hope you enjoy your sign you ordered and your new Flute. You asked what you should do to the sign? Nothing just leave it the way it is and it will last for years. The Flute as good as it is now, will only get better as time goes by. Why? Because it is made out of air dried wood and as it ages things start to sound nicer. It’s kind of like a fine wine. The longer it ages the nicer it gets. That’s true too. With that I am off to my shop I have some orders to get ready. After that it is Front Porch Sittin’ time. Rough life huh! GW
A great looking day out there starting things off. Sun is shining and a light breeze coming in from the East. Not as hot. Temperatures will rise a wee bit, but we should see sunshine all day. Getting out of bed temperatures were sitting at 13.8 C | 56.84 F. Black Flies are gone for most areas and Mosquitoes are slowing down with this heat we been having. So all in all a great weekend. About time too. On another note I would like to thank Judy, Sandra, Jackie and Julian for dropping by our store yesterday. I hope you girls all enjoy your Flutes. As I say to everyone that buys one … if you have any issues at all, feel free to drop by or Email me and I will be more than happy to help you. In reality there should be no problems. With that I am off for my morning cup of coffee and will let the day unfold around me. A great day for some front porch Sittin’ and remember. The great pleasure in life is doing what people say you cannot do. GW
