News For Port Loring

Went out fishing yesterday with my good friend Barry and have to say we had a great day.  Hooked onto some nice pickerel and a good size bass.  Great day to be out on the lakes, let me tell ya.  Hoping to get out a bit more this month too.  New boat I got, or should say old boat fixed up to a fisherman’s dream, is working out just fine. Named her….Earth Spirit. Kind of fitting we thought. Put some walkways on the old trailer too and have say it sure has made quite a big difference loading the old girl. Actual pleasure loading it now.  Also nice to have a second set of hands and Barry is a Pro.  Great fisherman too.  Well tea time here, just pulled a fresh dandelion and wife is making us our morning talk a tea.  Do that every morning before breakfast. No better way to help ones body, let me tell ya.  Also builds one up for the cold winter days, which are not to far off and fends off pretty well most of all them nasty colds and flus that others like to pass around.  No Flu Shot Needed.  Don’t believe in them, never had one.  Enjoy your day my friends.

WAKE UP CANADA !!!!

Entitlement  my ass, I paid cash for my Old Age Security and CPP!!!! Just because they borrowed the  money, doesn’t make my benefits some kind of  charity or handout !! Gold plated MP pensions and Civil Service Government  benefits,  aka free health care, outrageous retirement  packages, 67 paid holidays, 20 weeks paid  vacation, unlimited paid sick days, now that’s  welfare, and they have the nerve to call me a ‘greedy senior’ and my  retirement, an entitlement  !!!!!!…..scroll  down…………….

What  the Hell’s wrong with us???

WAKE  UP CANADA !!!!

Someone please tell  me what the HELL’s wrong with all the people  that run this country!!!!!!

We’re “broke”  & can’t help our own Seniors, Veterans,  Orphans, Homeless  etc.,???????????
But spent 1.2 billions of dollars for G-20 events!
In the  last few months we have provided aid to Haiti ,  Chile , and Turkey . And now Khanistan ,  Pakistan …… Home of bin Laden.   Literally, BILLIONS of our DOLLARS!!!

Our  retired seniors living on a ‘fixed income’  receive no aid nor do they get any breaks while  our government and religious organizations pour  Hundreds of Billions of $$$$$$’s and Tons of  Food to Foreign  Countries!
They  call Old Age Security and Healthcare an  entitlement even though most of us have been  paying for it all our working lives and now when  it’s time for us to collect, the government is  running out of money. Why did the government  borrow from it in the first  place?
We have  hundreds of adoptable children who are shoved  aside to make room for the adoption of foreign  orphans.

CANADA:  a country where we have homeless without  shelter,  children going to bed hungry, hospitals being closed, average income families who can’t afford dental care, elderly going without ‘needed’ meds and having to travel 100’s of miles for medical care with no reimbursement of cost, vehicles we can’t afford gas for, lack of affordable housing, and mentally  ill without treatment – etc., etc.

YET…..
They  have a ‘Benefit’  for the people of Haiti  ships and planes lining up with food, water,  tents, clothes, bedding, doctors, and medical  supplies.

Imagine if  the *GOVERNMENT* gave ‘US’ the same support they  give to other countries.

Sad  isn’t it?

ARGYLE RIDERS NEWS LETTER
Hello to All:
The Argyle Riders will be holding our 19TH Annual Cornfest  on September 1st, 2012 – starting at 2:00 p.m. once again at the Arnstein Community Center.  Special thanks to our Local Services Board for allowing us the use of the Community Park.  Our usual fabulous fare of beef on a bun, beans and corn on the cob and a well stocked bar will be available.
We are HOPING to have the helicopter back again this year – IF they can be available, for those of you who are interested in a Helicopter ride – they will be at the Community Center at 12:00 noon – so come early to book your flight.  Last year the helicopter rides ended early when black clouds and rain threatened the safety – lets hope for a perfect day this year.  We will know closer to the date whether or not the helicopter will be available – so feel free to call Jake (705) 7275-2012 to check.
We will be offering local vendors the opportunity to set up displays for goods and services at the site.  We will be offering shuttle service to and from the Cornfest.  Arrangements can be made for pickup and return trips by calling Kerry Booth at (705) 757-3450 (bus) or (705) 757-2290 (home).
We will have our usual games of chance (50/50 raffle) and our famous Pegboard (lots of nice prizes this year).  Last year the silent auction went over so well that we have decided to focus on another one for this year and hope to have some fantastic prizes.
Entertainment will be provided by the Cats & Jammers through the afternoon until 10 pm or until they get tired !!  lots of fun guaranteed with this gang.
The price of admission is the same as before $12.00 at the gate and $10.00 advance with advance tickets available until Aug 25th at Argyle Fuels, Jakes Place or by contacting Betty Webb at (705) 757- 2504.  Those buying advance tickets will be entered into an early bird draw for a prize valued at $200.00 so get your tickets early.   Enclosed are raffle tickets for a BBQ and second prize is a gazebo – thank you to Rob at Port Loring Home Hardware.

You can fill out your raffle tickets and mail them to us with the money if you cannot attend the Cornfest – by August 26th – or bring them with you to enter in the draw at the gate.
Note:  No pets , weapons or coolers please

On the snowmobile scene there has been an increase of $10 in the cost for permits  – to $210.00 if purchased before Dec1st and $260.00 after Dec 1st.  Permits will be available some time in September – so buy early and save – just get it out of the way so you don’t forget.  The Snow insurance Guarantee has been scrapped , wonder why ?

The Argyle Riders are in the process of re-decking the bridge at Wellers Folly.  This is a major undertaking and will involve considerable expense, however,  this is a scenic part of our trail system and we will endeavor to make this a success.
