Joke Of The Day

Caller One – Wrong number?
Dispatcher: 911 What is the nature of your emergency?
Caller: I’m trying to reach nine eleven but my phone doesn’t have an eleven on it.

Dispatcher: This is nine eleven.
Caller: I thought you just said it was nine-one-one

Dispatcher: Yes, ma’am nine-one-one and nine-eleven are the same thing.
Caller: Honey, I may be old, but I’m not stupid.

Roundup Herbicide, Not Good

I have been saying this for years that what ever we put on the ground, around our plants, it will eventually get into us humans.   We should have never been putting these things on or in our soil.  Just one more reason to start growing your own produce and putting away for winter.  Also don’t forget my new gardening book coming out this spring. It is loaded with items that can help in getting you started in growing your own veggies. Take a look at this article below.  Kind of just says what I have been saying for years.

Roundup is the world`s most popular herbicide used to control weeds all over the planet and is omnipresent in the food chain of animals and humans. Roundup is claimed to have an active ingredient known as glyphosate (G) and said to be safe for humans even though plants are readily killed. In a first of its kind published study,  researchers recently sought to examine the toxicity of four popular G-based herbicide formulations on human placental cells, kidney cells, embryonic cells and neonate umbilical cord cells and surprisingly found total cell death of each of these cells within 24 hours. In other words it is slowly making us humans sick.  Has to be. just common sense should tell us that.

Good Old Tomatoes

I have always said the more tomatoes one eats the better health wise he or she will be. Just another reason to get out there this coming spring and get to planting your own veggie garden.  Also look for my new gardening book coming out this spring. Its a good one.

An edible film based on simple tomato puree might be able to protect foods from contamination by E. coli and other bacteria, according to a study conducted by researchers from the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Agriculture Research Service and the Western Regional Research Centre, Processed Foods, and published in the Journal of Food Science.

“Consumption of tomatoes, tomato products and isolated bioactive tomato ingredients is reported to be associated with lowered risk of cancer, heart disease, diabetes and hypertension,” they said.

Joke Of The Day

A nursery school teacher was observing her classroom of children while they were drawing. She would occasionally walk around to see each child's work.

As she got to little Sarah who was working diligently, she asked what the drawing was. Sarah replied, "I'm drawing God." The teacher paused and said, "But no one knows what God looks like."

Sarah replied, "They will in a minute"

Beef and Mushroom Stew, Hmmm Good!

Serves 4-6

Green olives provide extra color for this fragrant dish.

  • 2-1/2 pounds beef chuck, cubed
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 carrots, peeled and sliced
  • 1 onion, sliced
  • 1 bay leaf
  • 2 sprigs thyme
  • 2 sprigs rosemary
  • 2 cups dry red wine
  • 1/2 pound salt pork, diced
  • 3 tablespoons flour
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 1/2 pound mushrooms, sliced
  • 1/4 cup sliced green olives
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Combine beef, garlic, carrots, onion, bay leaf, thyme, rosemary, and wine in large bowl. Cover and marinate overnight in refrigerator. Stir once or twice. Fry salt pork in oven-proof casserole until crisp. Remove with slotted spoon and set aside. Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Strain meat and vegetables, reserving marinade. Cook meat and vegetables in salt pork fat 10 minutes, stirring until meat is browned on all sides. Sprinkle with flour, stir to coat evenly, and add marinade. Continue stirring until mixture is smooth. If necessary, add water or water and wine until meat is covered with liquid. Bake, covered, 1 hour. Remove meat from sauce; strain out and discard vegetables. Return meat and sauce to casserole. Melt butter in small frying pan and sauté mushrooms 2 minutes. Add mushrooms to meat and sauce and bake, covered, 30 minutes. Add olives, stir, and cook 5 minutes. Season with salt and pepper. If desired, garnish stew with reserved salt pork.

Garlic and Colds

Sheesh!  I have been saying this for over thirty years.  And it’s just being looked at today?  Hmmmm.

People who eat raw garlic, just one clove a day, will catch fewer common colds than people who do not. Studies have determined that eating raw garlic as it contains allicin will reduce one’s risk of contracting a cold by approximately 50 percent. I would have to say even more than 50% and it doesn’t just stop there.  Garlic is sooooooooo good for you..  One thing.  Just make sure it is grown here in Canada, or better yet grow your own.  It’s one of the easiest plants to grow.

Watch for my new gardening book coming out this spring. It’s much more than just a gardening book though, one would have to get one to see what I am saying.  Or just ask.

Food From Cloned Animals

Just one more reason to grow your own.  And for those that ask me.  Well I would have to say make darn sure you know what you are buying in the grocery stores, before you bring it home for your family, no matter how cheap it is.

The FDA has admitted that meat and milk from the offspring of cloned mammals such as cows, pigs, goats and sheep could very well have already entered the food supply in the United States.

“It is theoretically possible,” agency spokesperson Siobhan DeLancey said.

In January, the FDA declared that foods derived from cloned animals and their offspring were safe for human consumption. The U.S. Department of Agriculture, however, asked food companies to voluntarily maintain a ban on products from clones.

The voluntary ban did not extend to the offspring of cloned animals.

Clones are organisms artificially developed directly from the DNA of a single organism, rather than the mixing that is difficult in sexual reproduction. They are made by implanting the nucleus of an adult cell into an egg cell, which is then incubated by a surrogate mother.

According to critics of the technology, very little research has been conducted on the safety of consuming meat or dairy products from clones or their offspring, thus making it premature to bring such products to market.

“It worries me that this technology is out of control in so many ways,” said Charles Margulis of the Center for Environmental Health. He said that the FDA’s announcement that clones’ offspring might already been food supply “is just another element of that.”

A number of major U.S. food producers have announced that they will not use any ingredients derived from cloned animals, due in part to safety concerns. Companies enforcing a ban on clone products include Smithfield Foods, General Mills, Campbell Soup, Nestle, California Pizza Kitchen, Supervalu, Kraft Foods and Tyson Foods, the largest meat company in the United States.

Kraft said that consumer demand influenced its decision.

“Research in the United States indicates that consumers are currently not receptive to ingredients from cloned animals,” said Director of Corporate Affairs Susan Davison.

How To Collect and Store Seeds From Your Gardens

ALso don’t forget to look for my new gardening book which is coming out this spring.

Step1 Select plants that you wish to save early in the season. Look for plants with healthy growth habits, abundant flowers or exceptional flavor.
Step2
Allow some faded flowers to remain on the plant toward the end of the growing season. The end of the bloom cycle is triggered by shorter daylight hours. Seeds will begin to form as flower production comes to an end.
Step3
Harvest seeds when the seed heads are dry to the touch and brown. Gather seed pods by hand or with clippers if stems are tough.
Step4
Allow vegetables to over-ripen on the plant before harvesting the seeds. Vegetable seeds are ready to harvest when the fruit is easy to pull off the plant. Beans should be dry and rattle inside their seed casings. Corn should ripen and dry on the stalk. Tomato seeds can be squeezed out of very ripe fruit and dried on paper towels in the sun.
Step5
After harvesting, place seeds on top of a water heater to dry for up to one week. Allow to dry thoroughly before storing.
Step6
Store seeds in their own protective pods or shake them free and store loose in paper envelopes. Harvested seeds should be kept in paper, never plastic, containers. Plastic may cause delicate seeds to rot.
Step7
Label each seed envelope with the variety and date harvested. Use a waterproof pen to avoid disappointment and confusion later on.
Step8
Place the labeled envelopes inside an air-tight container, such as a mason jar, and store in a cool, dry location until the next planting season. A desiccant made of 1 tablespoon powdered milk wrapped in a paper towel and placed inside the container will help absorb moisture.

Fluorescent Light Bulbs

I’ve been warning Folks about CFLs for years. It’s not only the fact that they cause headaches and skin problems, it’s also the fact that they contain mercury vapor, which is highly toxic to the nervous system if inhaled.

Compact fluorescent light bulbs are filling home and office environments with dangerous electromagnetic pollution, causing devastating health effects on some people. Neurologists are increasingly taking notice of the headaches and migraines being reported by people exposed to compact fluorescent light bulbs.

So what should you do in your home? Don’t buy compact fluorescent light bulbs! Buy LED lights and you’ll earn back the entire cost of the lights in just a couple of years due to savings on electricity expenditures. If you can’t afford LEDs, stick with regular incandescent light bulbs until a better solution comes along.

High cholesterol

Makes One Think Huh???  Also, don’t forget my new gardening book which is coming out this spring. Sure wouldn’t want you folks to miss it!

People with high cholesterol live the longest. This statement seems so incredible that it takes a long time to clear one´s brainwashed mind to fully understand its importance. Yet the fact that people with high cholesterol live the longest emerges clearly from many scientific papers. Consider the finding of Dr. Harlan Krumholz of the Department of Cardiovascular Medicine at Yale University, who reported in 1994 that old people with low cholesterol died twice as often from a heart attack as did old people with a high cholesterol.1 Supporters of the cholesterol campaign consistently ignore his observation, or consider it as a rare exception, produced by chance among a huge number of studies finding the opposite.

But it is not an exception; there are now numerous findings that contradict the lipid hypothesis. To be more specific, most studies of old people have shown that high cholesterol is not a risk factor for coronary heart disease. This was the result of my search in the Medline database for studies addressing that question.2 Eleven studies of old people came up with that result, and a further seven studies found that high cholesterol did not predict all-cause mortality either.

Now consider that more than 90 % of all cardiovascular disease is seen in people above age 60 also and that almost all studies have found that high cholesterol is not a risk factor for women.2 This means that high cholesterol is only a risk factor for less than 5 % of those who die from a heart attack.

But there is more comfort for those who have high cholesterol; six of the studies found that total mortality was inversely associated with either total or LDL-cholesterol, or both. This means that it is actually much better to have high than to have low cholesterol if you want to live to be very old.

Growing Your Own Produce. It’s Easy!

Choose some vegetables that are easy to grow, store well and that you like to eat. Some suggestions are varieties of dried bean, green bean, onion, broccoli, cauliflower, sugar snap peas, and carrots. You could also try your hand at tomatoes, although you will need to learn how to can them. Dried beans are about the easiest to store. In most cases, you can leave them dry right on the plant and then harvest them at the end of the season. Onions are easy too. Green beans, broccoli, cauliflower and sugar snap peas can be blanched and frozen in freezer bags. Carrots can stay in the ground until early winter. Freezing vegetables is not the ideal way of storing food due to the reliance of a powered (electric or gas) freezer, but it’s an easy way to get started.

.

Becoming Self-Sufficient

One of the first steps that you can take to become self-sufficient is to start a vegetable garden. In doing so, you will not only practice self-sufficiency, but you will also eat healthier. The key is to start small. Don’t overwhelm yourself by planting a huge garden. There’s a learning curve here, so don’t try to do everything in one year. Take your time with it and get a good understanding of what it takes to grow a vegetable garden.

I would also like to mention, that my gardening book will be published early in the spring of this year.

Article 4 On Global Warming

The Last of the article on Global Warming.  Kind of makes a fellow think.

GLOBAL RAID ON AMERICAN WEALTH

But perhaps you still are not convinced. Maybe you still cling to the idea that such drastic action is necessary – that our president and the UN delegates are really in a panic over global warming and are trying to find a solution.

Then ask yourselves why the treaty will only bind developed nations to its draconian emission levels.

You see, only developed industrial nations will be bound by the treaty.

Undeveloped Third-World nations will be free to produce whatever they want. These will include China, India, Brazil and Mexico. And guess what? 82% of the projected emissions growth in coming years is from these countries.

Now ask yourself, if the Climate Change Protocol is all about protecting the environment – then how come it doesn’t cover everybody? The truth, of course, is that the treaty is really about redistribution of the wealth.

The wealth of the United States is and has always been the target. The new scheme to grab the loot is through environmental scare tactics.

If, today, you were to attend a UN session on the Climate Change Protocol you would find yourself in a discussion with excited delegates from Third-World countries. They would make comments to you like, “when the technology transfer takes place my country will begin producing this or that item.”

Translation – when the United States is stupid enough to fall for this scheme, the third world will take up the slack and get rich.

And international corporations, who owe allegiance to no nation, will bolt America and move their factories, lock, stock and computer chip, to those Third-World countries where they will be free to carry on production.

But that means the same emissions will be coming out of the jungles of South America instead of Chicago.

So where is the protection of the environment? You see it’s not about that – is it?

Still not convinced? One more thing. Hidden in the small print of the treaty is a provision that calls for the “harmonizing of patent laws.”

Now, robbing a nation of its patent protection is an interesting tactic for protecting the environment, don’t you think?

CAN IT BE STOPPED?

Bill Clinton, pushed by Al Gore and the massive green lobby, is determined to sign that treaty. The war has been engaged.

Industry is finally beginning to wake up to the terrifying threat of the green monster that it helped to create. For the past three decades industry has given into every outrageous green demand. And it has fueled the monster by filling green coffers with massive tax-deductible donations. Now industry finds itself trapped.

But more frightening is the fact that many prominent proponents of property rights and limited government still fail to see the danger in the treaty. Many say the Senate will never ratify such a treaty.

They point out that, in a vote of 95-0, the U.S. Senate rejected in a “non-binding” resolution the Climate Change Protocol. That overwhelming vote, they say, will stop Clinton in his tracks.

That resolution was presented by Senator Robert Byrd of West Virginia. He, along with Congressman John Dingle of Michigan have led the opposition against the treaty. Republican leadership, so far, has been silent.

It is, of course, commendable that Senator Byrd and Congressman Dingle have taken the lead to do “something” to protect American interests. But both of them are established liberal Democrats, who have based their opposition solely on the fact that only industrial nations are tied to the treaty.

That’s not fair, they say, and so they oppose the treaty – “as now written.” Apparently they are taking the stand that if America must be enslaved, then it’s only fair that the rest of the world share our misery.

Not once have they said the whole concept is wrong. Not once have they challenged the validity of the science that is based on the supposed fact of global warming.

Is this then the wall of defense that we are to hide behind? Are we now to entrust the very future of our Republic onto the shoulders of Senator Byrd and Congressman Dingle? That appears to be the current wisdom of our leaders on Capitol Hill.

Wary Americans, of course, know what will happen next. The story is all too familiar. Very soon Clinton will summon Byrd and Dingle to the White House and offer them a compromise. Then everyone will smile for the cameras and the Republicans, in the spirit of bipartisanship, will give away the store. In fact, that process has already begun.

So Bill Clinton is moving full-speed-ahead with his plan to travel to Kyoto, Japan this December to sign the Climate Change Protocol. When he does, and after the Senate has ratified it, the final blow will have been struck.

The United States of America will begin a long, agonizing decent – strangled by its own hand.

The question now is; can it be stopped? And more importantly, will we even try.$ e target. The new scheme to grab the loot is through environmental scare tactics.

Third Part Of~Global Warming. Part 3

As I said I have added the whole write up about Global Warming  in around 4 parts this is the third.  Still interesting.

SCIENTISTS ARE NOT ON AL’S BAND WAGON

And so too is it an outrage for Al Gore to tell you that most true scientists now agree that global warming is a fact.

What he doesn’t tell you is that almost 500 scientists from around the world signed the Heidleburg Appeal in 1992 just prior to the Earth Summit in Rio de Janeiro, expressing their doubts and begging the delegates not to bind the world to any dire treaties based on global warming. Today that figure has grown to over 4000.

He also doesn’t tell you that recently a Gallup Poll of eminent North American climatologists showed that 83 percent of them debunked the global warming theory.

And the deceit knows no bounds. The United Nations released a report at the end of 1996 saying Global Warming was a fact, yet before releasing the report two key paragraphs were deleted from the final draft.

Those two paragraphs, written by the scientists who did the actual scientific analysis said:

1. “none of the studies cited above has shown clear evidence that we can attribute the observed climate changes to increases in greenhouse gases.”

2. “no study to date has positively attributed all or part of the climate change to …man-made causes.”

Global warming is the greatest hoax ever perpetrated on the people of the world – bar none.

THE CLIMATE CHANGE PROTOCOL

Those who have been fighting against the green agenda have been warning that modern-day environmentalism has nothing whatsoever to do with protecting the environment.

Rather it is a political movement led by those who seek to control the world economies, dictate development and redistribute the world’s wealth.

They use the philosophical base of Karl Marx, the tactics of Adolph Hitler and the rhetoric of the Sierra Club.

The American people have been assaulted from all directions by rabid environmentalists.

School children have been told that recycling is a matter of life and death.

Businesses have been shut down. Valuable products like freon have been removed from the market. Chemicals and pesticides that helped to make this nation the safest and healthiest in the world are targeted for extinction.

Our entire nation is being restructured to fit the proper green mold. All of it for a lie about something that doesn’t exist.

But the lie is about to grow to massive proportions — and the game is about to get very serious indeed.

In December of this year Bill Clinton will travel to Kyoto, Japan to sign a legally-binding United Nations treaty called the Climate Change Protocol.

The sole argument for this treaty is that Global Warming is a fact and we must take severe action to stop it.

Right now the Clinton Administration is bombarding the airwaves with the sales pitch. Conferences are being held in cities across the country. Special reports, magazine articles and documentaries are all being used to pound home the message – global warming is here – we must stop it.

But the most offensive assault on the expression of free thought by the American people, as the Administration drives to sell you this snake oil, was committed by Interior Secretary Bruce Babbitt. Babbitt said that anyone opposed to the fight to stop Global Warming was “unAmerican.”

He accused those opposed to the Climate Change Treaty of engaging in a “conspiracy to hire pseudo scientists to deny the facts.” So now, according to Babbitt, to disagree with the Clinton Administration is tantamount to treason.

In fact the Climate Change Protocol is a legally binding international treaty through which signing nations agree to cut back their energy emissions to 15 percent below 1990 levels. And the treaty says this goal is to be accomplished by as early as the year 2010.

That means that all of the energy growth since 1990 would be rolled back, plus 15 percent more in just twelve years.

Yes, there are negotiations, debates and arguments taking place over the exact terms of the treaty as we speak. Perhaps the final version won’t be so severe.

But it doesn’t matter. Such a massive disruption in the American economy, particularly since it has nothing to do with protecting the environment, will devastate this nation.

To meet such drastically-reduced energy standards will, in the short run, cost the United States over one million jobs. Some estimate it will cost over seven million jobs in 14 years. If the treaty sends the economy into a tailspin, as many predict, it will cost even more jobs.

It will cost the average family $1,000 to $4,000 dollars per year in increased energy costs. The cost of food will skyrocket.

It has been estimated that in order for the United States to meet such a goal the U.S. gross domestic product will be reduced by $200 billion – annually.

To force down energy use the Federal government will have to enforce a massive energy tax that will drive up the cost of heating your home by as much as 30 to 40 percent.

In all likelihood there will be a tax on gasoline – as high as 60 cents per gallon.

There will be consumption taxes and carbon taxes.

The purpose of these punitive costs is to drive up the cost of modern living in order to force you to drastically change your lifestyle. That is the diabolical plan behind this restructuring scheme.

Every single product that is produced with the use of energy will increase in price. Including items like aspirin, contact lenses and tooth paste.

Yet just recently Bill Clinton said that compliance with the treaty would not hurt the economy. He said he can “grow the economy and do right by the environment.”

The truth is, to date, the Clinton administration has refused to release an economic impact analysis of the effects of the treaty.

But a leaked study by the Department of Energy’s Argonne Laboratory finds that the treaty will cripple six U.S. industries including paper, steel, petroleum refining, chemical manufacturing, aluminum and cement. That about sums up the economy.

When Clinton is through complying with the treaty you may find yourself sitting in a dark house after lights have been ordered off early in the evening, unable to drive your car because of gas shortages, unable to walk to the shopping mall because stores will be ordered closed after dark, even if you have a job and money to spend.
