Winter Is Still With Us
This snow, here in Northern Ontario, is starting to take a toll on folks. Especially the women! Sheesh.

What’s Happening On March 8/2022
It’s a sunny morning here in Northern Ontario. The temperature getting out of bed was sitting at -8.1 C | 17.42 F. It will warm up to just above the freezing mark as the day progresses. Which will make it nice for cleaning all that snow we had yesterday. In some places in our driveway, we had close to ten inches or so. Knowing that our old snowblower will be kept busy for a while this morning.
Highway 522 is snow and ice covered throughout this morning, which won’t make travelling all that good. The snowplow had been through though, by the way the end of our driveway is looking.
On another note, I worked here at my computer most of the day yesterday. I worked away on things that weren’t really necessary, and before I knew it, the day was shot. That’s the way it goes sometimes.
Not much else happening around our small community and with that I am off for a bowl of cereal that my lovely wife is fixing me, and then we will get to cleaning out our driveway and decks. That should keep us busy for most of the morning. Have a great day! GW

What A Woman Wants To Hear
That’s all fine and dandy, she replied. But we don’t have a horse. You got to do better than that.
Hmm! I guess I will have to think on things. This romantic stuff is not easy.

What’s Happening On March 7/2022
It’s another snowy morning here in Northern Ontario, Canada. We didn’t have any snow overnight. We could see up to 8 inches of the white stuff before it ends tonight. It is coming down pretty good at the moment.
Yesterday we lost a lot of the snow with it being so warm along with the rain. Highway 522 is partially snow covered, and I suspect by the way it’s coming down, it will get worse as the day moves forward. It’s a good day to stay home. You also have to be very careful when walking, because under that snow is solid ice, and it is slippery.
On another note, yesterday I worked away once again here at my desk. Today with the way the weather is looking I will do the same. I also brought in a couple wheelbarrow loads of firewood from our pile outside, as we were getting a bit low in the basement. That gave me some much-needed exercise, as I had to carry it down the basement stairs. At the moment there is too much snow and ice where I usually put it in through the basement window.
With that, I am off for a boiled egg with toast that my lovely wife is making for me, and will then see what the day is offering. Have a great day, make it a great day. GW
What’s Happening On March 6/2022
We were having some sunshine early this morning, but at the moment it is cloudy. We could see a bit of sunshine off and on throughout the day, but not too much. The temperature has risen overnight, sitting at 5.5 C | 41.9 F. It also rained all night long. So with the warm temperature and the rain, the snow is melting fast. However, in saying all that, we could get a pile of new snow starting tonight and into tomorrow. Kind of depends on which way the storm is tracking. But as they say, if anyone is going to get snow, it will be us. Good in some ways and not so good in other ways. Ha Ha. The snowmobiles will like it. Highway 522 at the moment is bare and wet. I would think if you have anywhere to go, this morning would be the time to do it, as later on things aren’t going to be so good, weather wise.
On another note, I worked away here on my Computer for most of the day yesterday, writing up a story for my columns. Today, if the rain and snow holds off, I might wash our car as it is sure dirty. Caused by the calcium that they are putting down on the highways these days, along with the salt. It can sure take a toll on the body of the car. I wonder if our Powers That Be, will give us some extra cash to fix our cars when they are in need of some bodywork, cased by what they are putting on the road these days? Not likely!! I guess it’s the price we pay for being able to drive relatively safe throughout the winter months. Then again….
So with that I am off for a bowl of cereal that my lovely wife is making for me. Have a great day. Spring is heading our way in a week or so. GW

Gas Prices.
Gas prices continue to surge!
Why is that? Simple really. It’s because we here in Canada has become too reliant on other countries for things that we can produce here at home. We have enough oil here in Canada, that we don’t need to be buying it from other countries like Russia. And this going green isn’t the way to solve the problems that we are having now.
What’s Happening On March 5/2022
It’s another cloudy morning here in Northern Ontario, Canada. But the good news is it isn’t as cold as it was yesterday, with the temperature getting out of bed sitting at -7.4 C | 18.68 F. We didn’t have any snow overnight. However, later on today, we could see a mixed bag of things, like rain, freezing rain or some wet snow. Highway 522 is bare for most parts this morning.
On another note, we noticed the crows were back, as we had them come visit us the day before yesterday. Seems two of them comes every spring, stays the summer and raises usually 4 young ones. Then in the Fall they leave. We enjoy their company.
Yesterday I worked away here on my computer writing up a story that I had in mind. Today will do much the same. Once I am caught up story wise and the weather warms up a wee bit more, I will start working on some woodworking projects I have in mind. Kind of looking forward to it after being in the house for the past two months.
So with that I am off for a boiled egg this morning that my lovely wife is making for me and will then get to work. Have a great day. GW.

War and Such
“If Russia is destroyed, we will be next. This is for sure,” said Wang Yongchun, a retiree in Beijing. “The United States wants to dominate the world.”
Hmm. Now, if there was ever any fake news. This is it.
Just another ploy to make you think what is happening in the world today, is all about us here in North America. The thing is, people like Yongchun seems to have the ability to swing things around to their way of thinking.
You would think the world is going through enough with this virus without having to put up with this nonsense.
What’s Happening On March 4/2022
It started off sunny here in Northern Ontario, Canada. But at the moment the sun has left us. We should, however, see a wee bit more sunshine as the day moves forward. Highway 522 is still partially snow and ice covered, and we are having some light flurries at the moment. Today will be the last day of the real cold weather, and tomorrow things will start to warm up above the freezing mark. And the warmer temperatures should remain with us for about a week before it cools back down a wee bit. But by the looks of things, the coldest weather has left us for this year. Which is okay with me as I am looking forward to some front porch sittin”.
On another note, I steadily worked away here on some technical stuff on my computer yesterday. I think I am happy now with the way things are working. It has been a challenge. Today I should be able to get back to writing up some new stories for my newspaper columns. It will be nice to get them out of the way for summer. My wife is steadily working on her painting orders, which has been hard with all the other things she has to do. But she is making progress. It’s amazing how she gets all these things looked after.
With that I am off for a bowl of cereal that my lovely wife is making me and will then get to work. Have a great day. GW

So how you all doing this morning? Good I hope. Starting things off, we all woke up to sunshine here in Northern Ontario, Canada. It sure is nice to see, as it makes a person want to get out of bed. My old Dad used to holler up the stairs some mornings! “Get out of bed boy. We have to make hay while the sun shines.”
Actually, if my old Dad would be alive today, it would be his birthday. So … Happy Birthday Dad. I miss ya!
Moving along, it is still down right cold outside this morning, with the temperature sitting at -18.3 C | -0.94 F. Highway 522 is mostly snow and ice covered at the moment, which won’t make travelling all that good for a couple of hours or so. It will warm up a touch as the day moves forward, The sunshine should remain with us for most of the day.
On another note, my wife and I had to clean our driveway and decks removing some snow yesterday, along with helping our neighbour. The good part is, it got us out of the house, some exercise, along with some fresh air. Can’t beat that. No exercise equipment in this house.
Today I will work away on my sound set up for podcasting, along with other things. Lots to learn getting things just right. Especially for an old feller. These young bucks know what is needed and how to do things, as they grew up with all these high-tech gadgets. But for us older folks, it’s a challenge. I do enjoy learning, though.
With that, I am off for a boiled egg that my lovely wife is preparing for me, along with a piece of toast. I might even have a touch of jam on one slice. Just because I can. Have a great day. GW
