Port Loring, Information, Weather & Fishing Times

Good morning. Well sure a nice looking day out there starting things off.  Sun is shinning and hardly a cloud to be seen.  Can’t get much better than that.  Temperatures waking up were sitting at…13.5 C | 56.3 F and will warm up considerably as the day progresses.  Great day to take in what Nature has to offer and we got it all right here in Port Loring Ontario.

Forecast For Today:    Possible showery early, improving though through out the day.

Bug Report:   Nothing much to report here relating to insects.  Mosquitoes have quieted down for most parts which is OK by me.  Few Blackflies and Horseflies irritating folks off and on but nothing to really cause any harm.

Fishing Times:   This morning the old weather stick is saying that the best times to be out there will be from 8:30 AM – 11:45 AM.  Then a bit later on from 2:30 PM – 5:00 PM.  I give it a 3 fish rating out of 4 for catching them.  Thinking it will be a pretty fair day all way round for putting fish on the supper table.  For fishing today I recommend a great little spoon which can be purchased for under $10.00 and would be a great asset to any tackle box.  Take a look..images  Add a small minnow, leach or small worm on the end and there should be no reason not to hook onto a nice Pickerel, Pike Or Bass.  Casting out towards the shore line bringing it in slowly, will surely entice one or two.

News Around Town:  Yesterday had a chap drop by the house here with a flyer pertaining to the Cornfest that will be taking place at the Community Centre in Arnstein Ontario on August 30/2014.  This is a great event and has been taking place here in our district for many years.  It is something all should attend to say the least.  Click Flyer to enlarge and for all the details relating to this event.  Have a great day my friends, get outside, soak up some sunshine if one follows this ritual no Flu Shots will be needed this Fall. ltss-0362 Also remember if you would like your event or happening added here on the Blog let me know and it will be done.

Port Loring Ontario, Weather, Information & Fishing Times

Good morning. Well waking up some sun is upon us, along with temperatures sitting at  13.7 C | 56.66 F.  Things will warm up finally as the day moves forward. So what could be better?

Forecast For Today:    Unsettled, probably improving shortly with sunshine in abundance.  Makes a fellow feel alive looking at it shinning on the huge red pines.

But Report:   All is well in our area other than a few pesky mosquitoes irritating some.  Throw in a few deerflies for good measure.  But as I say nothing that would stop anyone from going outside and enjoying what nature has to offer.

Fishing Times:   This morning I give it a 2 fish rating out of 4 for catching them.  The old weather stick is saying that the best time to be out there will be from: 8:30 AM – 12:00 PM Then a bit later from 4:00 PM – 7:30 PM.  Tackle of the day that I would recommend would be the Tourney Minnow, that is if you don’t have the real thing.  Take a look…canvas They sell for under $5.00 at most places, if more than that, pass on the deal and look around.  The one in the picture is a deep diver which you can tell by the plastic piece under the head.  A shallow diver would be much better, but it will give you the idea of what to look for.  Good luck.

News Around Town:  A chap by the name of Bob got in touch with me discussing things relating to getting the word out on events and things.  In doing so he sent me a few happenings in and around our area.  Take a look…

Port Loring Information, Events, Weather & Fishing Times

Good morning. Well cloudy this morning. Old sunshine is having a hard time showing itself this summer.  Hoping August is a bit better.  Temperatures are also a lot cooler this year.  Waking up they were sitting at…12.3 C | 54.14 F.  Fellow wants to kind of stay in bed.  But not good to waste a day.

Forecast For Today:   Changeable, mending though as the day progresses.  We had     21 mm of  rain yesterday and through the night.  So no shortage of moisture this summer.

Fishing Times:    This morning the old weather stick is saying that the best times to be out there will be from…9:00 AM – 11:30 AM.  Then once again from 2:30 PM – 4:30 PM.  I give it a 1 fish rating out of 4 for catching them.  Not the greatest day for fishing using my data and expertise.  But the item of choice for catching them today would be a spinner.  They come in may shapes and forms but the one Iike I will show you in a pictures take a look…1049492_15442  With this one you can use it for casting or trolling. I have found both ways works out quite successful.  I got some nice bass using this lure.  Also a piece of worm on the end or a leech would be a great asset.  You can pick these up under $10.00.  I don’t believe price is an issue when buying a lure in every scenario. But a good quality lure that shows great action, is what one should be looking for.  Good Luck.

Bug Report:    Been pretty good around here the past few days with weather being wet, windy and cooler.  Things will change though once the sum makes its appearance in the coming days and things warm up. Mosquitoes would be the culprit that is going to annoy folks with a few deerflies thrown in for good measure.  But nothing to stop one from enjoying the north.

Around Town:  This morning we have the Farmers Market  in Arnstein, located at the Community Centre.  You can click the flyer below for all the information relating to this event.ltss-0357  Great outing for folks and while your at it stop off at the other stores we have here in Port Loring and maybe even have a sandwich at one of our restaurants.

Yesterday I told you about the Horse Soccer, it is located at Trout Creek at the Community centre there, on the 522, starting at 7:00 PM every Thursday night, weather permitting.  Sounds like an interesting event for sure and my wife and I are going to make a point of going to one or two once we get a few things cleared up here at home. Just been quite busy this year it seems. Any ways I a picture sent to me of Carrie Rogers Granddaughter “Hailey” riding Rhythm, owned by Carrie who lives here in Port Loring. Great folks for sure and nice to have them as friends. Also a few others of the Soccer Game that is taking place. Take A Look!!

Port Loring News, Information, Weather & Fishing Times

Good morning. Well cloudy day out there with a touch of sunshine trying to show itself. Temperatures waking up were sitting at 15.3 C | 59.54 F.  Will warm up a few degrees as the day progresses.

Forecast For Today:   Stormy, much rain, along with a thunderstorm; thunderstorms can produce hail.  Lets hope we don’t get any of that.  So…some inside work is in the works once again.  Lots of rain this summer but temperatures are quite nice.  Lot better than that hot sticky stuff.

Rapala® X-Rap® Pop Topwater Lure

Fishing Times:   Well this morning the old weather stick is saying that the best times to be out there will be from 8:00 AM – 10:30 AM.  Once again a bit later from 2:30 PM – 5:30 PM.j  Lure of the day taking things into consideration would be either a cheap on price Tourney Popper, goes for around $2.00 in most places or…a Rapala® X-Rap® Pop Topwater Lure.  It usually sells for around $10.00 or a touch cheaper. I have seen them sell for $8.00. Here is  a couple pictures showing both kinds.   A piece of worm on each one casting out into the lilly pads and dragging them in slowly should catch you a nice large mouth bass or pike.  Good luck.

Around Town:    Quiet around town.  Myself I got lots of shop work on the go so keeping busy for sure.  Doing things I enjoy actually and you know.  That is what life is all about.  I did hear today that at the Trout Creek Community Centre, on the 522, starting at 7:00 PM every Thursday night, weather permitting there is an event going on called Horse Soccer.  So what is Horse Soccer? In a nutshell it is about playing soccer with your horse. Horse soccer plain and simple.  Sounds interesting and thinking my wife and I will have to go and take it in one night in the coming days.

Port Loring Information, Fishing Times & Weather

Good morning.  Well really nice looking day out there.  Temperatures are sitting at           13 C | 55.4 F. Should reach up to near 24 C | 74 F.  Sun is shinning and with the winds coming in from the SSW, what could be better.

Forecast For Today:   Unsettled, short fine intervals through out the day.  So not to hard to take.

Bug Report:   Nothing to report here either as what is here is here for the summer. Few mosquitoes and deerflies irritating folks off and on but that is about it.  Really nice time of year.

Fishing Times:    This morning the old weather stick is saying that the best time to be out there will be from 7:00 AM – 1:00 AM.  Then once again from 4:00 PM – 7:30 PM. Lure of the day I would recommend this take a look… Click Picture To Enlarge.  4-YellowRed-288x178 Make sure though you buy one with a small hook and add a piece of worm to it.  The biggest mistake  I find  that folks make is fishing with too large of a hook.  Cast in and around lilly pads near shore and bring in quickly when it hits the water, then ease off a touch and carry on in to the boat.  You should be able to hook onto a nice pike or walleye. Good Luck.

Around Town:  Nothing much happening in the way of events and things.  Folks are out and about picking up items of choice here and there.  I have noticed a few more boats out on the water these days which is great to see.   Nothing nicer than to be enjoying our north, especially this time of year.  Watching the mist slowly rise above the water in the early morning hours, with a coffee or tea in hand, is about the most relaxing thing one could process through ones mind.  Enjoy your day my friends and try and get some sunshine on that skin of yours.  You want to be strong for what is to come this winter.  Right? No Flu Shot Needed.  George. W.

Port Loring Weather, Happenings & Fishing Times

Good morning.  Well rainy day here this morning.  Waking up temperatures were sitting at:  18.6 C | 65.48 F.  Had 22 mm of rain since last night.

Forecast For Today:   Stormy, much rain  off an on throughout the day.  Kind of looking like it might be a wet week but sun will shine through off and on.  Mid week we could see some cooler temperatures.

Bug Report:  Yesterday they weren’t to bad other than a few mosquitoes annoying folks.  Nothing that would cause some one not to get outside and go for a walk.

Fishing Times:   Well today I give it a 2 fish rating out of 4 for catching them.  Bait of choice would be worms teased by a small lime coloured lure with small hook.  The old weather stick is saying that the best times to be out there will be from 8:00 AM – 11:30 AM then once again from 2:30 PM – 4:45 PM.  Good luck.

Around Town:   Not too much to report here this morning.   Hardly a car at this time moving up or down highway 522.  Tourists are easing their way into our area, but weather won’t be cooperating too well this week for those out and about.  I have found over the years that most folks take their holidays either starting the first of July, or the first of August.  Some hold back some don”t.  July here in Port Loring has been a touch slow. August is on the horizon though and will unfold all he mysteries shortly.  For most parts though the stores and business’s are doing OK.  In reality money isn’t what life is all about any ways. At least that is what, should be the case.  So my friends, enjoy your day and have some fun with family, friends or by yourself.  GW

Port Loring Information, Weather & Fishing Times

Good morning.  Well  starting off this morning things are looking nice weather wise.  Temperatures were sitting at:  16.4 C | 61.52 F waking up.  Really sleeping weather no one can deny that.

Forecast For Today:   Stormy, much rain which will occur a bit later on in the day.  So would be well looked at if some outside work was in order this would be the time to do it.

Bug Report:  I did find the mosquitoes to be quite bad yesterday.  And I figure with rain in the forecast they will continue to be bad today also.  Not so bad that one can’t enjoy the outside though.

Fishing Times:   The old weather stick today is saying that the best time to be out there catching them is from 7:00 AM – 1:00 PM.  If the rain holds back you could pull a few big ones in from 4:00 PM – 7:00 PM.  Only if it doesn’t rain.  I give it a 4 fish rating out of 4 for catching them today.  Bait I would use would be minnows with a silver lure, small hook. Good luck.

Around Town:    Things are quiet for this time of year.  Few stores here in town though are doing well, which is a good thing.  Great to see folks in our area supporting our very own.  Gardens are taking shape more each day.  I did manage to do some weeding yesterday cutting them off with a hoe and leaving them lie for mulch for my other plants.  Works good and gives the veggies a needed boost this time of year.  So my friends you all have a great day, soak up some sunshine while you can this morning and don’t over do it with work.  Work isn’t what life is all about nor money.  GW

Port Loring Information, FIshing Times & Weather Updates

Good morning. Well another great looking day here in Port Loring.  Temperatures are sitting at…10.2 C | 50.36 F.   Will warm up more as the day progresses.

Forecast For Today:   Fairly fine, improving throughout the day.

Bug Report:  Not to bad out there this morning, few mosquitoes bugging folks but all is well.

Fishing Times:    This morning I give it a 3 fish rating for catching them out of 4.  The old weather stick is saying that the best time to be out there will be from 8:00 AM – 11:30 AM.  Then once again from 3:00 PM – 7:00 PM.  So lots of time to hook on that big one.

Around Town:    Not to much happening in the way of events. One lake I know of is quite busy with boaters, jet skies and you name it.  For myself I choose to have the quiet lakes.  Not into the new modern day ways of enjoying ones self. But everyone has their own way of doing things.  On another note…gardens are growing leaps and bounds. Pumpkins are have started to run now along with the squash.  Lots of blossoms so will see how we make out a bit later.  Tomatoes are producing and will need some thinning of leaves within the next few days.  To thick of foliage isn’t what one is looking for at this time.   Nice cool nights make it great for sleeping, along with dry warm sunny days now are in the forecast for the rest of the summer. I am pretty sure now we won’t get the hot muggy days of years past.  At least not this year.  Great for those looking to enjoy nature as she displays here splendour.  Have a great day and if the chance be upon you, soak up some of her rays.  Nothing is more healthy for you than the sun.  Moderation of course.  GW

Port Loring Information, Weather & Fishing Times

Good morning.  Well really nice looking day out there waking up.  Sun is showing herself and temperatures are rising as I type.  At the moment we are sitting at… 11.6 C | 52.88 F and will rise as the day marches forward.

Forecast For Today:   Fairly fine, possible showers early.

Bug Report:  Pretty good out there these past few days. Mosquitoes are with us along with some deer and horseflies but nothing to stop anyone from enjoying nature.

Fishing Times:     Well today the old weather stick is saying that the best times to be out there will be from…7:00 AM – 11:30 AM.  Then once again from 2:00 PM – 4:30 PM.  I give it a 3 fish rating out of 4 for catching them.  Good day for putting fish on the table for supper I would think.

Around Town:   Here at our small store we have had a steady flow of people visiting along with purchasing items of choice.  I can hardly keep up with my flute making this year.  We still have a good selection though and some really nice sounding branch flutes using directly from nature what she has to offer.  Each one is tuned to perfection in the Pentatonic Scale.  Along with that being a branch flute each an everyone, is one of a kind.  Drop by sometime and I will let you listen to what they sound like.  Lessons are free with each purchase along with printed instructions.

On another note:  Got a flyer in the mail yesterday relating to a small company here in town that is advertising for work.  Click flyer below for better viewing along with all the things they are offering.  Enjoy your day my friends. ltss-0361GW

Port Loring Happenings & Fishing Times

Good morning.  Well a nicer day is upon us here starting off.  Temperatures are sitting at 12.9 C | 55.22 F.  Even got some sunshine showing herself a bit.  Nice to see that.

Forecast For Today:    Unsettled, probably improving though as the day progresses.

Bug Report:  Everything is fine in that department other than a few mosquitoes irritating folks.

Fishing Times:   This morning the old weather stick is saying that the best times to be out there will be from, 7:30 AM – 1:00 PM.  Then once again from 4:00 PM – 6:00 PM.  I give it a two fish rating out of 4 for catching them.

Around Town:  Tourists are somewhat slow in making an appearance this season.  But weather and economy woes one just isn’t to sure on what they should be doing.  Like staying home and paying off bills or spending time in the north.  For some though it just doesn’t matter.  They figure they deserve a vacation along with some relaxation time and take it.  Kind of think that is the way to go, but I can see others points of view too.

On another our Farmers Market is up and running once again.  You can click the flyer below for all the details.  Enjoy your day my friends and if you get a chance get out and soak up some of that warm sunshine.  GW

Port Loring Ontario Weather, Happenings & Fishing Times

Good Morning.  A bit cloudy out there this morning with temperatures sitting at 18.5 C | 65.3 F

Forecast For Today:     Stormy, with some rain.  If we are lucky we might see some sunshine a bit later.

Bug Report:  Other than a few mosquitoes pestering folks things are looking good.  Can’t really ask for anything better.

Information For Port Loring Ontario

Good morning.  Well had  substantial amount of rain through the night and will get some more throughout the day. Waking up temperatures were sitting at…19.2 C | 66.56 F.

Forecast For Today:    Stormy, much rain.  Could see a bit of sun breaking through the clouds a bit later…if we are lucky.

Fishing Times:    Today the old weather stick is saying that the best time to be out there will be from 8:30 AM – 11:00 AM.  Then once again later on from 2:30 PM – 6:00 PM.  I give it a 1 fish rating out of 4 for catching them.  Will get better as the week progresses.

Bug Report:   A few mosquitoes and deerflies bothering folks but other than that things are looking pretty good. We will always have some sort of annoying bugs as this is where we live.  But the severity of them diminishes some, as the summer months moves forward towards Fall.

Around Town:   Things are quiet these days.  Weather and things slow the tourists down some what.  And can’t say I blame them either.  If one only gets two or three weeks a year holidays, well…they want to try and pick the best weeks to enjoy what they like doing most.  No fun sitting in a cottage not being able to get out and enjoy Nature.  But we still have lots of time yet.  Enjoy your day my friends.  GW

Information For Port Loring Ontario

Good morning. Well really nice day here this morning.  Sun is shinning with a light breeze coming in from the North North West.  Temperatures are just perfect sitting at 20.8 C | 69.44 F.  No humidity to speak of, what could be better.  But things might change in a bit.

Forecast For Today:    Stormy, much rain as the day progresses and into tonight.  Not that we really need it.

Bug Report:  With the cool, dryer weather mosquitoes have died down some.  Deer flies are a bit annoying to some that live in the bush areas.  That covers most of Port Loring.  But all and all not so bad.  One can put up with them now.

Fishing Times:  Well today is the day for bringing them into the boat. Times to be out there will be from 8:00 AM – 11:30 AM.  Then again from 12:30 PM – 4:00 PM.  Today I give it a 4 fish rating out of 4 for catching them.  All signs relating to nature is saying it will be a perfect day for catching them.  Until the rain moves in if it does.  So good luck, no reason for not catching them today.  Bait I recommend is worms on the end of a coloured lure.

Around Town:  Quiet around our small community this morning.  Folks are out and about heading off to their place of worship. For myself I find my front porch or back porch does about the same for me, in bringing ones mind back to reality. But it is up to each individually on what road they decide to choose.  Nothing is more soothing to me than to sit out and look at my gardens surrounded by Mother Nature.  Enjoy your day my friends.  GW

Port Loring Ontario Canada…Information

Good morning.  Well really nice day waking up here in Port Loring.  Temperatures are sitting at…13.3 C | 55.94 F.   Will warm up and be quite pleasant all day.

Forecast For Today:  Fairly fine, possible showers early.

Bug Report:  Things are looking good in this department.  A few mosquitoes, horse and deerflies around along with no-see flies.

Fishing Times:  This morning the old weather stick is saying that the best time to be out there will be from 7:30 AM – 9:30 AM.  Then a bit later from 1:00 PM – 3:00 PM and one more time from 5:00 – 7:15 PM.  So lots of time to catch a few for supper.  I give it a 3 fish rating out of 4 for catching them.

In The News:  Went to town yesterday as had to stop by Ford for them to check our new vehicle over.  Got a shuttle to the North Bay Mall and wife and I had lunch there while waiting for our car to be fixed up.  While there met quite a few folks, that read my columns.  Always nice to chat to folks.  Also seen Jim from our landfill here in Port Loring and we chatted for a bit.  Found out his wife was in the hospital.  My wife and I would like to wish her a speedy recovery.  Nothing worse than being laid up with health related problems.  On another note I did notice that they fixed up Lakeshore Drive in North Bay to where it is drivable once again.  There were so many pot holes that I dreaded driving on it.  Lot nicer now.  Also noticed they are working on Castle Street near Food Basic.  Have to say it needed it too.   Lot of needed work finally being done in and around the Bay.  Good to see.  I noticed lots of shoppers out an about picking up items of choice.  Mall was full along with Wall-mart.  Independent grocery store now is back in full swing with folks finally realizing what Wall-mart was doing.  Great to see that some folks can’t be fooled.  Later on visited our son Karl, and went out for supper.  He even bought, how about that?  Great fellow and we are quite proud of him.  So…thinking a tea is in order here now this morning and will then see where the day brings us.  Enjoy your day my friends.  GW

Port Loring Ontario Canada

Good morning.  Well waking up temperatures were a bit cool sitting at: 11.1 C | 51.98 F.  But some sun is showing itself so things will warm up in a bit.

Forecast For Today:  Fairly fine, possible showers early.

Bug Report:  Pretty good out there these past few days all things taken into consideration.  Could say we are at our normal cycle for the time of year.

Fishing Times:    Today the old weather stick is saying that the best times to be out there will be from;  10:30 AM – 12:30 PM.  Then a bit later from 2:00 PM – 5:00 PM.  I give it  1 fish rating out of 4 for catching them.  Not the best but things will improve in the next few days.

Around Town:  Well with the rain ending and sun making her appearance folks will also get out more doing what comes naturally.  Seems that when the sky’s are gloomy so are us humans.  Why is that? Well simple really, we humans come from energy which is all around us, energy comes from the sun.  No sun, well….we aren’t at our best.  The rain though along with good soil sure got my gardens to growing this year. I took a few pictures to show you.  Notice how shiny the leaves are showing off their health.  I have to say it is about the best year we ever had for growing things.  Click Pictures to Enlarge and have a great day.

Good Morning From Port Loring Ontario

Good morning.  Well internet was down yesterday for the morning so didn’t get to adding much.  This morning though things are back to normal but a touch cooler.  Waking up temperatures were sitting at…14.4 C | 57.92 F.  Big difference than the last the few days.  Had to put on a sweater.

Forecast For Today:   Changeable, mending as the day progresses.

Bug Report:   Actually quite nice out there other than a few mosquitoes and no see flies.  They don’t really hurt you but they do annoy you with getting in ones eyes, ears and nose.  Full time job swishing them away if out near a car, mower or any other piece of equipment that is running.  Same as most the insects they are after the carbon-monoxide that comes from the engines and us humans. Draws them to you.

Fishing Times:  This morning the old weather stick is saying that the best time to be out there will be from…9:00 AM – 12:30 PM.  Then again from 2:00 PM – 4:00 PM.  I give it a 2 fish rating out of 4 for catching them.  Good luck.

Information:   Not to much to report.  Yesterday with the Farmers Market things were quite busy.  At least for us here at our small store.  Lots of good friends from the USA  dropped by.  Good to see them too.  Also lots of folks from the surrounding area came for a visit and to purchase items of choice. On another note, with all this rain the veggie garden is sure growing.  Think things grew a foot.  Can almost stand there an watch things reaching up towards the sun.  Should have a great crop of everything this year. Actually I figure we are about a week ahead of last year with things getting ready to eat.  So in-spite of our cool spring we are still ahead of the game.  Enjoy your day my friends.  GW

Happenings In Port Loring Ontario

Morning. Well rain is still upon us.  Yesterday we had around 18mm of the wet stuff.  Through the night we had another 8mm and will see what the day brings us. Temperatures were quite warm through the night and waking up they were reading…22.7 C | 72.86 F.  Quite damp,  which in turn gets the old bones to aching a touch.  But things will improve body wise in a few days, when the wet weather moves out of the area.

Forecast For Today: Stormy, much rain off and on all day and into tonight.

Bug Report:  With all the wet weather things have quieted down some. Mosquitoes though, if out in the bush can still irritate a feller or gal.  Once the sun comes back on line and the dragon flies make an appearance once again, them blood sucking parasites will see their just reward.   Works that way with every species, even us humans.  Makes me smile thinking about it.

Fishing Times:   Well don’t think too many folks will be out there today, but then again one never knows, there are some that fishes all weather.  Myself I tend to seek out the nicer days, along with the fishing times.  I figure anything that expands my chances is worth taking into account.  Anyway, today the old weather stick is saying that the best times to be out there will be from 7:00 AM – 10:30 AM.  Then again from 3:00 PM – 5:30 PM.  I give it a 1 fish rating out of 4 for catching them.  Not the greatest day for sure for bringing them in.  But in saying that….good luck.

Around Town:  Quiet this year starting out.  But then…it is only the first week into the main holiday season.  Mother Nature has a way of changing folks minds and drawing them into her arms, even if it is for only a few weeks each year. I have to say though that our Native American Flutes this year are on top of folks things to purchase.  We have exceeded our expectations already and we are just starting.  I guess the word is spreading, which in my mind proves that word of mouth is the best advertising one can have.  Put that together with 45 years of making them a feller should be doing quite well. This year we have added some new flutes to our assortment…being…Branch Flutes.  Each branch is carefully selected, dried and brought to life. Very, very hard to make and bring into sound, but when completed there is no other sound on earth like them, each flute being one of a kind, which can never to be duplicated.  Mother Nature is surely amazing, if us humans work with her, not against her.  Below I have added some picture which will show you the quality of my work.  Click each picture to enlarge.  Enjoy your day my friends.   GW

Port Loring Ontario Happenings

Good morning. Well a bit warmer this morning waking up to temperatures sitting at…22 C | 71.6 F.  Going to be a warm one once again today.  So safes money if one closes up the house a bit keeping it cool.  Got a nice breeze though at this stage in the morning.

Forecast For Today:   Stormy, much rain closing in on us an into the night.  So good time to think on some inside things to do or go shopping.  Lots of things to see and do in Port Loring along with visiting a few gift shops.  Makes for an interesting day to say the least.

Bug Report:  Have to say that things in this department are improving each day as summer marches along.  Mosquitoes are still here of course along with a few horsefly’s and deerfly’s.  But not so bad.

Fishing Times:  Today the old weather stick is saying that the best time to be out there will be from..9:00 AM – 12:30 PM.  Then once again from 2:00 PM- 5:00 PM.  I give it a 2 fish rating out of 4 for catching them.

News Around Town:  In connection with the fishing times, I did get out yesterday with my good friend Barry.  Left around 7:00 AM and got home around 2:00 PM.  Had a great time with boat & motor running like a charm.  Also the fishing times were right on the money, as Barry and I pulled in some really nice ones.  3 Pickerel, 1 small bass and one crappy.  Kept it as I haven’t tried one before and have to tell you, as Barry says, they are quite tasty.  So needless to say we had a Pickerel supper.  I took a picture at the end of the day it is below, you can click on it to enlarge.  Just to show you our catch for the day. The large Pickerel gave a good fight and took a bit getting it in the boat.  Was fun though. Enjoy your day my friends.

But out there with Barry makes for a great day even without catching fish.   Good Luck and don’t forget that rain coat..

Bug Report:   Mosquitoes are the bug of the day that annoys us human species.   A few deer flies thrown in for good measure are amongst us also.

Around Town.   Not much to report.  Gardens are growing great with lots of fresh lettuce and things for the table.  Eating from it every day.  Nothing can be better than fresh organic items of choice to put into ones body.  Makes one feel like eating.  Enjoy your day my friends.

Port Loring Ontario, Information

Good morning.  Nice looking day out there, shaping up to be a fine long weekend.   Temperatures waking up were sitting at…19.3 C | 66.74 F.  Will be a warm one as the day progresses.  Good day to keep the blinds or curtains closed a bit so, the house stays cool.  Also saves on the Hydro Bill as that isn’t cheap any-more.  Prices in my opinion…are way out of line.  As is our gas prices in this country.  Amazing how they can get away with it.   Anyway…

Forecast For Today:  Rather unsettled clearing later.

Bug Report:  I am happy to report that the mosquitoes have died down some as the dragon flies are cleaning them quite rapidly.  Normal amounts now surround us throughout the day and into the evening hours.  A few pesky deer flies and horseflies are still amongst us and will remain for the rest of the season till cooler weather returns.

Fishing Times:  The old weather stick is saying that the best times to be out there today will be from 9:00 AM – 11:00 AM.  Again from 1:30 PM – 3:00 PM and once again from 5:00 PM – 7:30 PM.  I give it a 2 fish rating for catching them in the early hours and a 3 fish rating out of 4 for catching them in the later hours.  I am thinking for the 24th Annual Poker Run, this year, it will be a super great day.  Have fun and good luck.ltss-0355
