Once again we have sunshine waking up here in Port Loring Ontario. The good news is we did have a nice rain through the night. I think my plants in the vegetable garden grew a foot. They all look nice and refreshed this morning. Temperatures stayed warm through the night and into this morning. Getting out of bed they were sitting at 23 C | 73.4 F. It will be a really hot day today getting warmer as the day moves forward. We could see some more rain with all this heat. A little more wouldn’t hurt, as the trees and things could use it. Mother Nature looks after her own. Being so hot care should be taken if out in the sun for any length of time. I put our open sign up every morning and there is one huge old horse fly that I think sits out there waiting for me, as he bugs me every morning until I am back in the house. One of these days he might just happen to meet his maker. So with them few words the horse and deer flies are still with us annoying at times. Mosquitoes are still around too but not as bad with this heat. The black flies are all but gone in most areas. Today I will be back in the woodworking shop working on my Flutes. I might only work a half a day today it being so warm. Just because I can. With that I am off for my morning cup of coffee with my lovely wife. GW

Today the old weather stick is saying the fishing will be pretty good. I give it a 3 Star Rating out of 5 for catching a few. With this rain we had last night it might slow things down a wee bit. The winds are coming in from the North West this morning. Good luck!
Well another sunny day here waking up. Few clouds but otherwise quite nice. It did cool down through the night so sleeping was more pleasant. Seems I can take the heat through the day but at nights, I like cool sheets. Temperatures were sitting at 20.6 C | 69.08 F. It will warm up a lot as the day moves forward. We do have a good chance of some rain or a thunderstorm through today and into tomorrow. I hope so we sure need it. Besides that I am tired of carrying water for my garden. But I do know if I don’t, we won’t have any fresh veggies for the table. The hot weather will end on Sunday and next week is looking nice. With Nature one has to take what comes along. Yesterday I worked all day in the woodworking shop and attending customers. We have had a steady stream of customers for the past few weeks which has kept my wife and I busy. Nice to see. Today I will again be working in the shop, I finished up most of my orders and now can concentrate on my flutes. I want to get them finished before the cold weather hits. It takes me around two to three months to finish them from start to finish. So with that stay cool, and I am off for my morning cup of coffee on the front porch. Then I will see what mischief I can get myself into.

Good Times For Fishing 2:00PM-6:00 PM Minor Times 8:00 PM-9:30 PM
It has the possibility of being a great day for fishing with the way the weather is looking. I give it a 4 Star Rating out of 5 for catching a few. It might pay to take a raincoat along with you and be prepared to get to shore if the sky darkens. The wind is coming in from the South East.
Good morning. The sun is shinning once again waking up, which makes things much nicer. A light breeze is coming in from the North with temperatures sitting at 18.9 C | 66.02 F. There is a slight chance of a thunderstorm later on in the day. But for most parts it will be pretty nice. On the flip side it will be quite warm and will continue till the weekend. I am hoping we do have some rain as the gardens and things sure need a drink. Today I will be in the shop working on a few orders and my Flutes. Lots to do these days. But it’s what I enjoy doing so no complaints. If it gets to hot I will stop for the day and enjoy a cool one on the front porch. Now and then I like to bug my lovely wife. Seems we can chat about anything for hours. And you know? We are good at it. With that I am off for my morning cup of coffee and a bite to eat. Then will see what develops. Have a great day! It’s all in how you make it.

It should be a pretty good day for fishing by the way my old weather stick is showing things. I give it a 4 Star Rating out of 5 for catching a few. Good Luck!
Us humans woke up to a few clouds this morning here in Port Loring, Ontario, Canada. We also had a touch of rain through the night but not enough to wet the ground. Today we will see clouds and sunshine. Tomorrow there is a slight risk of a thunderstorm. With these hot humid Florida like temperatures we could get anything. But for most parts it is looking like a not so bad week. It will be quite warm though and humid today. Temperatures waking up were sitting at 21.3 C | 70.34 F. Black Flies are pretty well all gone. Mosquitoes are still with us but not as bad. Horse and deer flies are another story. If you are near the bush they find you. On another note it looks like I might have to carry some water for my gardens with it being so dry. Today I will be working in the shop once again. Took me all day to set up for making Flutes. Lots involved in their making. With that I am off for my morning cup of coffee and will let the day unfold around me.

I would think it will be a good day for fishing by the looks of my old weather stick, wind direction and barometer. I give it a 5 Star Rating out of 5. Good Luck!
Great looking day waking up. Sun is shinning and the birds were all enjoying themselves outside my bedroom window. Cars and trucks are manoeuvring up and down the highway with even the odd plane flying over our home. Yep summer is here along with the tourists. Nice to see folks entering back into the picture. Temperatures were sitting at 17.6 C | 63.68 F. By the looks of things we are in for a very hot week with only a slight chance of rain mid week. We do need rain. On another note we did have a busy day yesterday at our store. Folks dropped by to pick up a few things along with friends coming in to say hi letting us know they are back for the summer. You could say it was a talking day. Today I will be working on some small orders and things. Once they are finished I will get back to working on my Flutes. Lot of tedious work making them. After three in the afternoon it is front porch sittin’ time. Why is that? Just because I can. With that I am off for a cup of coffee and then get on with my chores.

Major Times 12:00PM-3:00 PM Slow Times 7:00PM-9:00 PM Today fishing will be pretty good. With this heat that is coming things might slow down. But hey! Fish have a way of defying humans thinking. I give it a 3 Star Rating out of 5 for catching a few nice ones. Good Luck!
Great way to start the day other than getting out of bed.
A few clouds waking up here in Port Loring Ontario Canada. Temperatures were sitting at 16.6 C | 61.88 F. We will see more sunshine as the day progresses. Actually it will be a really nice day all way round. Black flies are all but gone, the mosquitoes are still with us. But this dry warm weather takes a toll on them. Today I will finish up some small orders for folks then I am thinking some front – porch sittin’ is the thing to do. It’s hard not to take advantage of this nice weather. I also have to water my vegetables as it is quite dry. The old saying is: You have to give to get. Seems that is correct in some ways. With that I am off for my morning cup of coffee and let the day unfold around me. GW

With the wind coming in from the south it will be touch an go for fishing today. They should be hiding under the Lilly pads or around logs with the water being so warm. I give it a 3 Star rating out of 5 for catching a few. Good Luck!
Another beauty of a day here in Port Loring. We had a few clouds waking up, but they are slowly leaving us bringing in the sunshine. Temperatures overnight were great for sleeping and at the time of this post they were sitting at 18 C | 64.4 F. Black Flies are all but gone they still linger in the bush areas. Mosquitoes are another story them blood sucking parasites are still annoying. Working in my shop they got on my nerves a touch yesterday, till I turned on the big shop vac with the six-inch hose and, well that made short work of them. After that, I put a fan on my bench blowing them back out the door. Works great. The old saying is if there is a will there is a way. True in some respects. Our vegetable gardens are growing leaps and bounds these days with fresh veggies every day for the table. Today I will be working in the shop on orders once again. Nice to be able to work out there with the doors open. Lots of folks dropping by these days picking up items of choice at our store. I would have to say it is the busiest year we have had in a lot of years, especially for flutes, my books, paintings and custom signs. Not complaining mind ya. With that I am off for my morning cup of coffee and will see what mischief I can get myself into. GW
These women have it all over us men. Just can’t beat them. Damn!
Cloudy morning waking up here in Port Loring Ontario Canada. Actually cool this morning, with temperatures sitting at 15.2 C | 59.36 F. The reason for the coolness is the wind is coming in from the North West. Things will warm up some in a bit, with sunshine entering into the picture. We did have a wee bit more rain which was needed. Under the trees though it is still dry. My tomatoes are starting to take shape … but it will be a few more weeks before we get to taste one or two. This year I put in a row of low acid ones. I got them started from some seeds that I brought with me seventeen years ago. Should be interesting to see how they taste. I do know when we had the farms years ago they were a good seller. Time will tell. Another thing that amazes me is how old these seeds are, and they still germinated and grew into some nice plants. You never know with Nature let me tell you. Today I will be working in the woodworking shop as I have a couple orders to fill along with another sign I need to cut out for my lovely wife. People sure love her signs, I can’t say I blame them as they all turn out beautiful. With that I am off for a bite to eat and then let it settle with a cup of organic perked coffee. GW
No sunshine so far this morning in Port Loring Ontario Canada. But the good news is we did have a bit of rain which my vegetable garden needed badly. I think things grew a foot overnight. It never ceases to amaze me what Mother Nature can do. As hard as we try to do things, Mother Natures makes it look easy. Of course, she can cause havoc too if we aren’t prepared. Temperatures waking up were sitting at 21.7 C | 71.06 F. Actually quite warm for this early in the morning. We could see a couple of morning showers; otherwise, clouds will slowly leave us making way for some sun. We also have a nice breeze coming in from the 298 deg | WNW. On another note I will see about doing some mowing in a bit. The grass though has slowed down some which is fine by me. With that … I am for my morning cup of perked coffee and will just let the day do as it wants. Seems to do that anyways. LOL
Another sunny day here in Port Loring Ontario Canada. Seems to be a trend these days. Waking up temperatures were sitting at 15.3 C | 59.54 F. It will warm up as the day moves forward. We could use some rain though as our vegetable gardens are pretty dry. I have been watering daily but it isn’t the same as what mother nature can do. But it’s better than nothing. On another note the lettuce is growing leaps and bounds. The Romaine lettuce is great this year as the Boston lettuce. Kale is being held back a touch but it is coming along. It might be a good thing, as it then will last into the late fall. Zucchini is all out in blossom yellow and green. I enjoy it made into spaghetti and covered with a nice tomato sauce made from the low acid tomatoes covered with cheese. Pretty tasty let me tell you. Today I will do some work in the shop on orders. Lots to keep this old feller out of trouble. The wife seems to think that is a good idea. Not sure why. LOL With that I am off for my morning coffee. GW
I sure like their horses myself. They are the ones on the right if you can’t tell the difference.
We all woke up to sunshine this morning here in Port Loring. Should be no complaints weather wise. Temperatures were sitting at 14C/56F. It will warm up as the day progresses. Black Flies are almost all gone, but there is a few around in some areas. Mosquitoes are another story, as them blood sucking parasites are everywhere at the moment. The horse and deer flies are also bothering a person too. But hey! It’s summer and as bad as they are it is still a lot better than all that snow and cold weather we have had. On another note I would like thank Janet and Frank for dropping by on Sunday. I hope you enjoy your sign you ordered and your new Flute. You asked what you should do to the sign? Nothing just leave it the way it is and it will last for years. The Flute as good as it is now, will only get better as time goes by. Why? Because it is made out of air dried wood and as it ages things start to sound nicer. It’s kind of like a fine wine. The longer it ages the nicer it gets. That’s true too. With that I am off to my shop I have some orders to get ready. After that it is Front Porch Sittin’ time. Rough life huh! GW
A great looking day out there starting things off. Sun is shining and a light breeze coming in from the East. Not as hot. Temperatures will rise a wee bit, but we should see sunshine all day. Getting out of bed temperatures were sitting at 13.8 C | 56.84 F. Black Flies are gone for most areas and Mosquitoes are slowing down with this heat we been having. So all in all a great weekend. About time too. On another note I would like to thank Judy, Sandra, Jackie and Julian for dropping by our store yesterday. I hope you girls all enjoy your Flutes. As I say to everyone that buys one … if you have any issues at all, feel free to drop by or Email me and I will be more than happy to help you. In reality there should be no problems. With that I am off for my morning cup of coffee and will let the day unfold around me. A great day for some front porch Sittin’ and remember. The great pleasure in life is doing what people say you cannot do. GW
Sunny day waking up. Temperatures aren’t as warm as it was yesterday, which is fine by me. At the time of this post it was sitting at 20.9 C | 69.62 F. It will climb a wee bit as the day progresses. We do have a light breeze coming in from the North East. Other than a few horse flies and deer flies things are pretty good in the bug section of things. I don’t see much rain for the next five days, so I guess I will have to do some watering myself in the vegetable gardens. Tomatoes are coming along but will be a couple weeks late compared to last year. Everything else though is about the same. I did dig some garlic yesterday for a taste. It tasted great but it isn’t quite ready to dig and dry for winter yet. With that I am off to my shop to work on a few orders. GW
Another hot one is in store for us today. The sun was with us waking up and will continue for most of the day … and will stay with us all week. The hot weather should ease off after today a wee bit. Which will make things nice for all those vacationers. Temperatures were nice through the night but are rising as I type. At the moment they are sitting at 22.8 C | 73.04 F. Might pay to take it a bit easy today. At least that is what I intend to do. I do have some work to do for a few magazines I write for so will probably work on them. Even with the heat I am happy to say our small gift shop has been quite busy. It was hard there for a while keeping up with our orders. Not complaining mind ya. My Flutes and our books are in demand as well. On another note the black flies are pretty much gone and the mosquitoes are easing off. The horse flies are another story as they love the heat and when they find you it’s hard to get away from them. With that I am off for my morning cup of coffee and bug my lovely wife for a bit. GW
Well a boiling day here today. Temperatures are sitting at 31.9 C | 89.42 F. Nothing but sunshine. In spite of the hot temperatures I did manage to get my lawn mowed. I started early so by the time it got too warm I was in the shower. The rest of the afternoon I just took it easy. Inside the house with the blinds down it is nice. Tomorrow supposed to be even hotter, so I am thinking I am not going to be doing too much other than maybe write up a story or two for the Newspaper. I had to water the vegetable garden today as some plants were asking for a drink. I just can’t walk by them seeing the leaves drooping. Kind of make me feel sorry for them, even though I am going to eat them. LOL. With that I am off for a cool one and will finish up the day … doing nothing. Stay cool!
Well another beautiful morning here in Port Loring Ontario. Sun is shinning, and we have a light breeze coming in from the South East. Temperatures were sitting at 15.6 C | 60.08 F. It will warm up considerably though, with temperatures reaching into the mid 30s C or around 86 F. It will get even warmer for tomorrow, so I would think if you have any work that might need a lot of energy it would pay to get it done this morning. Only a suggestion mind ya. Vegetable garden is still growing leaps and bounds. My lovely wife and I are eating strawberries and fresh lettuce salads, of every kind daily. Sure is nice. This morning I will be working on a trailer I built years ago … it is in need for some restoration. Seems a lot of things that get older need some attention … including us humans. With that I am off for my morning cup of coffee and will see what mischief I can get into. At least that is what my wife says. GW
Well rain was in the forecast for today but so far it’s been quite nice with sunshine waking me up. Temperatures were sitting at 18.1 C | 64.58 F. There is a chance of some showers later on and into tomorrow. So far we couldn’t have asked for a better long weekend. Even the mosquitoes are easing off with the black flies almost gone. Yesterday we had a really busy day at our store which kept my lovely wife and I hopping. Sold a few flutes and some paintings that my wife done up through winter. We also took a couple more sign orders so that will keep me busy cutting them out for the wife to paint. The vegetable garden is growing leaps and bounds with fresh lettuce salads on the table every day. Nothing like fresh produce. We also have had our first strawberries of the year. I don’t have a large patch, but we do get a quart daily. Amazing how sweet they are this year. They sure are tasty too. With that I am off for my morning cup of coffee and will see what develops as the day progresses. GW
Not a large patch but enough for two. Tasty
