Lots of folks out hunting this year.  Cars & Trucks all along 522 with folks heading off back into the bush.  I have to say I am very fortunate having the Booth family as friends to hunt with, as being private land, it  kind of takes the worry out of who and where the other hunters around a feller.  Not to forget they all are a great bunch of folks to hunt with. So….2 Bucks  down so far, will go and see if we can get another couple today.  If so everyone should have lots of meet in the freezer for winter and next summer.  Enjoy your day my friends and stay safe.

Ten pointer.  Going to have Cathy’s Brother do the head up so I have it for the wall.  It is so nice one just couldn’t discard it.  So come next summer should be really nice added feature for our home.  Today… well, have to see how the weather holds out.   If rain holds off should make for a good day. Jack Ross got the other buck nice one also.  So we are doing really well so far this year.  All bucks were taken down within the times I share with you folks.  Stay safe and enjoy your day.

Managed to get the weather sensor back up and running. Working good now with a few minor calibrations needed on our part. Should be in complete form later on this morning.  Ended up after all said and done, with shipping it back we got a newer version of our sensor plus a donation on their part of a 150 foot cable installed directly to the sensor by the manufacturer along with being calibrated.  So all in all was worth the effort in sending it back.  The folks we purchased it from in Oregon USA; MET ONE were very helpful and great folks to deal with. They bent over backwards in getting us fixed up and back on the air.  I have always said a good product is fine, but the service one gets after the fact, is just as important if not more.  This sensor we have is not made off shore neither, it is made right in the USA.  Can’t beat that.  Any of the graphs can be clicked on which in turn will open a really detailed graph.  Just one more added feature that Karl put together for us here at the LSB.  At the top is the forecast for the day which changes as weather data changes.  The Link For The Weather Station: Is On The Front Page Of The Local Service’s Boards Web Site.  http://www.loringlsb.com/

News For Port Loring Ontario

Not to much to report around town. I did make a trip to North Bay on the weekend to visit my son Karl.  He has been feeling poorly these past few weeks, but slowly coming around with the help of a good doctor friend of mine.  At any rate there is no shortage of cars moving around North Bay, or folks not spending money, as every store that I went into we had to wait at the checkouts.  Grocery and Wall-mart the most busiest, coming in second was the gas stations. Should mention that gas is a heck of a price these days coming in at $1.30 a liter.  What should be up there on them signs is the real price.  Should read: $5.20 a Gallon and a gallon doesn’t go very far.  This metric in my eyes was brought on to us for only one thing.  To fool folks into believing things aren’t really that expensive.  Doesn’t take a rocket scientist to figure that out.  Some call it progress, that’s a laugh. I call it tactics to fool the human race.  And they are good at it too. My opinion only, of course.  Enjoy your day my friends.

Open House & Local Author Celebration at Gulliver’s Quality Books & Toys North Bay

Went to town yesterday and took in  the Open House and local author celebration at Gulliver’s Quality Books & Toys on Main Street.  Suzanne Brooks her Husband & Staff sure out did themselves let me tell ya.   CTV Television was there, along with numerous news papers.  Lynn Johnston was also there, a great lady and if I can?  I would like to say she was a great inspiration to my wife and I when we started to put together our first book and continued to do so through out all five.  Suzanne Brooks though in my eyes is one of the greats.  She has proven her self time and time again for all that she has done to help new and old writers gain the respect and attention that they so deserve.  With out her a lot of new writers would have gone by the way side.  She is a great asset to the City of North Bay and deserves to be in the spot light now and then.  Great lady for sure and my wife and I are proud to be able to have her, her husband and staff as friends.  Refreshments were handed out with hot apple cider, lots of mingling done with fellow writers, friends, and…well…just a down right enjoyable day.  Lots turned out too, a steady stream of folks and the store was pretty well full for the whole event.  Great day Suzanne and once again:  Thanks….my hat goes off to you.  Actually I didn’t wear my Stetson as a tribute to you.

Well still pretty quiet around town.  Had some snow yesterday afternoon, around six inches to be exact. So driveway is in need of cleaning once again. So we will be able to get our exercise this morning shoveling it by hand.  Enjoy doing it actually, if it is light.  Gets us out so we can breath some of that fresh northern air into our lungs, along with soaking up a bit of that sunshine.  On another note, Karl has been working steadily on our LSB Weather for the Web Site.  He put an added feature which shows text data at the top of the weather page which updates on its own showing what the variables are every so often.  I would also like to say that we are very lucky to have Karl doing this for us.  As with out his expertise it wouldn’t have happened.  Not an easy chore to say the least. Other than cold outside not much happening around town.  Folks are staying inside relaxing by the fire it seems.  Can’t say I rightly blame them neither.  Myself I am steadily working on our new weather station here in Port Loring with Karl getting the bugs out of it.  Slow process but once done it will be a greatly needed feature for our community.  It is working now just needs some things worked out to make it more efficient.   I am also working on my fifth book which will be coming out in the spring, another slow project as there is so much to do in putting it together.  But both are things we enjoy doing,my wife and I.  Well tea time here, keep warm and drive safe.  In Closing I Would Like To Wish You Well.

Up-Date on Ground Hog Day

Ontario’s Wiarton Willie doesn’t see his shadow, meaning spring is just around the corner. If a groundhog sees his shadow, spring is six weeks away.    If no shadow is seen, it’s an indication of an early spring. OK by me I am lookin” forward to an early spring and warmer weather.  Good old Wiarton Willie comes through once again.  LOL

On another note, the weather station is up and running as you can see. The graphs are working great and more will be added as Karl finds time and gets over his sore back, as he hurt himself trying to open his car door after they froze. So he is home from work recuperating for a couple days. Quite a painful ordeal.   Always something.  Just got to figure out how to get his doors open on his car now for him.  Might have to make a trip to North Bay and give him a hand.  Back to the weather station. As I said the graphs are all working fine and sensor is doing its job, other than one part which is the wind speed.  With all the rain we have had and then dropping so fast, the cups froze up solid, so will take a day or so to come back on line. Being solid aluminum, as soon as the sun hits it, it will thaw things out.  Other than that things are working fine.  Enjoy your day my friends.
