575 Apple Pies Made & Sold Right Here In Port Loring

Got to talking, to a good friend of ours here in town and she got to telling us about the ladies that get to making pies here in Port Loring and District every year. This year they made 575 Apple pies and every one was sold at the United Church here in town. Pretty amazing in itself I would say. My wife and I got one ourselves and will be sampling it in the coming days. Never ceases to amaze me, what a small community can do, when all pulls together for the cause. Have a great day my friends.

Port Lorings Weather, Hunting Times & News

Good morning.  Well one sunny day, now a cloudy day with a few showers thrown in for good measure.  Not much one can do about that though, as one has to take what ever mother nature sends our way.  Barometer is falling slowly this morning sitting at 29.89 in Hg.  Temperature is going to reach 49 °f and then will be going down to 35 °f  later on this evening.  Now for those that would like to do some hunting, well this will be an excellent day for doing just that.  I give it a five star day out of five, so can’t get any better.  Times to be out there would be from 12:51 PM till 2:51 PM and then again from 5:50 PM till 6:50 PM.  The moon rose at      7:39 AM and will set at 5:52 PM. It will be overhead at 12:51 PM and underfoot at       12:22 AM.

Moon Phase is; Solunar Table Moon Phase is 0% percent new moon  0% NEW MOON.

The sun did get out of bed here in Port Loring just that at the moment it is behind some clouds.  It rose at 7:50 AM and will set at 6:14 PM.

So there you go.  Today I will be writing stories, as got a few to get down on paper, or should say computer screen.  Boy times has changed. Years ago I would be sitting down to write up my stories on an old ribbon typewriter.  Have to say though a lot of improvements have happened in that department.  I don’t really miss the old typewriter other than the clicking of the keys.  Just something about it that has stayed with me through out the years. New sounds now, with these new key boards, quieter, don’t have to use as much force.  At any rate one does have to move up with the times once in awhile that’s for sure.  Have a great day my friends.

The weather stick says hunting will be at its best from 11:53 AM till 1:53 PM then again from 5:17 PM till 6:17 PM. Great day for hunting folks, I give it a three star rating out of five. The moon rose at 6:18 AM and will set at 5:17 PM.

The sun rose this morning showing off at 7:49 AM and will set at 6:16 PM.

So there you go, sunshine for today an into tomorrow, so no reason not to get outside and enjoy what nature has to offer. I got some outside work to do, like take out the pump from my garden pond and do a bit more cleaning up around the place.

Not much else happening in around town. Quiet would be the word, with folks just winding down after a hard summer. Few friends of mine has already migrated south to the warmer climate. Can’t say I blame them either, as the USA does have some really nice warm places one can go to. For years my wife and I went to Sarasota for the winter, as my old Dad had a cottage there. Lot of fine memories where made there, let me tell ya. So folks, enjoy your day, eat healthy and get some exercise and sunshine. Do that an your body will just be a lovin’ ya.

Things as They Should Be Here In Port Loring

So hows things going folks?  Hope your summer is wrapping up to be what you expected and you made your millions for the winter that lies ahead.  I finally got my vegetable garden all tilled up for next spring. Also took in a bit more kale for winter, as it sure likes this cold weather. Spinach is the same, loves the cold and grows to beat the band this time of year. So good for you too. Before I dug out my broccoli for the year, I picked all the small pieces off them and my lovely wife made a soup from them along with some leaks and potatoes. Had it for supper last night and I have to tell you it was hmm good.. Before tilling it up I added some lime this year, as the soil was a touch acidly and to enrich it some I added a good pile of cow manure. Then on top I covered the whole garden with leaves. Looks good now and next year should have tomatoes the size of pumpkins. I also managed to get my equipment all cleaned up and put away for another year and even got time to make a run to the dump. So all and all a good day, not wasting one minute of it.

The leaves are pretty well all gone for the year, with a few lingering oak ones still hanging on. I have to say they sure look pretty this year, even more so than years past.  The tamarack though have just started to show off and for most parts you never hear folks talk about them. Put their colours along side the pines and cedars and let me tell you they are sure a sight to behold.  Thing is, up here in the north is the only place you can see them and I highly recommend that you should.    You know…. it would be just one more item to take of your list of things that should be done in life.   Have a great day my friends.

Powassan Ontario Library, Authors Night

Last night I was at the Powassan Library reading from my books, along with answering questions and also got some one on one time after the meeting, which I enjoy.  I have to say we had a great evening. The staff was on top of things as always and made our evening very enjoyable. They should be commended.  The refreshments and things after the meeting was great also. I get a good feeling being there, from the time I walk in the door, till the time I leave. We had a good turn out also in spite of the rain, as every chair was taken. My wife and I would like to thank all those that attended, it was nice meeting you all and look forward to doing it again, real soon. Have a great day my friends.

Job Cuts In Goverment, Tony Clement Good Man At The Reigns For A Change

Hundreds of Environment Canada jobs to be cut.

Well all I can say is, way to go Tony it is a long time coming.  Folks today have to remember government jobs does not make a health economy.  It drains the economy, as the working man has to pay them. Doesn’t take a rocket scientist to relalize that,  but there is lots out there that would beg to differ. Never ceases to amaze me with their thinking.  My opinion only.  Again; way to go Tony keep up the good work.

Hungary destroys all GMO maize fields

Some 400 hectares of maize found to have been grown with genetically modified seeds have been destroyed throughout Hungary deputy state secretary of the Ministry of Rural Development Lajos Bognar said. The GMO maize has been ploughed under, said Lajos Bognar, but pollen has not spread from the maize, he added. Unlike several EU members, GMO seeds are banned in Hungary.

Another country that has seen the light.  Hope more will come on board in the near future.

Goodbye For Now My Fiend: Peter Falk dead at 83

Well here again we lost a great feller.   Peter in my eyes was one of the greatest actors that the world has ever seen.  His death was not really known, or so they say, but earlier he had had some major dental work done.  Kind of makes you wonder doesn’t it.  For me I have my own theory and with the way the medical profession is going today, well nothing more needs to be said.   See you around Peter.  My Opinion Only.

News From Port Loring Ontario

Well been a couple cool days here.  Yesterday was cool enough for me to wear a jacket while getting my mowing done.  Also cloudy and day before that rained most of the day.  Today though is sunny and looks nice but still cool. Winds from the old north bringing in the cool air is the culprit but by the looks of the long range into next week things change back to warmer weather.  At least into the seventies they say, so that is ok with me.  Even had to put on the old furnace for a wee bit this morning to take the dampness out of the old bones and warm up the house a touch.  Today will get at working up my veggie gardens some, so that should keep me busy. Have to say they things are growing nicely too, been eating fresh veggies regularly every day now.   Our store is also open now for the season, loaded with all kinds of new items too.  So be sure to drop by when your out this way.  Can’t miss our place now as out front we have a brand new sign that says.  George & Ruth Walters Author and Artist with a gift shop sign underneath.  Have a great day.

The e.coli outbreak in Germany

The e.coli outbreak in Germany is raising alarm worldwide as scientists are now describing this particular strain of e.coli as “extremely aggressive and toxic.” Even worse, the strain is resistant to antibiotics, making it one of the world’s first widespread superbug food infections that’s racking up a noticeable body count while sickening thousands.

Of course, virtually every report you’ll read on this in the mainstream media has the facts wrong. This isn’t about cucumbers being dangerous, because e.coli does not grow on cucumbers. E.coli is an intestinal strain of bacteria that only grows inside the guts of animals (and people). Thus, the source of all this e.coli is ANIMAL, not vegetable.

But the media won’t admit that. Because the whole agenda here is to kill your vegetables but protect the atrocious practices of the factory animal meat industries. The FDA, in particular, loves all these outbreaks because it gives them more moral authority to clamp down on gardens and farms. They’ve been trying to irradiate and fumigate fresh veggies in the USA for years. (http://www.naturalnews.com/023015_f…)
