Morning Chat, Sept. 8/2021

Good Morning. Well … in spite of what our weather experts were telling us, we are having some sunshine here in Port Loring, Ontario this morning. And I have to say looking out at the shadows on our front lawn, it sure looks appealing, or in our old tongue … down right nice. Highway 522 has slowed down some, but not Highway 11. The reason I know this is, my wife and I had to make a trip to town yesterday, and it was almost bumper to bumper with cars, trucks, campers, you name it. And that was heading north. And on top of all that, the traffic in North Bay was unbelievable. We thought that with the kids going back to school, it would be a good time to pick up some much-needed clothes. But that was the wrong prediction. There are around 56000 people in North Bay and I don’t think one of them works, as I think we saw everyone that lives there. The stores were packed. The good news was that most folks were keeping their distance. But even still, you are taking a chance by going into these places. My wife and I have stayed out of them for almost two years, but there comes a time when a person needs pants, shirts, socks and shoes, LOL. So we had to bite the bullet and go get them. We just picked the wrong day. Anyway things worked out, we ate our lunch in our car, taking in what the city had to offer and came on home. All in all, we had a good day. A long, expensive day, but a good day. On the expensive part, things sure cost a lot these days. I can’t see how some of these stores can justify the increase. Like gas for our cars. We live in a country with more natural resources than anyone else in the world, and we Canadians pay the most. Ridiculous really. Today I will be painting our front door as it has been bugging me awhile now. So after I have my morning bowl of cereal, I will get at it. It will be a good job to get out of the way, as I can have the windows in the house open and along with that, I will be giving my old back a bit of a rest, as it isn’t up to par yet. With that, I will chat to you tomorrow if things goes to plan. Have a great day and stay safe, especially with so many people out and about. GW

Fishing Times; Today my old weather stick is saying that the best times to be out there fishing will be between 1:00 PM – 3:30 PM and then again from 7:00 PM – 9:00 PM. I give it a 3-Star Rating out of 5 for catching a few. Good Luck!

Morning Chat, Sept. 7/2021

Good Morning! It’s another great looking day here in Port Loring, Ontario, Canada. The sun is shinning with just a few clouds in the sky. But in saying that, there is a storm warning up for tonight and tomorrow, where we could see a substantial amount of rain, along with some thunder and lightning thrown in for good measure. So … I would suggest that if you have any work that needs doing outside, today would be the day to do it. Highway 522 has slowed down with folks heading home for the summer. I have to say that after being cooped up for a few years not seeing that many people, my wife and I are going to miss them. It’s a crazy world we are living in at the moment. Will things get better? Well, being the age I am, and seeing the things that have happened over the years … it will get better given time. Yesterday I worked some more on our vegetable gardens, getting things ready for winter. I also did a bit of painting on my basement windows. Now that we have all the large projects out of the way for the year, I am now working on the little things that I have wanted to do for the past couple years. With that, I am off for my morning bowl of oatmeal and will then get to doing some outside work before the rain enters into the picture. Take care and stay safe. It’s not the time to let down your defences. GW

Fishing Times: Today the old weather stick is saying that the best time to be out there with pole in hand would be between 12:00 PM – 3:00 PM and then again from 6:30 PM – 9:00 PM. I give it a 5-Star Rating out of 5 for catching a few. One of the best days of the year for fishing. Take care and stay safe, and don’t forget your rain coat. Good Luck!

Morning Chat, Sept. 6/2021

Good Morning. It’s a cloudy morning here in Port Loring, Ontario. The sun was shinning for a wee bit till some clouds rolled in. We should see a wee bit of sunshine off and on for most of the day. It kind of looks like we will have a mixed bag of weather for the next week before things straighten out. All caused by the hurricanes that are moving up from the south. But in saying that, the temperatures will be pretty nice. Getting out of bed, it was sitting at12.4 C | 54.32 F, not too hot … not too cold. Highway 522 was very busy yesterday. Folks in all kinds of vehicles heading back to the big cities or ? Yesterday I worked in our vegetable gardens, cleaning out some weeds and plants that aren’t producing anything anymore. I might put in a row of lettuce, so we can have some fresh salads for the remainder of the year. It only takes a couple of weeks to get up to size for eating. But we will see, as my old back started acting up yesterday morning. I thought the gardening might fix it, but it didn’t. It helped, but it bothered me a lot through the night. I chalk it up to all the work my lovely wife and I have done over the summer. Not much you can do other than take things easy for a few days, and let things heal. It amazes me how us humans abuse our bodies day in and day out, not realizing what we are doing. Especially when you get older. You would think we would know better!! On another note, it won’t be long before my wife and I have to bring in our firewood for winter. That is a job too. We don’t bring in as much as we used to, as this new NewMac Wood Furnace burns a lot more efficient. It cut our wood burning down to less than half of what we were using. Can’t beat that. It is work bringing in the wood, but when them cold days of winter arrive, it sure feels nice when we light it up. With that, I am off for my morning bowl of cereal and will then see what the day has in store, other than what I have planned. Take care and stay safe. This virus is rising in numbers more every day. Mostly through the unvaccinated and young. GW

Fishing Times: Today my old weather stick is saying that the best times to be out there with your line in the water will be from 12:00 PM – 2:00 PM and then again from 6:30 PM – 8:00 PM. It should be a great day for catching a few. I give it a 5-star rating out of 5 for catching a few. Good luck!

Morning Chat, Sept 5/2021

Good Morning. It’s another sunny morning here in Port Loring Ontario, Canada. And if things go to plan, it should remain with us, along with some clouds, for most of the day. The temperature getting out of bed was sitting at 16.9 C | 62.42 F, with the winds coming out of the N West at 4.68 km/h | 2.91 mph. The barometer is rising, which is a good thing. At least weather wise. Highway 522 is still busy these days. We will see how that goes now that the kids are heading back to school next week. Hard to say, as a lot of people are working from home these days, caused by the virus. And as hard as it is to say … a lot of folks don’t want to go back to work. Reason being, they are still getting the money that the government is handing out. I actually know some business that can’t find help and might have to close down. Strange world we live in these days. But, being the country we are, I suspect things will be getting a lot worse in that department. Yesterday, my wife and I worked around our home. I decided to move our weather station to a better location. We moved it and attached it to our new shower house we built earlier in the year. Now that we took down a bunch of trees that needed to be taken down, things are opened up a lot, which makes it just perfect for our weather station to monitor things. I like it a lot, as now I can keep an eye on it from my desk. That will be nice all winter as it will give me something different to look at. And I do enjoy watching and predicting the weather. I have been working with it for most of my life using different methods that my old Dad and Grandfather used, along with my Native friend’s Grey Wolf’s knowledge. For most parts it has been pretty accurate. Today I have my shop to clean up once again. It seems when ever I get to doing things at the end I have a mess to clean up. Not complaining mind ya. With that, I am off for some cranberry pancakes my lovely wife is making me with some Maple Syrup that my friend Mike gave us awhile back. He was the world’s champion a year or so ago. Nice fellow. Take care and stay safe. GW

Fishing Times: Today my old weather stick is saying that the best times to be catching fish are between 10:00 AM – 1:00 PM and then again from 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM. I give it a 3-Star Rating out of 5 for catching a few. Good Luck! Oh, don’t forget your raincoat. It might come in handy.

Morning Chat, Sept. 3/2021

Good Morning! It’s another cloudy, cool morning here in Port Loring, Ontario. But it isn’t as cool as it was yesterday morning. Waking up, the temperature was sitting at13.9 C | 57.02 F. It will warm up as the day progresses. Today will be much like yesterday and if lucky we could see some more sunshine later on. Yesterday turned out nice after a bit, let’s hope today is much the same. The long weekend isn’t looking too good weather wise with showers in the forecast for Saturday, Sunday and Monday and possibly a light shower on Tuesday. But you never know. I am hoping for sunshine. Highway 522 is very busy these days, with lots of trucks, campers, you name it going from east to west. I say that, as it is the only road in and out of our town. LOL Yesterday my lovely wife and I got the mowing all done up. Then the fellow that helped me take down some trees came by with his small excavator and took them away. He will make some lumber out of them, so they won’t go to waste. Nice fellow and knows his stuff. Today I am going to work on my old Rototiller as it needs a new drive belt. Not an easy job. I don’t know why they make it so hard to change the damn things. First you have to take a picture or draw a diagram, so you know how to put the new belt back on, with the belt having to be woven through numerous pulleys. So we will see how that works out. I am thinking it will take me most of the day. At least it did a few years ago when I changed it. With that, I am off for some French Toast that my wife is making me, and then I will get to work. Take care and stay safe.

Fishing Times: This morning my old weather stick is saying that the best times to be out there with your line in the water will be between 9:00 AM – 11:30 AM and then a bit later on between 6:00 PM – 9:30 PM. I give it a 3-Star Rating out of 5 for catching a few. Good Luck!

Morning Chat Sept. 2/2021

Good Morning! It’s a cloudy, cool morning here in Port Loring, Ontario, Canada. The temperature getting out of bed was sitting at 8.9 C | 48.02 F. We could see some sunshine, but for most parts we will be in the midst of a lot of clouds. The temperature will rise up some, as the day moves forward. Highway 522 was pretty busy yesterday, all chalked up to the long weekend that is coming up. Bug Report: The mosquitoes in certain places are still bad, but the others are dwindling. Which is good in one way but bad in other ways. Especially if you’re camping, as them blood seeking parasites find you within minutes. Not much you can do as this is truth be told their home. On another note, my lovely wife and I managed to get the mess cleaned up that was made from taking down trees yesterday. Opened things up around our home and things are looking darn nice. This morning we will get the mowing out of the way for the week, which will make it look even that much nicer. I have to tell you … my wife and I sure enjoy doing some front porch sittin’ taking in our property and what Mother Nature has to offer, Even more so now after all the outside work we both have done this year. With that, I am off for my morning bowl of cereal, and maybe a piece of toast this morning for a change. Take care and stay safe. GW

Fishing Times: This morning, my old weather stick is saying that the best times to have your line in the water will be between 9:00 AM – 11:00 AM and then again from 4:00 PM – 6:00 PM. I give it a 2-Star Rating out of 5 for pulling in a few. Good Luck!!

Morning chat, Sept. 1/2021

Good Morning! It’s a great looking Sept 1st day here in Port Loring, Ontario, Canada. The sun is shinning with the temperature sitting at 8.8 C | 47.84 F. Which, as you can see, that things have cooled down a lot. It will warm up as the day moves forward. But not as warm as it was. And along with that, I don’t suspect we will get any rain until Sunday. And then it won’t amount to much. Highway 522 has quieted down somewhat with the kids getting ready to go back to school. On another note, we have once again been busy taking down some more trees. We took down 15 earlier in the year, my wife and I by ourselves. But there were still four that were leaning the wrong way. So we hired a feller to take them down. I have to say he did a fantastic job. After he left, my wife and I got busy and cleaned things up, which was a job in itself. And we aren’t finished yet. Today we will finish it. But we did get the bulk of the work done yesterday. I do have a couple more small dead ones to come down, which, if I can drum up enough energy, will do later on in the day. First things first. After that, I think we should have all our projects we planned on doing this year completed and then some. It is hard to believe we did what we did. LOL, I don’t know where we got all our energy this year. With that, I am off for my morning bowl of cereal and will then get to work. Take care and stay safe. GW

Fishing Times: Today, my old weather stick is saying that the best times to be out there will be between 8:00 AM – 10:00 AM. Then again from 4:00 PM – 6:30 PM. I give it a 1-Star Rating out of 5 for catching a few. With the weather cooling down, it will slow things down some. But later on in the week it will get better. Good Luck!

Morning Chat Aug 30/2021

Good Morning! It looks like it is shaping up to be a nice day here in Port Loring, Ontario, Canada. The sun is shinning and as of now the humidity has left us. The temperatures have dropped substantially and truth be told it will be a pleasant day. Getting out of bed, the temperature was sitting at 18.1 C | 64.58 F. It will warm up a bit, but not as much as it has been. The good news is we didn’t have any tornados in our are yesterday or through the night. They did however have one north of North Bay, but I don’t think it did do much damage. But looking at our weather and how it is changing I am thinking over the next few years we will be having some not so good weather. Humans are to blame a wee bit, but there are a lot of other factors that we have to take into account too. Like one would be that our earth from the inside is getting hotter and edging up. Let’s hope things will straighten out in the coming years. If the virus wasn’t bad enough … sheesh. Highway 522 is still busy, but it is slowing down somewhat. Man we are almost into September, hard to believe as to me the summer has flown by. Yesterday I worked in our basement fixing a few things that needed to be done. Today I am going to paint the walls down there. I will see how that works out. I like to get it done while I can have the windows open. And before we put in firewood for winter. Which won’t be long. With that I am off for my morning bowl of oatmeal and will then see what the day has in store. Life is a mystery. Take care and stay safe. GW

Fishing Times: Today my old weather stick is saying that fishing will be the best between … 2:00 PM and 4:00 PM and then possibly between 6:00 PM and 8:00 PM. I give it a 2-Star Rating out of 5 for catching a few. Good Luck!

Morning chat Aug 29/2021

Good Morning. With the way things are going, it looks like we might have some more rain off and on throughout the day. However, tomorrow things take a change for the better with some real nice weather moving into our area. Not as hot, less humidity and lots of sunshine. Which should last well into next week. Actually, there might be a day or so later on in the week, that a jacket might be necessary. Hmm, maybe I should get my long handles out of storage. LOL Just seems like yesterday I put them away for the summer. Highway 522 is still busy, as is Highway 11 and 69. Yesterday my lovely wife and I went to North Bay to pick up some groceries before the long weekend, and we noticed a lot of campers, trucks with boats, you name it heading back to the cities. So in that department things haven’t changed much. In town, there were lots of folks in the stores and going everywhere. You wouldn’t know there was a virus among us. Which, of course, will make the number of infections rise even more than it is now. We were up over the 800 a day yesterday here in Ontario. I suspect it will get a lot worse before it gets better. The unvaccinated are the ones that takes the largest hit. I feel for them, but there isn’t much anyone can do about it. They made their own choice. While in town we ate our lunch in our car, took in what the city had to offer and headed on home chatting to our sons on the phone. It’s nice to be able to chat to them. Even if we haven’t seen each other much over the past two years. We also noticed that a lot of the leaves are turning colour along the way, along with a few flocks of Canadian Geese heading south. I kind of think they should be staying up here for a few more weeks, where it’s cool. But … nature has a mind of its own. Today if it doesn’t rain I will work up a spot in my vegetable garden and plant some more lettuce, which should last us for the remainder of the summer. We have been eating tomatoes for the past month along with selling a few baskets out front of our home on a trailer we have set up. We also have had an abundance of Zucchini this year. I put out a wheelbarrow load yesterday, and most of them sold before we got home from grocery shopping. With that bit of info under your hat … if you wear a hat, I am off for my morning bowl off cereal and will then see what the day has in store. Take care and stay safe. GW

Fishing Times: This morning, my old weather stick is saying that the best times to be out there catching a few will be between 1:00 PM and 2:30 PM and then again from 5:00 PM and 7:30 PM. I give it a 2-star rating out of 5 for catching a few. If you are heading out, I would suggest you bring along your raincoat. Good Luck!

Morning Chat Aug 27/2021

Good Morning. Once again it is a nice day here in Port Loring, Ontario, Canada. The sun is shinning with one difference than yesterday. The temperature has cooled off, sitting at 14.6 C | 58.28 F. It will rise a wee bit as the day progresses. But not as hot as it was, and the humidity will be left behind. This is the kind of weather I enjoy. The thing is, I have most of all the outside work that we wanted to do this summer finished, LOL. But that’s okay, as now my lovely wife and I can enjoy what we have accomplished and relax a bit. Maybe even do some fishing. I will wait a few days, though, until the fish become accustomed to the cooler weather. Highway 522 is busy, but it is slowing down a wee bit. I suspect it is because everyone is leaving cottage country heading back to the big cities, getting things ready for their kids to go back to school. Is that a good thing? I don’t think so, but there are a lot that does. Time will tell, as even now the infection rate from this virus in Ontario and across Canada is rising every day. For my wife and I, even though we have had our two Pfizer Shots, we are still wearing a mask when around people, keeping our distance and only going to places that is absolutely necessary. Along with a lot of sanitary precautions, like washing our hands and groceries after being out amongst others or stores. I don’t think this is the time to let down our defences. The thing is even though we have had our shots we can still pass it to others that doesn’t have them. Anyway, enough of that. I am off for my morning bowl of cereal and will then see what the day has in store. Take care and stay safe. GW

Fishing Times: Today our old weather stick is saying that the best times to be out there fishing will be from 3:00 PM – 5:00 PM and then again from 7:00 PM – 9:00 PM. I give it a 1-star rating out of 5 for catching a few. Not the greatest day, but you never know. Good Luck!

Great Man

Here we go again. A great man (John Wayne) being put down because he said things he believed in, I believe John Wayne had the ability to see things that a lot of others didn’t. Or didn’t want to. He spoke his mind and let others speak theirs. You know, I believe that … some people don’t want to hear the truth. Why? Well, simply put, they don’t want their illusions destroyed. Not all, but some’. His son wrapped it up in just a few words:

“He wanted to work with people who earned their place,” Ethan Wayne explained. “He didn’t think anybody should get a job because he was a man, because she was a woman, because they were gay, because they were straight, because they were Chinese, African-American or Mexican. He thought you should get a job because you were the right person to do that job. Because you had skill and talent, and you would show up and get the job done. He didn’t care what you were.

Morning Post, Aug 26/2021

Good Morning. Once again we are having some fine weather here in Port Loring, Ontario, Canada. The sun is shinning, with a bit of haze. It will be very warm once again today, but then … things start to change for the better. Meaning it will cool down some. Which is okay by me, as I am not a lover of the really hot weather. And on top of that, I would like to do some fishing, now that I have my boat and motor almost ready to go. And a place to clean the fish we catch, as I finished up my new fish cleaning station that I have been working on for the past two days. It’s amazing what you can do if you just do it. I didn’t have any plans to work with and just went with it, and it turned out pretty nice. If I do say so myself. LOL Today my lovely wife and I have mowing to do, which we will get to shortly, before it gets to hot. After that we will see. I am thinking I will see if my old motor on the boat will start, as I haven’t had it running for almost two years. And if things goes to plan, I will hook up my old fish finder. Not that I really use it that much, but it is nice to know where the shoals are, as that is usually where the good size fish hang around. Not on top, but around the edges. But you all know that, right? LOL, Highway 522 is still very busy these days, which is to be expected, since we opened things back up and allowed people in from other countries. And they are coming … in droves. Let’s hope things work out for the best. With that, I am off for my morning bowl of oatmeal, which has a lot of good in it for staying healthy. Take care and stay safe. GW

Fishing Times: Today, my old weather stick is saying that the best times to be catching fish will be between 3:00 PM and 5:00 PM. Then again a bit later on in the day between7:30 PM and 9:00 PM. It won’t be the greatest day for fishing as all this hot weather has made them lazy along with hiding down deep where it is cool. But you never know. I give it a 1-star rating out of 5 for catching a few. Good Luck! GW

Morning Chat Aug 23/2021

Good Morning! It looks like we are in for another hot day here in Port Loring, Ontario, Canada. The sun is red, which is a sign that things are going to get a bit warm. We should see some reprieve in a couple of days. Which is okay with me as being so hot it is hard to even do some front porch sittin’ Highway 522 is still very busy these days and I suspect it will remain that way until the kids are back in school. Which I don’t think is a good idea, as a lot of them aren’t vaccinated for this virus. The numbers are rising every day now since we opened back up. We are up over the 700 a day now. Kind of a shame, as we did have it under control. Another month and we would have been in a lot better shape. But it’s par for the course these days. On another note, I worked building a fish cleaning station yesterday and darn near finished it. I made it out of left over material that I had lying around. It turned out pretty nice too. Today I will stain the bottom of it and move it to where we want it. That should keep me busy for most of the day. It’s nice doing these kinds of projects. Things that we wouldn’t usually do for ourselves. I will post a picture when all said and done With that I am off for my morning bowl of cereal and will then see what the day has in store. Take care and stay safe. This is no time to let down your defences, that’s for sure. GW

Fishing Times: My old weather stick is saying that fishing will be the best from 1:00 PM – 3:00 PM and then later on from 7:00 PM – 8:30 PM. Good luck and stay safe. GW

Fake Home Rental or For sale Scam

It should be noted that there is a lot of scams online going around. One is an outfit that says certain properties are for sale when they aren’t. I found this out with my son’s help, as this company has my house for sale or rent online when it isn’t. We have had people calling every day asking us if it is for sale. So a person has to be careful nowadays. This company that is doing this is based in Spain. They probably can’t do anything, but one should be wary just the same. Thought I would let folks know. And in case you see this add …. Our Home Isn’t For Sale!! LOL. Take care and stay safe. GW

Good Morning! It looks like we are going to have another hot day here in Port Loring, Ontario, Canada. The temperature getting out of bed wasn’t so bad, sitting at18.8 C | 65.84 F. But that will change as the temperature will rise as the day progress’s. And with hot weather like this, we could see a thunderstorm thrown in for good measure later on. It looks like we will have another 3 days of this heat before things start to cool down a bit. I have to admit, I am not a lover of this heat. Highway 522 is still busy with lots of new faces around town. Home Hardware was so busy yesterday, people were lined up at the cash register. Which in turn states that our small community is getting busier and busier every year. Along with new folks buying up pretty well anything and everything. Is it a good thing? Time will tell. Yesterday in the morning I decided to put up another outside light on the side of our cottage by the barbecue along with a plug and an on and off switch. That way, if folks decide to have a barbecue late in the day, they will have light to see what they are doing. The plug is for the Grill Rotisserie, or what ever. It took me all morning and a bit of the afternoon. After that we chatted to our son on the phone for a spell, had a shower and relaxed. Today, I plan on starting to build a fish cleaning station onto the side of our shower house, that my wife and I built earlier in the year. I have a few ideas in mind, so we will see how that pans out. If it gets to hot later on, I will call it a day. With that I am off for some pancakes my lovely wife is making me and will then get to work. Have a great day and stay safe. GW

Fishing Times: Today, my old weather stick is saying that the best times to be out there fishing will be from 12:00 PM – 2:30 PM. Then again later on from 7:00 PM – 9:00 PM. In spite of the heat, the fishing could be very good later on in the day. I give it a 5-Star Rating out of 5 for catching a few. There should be no problem catching a few for the table today. But then again … you never know. Oh, and it might pay to take a rain coat with you if you’re out on the water and of course your hat. We don’t want anyone getting wet or sunstroke. LOL Good Luck!

Morning Char Aug20/2021

Good Morning. It’s another nice looking morning here in Port Loring, Ontario, Canada. Other than being a touch warm. There are heat warnings up for the next couple of days. Today we could see temperatures reaching near the 95 Degree F mark or 35C. With the humidity, it will feel even warmer. Might pay to keep the drapes in your home closed this morning to keep out the heat. Just a thought. Highway 522 is very busy these days. Yesterday, my wife and I managed to get the mowing all done in the morning. I then did some repair work on some equipment in the afternoon until it got to hot. Today being so hot, I am going to stain the back deck. In doing so, it will dry nicely. That I will do this morning while it isn’t so bad outside. Then I am thinking I will just take it easy for the rest of the day. Maybe have a cool drink with my lovely wife under a shade tree later on. The good news is my wife and I are slowly getting everything done up that we wanted to do this year, and then some. Once it cools down some, we will be taking some time off from things to do some fishing, and taking in what nature has to offer out on the water. Looking forward to it. With that, I am off for my morning bowl of oatmeal and will then see what the day has in store. You never know. Take care and stay safe.

Fishing Times: The best times to be out there today will be from 10:00 AM – 1:00 PM and then again from 6:30 PM – 8:00 PM. I give it a 3-Star Rating out of 5 for catching a few. The best place to find them would be in the shady areas along the shore lines. Also, make sure, if you’re out on the water, you bring along lots of drinking water and wear a hat. Good Luck!

Good Morning! It’s another nice day here in Port Loring, Ontario, other than being at touch warm. Waking up, the temperature was sitting at17.9 C | 64.22 F. It will actually become quite hot later on in the day, and this heat ridge will last for the next 5 days. At least that is what it is looking like now. Tomorrow we could reach as high as 90 F/32C. Maybe even higher. So a cool place would be the place to find for the next few days. Highway 522 is still busy. I also see a lot of Americans now back up in the north, checking out their cottages. Yesterday, my wife and I went to North Bay for some groceries. Lots of people shopping. We picked up what we needed and headed on back home. We had a nice day. Furthermore, we also noticed that the leaves on the trees are starting to turn colour. Actually, they started to turn a week ago. A touch early this year. I guess they need a rest. Can’t say I blame them as we have had a busy year too. It also should be noted that this is one of the best years without a lot of them blood sucking parasites bothering us humans. The heat makes short work of them. Today is mowing day for my lovely wife and I, which we want to get done before it gets to hot. So with that in mind I am off for my morning bowl of cereal and will then see what the day has in store other than what we have planned. We always start off in one direction, but … you never know. Take care and stay safe. GW

Fishing Times: The best time to be out there fishing will be from 10:30 AM – 12:00 PM, and then later on in the day from 6:30 PM – 8:30 PM. I give it a 3-Star Rating out of 5 for catching a few. Good Luck!!

Morning Chat Aug 18/2021

Good Morning! It’s a foggy morning here in Port Loring, Ontario. We didn’t have any rain overnight, but it is damp. Our temperature here in town is sitting at 15.8 C | 60.44 F. It will get pretty hot as the day moves forward, and it will remain very warm for the next 4 days. So I would suggest that if you have any outside work to be done, to do it in the early morning hours while it is cool. Once this warm spell is over … in a few days, things will get back to normal, or as some would say seasonal. Highway 522 is still busy, very busy, actually. The busiest store in town is the LCBO, LOL. On another note, even though our small store is closed because of the virus, people are still coming in knocking at our door for flutes, my books and my wife’s paintings. We don’t have things displayed nicely, but we do accommodate most bringing some things to show them outside. Next spring we will have a grand new opening with a lot of new products. Today I am going to finish working on our boat, getting it ready for fishing. I have been working on it now for the past two days. After that, I will be heading out with my good friend Barry (My Fishing Buddy) and see if we can hook on a nice pickerel or two.

Fishing Times: The best times to be out there fishing today will be between 9:00 AM- and 11:00 AM and then a bit later on from 5:00 PM – 8:00 PM. Good Luck and Remember, when it comes to this virus. Masking works, distancing works, washing your hands works, and ventilation in schools homes and business’s work well too. And of course the vaccines, Pfizer or Moderna. All these things will slow the virus from spreading, or for that matter … getting stronger.

Now get out there and catch some fish!!
