News For Port Loring

Quiet this morning.  Yesterday it was quite busy traffic wise with the trucks hauling stone for the surfacing of Highway 522 coming in from Highway 69, on going all day long.  Also a few tourist dropping by too. Young ones  are heading back to school soon and that is when the folks that love the quietness head up into your area.  Seems to be that way every year.  At any rate it is nice to see them all.   Enjoy your day my friends and if driving stay safe.

A Bit More On West Nile virus (WNv)

I as talking yesterday about this West Nile virus (WNv) and how they are spraying all these deadly chemicals into our air and what effects it will play on us humans along with all the good insects of the world. Here is a link this morning that gives you an even greater look at what is happening.  http://www.naturalnews.com/036877_aerial_spraying_West_Nile_virus_chemicals.html

Not so much as of yet here in Canada but it is on the way you can bank on that and in the near future if not being done already.  The ones behind this are the huge corporations of course.  The ones that can stop this is our Governments.  Will they? Not until the effects touch their own lives or their children’s life and even then I am very doubtful.  If this continues we all will suffer immensely, as a lot of us are now suffering from what is in our foods, air and water.  Not to forget the unorthodox methods of how they are treating us that are sick.   What Can you do? Stand up for what is right, call your local governments and tell them your feelings.  Also speak out and let others know exactly how you feel on these things that are happening in the world today.  One voice means nothing, millions means a lot. Also do the research on things like medicines, treatments, the food we eat and water we drink. If folks did more of this and took the blinders off the world would be a much better place.  One has to stop relying on others and trust their own judgments of what is right.

News For Port Loring

Still quiet around town, grass is sure growing though,  looks like I will have to start up the old rider lawn mower this week.  It has been resting most the summer with all the dry weather we have been having.  Wasn’t any grass to cut, first time in ten years that it has been this dry at least for us here in Port Loring.  Things are changing though, as we have been having rain now off and on for the past two weeks and more in the forecast.  On another note, got most my firewood in for winter pretty well, will finish that up this morning easily.  Also took a bit of time yesterday to clean the old pipes free of creosote, good to do that about three times through burning season.  Could save one a lot of grief.  Well tea time here and heading out to soak up some of that sunshine while it is showing herself.  Got to get it while the gettin’ is good.  Enjoy your day my friends.

My Views On West Nile

You know for the past couple years now these so called Powers that be, has been putting fear into folks relating to West Nile Virus.  First off if one would do some research they would find that there is no actual evidence that this virus even exists.  So what does this all suggest?  Well I will tell you what I believe to be true……A major error was set up in the understanding of why many birds and some individuals are becoming ill. Along with an  unnecessary and costly West Nile virus industry, consisting of drug development, vaccine-making, public health fear and much much more.  I would have to say that the spraying of mosquitoes now will cause greater harm to us humans than anyone can ever imagine. One has to remember, we are humans  as we are nature.  To destroy nature, well……. we destroy ourselves. My Opinion Only.

Events & Things

Good morning.  Well we should see weather wise, some sunshine today, but in saying this we might also see a thunderstorm or two this afternoon. High today will reach 67F. Winds W at 5 to 10 mph. Chance of rain 30%. Then a shower or two possible this evening with partly cloudy skies overnight. Low 49F. Winds WSW at 5 to 10 mph. Chance of rain 30%.  Barometer is holding steady and has been through the night.  It is sitting at 29.06 in Hg.  Good sign for some nicer weather.  The moon will rise at: 8:47 AM
& set at 8:54 PM.  Moon Phase is; Solunar Table Moon Phase is 5% percent waxing crescent  5%  Waxing
Crescent.  The sun woke behind a some clouds that is producing some rain at the moment at; 6:23 AM & will set at 8:19 PM, giving us here in Port Loring; 13 hrs. 56 mins. of daylight.  We lost two minutes of daylight.  For those wanting to do some fishing today.  Well the old weather stick says the best times to be out there will be from; 8:00 AM – 10:00 AM. Then again from; 3:00 PM – 5:00 PM and then once again if your up to some night fishing, from 8:30 PM – 9:30 PM.  So lots of time to get that line in the water today, let me tell ya.

News For Port Loring

Not to much to report here this morning, actually quite quiet around town.  We have been busy at our small store though through the week, folks dropping by to pick out their favorite native flute or one of my four short story books, relating to a young fellow growing up in a farm atmosphere.  Along with my gardening book.  Makes my day when folks drop by and say hello.  Well tea time here, then once the rain stops will get busy and clean out the old chimney for the upcoming burning season. One thing that should definably be done before you light up the old wood furnace or stove.  Enjoy your day my friends and when that sun gets to shinning, get out there, roll up your sleeves and soak up some of what nature has to offer.  Better than any doctor’s prescription let me tell ya.

Events & Things

Chance of rain 30%.  The barometer is rising, and is sitting at the moment at; 29.09 in Hg.  The moon will rise at; 7:36 AM  & set at 8:26 PM.  Moon Phase is; Solunar Table Moon Phase is 1% percent waxing crescent  1% Waxing Crescent.  The sun got out of bed at; 6:22 AM & she will set at: 8:21 PM, giving us here in Port Loring; 13 hrs. 59 mins. of daylight. News For Port Loring

Not to much to report around town. Folks are enjoying their days at home it seems.  But a few are out and about, which is what one needs that is in business.  Yesterday I started bringing in firewood for winter. Takes me three good days of steady work to get it in and piled. But once done I am all set for winter. I usually put in around sixteen cords of good hardwood and dry.  Enjoy the sunshine my friends.

Events & Things

Windy.  some sunshine with a possible shower later on in the day. High 61F. Winds WSW at 15 to 25 mph. Chance of rain 30%.  This evening clouds will give way to clearing overnight. Low 47F. The moon will rise at; 6:26 AM & then set at 7:59 PM.  Moon Phase is Solunar Table Moon Phase is 0% percent new moon  0%  NEW  MOON..  The sun rose this morning at; 6:21 AM and will set at: 8:22 PM, giving us here in Port Loring Ontario, 14 hrs. 01 mins..  Lost three minutes of daylight yesterday.  For those wanting to do some fishing which is about the best day of the month to be out there; well the old weather stick says the best times to be fishing will be from; 1:00 PM – 3:30 PM and then again from; 7:30 PM – 9:00 PM.

The price of admission is the same as before $12.00 at the gate and $10.00 advance with advance tickets available until Aug 25th at Argyle Fuels, Jakes Place or by contacting Betty Webb at (705) 757- 2504.  Those buying advance tickets will be entered into an early bird draw for a prize valued at $200.00 so get your tickets early.   Enclosed are raffle tickets for a BBQ and second prize is a gazebo – thank you to Rob at Port Loring Home Hardware.

You can fill out your raffle tickets and mail them to us with the money if you cannot attend the Cornfest – by August 26th – or bring them with you to enter in the draw at the gate.

On the snowmobile scene there has been an increase of $10 in the cost for permits  – to $210.00 if purchased before Dec1st and $260.00 after Dec 1st.  Permits will be available some time in September – so buy early and save – just get it out of the way so you don’t forget.  The Snow insurance Guarantee has been scrapped , wonder why ?

The Argyle Riders are in the process of re-decking the bridge at Wellers Folly.  This is a major undertaking and will involve considerable expense, however,  this is a scenic part of our trail system and we will endeavor to make this a success.
