Port Loring Weather Station Up Date

My weather station is currently having some problems uploading to our personal web site.  In order to compensate for the problem all the data is taken directly from our home here in Port Loring and directed to Weather Underground.  Just click on the Port Loring Link On the Left of the screen down near the bottom and you will be directed to our data.  Until the problem if corrected this will be our official site for the weather here in Port Loring and a surrounding area of around fifty miles.  All sensors still working.  Or this link will take you there also. Just copy and paste.

Port Loring 1945 Bit Of History

This here picture was taken many years ago right here at our home in Port Loring.  Old George was quite a feller for sure along with being self reliant.  Don’t think there was ever a job that came along that he couldn’t remedy.  Here is a picture of his home made saw.  I still got a bit of here at the house.  Old Ice House in the back is still standing too.   Click To Enlarge

Working Away Here In Port Loring

Well so much going on these days with the preparation of our new book just haven’t had time to get on here at the Blog to do any posting.  Oh well such is that, there is lots to read on here as it is though.  But in the coming days I will try and get back to my answering of some folks questions.  Snowing hard here today but can’t complain as I haven’t had to take out my snow blower yet this winter.  Now that is something for this country.

On Your Next Trip To The Grocery Store You Might Want To Take Some Extra Care.

Thought this bit of information might make you take a bit more care of what your eating these days.  Now don’t get me wrong, I didn’t stop eating all of them totally, but I did cut back quite a bit let me tell ya.  Take A Look.

1) Sodium nitrite — causes cancer, found in processed meats like hot dogs, bacon, sausage. Used to make meats appear red (a color fixer chemical).

2) Hydrogenated oils — causes heart disease, nutritional deficiencies, general deterioration of cellular health, and much more. Found in cookies, crackers, margarine and many “manufactured” foods. Used to make oils stay in the food, extending shelf life. Sometimes also called “plastic fat.”

3) Excitotoxins — aspartame, monosodium glutamate and others (see below). These neurotoxic chemical additives directly harm nerve cells, over-exciting them to the point of cell death, according to Dr. Russell Blaylock. They’re found in diet soda, canned soup, salad dressing, breakfast sausage and even many manufactured vegetarian foods. They’re used to add flavor to over-processed, boring foods that have had the life cooked out of them.

Did you know, for example, that:

  • Feeding children hot dogs increases their risk of brain cancer by 300%?
  • Strawberry yogurt, fruit punch and other red-looking grocery products are often colored with dead, ground-up cochineal beetles? The ingredient is called “carmine,” and it’s made from insects. It’s listed right on the label of many of your favorite foods.
  • Food companies now “hide” MSG in safe-sounding ingredients like yeast extract or torula yeast?
  • Many Florida oranges are actually dipped in an artificial orange dye in order to make them more visually appealing? It’s the same dye that’s been banned for use in foods because of cancer risk.
  • Girl Scout cookies are still made with hydrogenated oils that contain trans fatty acids?
  • Many so-called “healthy” or vegetarian foods also contain the very same offending ingredients as conventional groceries?
  • Eating just one serving of processed meats each day increases your risk of pancreatic cancer by 67%?
  • One artificial color additive causes behavioral disorders in children? And that 80% of children diagnosed with ADHD can be outright cured of the condition in two weeks by avoiding certain ingredients?
  • The #1 ingredient in Slim Fast meal replacement shake (powder form) is sugar?
  • Some guacamole dips don’t even contain avocado? Instead, they’re made with hydrogenated soybean oil and artificial colors.

Everything I’m sharing here is absolutely true. It’s all quite shocking, yes, but this is information you need to know if you want to feed yourself — and your family — foods that actually promote health instead of disease.

Update On My Third Book

So hows every one been doing?  Myself I have been steadily working on the third book which will be coming out this spring, say around first of June or end of May.   Things are going as planned and I got a feeling it is going to be an exceptional book, with a whole new cover look, more stories, longer stories, fantastic sketches by my wife and a few surprises thrown it to boot.   Cold here this morning down to around 5 below old scale/. Still don’t like that metric no matter what folks get to tellin’ me.  Old wood furnace here is earning its keep in-spite of all the huff over global warming.  Burned six cords so far this year but looking at things nature, the rest of this month it is going to be a bit above normal I am thinking so….that is a good thing.   Well guess it’s time to have a cup of that fresh perked coffee that my lovely wife put on and get to doing things around here.  Take Care and have a great day.

Health Care Plan In The USA

Thought this was an interesting note on what one American thought of the new health care system that is being introduced in their country now.  Take a look.

As an American, I refuse to buy mandatory health insurance that financially supports a corrupt, fraudulent health care system. If I’m going to be forced to buy health insurance, why doesn’t the insurance cover the health services I would choose such as naturopathic care, homeopathy, acupuncture and chiropractic care? Notice how the new health care reform racket mainly covers drugs and surgery while leaving out all the natural therapies that really promote health?

Myself, I would think one would be a lot better off using the natural therapies, no insurance necessary.  I know some would say there is a lot of surgeries out there that one might need and can’t afford.  I say that is the least of what is necessary in their plan and if anything, the surgery part in itself would probably hardly be even needed if the other natural therapies would have been covered.  Taking it one step further through my eyes, it would take nothing for a country like the USA to introduce a plan to cover all surgery alone for folks and should be. The ones that goes ahead here are the drug companies and the insurance companies, don’t take no lawyer to figure that out.  But some will say, hey any plan is better than no plan and close their eyes.  I guess you could say their plan is something like ours here in Canada, not covering the important things. Interesting point the fellow was making though.  My opinion only.

How To Get Your Stories Down On Paper

For a few years now folks have come up to me and asked for some tips on how he or she could get into writing.  Well thinking about that I decided to put down a few words here on how I do it.  Hope this helps.

1. Do not wait until you have gathered all your material to begin writing. Once you have some idea of your topic, you should start writing.
2. Do not avoid writing something down for fear of having to change it later. When you have an idea, you should write it down even if it is out of place. With modern word processor technology, changes can be made quickly and easily.
3. After you have begun writing, do not stop. That way, you won’t lose your train of thought.
4. If you become mired on a particular part, reread your previous several pages to see if you can use continuity of thought to push you past your difficulty.
5. Always be on the lookout for ideas, facts, or words that may make a good beginning to a new section or chapter of your writing.
6. Often an opening paragraph will, upon rereading, seem alien to that which follows it. Such an occurrence is no cause for great concern and can be remedied through rephrasing or removal.
7. You should know your preferences and peculiarities regarding the mechanics of composition, whether you prefer to write a draft in pen first and then type it or how you like your books and notes positioned. Other important factors may include lighting, posture, and clothing. By indulging yourself with these seeming trivialities, you will have no excuse to put off your task, and the future presence of these factors will elicit good working habits.  The most important of all things would be.   Just Be Yourself.  If you are to be a writer or poet of words, it will happen, believe me.  Happy New Year.

Recycling & Things Related

George what is your feelings on garbage and recycling?

You know, folks today have really got their thinking messed up;  Take all this recycling they got going today with garbage pick up.  First off I see it as a cost to the public and more of a threat to our system than if we didn’t do it at all, recycling that is.  Reason being?  Well think about this.  First off the huge cities when getting into this recycling have to buy more huge trucks which in turn burn more fuel which in turn puts more pollution into the air.  All that this does is put more of a strain on our system.  What’s the answer?  Well I believe the answer to our problem of getting rid of waste is to only save what we no there is a use for, like certain pop cans, steel, and some plastics and cardboard.  The rest forget about it, waste of time.  For the rest of the items I feel we should be burning it.  You know years ago in a small town called Smithville Ontario a fellow came up with burner that would burn all our garbage with an efficiency of around 98%.  I seen it and watched it work.  Great thing in my eyes.  We could then use this unit to produce hydro and things like that.  Now in my eyes that would make more sense than just dumping it in a landfill sight. As all we are doing there is adding more pollution to our soil and eventually even destroying the good water we have now.  Thing is though, the Powers That Be don’t want this to happen, saying it isn’t good enough. I say dam, what we got now sure isn’t good for man kind.  What we got here is, folks that isn’t thinking of what is good for the world, they are in reality thinking what is good for their pocket books. There is no other system in the world that can offer 98% efficiency like burning.  Simple As That.  My Opinion Only.

Becoming More Self Reliant Question.

George, what is your feelings on this article?

Seniors who are exposed to significant levels of air pollution for more than a year face double the risk of pneumonia, Canadian researchers report.

You know reading that piece of information just goes to show one how folks minds work today.  Think about it, anyone should know that if the air isn’t the greatest it will contribute to all kinds of problems like Pneumonia.  Trouble is, there are a lot of people out there today that can’t visualise things any more and depend on others to do their thinking for them.  Just one more reason why this country should be  looking at becoming more self reliant and stop depending on others to do our thinking for us.  My Opinion Only
