Happenings In & Around Port Loring Ontario Canada

Good Morning.  Cloudy morning waking up.  Temperatures though have remained above freezing throughout the night.  Lot of melting taking place at this time.  Temperatures were sitting at; 1.2 C | 34.16 F.

Forecast For Today:  Cloudy, with a possible flurry or rain off and on through the day.  Melting will continue.

Highway Report:  Highway 522 is bare but wet throughout.   Travelling should be okay for most of the day.

Snow Report:  Well over half our snow is gone.  No snow accumulations over night.

Around Town:  Just about time to start thinking on starting some of them seeds from last year.  I like to get mine up a ways which takes time.  Nothing gives me more pleasure than to see them sprouting up out of the soil.  Once it warms up they will be ready to plant in the garden.  Myself I start mine in egg cartons.  I found that the carton itself holds the moisture in the right amounts to sustain the seeds for a good length of time.  Also keeps them separated nicely. Nothing more satisfying than growing your own, especially from seeds.  Enjoy your day and say safe.  You can reach me at                        [email protected]

Happenings In & Around Port Loring Ontario Canada

Good Morning:  Bit cloudy and cool waking up.  Temperatures were sitting at -16.9 C | 1.58 F.

Forecast For Today: Stormy and very cold. Will stay very cold over night and into Friday.

Snow Report:  No accumulations over night.

Highway Report:  Highway 522 does have some bare areas but does have some hard packed icy sections.  Care should be taken if out travelling.

Ice Fishing Times:  This morning the old weather stick is saying that the best times to be out there will be from 6:30 AM – 9:00 AM.  Then again from 2:00 PM – 4:30 PM.  I give it a 4 fish rating out of 5 for catching a few.  Good Luck.

Around Town: All is quiet.  For my wife and I we have been steadily enjoying our home made preserves from last years crops.  Preserving is a great way of getting the much needed vitamins and nourishment  this time of year.  We do up around 80 jars of tomatoes from our gardens along with other veggies and come summer of the following year they are pretty well all gone.  Along with them our dried herbs make a great additive to the different dishes my wife makes.  Seems to bring the body into a state that keeps asking for more.  Tea time here, English Breakfast with a leave or two of Dandelion.  Great way to start ones day.  In Closing, I Would Like To Wish You Well.  You can reach George Walters at [email protected]

Information For Port Loring & District

Good Morning:  Well what can I say other than another rainy day here in Port Loring to start things off.  We sure are getting our share this year.  Temperatures are still up there a bit sitting this morning waking up at…  7.6 C | 45.68 F.

Forecast For Today:  Mostly very unsettled.  Temperatures will slowly drop after today and there is a slight chance of some flurries in the air for Friday.  Just have to wait it out to see.

Hunting Times:  Today the old weather stick is saying that the best times to be out there will be from… 1:00 PM – 3:00 PM.  Exact times will be 1:00 PM, 3:00 PM and 6:00 PM. The sun rose at 7:56 and will set at 6:11 PM.  Winds are coming in from the..West South West and at the moment calm.  They will rise a bit later to around 9 MPH.  I give it a 3 Buck Rating out of 5 for seeing a few.  Major feeding time will be a half hour before dusk.  They are still in Pre Rut Season.

Around Town:  Highway 522 is Bare and Wet.  For myself today got some inside work to do and will be taking it a bit easy.  Old body is telling me to rest up some.  Around town here things are slowing down some business wise.  But that is to be expected this time of year.  Thinking though most folks made out OK, at least with the ones I have chatted to over summer.  Gardens here are all done up for winter.  Garlic is planted and in their beds snug and warm for what is to come and should make a good showing come spring.  Don’t think there is a more healthier food one could add to their diet, cooked or raw.  So my friends, stay warm and dry, chat tomorrow.  You can reach me George Walters at.. Port Loring Ontarion Canada…News, Weather & Hunting Times

Good Morning.  Well another frosty morning here in Port Loring Ontario.  But on the good side the sun is shinning.  Temperatures waking up were sitting at…-2.5 C | 27.5 F

Forecast For Today:  Mostly Sunshine Today with temperatures warming up to             13 C / 56 F.  So not a bad day shaping up.

Hunting Times:   Today Grandfathers Formula says the best times to be out there will be from 11:00 AM – 12:30 PM.  Then a bit later from  4:30 PM – 6:00 PM.  Prime times are… 9:00 AM, 1:00 PM & 6:00 PM.  Sun rose at 7:47 and will set at 6:20 PM.  Lots of time to hunt.  Winds today are coming in from the North  and at the moment is calm.  They will increase a bit later to about 5 MPH.  So pick your spot wisely and good luck.  I give it a 3 Buck Rating out of 5 for seeing a few today.

Around Town:  Well yesterday I decided to try and see if I could get the tiller into the garden. Being so wet didn’t think it would work out but it did, so got it tilled up and in doing so thought I might be lucky enough and get my garlic planted.  Which I did.  So it is all planted and covered with leaves.  Come spring should have a really nice crop of garlic I am thinking.  This year I got some special kind from a friend that grows it for a living.  He brought me up quite a bit so will have lots for next year. The cloves are about the size of a normal bulb you buy in the store.  He said I would enjoy these ones come next summer.  So time will tell.  Good feeling with things getting done up around the homestead here.  Still got to bring in the firewood but got to wait till the old back eases up some, as it is not feeling so good these days.  Cold weather doesn’t help much neither.  So my friends have a great day.  You Can Reach George Walters at…  [email protected]

Port Loring Ontario Canada…Happenings

Good Morning:  Well a bit of rain us falling upon us here in Port Loring this morning.  Temperatures waking up were sitting at….11.4 C | 52.52 F

Forecast For Today:   Showery early, improving as the day progresses.

Fishing Times:  This morning the old weather stick is saying that the best times to be out there will be from…2:00 PM – 4:00 PM.  I give it a 2 fish rating out of 4 for catching them.  A rain coat would be on order for today.

Around Town: Few trucks moving around this morning on Highway 522 but that is about it.  Stores are on the quiet side  as the leaves of fall surround them.  Gives me a good feeling inside knowing that nature is on the verge of resting for a few months.  As us humans should be doing also.  On another note, I have my gardens pretty well all set for next year.  Will add some leaves to them as they come down.  Then once piled high will till it up one last time and plant my garlic.  Tea time here my friends, enjoy your day and if you do nothing else today try and get out for a bit and breath in some of our fresh northern air.  Great for the body and soul.

Port Loring Information, Weather & Fishing Times

Good Morning:   Well another beauty of a day is upon us.  Sun is up early with hardly a cloud intervening with its choice to be shown.  Temperatures were a touch cool waking up sitting at…7 C | 44.6 F.

Weather Forecast For Today:    Becoming fine, with lots of sunshine and temperatures rising up to near 22 C / 70 F.  Should be no one complaining about the weather in our area today.

Fishing Times:   This morning the old weather stick is saying that the best times to be out there will be from 7:00 AM – 10:00 AM.  Then once again from 3:00 PM – 5:30 PM.  I give it a 3 fish rating out of 4 for catching them today.

Around Town:  Very quiet around town with folks taking life easy.  Great way to enjoy life to say the least.  Also would like to say that this is a perfect time to till up the veggie garden, around the items that are still growing.  I place my items in certain areas just for this reason, so come fall I don’t have to disturb them when I get to tilling up things.  I like to till the garden now, especially since it is going to be sunny and warm.  As once done it has a chance to dry out a touch.  After a few weeks of exposing the soil to the sun, letting it soak up all its energy I then get to planting my garlic for next spring.  Some plant in the early spring pertaining to garlic, but I like to plant mine in the fall just before the ground freezes.  Come early next summer one then will be able to enjoy what has been growing beneath the soil all winter long, soaking up all the energy and minerals needed to keep the body healthy and strong.   So my friends take advantage of the warm weather and sunshine, it is a gift this time of year and a gift is meant to be enjoyed.

Port Loring Ontario, Information, News & Weather

Good Morning:  Well a bit cool this morning.  Waking up temperatures were sitting at…  4.9 C | 40.82 F.

Forecast For Today:   Showery early, improving as the day moves forward.  After today things will warm up to near 20 C / 70 F with lots of sunshine.  We should see a bit of sunshine today also once the clouds moves out.

Bug Report:  None. This report will be removed after today till next spring.

Fishing Times:    This morning the old weather stick is saying that the best times to be out there will be from 8:00 AM – 11:00 AM.  Then again from 4:00 PM – 6:00 PM.  I give it a 2 fish rating out of 4 for catching them this morning and a 3 fish rating out of 4 this afternoon.

Around Town:  Monday morning and folks are out and about some.  Few trucks moving up and down Highway 522 heading off to their place of work.  Today I will finish up cleaning out the vegetable gardens and bring in what is left for our table.  Once done that I will let it dry up a touch and get to tilling it up for winter. Like it to air well so I can get to planting my garlic, which will come up next spring.  One bulb of garlic can give you up to six bulbs or more next spring.  Just break the bulb apart and put one clove in each hole which should be about two inches deep, top facing up.  Cover it up and that’s it.  Can’t get much simpler than that and it is so….good for you. Remember though for good results plant our own Ontario Organic Garlic, not the ones from other countries.   So my friends, enjoy your day and get outside all you can this week, as sunshine will be in abundance.

Port Loring, Events, Happenings, Weather & Fishing Times

Good Morning:   Cool morning out there starting off.  Temperatures waking up were sitting at…-0.6 C | 30.92 F.

Forecast For Today: Possible showers early then partly sunny, breezy and warmer, then pleasant this afternoon.

Bug Report:  Most all now are gone for the year.

Fishing Times:  Well in spite of the cold the old weather stick is saying that the best time to be out there fishing…if you so desire will be from 10:00 AM – 4:00 PM.  I give it a 2 fish rating out of 4 for catching them today.  Might pay to bring a coat along with ya this morning.  This afternoon though should be quite nice.

Around Town:   Well the norm in our area it seems for this time of year is quiet.  Not hardly a car moving up and down highway 522.  Or a truck for that matter, so thinking most road work is about finished in our area with a few exceptions.   Yesterday I had an inside urge to get my vegetable garden cleaned out and was glad I did.  With this frost this morning it would have been one mess.  So pays to pay attention to ones inner feelings.  Myself though I have entertained those feelings most my life which in turn has saved me a lot of grief.  My old Dad had a saying that if one went with his own thoughts and feelings ones life would be quite successful. The only time problems arise is if you go with others thinking.  I found that to be true.  So my friends you have a great day and after lunch when things warm up some, try and get out and soak up some sunshine, which the old body loves.

Port Loring Ontario, News, Happenings & Fishing Times

Good Morning:   Well sunny morning here. A touch cool but not so bad.  Temperatures waking up were sitting at…10.5 C | 50.9 F.

Forecast For Port Loring:  Fairly fine, possible showers early. Tomorrow and Friday should be nice and sunny.  So some nice looking weather ahead for a couple days.

Bug Report:  None to report, things are all good in that department.

Fishing Times;   This morning the old weather stick is saying that the best times to be out there will be from 9:00 AM – 11:00 AM.  Then once again a bit later from..2:30 PM – 4:00 PM.

Around Town:  Not to much to report here this morning.  Lots of construction happening with roads being done up before the snow is upon us.  Stores have slowed down some with sales which is to be expected. Our small gallery is still doing well with orders coming in daily and the wife’s paintings making an impression on folks along with sales.  On another note the vegetable gardens will be in need of cleaning up soon once the first big frost hits our area.  So far we have been lucky for most parts.  Cooler weather though does slow down most items.  Spinach, Kale and Celery like the cool weather though, so they will hold on for a few more weeks an even longer if you cover them at nights to protect them from the frost.  Tomatoes also will hold their own if covered.  Mine are pretty well done for the season, but I will say they outdid themselves this year for quality and quantity.   With the weather being so cold and wet all summer we had an ample supply of everything in our gardens.  So no complaints.  Today I will be picking the rest of our corn and then digging out the stalks which the wife use for decoration around our grounds.  Sure looks nice when all said an done. Nothing goes to wast. So my friends, enjoy your day, try your best to soak up some of that sunshine for the next couple days, as it will maintain your health into the coming winter and then some.

Port Loring Events, Happenings, Weather & Fishing Times

Good morning:  Well kind of a gloomy looking day out there this morning.  Temperature was a bit cool waking up, saying…7.1 C | 44.78 F.  Will warm up a wee bit later on, remaining cool today though.

Forecast For Port Loring:    Rather unsettled clearing later.  Barometer is Rising Very Rapidly which is a good sign.  So will have to see what the day brings our way.

Bug Report:   Nothing to report here in this department.  Seems they are headed off to warmer climates.  Which is OK by me.

Fishing Times:  Today the old weather stick is saying that the best time to be out there will be from…11:00 AM – 3:30 PM.  I give it a 1 fish rating out of 4 for catching them.  I would think a rain coat would be an item one wouldn’t want to forget if out there today.

Around Town:  Lots of trucks moving up and own our highway with road work being done everywhere these days.  But has to be done.  While the weather was nice I took a few pictures of some flowers and bushes we have on our property.  Seemed they were just asking for their picture to be taken.  So thought I would share them with you.  Hope it brightens up your day.   Have a great day.  Click Pictures to Enlarge.

Port Loring Ontario Canada, Weather, Information & Fishing Times

Good Morning:  Well once again it is cloudy and damp.  But things will improve as most things do in life when given time.  Waking up this morning temperatures were sitting at..10.7 C | 51.26 F.

Forecast For Today:     Showery early,  then improving.  If things goes to plan we should see some sunshine later on today and in to tomorrow.  Also things will warm up some.  Almost a whole week of no sunshine.  Doesn’t make for a happy camper, one could say.

Bug Report:    None to speak of out there in this weather.  Will start to see a few mosquitoes once the sun moves upon us later but none in great amounts.

Fishing Times:  This morning taking all things into consideration, including the old weather stick, it is saying that the best times to be out there will be from 7:00 AM – 10:30 AM.  Then a bit later from 3:30 PM – 6:30 PM.  I give it a 1 fish rating out of 4 for catching them this morning and a 2 fish rating out of 4 this afternoon.  Good luck.

Around Town:  Folks have refrained from moving around for a bit, weather being such as it is. But once the sun comes out things will get back to its norm.   Veggie garden is sure in need of sunshine.  Tomatoes though are ripening fast on the vine.  This year being so wet I left them on to ripen to their fullest potential before picking and preserving.  In-spite of the rain and cloudy sky’s we will still have a great crop, which was brought on from our sunny sky’s earlier in the month.  My lovely wife tries to do up between sixty and a hundred jars a year.  Seems to be the magic number, which lasts a family of 4 for one season.  Quart jars that is.  Other items are doing quite well too.  Pumpkins are in abundance as our squash.  English cucumbers are being eaten daily and relish is in the jars waiting till winter arrives to sample.  Not that I didn’t have a taste or two already.  Corn is climbing to ten feet or better with cobs hanging, just a waiting for the sunshine to fill them with flavour.  So all and all my friends, things are turning out great.  Seems Mother Nature has a way of looking after herself and us humans no matter what the weather brings upon us.  Enjoy your day my friends.

Port Loring Ontario, News, Weather, Fishing Times & Tips

Good morning:   Well a touch cool this morning.  Temperatures were sitting at 11.6 C | 52.88 F waking up.  Will warm up some as the day moves forward.

Forecast For Port Loring Ontario Canada:  Unsettled, slight chance of some rain but sunshine is in the forecast for today.  Quite pleasant I would say.

Bug Report:  Here again it is quite nice with the only ones showing themselves in the early evening hours.  Great time of year for what ever your planning to do.

Fishing Times & Tips:   This morning the old weather stick is saying that the best times to be out there will be from…8:00 AM – 10:30 AM.  Then once again from 3:30 PM – 7:30 PM.  Lots of time to catch that big one.  Today for bait I would recommend minnows.  I don’t think there is anything out there today that will top them.

Around Town:   Quite busy for most. Our Cornfest is edging in on us.  Going to be a great event for sure and one defiantly wouldn’t want to miss it. Click Flyer Below which will explain everything in detail.

On another note the veggie gardens are coming along quite well.  We have been eating our tomatoes now for the past three days and will probably start canning in a week or so.  Pumpkin’s this year has run ramped so will defiantly have a good crop there.  Also the squash is looking good too.  Sure enjoy them with a touch of butter.  Corn also has reached it’s height for the season and silk tassels are showing up daily for pollination.  So should be eating it later on. That’s about it for today, tea time here and will see what the day brings upon us.  Enjoy your day my friends, get outside, soak up some sunshine.  In doing so no flu shot will be needed this fall.  ltss-0362

Port Loring Information, Weather, Fishing Times & Tips

Good Morning:   Well cloudy looking day out there once again.   Some sunshine though will break through now and then but temperatures will remain somewhat cool.  Waking up this morning temperatures were sitting at..11.3 C | 52.34 F.  The long weekend though is looking good so far.

Forecast For Today:   Rather unsettled clearing later.  Taken from our very own weather station located right here in Port Loring… Click Link for all information relating to our weather…http://www.loringlsb.ca/weather-station/

Bug Report:   Hardly any flying around.  With this cool wet weather they stay hidden.  Which is OK by me.

Fishing Times & Tips:      This morning the old weather stick is saying that the best time to be out there will be from…6:00 AM – 9:30 AM.  Then once again from 4:30 PM – 6:30 PM.  I give it a 1 fish rating out of 4 this morning and a 2 fish rating out of 4 for catching them this afternoon.  Not the greatest weather to say the least but things will improve I promise.  The lure of the day through my estimation would be the..Panther Martin Regular Spinner.  It weighs in at..3/8 oz. The  rotation it makes creates vibrations which sends out hydro-sonic waves that “call to the fish”, even when they can’t see them. Gold in colour would be my choice. Price for these lures are very reasonable too as you can pick them up for around $5.00 or so.  Great lure for sure, one of the greats and everyone should have one in their tackle box.  Add a piece of worm or a leach to the end and I am sure that you will be eating fish for supper.  Click Picture to Enlarge for Better Viewing.   Good Luck!  112519

Around Town:   With it being so cool and wet folks are kind of staying in.  Also this time of year there is a transition taking place.  The folks that took their holidays from work in July are all heading back home, back to their normal routine.  The second batch now is gearing up for August…which in my opinion is the greatest month of the year for enjoying the north.  So we will just have to set back and see what develops.  Today I will get too thinning the pumpkins and squash, as they are over grown in leaves this year.  Some leaves are needed to shade the main plants, but to many leaves as we have this year, doesn’t allow the sun to penetrate to the produce, reducing the potential the pumpkins themselves have to offer.  So that should keep me busy for awhile.  One just never knows what a  day might present to a fellow or gal and I am sure more is intended.

Port Loring Information, Weather, FIshing Times & Tips

Good Morning:   Well not a bad day by the looks of things waking up.  Sun was shinning and hardly a cloud in the sky.  A touch cool but nice with temperatures sitting at…12.2 C | 53.96 F.

Forecast For Today:  Fairly fine, possible showers early.  Things will warm up some as the day progresses and humidity will be not so bad. Wind has died down to almost nil thus far this morning. So all and all a great day.

Bug Report:   Great day to do almost anything outside, other than a few mosquitoes and deerflies bugging you once in awhile.  But not so bad that one can’t enjoy mother nature to the fullest.  Great time to go camping, hiking, fishing or what ever you choose to do.  Enjoy the summer my friends it is moving on quite quickly.

Fishing Times:  For those wanting to do some fishing today the old weather stick is saying that the best times to be out there will be from 7:30 AM – 11:00 AM.  Then again from 1:00 PM – 3:00 PM and one more time from 5:30 PM – 7:30 PM.  I give it a 2 fish rating out of 4 for catching them this morning.  A 3 fish rating out of 4 for catching them this afternoon and a 4 fish rating for catching them shortly after supper. As you can see things are improving as the day progresses.  Today I recommend a Hula Popper 3/16 ounce in weight with small size hooks. 25-HulaPopper-288x133 Once all hooked up, cast to within a foot or two of the shore line or a touch closer to lilly pads, stumps or other obstructions, as usually that is where the big ones are lurking.  Soon as the Popper hits the water about two seconds later give it a quick tug, You will hear it pop. Then slowly bring it in. If no luck try again.  If still no luck after ten or fifteen minutes, move on to another spot. No use wasting time in a spot where they aren’t. Oh and no added weight to your line, just the Hula Popper on its own is sufficient.   Click Picture To Enlarge.  The picture is a just a suggestion in colour, myself I would go for one a bit on the greener side.  Good luck.

Around Town:   Yesterday with the market taking place I found our store quite busy with sales.  Was a great day for sure with folks out an about doing what they enjoy.  Of course, weather could have been a touch warmer, but by the end of the day things did just that.  Still not as busy as it has been in the past years, but not so bad that one can complain.  As if that would do any good.  So my friends I am off to thin out my tomatoes, as with all the rainy weather they have taken to growing tops.  If not thinned, the tomato crop will be immensely reduced.  We love tomatoes, so can’t let that happen.  Only takes a half a day and well worth the work one has to put into it.  Enjoy your day my friends.

Port Loring Ontario, News, Weather & Fishing Info

Good morning.  Well a bit cloudy here this morning.  Had a few showers through the night no accumulations to speak of. Temperatures waking up were sitting at…17.7 C | 63.86 F.

Forecast For Today:    Fairly fine, possible showers early to start things off.  Should see some sunshine a bit later as things progress’s.  Hope so as we sure need it.

Bug Report:  Well…the more things change, the more they remain the same.  Mosquitoes are still with us and this damp weather won’t help any to reduce their population.  Few deerflies hanging around irritating folks but all and all not so bad.

Fishing Times:  This morning the old weather stick is saying that the best times to be out there with hook in water will be from…9:30 AM –  11:30 AM.  Then once again a bit later from 2:30 PM -6:00 PM.  I give it a 2 fish rating for catching them out of 4.  Data right at this time is changing as I type and it is quite possible that later on the chances of catching them could raise to 3 out of 4.  Lure of the day I would recommend a nice bright one like in the picture.  Doesn’t have to be the exact kind but should be one made for shallow diving.  Click Picture to enlarge and good luck.Green Bomber Long A

Around Town:   Quiet here in Port Loring this morning.    My gardens though are really putting on a show this year and I would have to say it is the best of the best this year, for growing things. My lovely wife has been steadily drying herbs for Fall and got jars loaded to the hilt.  So will be eating healthy in that department let me tell you.  The house sure smells nice with her drying them.  Also one has to take into account the money one saves by growing their own, not to forget the quality.  I priced a few of the herbs like oregano, sage, basil and some others in the grocery store and I was shocked to see that they were charging, anywhere from  $3:00 – $5.00 for a small bunch.  Prices of things have sure risen over the years to say the least.  Main reason being that Canada..for most parts has become less self efficient.  Once, one of the largest producing countries of their very own vegetables, now rely on other countries.  We fell victim to the money seekers, where as subdivisions and factories built on our prime land, was more important than looking after ones health and needs.  To bad,  as it never can be brought back to what once was.

Port Loring Ontario Canada

Good morning.  Well waking up temperatures were a bit cool sitting at: 11.1 C | 51.98 F.  But some sun is showing itself so things will warm up in a bit.

Forecast For Today:  Fairly fine, possible showers early.

Bug Report:  Pretty good out there these past few days all things taken into consideration.  Could say we are at our normal cycle for the time of year.

Fishing Times:    Today the old weather stick is saying that the best times to be out there will be from;  10:30 AM – 12:30 PM.  Then a bit later from 2:00 PM – 5:00 PM.  I give it  1 fish rating out of 4 for catching them.  Not the best but things will improve in the next few days.

Around Town:  Well with the rain ending and sun making her appearance folks will also get out more doing what comes naturally.  Seems that when the sky’s are gloomy so are us humans.  Why is that? Well simple really, we humans come from energy which is all around us, energy comes from the sun.  No sun, well….we aren’t at our best.  The rain though along with good soil sure got my gardens to growing this year. I took a few pictures to show you.  Notice how shiny the leaves are showing off their health.  I have to say it is about the best year we ever had for growing things.  Click Pictures to Enlarge and have a great day.

Our Bees

This is an article I wrote awhile back and in the news today, they are finding out that maybe my diagnosis might be right.  Will they do anything about it?  Hard to say.  Some pretty high up companies have a lot to loose if they do. Truth is…we shouldn’t be dictated to by huge corporations.

When you are sick,  you can’t think quickly and clearly? If a bee gets sick and can’t think probably, it will not be able to return to its beehive. Now think on this, insecticide Bt is incorporated into many genetically modified crops and Bt does and can cause major sickness to a wide range of creatures in nature. Bees only carry enough honey with them to fly directly to the target flowers and straight back to the beehive. The trip to and from those flowers is extremely complex and so requires the bee to have a very good memory. Since learning and memory are impaired in bees that have an immune response, bees with an immune response get lost, run out of honey fuel, fall to the ground and are then are carried away by ants. Thus, if a bee gets lost, for even a few minutes, it is dead.  Even if it does not kill the bees it makes them disorientated unable to find their way back home to their hive, in turn they die or get sick, which is what is happening now around the world. No more bees, no more pollination, no more plants, no more animals, no more man.”  One also has to remember that other things come into play also like Cell phones, electrical wires  also disorientate the bees the biggest culprit is the GM crops which eventually in my eyes and if these big corporations, and pharmaceutical companies are allowed to continue with what they are doing, that all living creatures on earth will perish.  Sounds harsh…well as I see it, if we all don’t stand up to this, and do our part in saying we don’t want GM Food and put a stop to it, we will perish.  My Opinion Only

Forecast For Today;   Changeable, mending as the day opens up to what will be.

Bug Report;  Other than mosquitoes bugging a person not much happening.  Some say..”hey we live in the north, live with it, we hate folks talking about the bugs as nature has a need for them.”  I say… “true, but just the same there is a lot of things that are happening around us but I don’t have to like them.  As far as I am concerned it wouldn’t bother me none if them blood sucking parasites called Mosquitoes moved on to their just rewards.  And quickly.  My opinion only, of course.   Ha ha.

Fishing Times;   This Morning the old weather stick is saying that the best times to be out there will be from; 8:00 AM – 11:00 AM.  Then once later on from 2:30 PM – 4:30 PM.  I give it a 2 fish rating for catching them.  Good luck.

Around Town;   Not to much to report here this morning.  Things are quiet.  Lots of flowers though showing off these days.  I took a couple of our peonies.  You know truth be known these perennials may live longer than you do—some have been known to thrive for 100 years.  Amazing what Mother Nature has here on this earth to enrich us with beauty.  Click Pictures to Enlarge.

Happenings In & Around Port Loring

Good morning. Well finally some sun is upon us here in Port Loring.  Just a touch cool though, but should warm up in  a bit.  Tomorrow though we could be back to some more rain and into Tuesday.  Forecast taken from our own weather station here in Port Loring is saying that today it will be:  Changeable, mending as the day moves forward.  Temperatures waking up were sitting at: 11.7 C | 53.06 F, well below normal for this time of year.  Makes one think on just how long of a summer we will be having this year, as we are already nearing July with cool weather still upon us. Lets hope for a warm fall.

Fishing Times For Port Loring:   Well this morning the old weather stick is saying that the best times to be out there will be 8:00 AM – 10:30 AM.  Then once again from 4:00 PM – 7:00 PM.  I give it a 2 fish rating for catching them.  Good luck!

Bug Report:   Blackflies are all but gone with mosquitoes making up for them.  Thinking they doubled in quantities since the blackflies left.  Hard to do anything in and around the bush and we have a lot of it in our area.  Only thing we can hope for is sunny warm weather with a breeze to keep them at bay.

Around Town:  This morning it is quiet with folks taking life easy.  Myself once it warms up a touch will do some shop work and work up the garden a touch, as with all the rain an cooler temperatures, the weeds are starting to grow a bit more than what is needed.  But I enjoy doing it along as it feeds nitrogen back into the soil.  Tomatoes as of yesterday have some blossoms showing up on a few plants, so thinking we will have some early tomatoes this year.  Business’s around town are doing OK or so they are saying.  Resorts are slowly filling up which is a good thing.  So my friends, enjoy the sunshine that will be with us today.  Soak up some rays, breath in some of our fresh northern air and have a great day.  Oh….and Happy Fathers Day to all those Fathers out there.  Don’t forget to go see yours or call them at the very least.  Makes their day knowing the family is thinking of them.  GW
