Good Morning! It’s a cloudy morning here in Port Loring, Ontario, And a touch cool with the temperature sitting at -7.8 C | 17.96 F. But not to worry, it will warm up as the day progresses, and if we are real lucky we will have a bit of sunshine off and on for most of the day. The long range for temperatures is looking good. Every day for the next couple of weeks, will be well above the freezing point, with a few days edging up to near 60F/15C. Which in turn will get rid of what snow we do have now. I am looking forward to it. Highway 522 is bare and dry this morning. Yesterday I worked away here on my computer, finishing up a new podcast, and a story for my columns in Newspapers. Today I will do the same. I might try out a new battery charger I bought, that arrived yesterday, just to make sure it is working properly, and everything I want. If not back she goes. LOL With that I am off for my morning bowl of cereal, and will then see what the day has to offer, other than what I am planning. You just never know. Take care and stay safe. Good Morning! Another cold morning here in Port Loring Ontario. The temperature getting out of bed was sitting at -13.4 C | 7.88 F. It is sunny though which is nice. Today will remain cool all day, but tomorrow things will change for the better. With temperatures reaching up into the 40s F. Or 5 C for those that use the metric system. Not me … I still like the old way of doing things. The metric to me was brought about, by those that wanted to fool the public into believing things that aren’t true. You believe what ever you want. Highway 522 is bare and dry this morning and will stay that way all day. Which will make travelling good for those that are in need of a few things. Yesterday I worked here on my computer and today will do much the same. On another note, we are still burning wood in the house here with it being so cold. Tomorrow we will switch back over to oil for a bit once it warms up. I only burn wood when it gets down to about the freezing mark. With that I am off for my morning bowl of oatmeal which keeps the blood pressure in check LOL, and will then see what the day has in store. Take care and stay safe. Good Morning! It’s a cloudy cold morning here in Port Loring, Ontario, Canada. The temperature getting out of bed was sitting at -4.3 C | 24.26 F. We should see a wee bit of sunshine off and on throughout the day. It will remain cold till Tuesday and then things will start to warm back up above the freezing mark. Which will get rid of some more snow. We lost over half of it, but there is still lots to go. In the bushes though, it is all but gone. With the trees moving their sap up to the branches it causes a warming trend, which in turn starts the snow to melt. Mother nature is amazing. It is also very windy this morning with a north wind which makes it feel a lot colder than it really is. Highway 522 is bare and dry this morning, so travelling will be good. But it is best to stay home unless you have to go out with this virus among us. And lately I see a lot of folks from out of town roaming around. Not a good thing. Good Morning!. It’s another sunny day here in Port Loring, Ontario, Canada. The sun sure makes it feel nice when outside. The air is cool though, and we did have a wee bit of ice on the creek that runs behind my house. The temperature was sitting at -13.6 C | 7.52 F which will rise as the day progresses. We should see the sun off and on throughout most of the day. I hope so, as I have some outside work to get done. Will tell you about that when all said and done. The outside work is kind of a treat for my wife and I. Actually waited 17 years for it. LOL Anyways will let you in on it later. Good Morning! It’s kind of a cloudy day here in Port Loring, Ontario, Canada. It is windy too, but the temperature is really nice, sitting at 11.9 C | 53.42 F, Yesterday we lost a lot of our snow, and we will continue on that trend for most of the day. And if we are real lucky, we should see a wee bit of sunshine. Which will get rid of more of our snow. Then things will cool down some for the next 4 days. After that … things will warm back up to near norms for this time of year. Highway 522 is bare and wet this morning which will make travelling good. My lovely wife and I went to town yesterday, to pick up our groceries that we order online. Doing it that way we don’t have to enter any stores, and take a chance on catching the virus. Truth be told … we will continue on doing this after this virus is over with, as it sure makes things a lot easier … and the best part is we save a lot of money. Well … we still spend a lot as right now groceries are an outrageous price. They have never been so high. But I guess it is the price, of living these days. While there we visited our son in his apartment parking lot, from a distance, ate our lunch in our car watching the people putting their lives at risk, going in and out of stores. We then had our coffee and came on home chatting to our sons on the phone along the way. What could be better than that? Not much in my books. With that … I am off for my morning bowl of cereal with my lovely wife, and will then see what the day has in store. I don’t think we will see much sun today, but you never know, it might sneak through these clouds off and on. Highway 522 is bare and dry this morning. We had no snow overnight. The good news is we did lose a lot of our snow yesterday, and that trend will continue for the next two weeks. So I am thinking within a week most of our snow will have left us for another year. Which is okay by me. On another note I didn’t do too much yesterday, just took things easy and stayed inside. I will probably do much of the same today. With that, take care and stay safe. Just because the vaccines are coming our way, is no reason to let down our defences.

Good Morning! For a change we are having some sunshine here in Port Loring, Ontario this morning. The temperature at the time of this post was a touch cool sitting at -2.9 C | 26.78 F. But it is about to warm up substantially in an hour or so. Which will sure be nice. I have to admit my wife and I are looking forward to it. Highway 522 is bare and almost dry this morning with no snow overnight. The snow we do have has been melting in spite of the cold nights, as you can see the snow dropping every day. It melts from underneath and around the trees at first, then when it warms up it really gets going. Today and tomorrow should get rid of a pile, and if we get some warm rain, that will help even more. Yesterday I took it easy and will do the same again today. I guess my old body needs a rest, or so it feels. I think I will work on another podcast that I have in the works. I will see how things are going in a bit. Good Morning! It’s a cool cloudy morning here in Port Loring, Ontario. It will warm up a bit as the day moves forward. The temperature getting out of bed was sitting at -6.5 C | 20.3 F. Tomorrow will be a lot warmer, and we should be seeing some sunshine with temperatures well above freezing. The sap should be running. Sap flows when daytime temperatures rise above freezing (32 degrees Fahrenheit / 0 Celsius) and nighttime temperatures fall below freezing. Which is what is going to happen for the next few days or so. Highway 522 is bare and damp this morning. There are a few icy sections here and there … which I found out walking over to the hardware store here in town this morning. So if nothing else … care should be taken if walking. LOL On another note I didn’t do too much yesterday, other than get my seeds ready for planting inside. I like to start a few tomatoes, peppers, cucumbers, along with some others. I probably won’t plant the seeds till near the end of the week as that way I have a month to get them going, and a couple more weeks to climatize them before planting. So ya … probably near the end of next week would be perfect timing. Last year I had great success and didn’t have to buy any plants at all. Gives you a good feeling starting your own. Good Morning! Once again it is a very cold morning here in Port Loring, Ontario, Canada. However, the sun is shinning which makes it at the very least … look nice outside. The temperature getting out of bed was sitting at -15.1 C | 4.82 F. Slightly warmer than yesterday, but we still have a bit of ice on the bottom of our windows this morning. On seeing that we know we have enough humidity in our home, along with it being cold enough to stay inside. Over the years I have come to the conclusion that a good rule of thumb would be … to stay inside throughout the cold winter days, until … the temperature rises close to my age. Now you noticed I said close. The reason for that is … I don’t like it to hot neither, LOL. Highway 522 is bare and dry this morning which will make travelling good if you have it in your mind to go anywhere. If you do I hope you stay out of stores or restaurants as this new variant can spread rapidly, very rapidly if you are close to someone that has it. Other than that not much else happening in and around our small community these days. And with that bit of info under your hat I am off for my morning bowl of oatmeal and feed my birds. Hmm, on the subject of birds … I don’t know about you folks, but my lovely wife and I haven’t seen hardly no Blue Jays at all this winter. Usually we have them all winter long. Good Morning! It’s another cold morning here in Port Loring, Ontario. The temperature climbing out of bed was sitting at -10.4 C | 13.28 F. Today and tomorrow it will remain very cold. But after that things start to change, with warmer temperatures entering into the picture. Which is fine with me as I can’t wait. I have had enough of the cold. In saying that though, it has been nice and cozy in our home and shop all winter. No complaints in that department. Highway 522 is bare and dry this morning which will make travelling good for those that have to go anywhere. I see they are lifting the lockdown on Monday. I have to say if it was up to me, I wouldn’t. At least for another couple weeks till things settle down a bit more in the cities and the vaccine is in the area being administered to everyone. I think they are just asking for trouble, especially with this new variant among us. But … my way of looking at things, they will do what they think is in their best interest, not what is good for the people themselves. Such is that. Good Morning! It’s a sunny but very cold morning here in Port Loring, Ontario. The sun though does make it feel a lot nicer than it is. Crawling out of my warm bed the temperature was sitting at -18.8 C | -1.84 F. The good news is, the deep freeze will be over in 3 days. Starting Monday the temperatures will be well above freezing and stay that way for over 10 days. Which I suspect will get rid of a lot or most of our snow. We could see temperatures as high as 10C/50F, next Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. Highway 522 is bare and dry this morning with no snow overnight. On another note yesterday I didn’t do too much in the shop, or here on my computer. I just kind of took things easy, which I suspect I will do the same today. I might work on a Podcast I have in mind. Oh! That reminds me I had better upload another show as it is Friday. As my boys would say … TGF. Thank goodness it’s Friday. Good Morning! It’s a very cold morning here in Port Loring, Ontario. Cold enough to make a polar bear shiver. Including me when heading out to feed my shop stove and feed the birds. No birds though, and I am thinking they have more sense than I do. Staying where it’s warm. The temperature getting out of bed was sitting at -22.5 C | -8.5 F. Highway 522 is bare with a few icy sections here and there and the side roads are a real mess caused by the melting we had a couple of days ago, along with the rain. Put that together with a quick freeze, and there you have it. Yesterday I worked in the shop fixing up my large rototiller as it was having problems last fall. So after a bit of work and figuring on things it seems to be running fine now. I am going to be needing it come spring as I have a lot of projects that we want to do. Today I will clean up my mess once it warms up in there in a bit. Other than that not much happening in and around our small community these days. With the lock-down and not so good weather, everyone is staying put. Which is a good thing. An example would be North Bay with them staying closed down the rate of infection has dropped to only one case yesterday. Proof is in the puddin’ so to speak. Oh, there are some that like to complain about the closing down but in reality they are just a hand full, which doesn’t amount to anything. But fair is fair, I guess, as it is a free country in sort. On another note with it being so cold I lit the house wood furnace this morning along with the shop stove. Saves some oil that we will be in need of once it warms back up again. But looking ahead one week from today things really start to change for the better, At least temperature wise. So … we will just have to wait it out. Good Morning! It’s another snowy day here in Port Loring, Ontario. We didn’t have any through the night, which is a good thing. It started around 7:00 AM this morning. I suspect we will be getting another three to four inches when all said and done. I have to say … we sure have had our share of snow this year. But on the good side of things, it is going to start to warm up, as temperatures will rise well above freezing as the day progresses, and well above freezing tomorrow also. And … if we are real lucky, we should see some sunshine tomorrow too. If temperatures rise as I think they will, my lovely wife and I might get some front porch sittin’ in tomorrow. That would be nice, and it is much in need of, with this virus amongst us. Highway 522 is snow covered with icy sections throughout this morning. Care should be taken if out and about, that’s for certain. On another note, my wife and I took a trip to North Bay yesterday to pick up our groceries that we order online. I have to say, there was sure a lot of traffic around town. The Walmart parking lot was full. So that tells me people aren’t doing what they should be doing. Not that I mind them shopping, just not now. Especially when that new variant is starting to get a good foot hold there in town. My wife and I never went into any stores, as we just order from home online, and they bring it to our car. You know … once this is over, we are planning on carrying on the same way. We think it is great. Order online, they put it together for us, and bring it out to the car. What could be better than that? Not much in my books. And the great thing is, we save money doing this way as we don’t purchase a lot of things we don’t really need. It’s called impulse buying. LOL The price of groceries is actually terrible right now. I am thinking that some stores are taking advantage of things. Anyways, we got our groceries, went through a drive through there in town. Picked up our son a sandwich, along with ours, and ate and talked to our son on the phone, all the way home. Kind of nice. I have to say, since this virus hit we have talked to our boys more now than ever before. If anything it has brought us closer together. Do you think there is a message there? Good Morning! Starting things off, the sun is shinning here in Port Loring, Ontario, this morning. I have to admit, it sure looks pretty out there, with the sun, and all the snow we have had for the past two days. The branches on the trees are just hanging with so much snow on them. The temperature this morning is a touch cool sitting at -13.3 C | 8.06 F, It will warm up some as the day moves forward. Also, it should be noted that by the weekend, we will have some more snow, not too much just a couple inches. But the good news is on Sunday it could reach as high as 40 Degrees Fahrenheit. On another note yesterday we stayed inside for most of the day, other than walking to the shop to feed my stove. If nothing else it gave me some exercise along with some fresh northern air. I have to say we sure had our share of snow the past two days. I would say around another 8 to 10 inches. More in certain locations. Like up in front of my woodworking shop. It seems to pile up there more than anywhere else. This morning after breakfast we will get busy and clean things up. I suspect it will take most of the morning, and maybe a bit of the afternoon, with their being so much. Kerry my friend who is cleaning my driveway is running out of places to put the snow. I would say it is the most we have had in the past 16 years. Not complaining mind ya, as we knew moving here years ago what to expect. Of course, we were younger than we are now LOL. Good Morning! It’s a cloudy snowy day here in Port Loring, Ontario this morning. The snow will continue off and on for most of the day. Tomorrow the sun will show itself once again, and if we are lucky it should remain with us until Saturday, when we can expect more snow. So winter is keeping its grip, so to speak, on us here in the North. But the good news is, we are closing in on March … which means, spring isn’t that far off. I am thinking everyone will be looking forward to summer this year. On another note … the temperature is pretty nice these days with it sitting at -3.3 C | 26.06 F this morning. It will rise a wee bit. Highway 522 is snow covered with icy sections throughout this morning and I suspect it will remain that way until tomorrow. Understandable. Yesterday I worked on a Podcast and today will be much the same. With the weather being not so good, I enjoy being in the house working away here on my computer, bugging my lovely wife. She has been busy doing housework, along with working on a painting she has in mind. It’s nice to be able to do what you enjoy. We both don’t get to watching the news much these days, as there is so much garbage on there, that all it does when reading it, is upset a person. So have been getting on with our lives and enjoying each day for what it is. Along with bugging our boys occasionally. LOL That’s what parents do right? With that, have a great day. Through the night there wasn’t any to speak of, but this morning it has started again. So I will wait till it has it out of its system before cleaning things up.
