It takes all kinds in this old world of ours. I don’t think it is too far fetched in today’s world. LOL
Morning Chat March 3/2021
Good Morning! It’s another cloudy morning here in Port Loring, Ontario. But the good news is, it isn’t as cold as it was yesterday. The temperature waking up was sitting at -0.4 C | 31.28 F. We should see some more melting of our snow today. Highway 522 is almost bare this morning, but there are some icy sections here and there. On the sunshine end of things we should see some today for a change, which would be nice. Other than that not much happening these days. Knowing that I am off for a bowl of cereal with my lovely wife and will then see what the day has in store. Take care and stay safe.
Morning Chat March 2/2021
Good Morning! It’s a very cold morning here in Port Loring, Ontario. Cold enough to make a polar bear shiver. Including me when heading out to feed my shop stove and feed the birds. No birds though, and I am thinking they have more sense than I do. Staying where it’s warm. The temperature getting out of bed was sitting at -22.5 C | -8.5 F. Highway 522 is bare with a few icy sections here and there and the side roads are a real mess caused by the melting we had a couple of days ago, along with the rain. Put that together with a quick freeze, and there you have it. Yesterday I worked in the shop fixing up my large rototiller as it was having problems last fall. So after a bit of work and figuring on things it seems to be running fine now. I am going to be needing it come spring as I have a lot of projects that we want to do. Today I will clean up my mess once it warms up in there in a bit. Other than that not much happening in and around our small community these days. With the lock-down and not so good weather, everyone is staying put. Which is a good thing. An example would be North Bay with them staying closed down the rate of infection has dropped to only one case yesterday. Proof is in the puddin’ so to speak. Oh, there are some that like to complain about the closing down but in reality they are just a hand full, which doesn’t amount to anything. But fair is fair, I guess, as it is a free country in sort. With that I am off for my morning bowl of cereal with my lovely wife and will then see what the day has in store. Take care and stay safe. GW
Morning Chat March 1/2021
Good Morning! It’s a cloudy cold morning here in Port Loring Ontario. Quite a change from yesterday that’s for sure. From temperatures way above freezing to below freezing this morning. Highway 522 is partially bare, but there are a lot of icy sections throughout. So care will have to be taken if out and about. But then again … care should be taken at anytime. LOL On another note I didn’t do too much yesterday as didn’t feel up to par. And this morning not much better. So going to take it easy for a spell. There is always something to slow a feller down. On another note with it being so cold I lit the house wood furnace this morning along with the shop stove. Saves some oil that we will be in need of once it warms back up again. Which won’t be until next week. With that I am off for a bowl of cereal and will then see what the day has in store. Take care and stay safe. GW
Morning Chat Feb.28/2021
Good Morning! It’s a cloudy morning here in Port Loring, Ontario. The good news is we didn’t get any more snow through the night. But in saying that, we could see some snow throughout the day. I don’t think there will be too much with the temperature being above freezing. But you never know. Temperatures will drop through the night, and tomorrow and the next day will be quite cold. But looking ahead one week from today things really start to change for the better, At least temperature wise. So … we will just have to wait it out. Getting out of bed the temperature was sitting at -0.2 C | 31.64 F. A touch above freezing. Highway 522 is bare and wet with a few icy sections here and there. On another note I worked in the woodworking shop on a few things yesterday and will do the same today. With that I am off for my morning bowl of oatmeal with my lovely wife, and will then get to work, or?? LOL Take care and stay safe.
Morning Chat Feb 27/2021
Good Morning! It’s another snowy day here in Port Loring, Ontario. We didn’t have any through the night, which is a good thing. It started around 7:00 AM this morning. I suspect we will be getting another three to four inches when all said and done. I have to say … we sure have had our share of snow this year. But on the good side of things, it is going to start to warm up, as temperatures will rise well above freezing as the day progresses, and well above freezing tomorrow also. And … if we are real lucky, we should see some sunshine tomorrow too. If temperatures rise as I think they will, my lovely wife and I might get some front porch sittin’ in tomorrow. That would be nice, and it is much in need of, with this virus amongst us. Highway 522 is snow covered with icy sections throughout this morning. Care should be taken if out and about, that’s for certain. On another note, my wife and I took a trip to North Bay yesterday to pick up our groceries that we order online. I have to say, there was sure a lot of traffic around town. The Walmart parking lot was full. So that tells me people aren’t doing what they should be doing. Not that I mind them shopping, just not now. Especially when that new variant is starting to get a good foot hold there in town. My wife and I never went into any stores, as we just order from home online, and they bring it to our car. You know … once this is over, we are planning on carrying on the same way. We think it is great. Order online, they put it together for us, and bring it out to the car. What could be better than that? Not much in my books. And the great thing is, we save money doing this way as we don’t purchase a lot of things we don’t really need. It’s called impulse buying. LOL The price of groceries is actually terrible right now. I am thinking that some stores are taking advantage of things. Anyways, we got our groceries, went through a drive through there in town. Picked up our son a sandwich, along with ours, and ate and talked to our son on the phone, all the way home. Kind of nice. I have to say, since this virus hit we have talked to our boys more now than ever before. If anything it has brought us closer together. Do you think there is a message there? LOL With that I am off for my morning bowl of cereal with my little woman, and will then see what the day has in store. You just never know. Take care and stay safe. GW

Morning Chat Feb. 25/2021
Good Morning! Starting things off, the sun is shinning here in Port Loring, Ontario, this morning. I have to admit, it sure looks pretty out there, with the sun, and all the snow we have had for the past two days. The branches on the trees are just hanging with so much snow on them. The temperature this morning is a touch cool sitting at -13.3 C | 8.06 F, It will warm up some as the day moves forward. Also, it should be noted that by the weekend, we will have some more snow, not too much just a couple inches. But the good news is on Sunday it could reach as high as 40 Degrees Fahrenheit. We might even get in some front porch sittin’ Highway 522 is snow covered with lots of icy sections throughout. So care will have to be taken if out and about. On another note yesterday we stayed inside for most of the day, other than walking to the shop to feed my stove. If nothing else it gave me some exercise along with some fresh northern air. I have to say we sure had our share of snow the past two days. I would say around another 8 to 10 inches. More in certain locations. Like up in front of my woodworking shop. It seems to pile up there more than anywhere else. This morning after breakfast we will get busy and clean things up. I suspect it will take most of the morning, and maybe a bit of the afternoon, with their being so much. Kerry my friend who is cleaning my driveway is running out of places to put the snow. I would say it is the most we have had in the past 16 years. Not complaining mind ya, as we knew moving here years ago what to expect. Of course, we were younger than we are now LOL. With that I am off for a bowl of oatmeal with my lovely wife and will then get to work. I can hear my snowblower calling me, raring to get to work. Have a great day and stay safe this new variant is closing in on everyone. GW

Good Morning! It’s a cloudy snowy day here in Port Loring, Ontario this morning. The snow will continue off and on for most of the day. Tomorrow the sun will show itself once again, and if we are lucky it should remain with us until Saturday, when we can expect more snow. So winter is keeping its grip, so to speak, on us here in the North. But the good news is, we are closing in on March … which means, spring isn’t that far off. I am thinking everyone will be looking forward to summer this year. On another note … the temperature is pretty nice these days with it sitting at -3.3 C | 26.06 F this morning. It will rise a wee bit. Highway 522 is snow covered with icy sections throughout this morning and I suspect it will remain that way until tomorrow. Understandable. Yesterday I worked on a Podcast and today will be much the same. With the weather being not so good, I enjoy being in the house working away here on my computer, bugging my lovely wife. She has been busy doing housework, along with working on a painting she has in mind. It’s nice to be able to do what you enjoy. We both don’t get to watching the news much these days, as there is so much garbage on there, that all it does when reading it, is upset a person. So have been getting on with our lives and enjoying each day for what it is. Along with bugging our boys occasionally. LOL That’s what parents do right? With that, have a great day. You’re the only one that can do that. And stay safe!!
Morning Chat Feb. 23/2021
Good Morning! It’s another snowy day here in Port Loring, Ontario. The snow started yesterday morning, and continued on throughout the day. We had around six inches or so yesterday. Through the night there wasn’t any to speak of, but this morning it has started again. So I will wait till it has it out of its system before cleaning things up. However, the temperature has been a lot warmer for the past couple days sitting a-1 C | 30.2 F this morning. Highway 522 is snow covered with a lot of icy sections throughout. So care should be taken if out and about. Yesterday I stayed inside most of the day, only going out to put some wood in my shop stove. I probably will do the same today. With that I am off for my morning bowl of cereal with my lovely wife, and will then work away on another podcast. Take care and stay safe. GW
Morning Chat Feb 21/2021
Good Morning! How’s everyone doing this morning? Good I hope. It’s a cloudy day here in Port Loring, Ontario. And I suspect it will remain that way for most of the day. If we are lucky we might see a glimpse of sunshine off and on. We will also be getting some more snow starting later on today, and for most of the day tomorrow. We could see up to six inches or more. It all depends on which way the storm tracks. But … we are in an area that if anyone gets it … we do. LOL Highway 522 is bare and dry this morning, pretty well throughout. We are having some light flurries right now. On another note, yesterday I took it upon myself and washed our car. I couldn’t stand looking at the poor thing, sitting there covered with ice and salt. It is Kodiak Brown, but you wouldn’t have known it. Actually it was quite nice out there washing it, with the sun shinning. So in doing so I got some fresh air, exercise, along with a clean car. What can be better than that? Today I will continue working on a podcast that I have on the go. Which should keep me busy for most of the day. First though, I will light the shop stove, and wheel in a couple loads of pine softwood. I use it for the shop stove, as I have lots. That way it is warm in there. I like to keep it going on the real cold days, and when I know a snow storm is headin’ our way. That way once I finish cleaning up things, my snow blower gets dried off. Keeps it from rusting. With that I am off for a bowl of cereal with my lovely wife, and will then get to work. Finally, for a change the good news is that the sun is getting higher in the sky. Which means … warmer weather will soon push into our area. I could feel the warmth from it yesterday while washing our car. Felt good too! Take care and stay safe. GW
Why us Seniors are cool
More COVID Cases in North Bay Ontario Canada
North Bay Extends the stay at home order in North Bay until March 8/2021. And then they will see after that. I think it is the best thing they could have done. Especially now with the new virus among them, along with it now spreading into Cassellholme North Bay, Walmart, an apartment building complex and a Bank. I suspect there are a lot more cases yet to be found. They should also close the schools down. Truth be told they should have never opened them, as the kids were just getting used to working from home. Kids adapt to what ever takes place. Slowing this virus down is a lot more important than going to school. It’s not forever, its just till the vaccines start rolling in. If they don’t close down and try to keep everyone from shopping there won’t be any places … to shop. Simple as that. Take care, and do what you have too, to stay safe. Even then it’s a challenge.
Morning chat FEB. 20/2021
Good Morning! Well … its another nice morning here in Port Loring, Ontario, Canada. The temperature was sitting at -12.3 C | 9.86 F. We should have a lot of sunshine today and into tomorrow. But after that it looks like another storm is heading our way, and we could see anywhere from 3 to 8 inches of new snow on the ground by Tuesday evening. But as with all weather patterns, one never really knows till it arrives. With the weather fluctuating as it is and has been doing, anything is possible. This morning highway 522 is partially snow and ice covered. It should melt as the day progresses. Yesterday I kind of took it easy working away on another podcast that I have in the works. Today I will do much the same. With that I am off for some pancakes my lovely wife is making and will then see what the day has in store. Take care and stay safe.

Good Morning! It is a cloudy day here in Port Loring, Ontario. But the good news is, it isn’t as cold as it was. The temperature waking up was sitting at -10.3 C | 13.46 F. We could see a light flurry throughout the day today but nothing to speak of. The temperature will rise a bit as the day moves forward. The next snow of any accumulation will come Sunday Night and into Monday. Possibly into Tuesday of next week. So winter isn’t over yet. Highway 522 is all but bare this morning, but there are a few snowy covered areas throughout. But there should be no issues for those that are in need of some groceries. If you do have to go anywhere make sure you wear a mask and take extra precautions as with this new variant it can be spread at an alarming rate. Yesterday I finished up a podcast I was working on and will start another today. Keeps the old mind moving which in turn is a good thing. Once it warms up a touch I am going to wash our car, as man is it dirty from our last trip to town. With that I am off for my morning bowl of cereal with my lovely wife and will then see what the day has in store. You just never know. Take care and stay safe.

Great Memories
Here is a video that a friend of mine sent me. Watching it will give you an idea of what the town looked like years ago … where I was raised. The folks that raised me were Reg and Laura Potter. They owned a dairy farm just a short distance from town. Great folks, and I miss them dearly. The town is Coldwater Ontario, Canada. Sure brought back a lot of memories for me.
Not all singers are equal or are they?
My Sister Barb sent me this one. Kind of makes a feller realize, that it doesn’t really take a trained singer to sing all songs. Thanks Sis! Good One.
Morning Chat Feb 18/2021
Good Morning! It’s another cold morning here in Port Loring Ontario. The temperature getting out of bed was sitting at -22.1 C | -7.78 F. It will warm up a lot as the day moves forward. Highway 522 is partially snow covered, with a few icy sections throughout. By the looks of things, we should start to see the weather changing for the better with warmer temperatures on the Horizon. We should be above the freezing mark come Sunday. Which should get rid of some of this snow. Yesterday my lovely wife and I managed to get things cleaned up from our last snow storm. We waited till after lunch to do it, as it was just too cold in the morning. It only took us about two hours. Later I worked away here in the house on a Podcast, along with feeding my shop stove and our wood furnace here in the house. The good part is, it gets me up and moving, along with getting some fresh northern air thrown in for good measure. Today I will do the same, other than cleaning up the snow. As we didn’t have any overnight. With that, not much else happening in and around our small community. Take care and stay safe.
Morning Chat Feb 17/2021
Good Morning! It’s a very cold morning here in Port Loring, Ontario, Canada. The temperature climbing out of bed was sitting at -28.7 C | -19.66 F, It’s the kind of weather that a feller wants to get back in bed. However, the sun is shinning which at the very least makes it look nice outside. This morning I had to remove some ashes from the furnace as it was getting quite high from burning so much wood the past few days. So before I could add some more, that needed doing. Which meant I had to go out in the cold. LOL Not so bad though, once all bundled up. Now that the ashes are cleaned up, the old wood furnace is doing what it should be doing. Pushing the heat upstairs. It doesn’t matter how cold it is outside, our home is always nice and toasty. Highway 522 is partially snow covered this morning, so care should be taken if out and about. But with everything that is going on in the world, I would think it’s best to stay home, unless it is absolutely necessary that you have to go somewhere. Yesterday being so snowy and cold I stayed inside where it was warm. Today I will do the same, until it warms up some, and then my wife and I will clean up this snow that we had. But until it warms up, inside the house is the place to be. LOL. With that I am off for a bowl of oatmeal and will then let the day do as is so chooses. Take care and stay safe. It’s the only protection we have against this virus. Especially since our Powers that be doesn’t know what they are doing.
