ASPARTAME & Its Ill Effects

For many it seems that what ever our Powers That Be tells them they think it is gospel.  Well don’t be fooled.

‘If you are using ASPARTAME (Nutra Sweet, Equal, Spoonful, etc) and you suffer from these symptoms, spasms, shooting, pains, numbness in your legs, Cramps, Vertigo, Dizziness, Headaches, Tinnitus, Joint pain, Unexplainable depression, anxiety attacks, slurred speech, blurred vision, or memory loss you probably have ASPARTAME poisoning!’  Hard to believe I am sure, but this in my eyes is one of the worst things you could be using. To prove what I have just said one has to just take a spoon full of ASPARTAME, pour it over an ant hill and see what happens.  First off the ants love it as it is sweet like humans.  They then take it back to their nests and in short week the whole nest dies.    Now if that doesn’t tell you something and you keep on eating it, well…………………I gotta’ say there is something wrong with you.

One Of My Columns From The North Bay Nugget

Thought I would share my last weeks Column, which comes out every Saturday in the North Bay Nugget.  Enjoy.

A Bit On Sports

Sports throughout my life wasn’t to high up on the list of priorities as for most parts we just never had time to watch them. As we were usually up before the sun and in bed at dusk. Later on in life in the 60s I did get into watching hockey a bit and have to say I enjoyed it a lot. The reason I enjoyed it so much was because there was only six teams, Toronto Maple Leafs, Montreal Canadians, Chicago Black hawks, Boston Bruins, New York Rangers and the Detroit Red Wings. With six teams it was easy for a feller to remember each and every player. My favourite team back then was the,  Chicago Black hawks but I did have an eye on the Boston Bruins too. If the Black hawks were out of the series, my second choice would be Boston. Not sure why I didn’t get into liking the Canadian teams that much for my home team, maybe it was because most of my hockey watching was looked at in Florida, as my wife and I usually went south for the winter. Seemed I could become part of the team back then, with just so many players, if one got hurt you hurt, if one played bad you felt bad, but no matter what happened in a game you never lost faith in your team.  Hull and Mikita, bar none were my most favourite players and when they were on the ice there was never a dull moment. Might say they kept folks on the edge of their seats. Did for me anyways. In Boston my favourite players were, Phil Esposito, Ken Hodge and Fred Stanfield and I suppose the reason for that was because they were all former Black hawks and back then a fellow was loyal to the players he or she liked.

I watched almost every game back then and looked forward to them. I did manage to get to a couple games in Chicago over the years as my brother-in-law worked in a place that had the means of getting tickets for free. Sure had a good time let me tell ya.  Still can smell them hot dogs that they brought around to the spectators while the game was being played. The games were exciting back then, more so than today in my eyes and a fellow knew exactly at all times what was going on, as things were done with ease. Later on another sport got my attention which was golf. I never played much of it myself, maybe a few games here and there, but my boys liked it and to help them out I got them some lessons. Today they both are good golfers and enjoy what ever time they can on the course. For myself I enjoyed being out there with the boys but to make it a regular thing, well lets just say it wasn’t in me. I do watch one game a year though and never miss it. That game is the Masters in Augusta Georgia.

The Masters is one place that I have put on my wish list before I meet my creator and if the opportunity ever arises, my two sons and wife will be there.

Some players that I got to know and respect over the years was, Byron Nelson, Sam Snead, Jack Nicklaus, Gene Sarazen, and not to forget, Arnold Palmer, Gary Player, Greg Norman and Nick Faldo. Later on and into today they were, Mike Weir, Chris DiMarco , Ben Crenshaw, Fred Couples, Nick Price, and David Duval. But my most favourite of them all, other than Sam Snead and Arnold Palmer would be, Phil Mickelson.

In 2004 Phil Mickelson won his first Masters and here in Canada there was no one more happy than I was. Then again in 2006 he put all his talents together and came up with another win, again we were right there with him throughout the whole four days. He is a great family man, along with that he enjoys what he does which is golf of course and each and every game he gives his all to his fans.

The Masters this year in 2010 was one of the best and I thoroughly enjoyed every minute of it. Just to name a few highlights, Mickelson made back-to-back birdies from the par-three 12th and went on to miss an eagle from only three feet at the par-five 13th.  ended the hole with a birdie. The other spectacular shot was when he made a 20-foot downhill putt at the par-three 12th, amazing. There was many more but after them two eagles both in a row, I knew as he probably did, his third green jacket wasn’t to far off.

Watching him hug his wife and children at the 18th hole was sure a sight to see. The gleam in his wife and daughters eyes and their smiles was enough to melt anyone s heart, yes it was a great game, a game that gave everyone such an emotional ride, one that will go down in the history books.

The Masters.

Finally, for those that have called, E-Mailed and sent letters asking about my third book. Well … ‘Moments In Time’ which is what it is called, is in the printers hands and should be done shortly. Soon as it comes available I will let you all know right here at the Nugget at the bottom of my column.

Mold & What To Do About It

Today most folks or the Powers That Be say Mold isn’t good for you.  I suspect in some cases they are right, but for us living in the country or on the farm it has been part of us for most our lives.  Where ever there is dampness one will find mold.  I am inclined to believe that if you haven’t grown up with it, well then it will bother some of you as your body hasn’t become accustomed to it.  For those though that doesn’t want it around I have found a simple way of getting rid of it on your basement walls or where ever.  What to do is, just take some  good old Borax, you know the box with the old mules on it, mix some up, put it in a spray bottle and get to spraying your walls and things. None Toxic and Problem solved.    Now for those that is getting lazy and gathering mold sitting around the house, well sunshine is the answer to that.  Hmm, maybe I shouldn’t have said like that, but…….wouldn’t be me if I didn’t.

Ticks & Treatments

Here is some advice that a friend of mine says will help with that  Tick problem, as my Sister was saying they had a problem with them out west.  Not sure if this helps but thought I would put it out there.  Good thing is that it is help without using all them pesticides that might be worse for you than the ticks themselves.

MANAGEMENT® AND CONTROL OF TICKS
Inspection (Be very thorough.)
Deer ticks are as tiny as a freckle and hard to spot- dog ticks maybe about as large as a match head. Both
like to burrow in along the hairline – so carefully look and feel along the back of your neck, around your ears
and forehead and those of your pets and children, especially in the hair.
Look in rooms where dogs sleep, under the edge of rugs, under furniture, in cracks around baseboards,
window and door frames, in dog boxes.
Ticks prefer still, damp, shady areas, so turn on the lights and dehumidifier and fans.
Habitat Alteration and Control (They prefer shady areas.)
Advise occupants to:
Forget modesty: Thoroughly and carefully inspect pets, children and one another regularly (at least once a
day) for ticks. Try lightly using Safe Solutions Insect Repellent, neem oil, food-grade diatomaceous earth
in your pet’s fur or menthol on their fur as a repellent.
Wash dog bedding frequently with Safe Solutions Pet Wash or their enzyme cleaner with sodium borate.
Keep grass cut short around buildings and paths and vegetation trimmed. Screen and caulk. Keeping
grass cut under 3” in height lowers the humidity at ground level making it difficult for ticks to survive desic-
cation and their predators.
Keep stray dogs and wildlife out of the yard. Fence your yard. Remove all underbrush and shrubs.
As a last resort have a veterinarian treat pets using pesticidal dips, washes or dusts. Do not let small
children play with dogs that have been recently treated. Try bathing pets with Safe Solutions Pet Wash
or their enzyme cleaner with peppermint or even menthol or with food-grade DE first.
Inside:
Caulk/seal all tiny spaces, crack and crevices where ticks hide. Don’t forget to check behind mop boards,
moldings, frames and baseboards, in furniture and carpets and rugs and inside window pulley openings.
Lightly dust with food-grade DE, boric acid, table salt, baking soda, talcum powder, medicated body pow-
der or powdered sulphur or Comet®. Spray Not Nice to Bugs® or diluted enzyme cleaners as needed.
Vacuum daily under the edge of rugs, under furniture, in cracks around baseboards, window and door
frames, in dog boxes. Try spraying and/or cleaning with 1 oz. diluted Safe Solutions, Inc. enzyme cleaners
per 1 qt.water and/or peppermint soaps or menthol soaps and/or 1 tablespoon of borax or salt and 1
tablespoon of 3% hydrogen peroxide (Caution: This mix will cause discoloration of certain fabrics,
paints, colors, etc.) or routinely steam clean the entire area.
Routinely launder your pet’s bedding with diluted Safe Solutions, Inc. enzyme cleaner and borax and groom
your pets. Then lightly dust with Safe Solutions Food-grade DE.
Fogging for ticks with volatile pesticide poisons is useless and dangerous.
Outside:
Keep grass, weeds, shrubs and brush cut short and severely trimmed or cultivated wherever you walk or
play.
Practice proper sanitation. Remove clutter and debris.
Avoid tick infested areas and/or wear appropriate clothing.
Seal all cracks, crevices and other openings into your home or buildings. Remove leaf litter and debris.
Make tick flags, drags and/or traps; keep grass and brush trimmed and routinely sprayed with diluted
enzyme cleaner using a hose-end sprayer, or lightly dusted with powdered lime or medicated body powder
and/or sulphur. Remember, the shaded areas usually produce the most ticks.
Raise and allow Guinea hens roam free for them to search out and destroy ticks.
Read and utilize this Master IPM Planning Manual.
Follow-up – It is important that everyone know that dogs should be protected or inspected daily even after
treatment since eggs can take 30 days to hatch. Take time to assure occupants that brown dog ticks do not normally bite humans and will, therefore, not transmit a disease. The fear of Lyme disease can create
hysteria and a desire for overkill; explain that the brown dog tick does not spread Lyme disease.

Help For Diabetes

I have spoken quite often to folks at different engagements on Diabetes, in how to treat it and eliminate it from your system.  For most parts Diabetes has been brought on to us humans from the foods we eat.  The quickest cure would be to get off all processed foods, especially the meats. Once you do that, get to soaking some good old white navy beans in a pot with some sea salt over night and then put them into your slow cooker for an afternoon, stirring them every once in awhile. Some fresh herbs thrown in for taste would help too. Beans contain carbohydrates along with as much protein as an ounce of meat, good protein. Beans also contain magnesium and fiber. If you do these two things, I seriously believe your Diabetes will just dissapear, not over night, as one has to remember how long one has been abusing ones body.  I would say in two months, you would be seeing an improvement that would make you sit up and say hey!  Dam that was simple>  Remember folks, you are what you eat, and more so you are what you absorb through your skin. So do the research, then get to looking after yourself.  I should also say that when I say looking after yourself, I mean looking after yourself. Don’t believe everything that these so called Powers That Be is tellin’ you to be the  truth, as in my eyes it isn’t.  You do it, you learn, I know you can.

Rheumatoid Arthritis

Rheumatoid Arthritis is a problem that has been around for years.  For most parts I have found that it is caused by not getting enough Vitamin D.  Where does one get Vitamin D other than from pills. Simple, the sun. Today folks sit in there ever protective homes thinking that the sun is bad for them, as…..well, that is what they have been told, by our so called Powers That Be.   What one has to do is stop listening to everything that is told to them and start learning how to look after them selves.  As I have said many times before, I really believe that there is a cure for any disease using nature.  Thing is, most don’t know where to look. One plant that has helped millions over the years is called Comfrey.  I have over twenty five plants now growing around my home and wouldn’t head on into a summer or winter with out it.  Some say it is dangerous to use internally, some say not. For me though I don’t use it internally, but externally I do and have found it to help with all kinds of problems, from broken bones, sprains, torn ligaments, cuts, bruises, you name it.  If one would just take a few leaves grinding them up and then spreading it on your Arthritis joints, you would soon see an amazing thing begin to happen.  Fist the relief of pain, then with some sunshine added  and a few months most would just disappear  Hard to believe I know, but I know many a folks that swears by it including myself.  Old saying is.  Worked For Me.  Take care and get out there in the sunshine this spring and let that sunshine get to your skin.  A little at a time, and your skin will toughen up, and burns will be a thing of the past.  Your body will love you for it.

Oil In The Gulf Of Mexico

You know for years now I have been saying that this off shore drilling in the Gulf is a disater waiting to happen.   Thing is this isn’t going to be cleaned up in a few months, it is going to take years and then some if it recovers at all.  With all our technology today isn’t it a shame that so much has to be lost because of the all mighty dollar.  Oil continues to spill out of the sunken rig wreck at the rate of 5,000 barrels a day. So far, there’s little hope of stopping it.  On another note one should remember that every toxic chemical, heavy metal and pharmaceutical that’s flushed down the drain ends up getting dumped into the Gulf, kind of like our Great Lakes, so now add this on to the oil, well……… lets just say it isn’t good.  Especially since 50% of the seafood one eats comes from the Gulf Of Mexico.  Even without the oil is it any wonder why so many folks are getting sick these days eating the fish that comes out of the Gulf.   Some call this progress, I call it down right stupidity.  My Opinion Only as usual.  Click On Link below to see how large the oil spill is, as of today and steadily growing larger.

Looking After Our Own Should Come First

You know certain things come along in E-Mails that sometimes need to be put out there.  This is one that came to me the other day. It is right along my way of thinking so thought I would share.

We’re “broke” & can’t help our own Seniors, Homeless, Veterans, Orphans, etc. ?????
This is so pathetically true…in the last month we have provided aid to Haiti, Chile, and Turkey.
Our retired seniors living on a fixed income receive no aid while our  government and religious organisations pour hundreds of millions of   dollars and tons of food to foreign countries.
We have hundreds of adoptable children who are shoved aside to make  room for the adoption of foreign orphans.
Why are so many CANADIAN citizens, and the CANADIAN government,   so star struck they won’t provide for our own?
CANADA: a country where we have homeless without shelter, children going to bed without eating, elderly going without needed meds,   and mentally ill without treatment –

yet we have a benefit for the people of Haiti on 12 TV stations, ships and planes lining up with food, water, tents, clothes, bedding, doctors and medical supplies.
Imagine if we gave ourselves the same support that we gave all other countries.

I feel bad for them but I also care about CANADA.

One has to remember that we have to look after ourselves first.  Why? Some ask.  Well simple, if we don’t,  the time will come we won’t be able to help anyone.  My Opinion Only

STILL THINK THIS IS FUNNY?      Not one of these taxes existed 60 years ago, & our nation was one of the most  prosperous in the world.

We had absolutely no national debt, had a large  middle class, and Mom stayed home to raise the kids.

What in “Hell” happened? Can you spell ‘politicians?’

Disciplining Childrend Today & Yesterday

You know years ago when us young ones did something wrong a trip to the old wood shed would be in order.  Today though, things has changed, and instead of headin’ off to the wood shed to be disciplined, we now put them on Prozac or some other drug. Or who ever was doing the discipline would be hauled up in court.  Thing is, with all these new modern ways of handling problems, kids of today are worse off than before.   Kind of makes you think doesn’t it.   Now don’t get me wrong I am not  into beating a youngster, but a smack on the behind now and then if he or she is doing something wrong, in my eyes isn’t a bad thing.  My Opinion Only. Why Folks Are Getting Sick

Good Morning. Just yesterday I was asked what I thought  one should be eating these days to stay healthy. For one thing I think the question should have been what shouldn’t I be eating.  First off most of us live in an artificial world, wrapped inside our little cocoons of “pretend health” constructed by drug companies and junk food manufacturers who all somehow manage to claim their products are good for you.  Thing is folks you have to get more self reliant and look after your own body.  Sure now and then an infection might come along and you need some help, but for most parts I am a firm believer that you can stay healthy by eating healthy. The first and most important thing would be for you to stop eating all and I mean all processed foods. Now in saying that I can’t rightly say I have given up everything myself, but thanks to my wife I have eliminated around 80%. I sure do love a hot dog now and then though, might say it’s one of my weaknesses.  LOL  Another important item would be as I wrote in my last post and that is to get out into the sun, there again in moderation.  Ease into it this spring and your body will thank you for it by feeling great all year long.  I know…. it’s hard to eat right, with us living in a world that is pretty well all  made up with make believe, but if you want to stay healthy, your going to have too. Don’t be fooled into thinking all that the Powers That Be is tellin’ you is the truth, as it isn’t.  Have a great day and get outside.

Are Season Flu Vaccines Makining Folks Sick ???

Well been awhile since I gave my two cents about anything really, here at the Blog, reason being I have just been busy, along with a few other things.  But for most parts they are being handled.  I had a fellow come to me the other day to actually thank me for all the info I put on here about the Swine Flu.  Made my day.   Goes to show you though, how wrong our system is, as this was suppose to be one of the biggest pandemics of all times, or so the pharmaceutical companies were telling us and would like you to believe.  Thing is folks, think about this.  The vaccine that is out there now is being returned, as they say it has lost its effect.  Let me tell ya, I believe there is more wrong with it than just that.  Take a look at  this article.

This result, which virtually all the top natural health writers openly predicted last year, apparently stunned the researchers. As explained in the published study, “Danuta Skowronski and colleagues report the unexpected results of a series of Canadian epidemiological studies suggesting a counterproductive effect of the vaccine.”

In this case, “counterproductive effect” of the vaccine means that it works against you. Getting the vaccine shot appears to actually make you MORE susceptible to being infected with (and potentially killed by) a future pandemic.

Getting a vaccine shot could actually result in you being killed by the next seasonal flu or pandemic outbreak that comes along.

For the life of me I can’t begin to understand, why so many folks are getting these shots.  There is more proof out there that says its dangerous, but yet most subject their body to it day after day.  Amazing really, as a simple dose of vitamin D would be all you really needed.  This is the time of year folks to start your defence against the flu.  Get out there this spring, toughen up your skin a bit each day by being in the sun. Then when summer hits let it all soak in.  If you do that come Fall you will be in perfect health and the flu will be the last thing on your mind.

New Book Up Date {Moments In Time}

Good afternoon.   Just thought I would let you all know my third book Moments In Time is almost compete.  If things go to plan we should have it in the stores around the middle of May.  I also plan to announce when it is available in with my column in Saturdays paper at the Nugget.  Also in month or so we will be starting our book signing events.  We will be at Gulliver’s in North Bay and also at Cole’s at the Mall in North Bay.  There again I will let you know dates and time soon as I know.  The way things are heading it looks like a very busy year, with our small store ready to go, three books on the market, speaking engagements, attending different events and book signings.  I also would like to meet you folks, so if you see one of my book-signings, or in our area, just drop in, open invitation.

How’s Things Going?

Well been awhile since my last post for sure, just had a few health problems, but hoping they are on the mend.  Today I am feeling a wee bit better and thinking I am healing.  So time will tell, just when one isn’t up to snuff things don’t get done as they should.  Any ways, this time of year back on the farm was one of my most favorite.  With the cheery blossoms out doing themselves, what could be nicer.  Sure makes one feel good to be alive.  I still can visualize me and my old  Dad going for a walk through the orchard,  as we used to do many years ago.  Brings moisture to these old eyes for sure. Well had better go, will get back to doing up some posts another day take care. Click Picture To Enlarge.

Handing Out Tax Payers Dollars Where Ever

Hey George, What do you have to say on this comment?

The Ontario government is coming to the rescue of pensioners of Nortel Networks Corp., one year after the iconic Canadian telecom-equipment maker sought court protection from its creditors.

Hmm I kind of think that this comment in today’s news should have said.  Tax payers dollars are being taken by the Ontario Government and given to Nortel.   Just amazes me the kind of society we live in today.  Meaning that governments think all the money that they manipulate through taxes and things belongs to them, and them alone.  They feel they can just do what ever they so choose with it. Things is though, they are doing just that, and have been getting away with it from the beginning of time.   Myself I think we should take a step back about a hundred years, take in what went wrong, get rid of governments and start over.   Another problem is that these so called Powers That Be, have gotten folks minds so twisted, that a lot of the people of today really believe what is happening is the right way to go.   Not only governments though that is messing things up, there are a lot of others contributing to our downfall too, all connected though.    Amazing.

Some things sure get me going, must come with age, you think?   Had my say guess , will go and have a tea.   My Opinion Only

A Question On Drugs

Hi George, what do you think is the answer to our prescription drug problem and if you might, how did it all start?

For years now I have been pointing out to folks about the abuse of prescription drugs.  I gotta’ tell ya, I believe that today it isn’t about what drugs are being given to folks that are sick, in making them better. It’s all about folks making money.  Today more prescription drugs are being used than ever before.  Let me tell you a story.  Years ago the farmers got to thinking that they needed some help with pests on their crops and things. Well the pharmaceutical companies seen a way here of making some money and went ahead and came up with pesticides.  Seemed there for awhile that a miracle had occurred and the problems were being solved.  Later on sickness started to spring up all over the continent.  What is happening some got to saying??  Well what happened was, an is still happening today, is that all these pesticides and things were and are now slowly making us humans sicker and sicker and sicker.   Now with that in mind the pharmaceutical companies now come along and say hey, we can make some drugs here that will help folks and make them well again.  Nothing wrong with that I suppose, but one should remember that there is an easier way of fixing ones health than handing out drugs.  What is that?  Simple, stop using all these pesticides and clean up our water, air and soil.   Saying that, we have to start somewhere and you the public are the only ones that can make it happen.  We can change things, we have to take back the reigns and not let these so called Powers That Be tell us what is right and wrong any more.  My Opinion Only

Bit Of Saturday Humor Through A Picture

Now I don’t know about you folks, but take a look at this fellows set up for taking a shower, saving electricity and not having to do much physical work turning the light on.   I would have to say it is a pretty good idea other than  the safety factor here.   I also would like to mention, which I am sure you are aware of, right? That not to try it yourself, for numerous reasons.  But hey it takes all kinds to make this old world and this picture does show you that.  At any rate, a little humour for a Saturday morning.. Groundhogs Predict 6 More Weeks Of Winter

Lovers of snow, sleet and freezing temperatures, rejoice: according to Ontario’s best-known groundhog and his U.S. and Atlantic Canada counterparts, winter will stick around for six more weeks.

“My shadow I see beside me,” it was read. “Six more weeks of winter it will be!”

If no shadow was s seen, legend says, spring will come early.

Oh well what can you do. Can’t argue with Mother Nature.  Guess I will go and bring in a bit more firewood.

Onions And What To Remember

All commercially-made Mayo is completely safe.

“It doesn’t even have to be refrigerated. No harm in refrigerating it, but it’s not really necessary.” The pH in mayonnaise is set at a point that bacteria could not survive in that environment.  What about the quint essential picnic, with the bowl of potato salad  sitting on the table and how everyone blames the mayonnaise when someone gets sick.

When food poisoning is reported, the first thing the officials look for is when the ‘victim’ last ate ONIONS and where those onions came from (in the potato salad?). It’s not the mayonnaise (as long as it’s not home made Mayo) that spoils in the outdoors. It’s probably the onions, and if  not the onions, it’s the POTATOES. Onions are a huge magnet for  bacteria, especially uncooked onions.

You should never plan to keep a portion of a sliced onion. It’s not even safe if you put it in a zip-lock bag and put it in your refrigerator. It’s already contaminated enough just by being cut open and out for a bit, that it can be a danger to you (and doubly watch out for those onions you put in your hot-dogs at the baseball park!)

Finally, if you take the leftover onion and cook it like crazy you’ll probably be okay, but if you slice that leftover onion and put it on your sandwich, you’re asking for trouble. Both the onions and the moist
potato in a potato salad, will attract and grow bacteria faster than any commercial mayonnaise will even begin to break down.

So, how’s that for news?
