Port Loring Information, Weather & Fishing Times

Good Morning:  Well another rainy morning.  Through the night we had quite a bit of rain, 20 mm to be exact.  Temperatures waking up were sitting at…18 C | 64.4 F, warmer than it has been for the past week or so.

Forecast For Today:  Showery early, improving and we could see a touch of sunshine a bit later. It will be quite humid though throughout the day and into tonight.

Bug Report:  Not to much to report here in that department.  If your out and about in the bush you will be annoyed somewhat by mosquitoes and some deerflies but for most parts things are good.

Fishing Times:  This morning the old weather stick is saying that the best time to be out there will be from 8:30 AM –  10:30 AM.  Then a bit later from 2:00 PM – 4:30 PM.  I give it a 1 fish rating out of 4 for catching them today.

Around Town:  Yesterday was quite busy store wise.  Had a steady flow of folks dropping by to say hi, chat for a bit and pick up their items of choice. Great to see folks out and about.  Farmers Market was quite busy yesterday with folks enjoying their outing for the day.  Cornfest is really coming on fast and will start off their events next weekend.  For information relating to all that is happening, click flyer below.  Enjoy your day my friends.  ltss-0362

Port Loring Ontario, Weather, Fishing Times & Events

Good Morning:  So looking like a rainy morning here in Port Loring Ontario.  Temperatures were sitting at 14.5 C | 58.1 F waking up.

Forecast For Today:   Unsettled, short fine intervals as the day progresses.  Should see some sunshine here and there.

Bug Report:  Really nice out there actually with no annoying insects to bother a feller or gal.  Or not enough to stop one from enjoying what nature has to offer.

Fishing Times:  Today the old weather stick is saying that the best time to be out there with line in water will be from 10:00 AM – 12:30 PM.  Then a bit later from 4:45 PM – 6:30 PM.  I give it a 2 fish rating this morning out of 4 for catching them and a 3 fish rating this afternoon for catching them.  So should catch a few I would suspect.  Nothing beats fresh fish, caught and cooked up.  Good Luck.

Around Town:   Well our Farmers Market is up and running today.  Great day to pick up a few items of choice.  Nice thing is that no matter what the weather you are protected as it is covered with a roof.  Makes things nice for sure.  Also nice and cool on them warm summery days.  You can click Flyer below for all the details, like times and such.  Enjoy your day my friends.   ltss-0357

Port Loring Weather, Fishing Times & Information

Good morning:   Well nice sunny morning waking up.  Temperatures were sitting at     9.7 C | 49.46 F.  Will warm up in a bit once the sun gets to doing her job. You can view all the detailed weather data here at our very own weather station, located right here in Port Loring, Ontario, Canada.  Click the following link.. http://www.loringlsb.ca/weather-station/

Forecast For Today:   Rain at frequent intervals later on in the day and into tonight.

But Report:   Other than a few mosquitoes irritating those who have perfume or man made chemicals on their skin, it is pretty good out there.

Fishing Times:   This morning the old weather stick along with the data that is coming in says the best time to be out there will be from..8:30 AM – 2:00 PM.  Then again from 4:00 PM – 6:30 PM.  I give it a 2 fish rating out of 4 for catching them this morning and later on possibly a 3 fish rating out of 4.  Should be able to have some fish for supper.  Good Luck.

Around Town:  Most places in town are doing well.  Some resorts are down in attendance, but that is understandable with the weather being as it has been.  But there is still a couple weeks left in the month and if things goes to plan we should see some really nice warm sunny days.  Temperatures will stay near 23 C / 73 F.  Can’t get much better than that.  On another note my wife and I have been quite busy with sales this year in our small store.  Native American Flutes are selling as fast as I can make them. Guess 45 years of making them is paying off with folks enjoying their serene sound of existence.  Still got a good selection though, as I did make up quite a few earlier in the year.  Good thing I did.  My Lovely Wife’s Paintings are also selling quite well in galleries and here at our store and on line.  She has a  hard time keeping them in the stores, as folks have been picking them up quite rapidly.  But it is to be expected though, as she is a talented Artist to say the least.  She paints irresistible abstracts, to nature scenes consisting of all kinds of animals along with nature of all kinds, refined in such a way, that when looked upon they hold your mind in wonder and amazement for hours on end.  Lots more of her paintings are in the works for the coming months which I am sure will take you on a visual adventure to only be exceeded by…owning one.  You can view some of her work here at her new web site, which will be added to in the near future.  That is my job and being so busy I just haven’t had time to do the work that is needed on it, but that will change in the coming weeks.  Click The Following Link..    https://ruth-walters.squarespace.com/      Enjoy your day my friends.

Port Loring Ontario, Weather, Bug Report, Fishing Times & Information

Good Morning:   Well cool morning out there starting out.  Temperatures waking up were sitting at…8.9 C | 48.02 F. But will warm up some as the day moves forward.  Got down to 6.2 C last night at the lowest point.

Forecast For Today:     Changeable, mending and for a change of pace it will be mostly sunny today.  So….some front porch sitting will be put on the agenda today for sure.   Need to soak up some of them rays for sure after all the cloudy days we have had.

Bug Report:   Pretty good bug wise these days, but last night I found the mosquitoes quite bad.  Was glad to get into the house away from them.  All the wet weather has contributed to their existence a bit I am thinking.  But through the day they are tolerable.

Fishing Times:  Today the old weather stick along with the data put together says the best time to be out there will be from..9:00 AM – 11:30 AM.  Then once again from 4:30 PM – 6:00 PM.  I give it a 1 fish rating out of 4 for catching them.  I did manage to get out yesterday with my good friend Barry, tried a new spot using his boat and things.  Not so lucky this time out, didn’t catch a thing.  Put the north wind together with all the rain we have been having, has messed up the fishing somewhat.  But only for a few days.  Other than not catching any fish yesterday I had a great time, as I always do with Barry.  Just good to get out.

Around Town:  Not to much to report here this morning.  Farmers Market is still up and running every Wednesday.  Cornfest is closing in on us also.  Kind of makes me wonder where the summer went.  Times sure  does fly by these days.  Kids will be heading back to school in a couple weeks also, with parents out buying all new clothes and things to make their journey to a new grade exciting.   So my friends, get outside today and enjoy that sunshine, soak up some rays, breath in some of that fresh air and get some exercise.  Do all that and no flu shot will be needed this winter.  Easy, simple and a whole lot better for your constitution.

Port Loring Weather, FIshing Times & Information

Good Morning:   Well weather wise it is looking like things will improve as the day moves forward.  Yesterday we had a whopping’  12 mm of rain fall throughout the day.  There is no shortage of moisture in our district let me tell you.  Temperatures this morning waking up were sitting at 13.9 C | 57.02 F.

Forecast For Today:    Fairly fine, possible showers early.  Then satisfyingly nice with a blend of sun and clouds for the rest of the day.

Bug Report:   In spite of all the cold, wet weather…we still have a few mosquitoes irritating folks, but not so much as to say one can’t get out and enjoy what is left of summer.

Fishing Times:   Today taking everything into consideration the old weather stick is saying that the best times to be out there will be from…7:30 AM – 9:30 AM.  Then again a bit later on from 4:30 PM – 7:00 PM.  I give it a 2 fish rating out of 4 for catching them today.  Things will begin to improve as the week moves forward.

Around Town:   Our Cornfest is impending on us as I type.  For all the information relating to this event click on flyer below.  ltss-0362  Also remember Trash and Treasures, a great store to pick up those items of choice, is still open and will be for the next two weeks.  For all those details click that flyer below also. Doris a very good friend of ours dropped by yesterday for a visit and said the store has been doing quite well this season.  Great lady for sure and does so much…as does the other volunteers working at the store.  One has to appreciate all that they do and if in the neighbourhood why not drop by and let them know just how much.  Enjoy your day my friends. ltss-0356

Port Loring Ontario, Weather, Fishing Times & Information

So how you all doing this morning?  Good I hope.  Crazy weather sure isn’t adding to ones pleasure that’s for sure. But on the bright side the old saying is, that messy weather brings families closer together.  Could have some substance to them words.  Temperatures were still cool waking up, sitting at…13.5 C | 56.3 F.

Forecast For Today:   Stormy, much rain with a thunderstorm this morning followed by a shower or thunderstorm this afternoon.   But tomorrow things will change and some sunshine will be upon us.  Winds have changed from the north to the south which is another good factor.  One more day of this wet stuff my friends.

Bug Report:   Well when the rain stopped yesterday for a wee bit the mosquitoes were raring to go.  Found that out while picking my tomatoes.  But not really enough to irritate a feller to much.  Other than that things are pretty good.

Fishing Times:  Well I will give them but can’t see anyone heading out to the water today.  Taking things in order that they are presented along with the old weather stick, the best time to be out there will be from 9:00 AM –  11:30 AM.  Then once again from 3:00 PM – 5:45 PM.  Good luck with that.

Around Town:  Not to much to report here this morning.  Although I should mention that our Cornfest is in the works and for all the information you can click the flyer below.  Did  manage as I stated above that I picked my first bushel of tomatoes yesterday.  Brought them in and will get to doing them up and putting them in jars tomorrow morning.  Maybe should do it today as it would warm up the house some.  Hmm have to see about that.  Kill two birds with one stone, so to speak.  So enjoy your day my friends, stay dry and warm, better weather is heading our way for tomorrow.

Port Loring Ontario Canada, Weather, Information & Fishing Times

Good Morning:  Well once again it is cloudy and damp.  But things will improve as most things do in life when given time.  Waking up this morning temperatures were sitting at..10.7 C | 51.26 F.

Forecast For Today:     Showery early,  then improving.  If things goes to plan we should see some sunshine later on today and in to tomorrow.  Also things will warm up some.  Almost a whole week of no sunshine.  Doesn’t make for a happy camper, one could say.

Bug Report:    None to speak of out there in this weather.  Will start to see a few mosquitoes once the sun moves upon us later but none in great amounts.

Fishing Times:  This morning taking all things into consideration, including the old weather stick, it is saying that the best times to be out there will be from 7:00 AM – 10:30 AM.  Then a bit later from 3:30 PM – 6:30 PM.  I give it a 1 fish rating out of 4 for catching them this morning and a 2 fish rating out of 4 this afternoon.  Good luck.

Around Town:  Folks have refrained from moving around for a bit, weather being such as it is. But once the sun comes out things will get back to its norm.   Veggie garden is sure in need of sunshine.  Tomatoes though are ripening fast on the vine.  This year being so wet I left them on to ripen to their fullest potential before picking and preserving.  In-spite of the rain and cloudy sky’s we will still have a great crop, which was brought on from our sunny sky’s earlier in the month.  My lovely wife tries to do up between sixty and a hundred jars a year.  Seems to be the magic number, which lasts a family of 4 for one season.  Quart jars that is.  Other items are doing quite well too.  Pumpkins are in abundance as our squash.  English cucumbers are being eaten daily and relish is in the jars waiting till winter arrives to sample.  Not that I didn’t have a taste or two already.  Corn is climbing to ten feet or better with cobs hanging, just a waiting for the sunshine to fill them with flavour.  So all and all my friends, things are turning out great.  Seems Mother Nature has a way of looking after herself and us humans no matter what the weather brings upon us.  Enjoy your day my friends.

Port Loring Information, Weather & Fishing Times

Good Morning:  Well repeat of yesterday so far this morning.  Rained pretty well all through the night and still raining this morning.  Temperatures were a touch cool this morning too, sitting at 8.8 C | 47.84 F.

Forecast Today:    Stormy, much rain. We could see a limps of sunshine later on in the day.  Tomorrow things will start to improve along with the temperatures edging up to near normal.

Bug Report:    Haven’t seen a bug around for a few days now with the weather being as it is.

Fishing Times:   This morning the old weather stick is saying that the best times to be out there will be from 10:00 AM – 12:00 AM.  Then again a bit later from 3:00 PM – 5:00 PM. I give it a 1 fish rating out of 4 for catching them this morning.  Then later on I give it a 2 fish rating out of 4.  So fishing will improve along with the weather.

Around Town:   I had to go to town yesterday to pick up a few items and passed our Farmers Market.  Have to say it was quite busy.  Which is a good thing.  Great to see folks out and about supporting our locals.  I mentioned I had a dentist drop by the other day and yesterday found out that my son is having some problems with one of his back choppers.  He did manage to get into a dentist which put a temporary filling in between the two teeth with something in it to stop the pain.  Had it done in the morning of yesterday and was still hurting last night, so hoping he is on the mend this morning.  Nothing is worse than a toothache as I know from years gone by.    Feel bad when ever I hear of anyone suffering with teeth problems.  So…tea time here, then see what the day brings upon us.  All good I hope.  Enjoy your day my friends.

Port Loring Ontario, Canada: Information, Weather & Fishing Times

Good Morning:   Well a bit cool this morning with more rain in the making.  Temperatures waking up were sitting at…13.5 C | 56.3 .

Forecast For Today: Stormy, much rain.  Things will steadily improve though starting tomorrow.  Although it will be quite cool for the remainder of today and in to tomorrow.  After that though things are looking good.

Bug Report:   Hardly a one interfering with us humans.  Cold windy weather is holding them at bay.  OK by me too.

Fishing Times: Today the old weather stick is saying that the best times to be out there will be from 6:30 AM – 10:30 AM.  Then once again later on towards evening from: 4:00 PM – 7:30 PM.  I give it a 1 fish rating out of 4. Not the greatest as our weather pattern is messing things up some.  But in saying that, the fishing in our area has never been so good. This year has been exceptional for catching, Pike, Pickerel and Large Mouth Bass.  I haven’t heard of one person that hasn’t caught their limit.  Reason being the water has stayed cool this year, which entices the fish to feed more often.  Also makes them frisky which makes for lots of action bringing them in.  Good luck.

Around Town:   Today is Market Day here in Port Loring.  I am thinking it would be in ones best interest to drop by and see what they have to offer.  Being that the Market is covered, rain isn’t a factor and what better place to take in on days like this. Might pay to bring along a jacket of sort.  Also don’t forget our other gift shops and stores here in Port Loring.  They also rely on you folks to stay afloat, so to speak.  Most put a lot of time, work and effort into their products, so that you have the best to choose from.  Also remember this.  When and where ever possible, try and buy Canadian Made Products.  After all…this is Canada.  Enjoy your day my friends.  Click Flyer Below for all the details relating to the Farmers Market.  Also if your in the area drop by our small store, you can click that flyer below also for information on how to get to us and a few items we have to offer.  All made right here in Canada.

Port Loring Ontario Canada: Weather, Events, Fishing Times & Tips

Good Morning: A bit damp this morning from the rain we had through the night.  We had 15 mm of rain from last night till early this morning.  Temperatures have dropped to 17.4 C | 63.32 F.  Quite pleasant for sleeping or working.

Forecast For Today:   Stormy, much rain.  Cooler weather will be with us for two more days with Thursday being the coldest.  Could get down to around 50 F / 14 C Thursday morning.  After that will get back up to the normal temperatures.  So some inside work is in store I would think, or maybe a trip to the city to pick up supplies.

Bug Report:     With these East winds coming in  this morning there is hardly a bug to be seen or felt for that matter.

Fishing Times & Tips:    Today the old weather stick along with the data that is flowing in says the best time to be out there will be from: 9:00 AM – 11:00 AM.  Then once again from 3:00 PM – 6:00 PM.  I give it a 2 fish rating out of 4 for catching them.  If out one might take a rain coat.  But I would suspect most would put fishing on the back burner for a day or so, weather being as such.  For those still wanting to go out, today I would recommend any live bait.  Days like this calls for the real thing.  Good luck.

Around Town:    Today is a touch quiet but that is to be expected as folks are staying in where it is dry.  Tomorrow morning is our Market Day with lots happening there.  One can click flyer below to view all the details, times and such.  Also one should remember that our Cornfest is approaching fast and for all the information pertaining to that you can click on that flyer also.  Two great events in one small town.  Enjoy your day my friends.

Port Loring Ontario, Canada: Events, Weather, Fishing Times & Tips

Good Morning:  Great looking day out there this morning.  Temperatures were sitting at 15.6 C | 60.08 F waking up.

Forecast For Port Loring:   Stormy, much rain is to come.  Hoping it is later on this evening which I suspect is the case.  Also the rain will be around for a couple days by the looks of the way the data is shaping up.  Today though we should see sunshine along with the temperatures rising quite substantially.   Will be a warm one as this leading front of hot air makes its appearance.  But it will be replaced by cooler air tomorrow.  Temperatures tomorrow will be much lower in the 60s, or if your into metric, around 15 C.

Bug Report:   Other than a few mosquitoes and deerflies things are pretty good.

Fishing Times & Tips:  This morning  the old weather stick is saying that the best times to be out there fishing will be from 7:30 AM – 9:30 AM.  Then once again from 12:00 PM – 3:00 PM and finally one more time from 5:45 PM – 7:30 PM.  Great day for fishing, maybe one of the best this year.  I give it a 4 fish rating out of 4.  Today my suggestion is to use what ever you like in lures and live bait.  Live bait would be my pick of the litter.  Minnows being on top of the list.  14Great place to buy your bait and things, is Gohm’s right here in Port Loring Ontario. Won’t find a nicer feller’ than Reg.

Around Town:   Things are quite busy as a norm for this time of year. Cars and trucks moving up and down highway 522 in abundance.  Great to see folks out and about.  Had a nice chap drop by yesterday, a Dentist in profession, residing at Lost Channel.  Nice fellow and we had a pleasant chat.  He enjoys the blog each morning and made a point of stopping by and letting me know.  Also picked up one of my latest books.  Nice to hear from folks and would like to thank him once more for taking the time.  So thinking now I will head on outside and take in what nature has to offer and enjoy my morning tea.  Seems nothing soothes the body and soul more than a good cup of tea, made, using our cold fresh water given to us free of all chemicals.  At least here at our home.  Will also soak up some of that sunshine that our body needs so badly.  Remember, for great health, one should expose their skin to the sunshine no less than fifteen minutes a day.  Early morning sun being the best. Want to lower your cholesterol with out medication…stay healthy?  This is the way to do it.  No Doctors Needed if you look towards what nature has to offer.  Enjoy Your Day My Friends.

Port Loring Ontario Canada: Weather, Events, Fishing Times & Tips

Good Morning:   Another really good looking day out there.  Waking up temperatures were sitting at..14.4 C | 57.92 F.  Will warm up quite a bit as the day moves forward.  Summer is finally here.

Forecast For Port Loring & District: Possibly showery early,  then improving.

Bug Report:  All is well with hardly a bug bothering anyone.  Can’t get much better than this.

Fishing Times & Tips:  Today looking at things, the old weather stick included, it looks like the best times to be out there fishing will be from..8:00 AM – 1:30 PM.  Then a bit later from 4:30 PM – 7:30 PM.  I give it a 4 fish rating for catching them out of 4.  Can’t get any better than that.  Item of preference today in the line of lures would be a  Fluorescent UV Spoon, small hook size..  Weight would be 7/8 oz.  Add a piece of worm to it and you are in business. This lure is great for long casts and gets deep even in fast-moving waters.  Also great for trolling.  You can usually purchase these lures for around $5.00 or so.  Just one more piece that one can add to their collection.  Good luck out there today. Click Picture to enlarge.  117348

Around Town:   Lots happening in and around Port Loring. Resorts that I have talked to are all doing quite well in bookings.  Stores are also doing well which is a great thing as up here in the north we don’t really get too many months that allows the money to flow in.  On another note the Cornfest is edging closer to  us here in Port Loring.  Just one more great event that will take place, bringing folks together for a fun time.  Great to be a part of it.  Click Flyer below to catch all the details pertaining to it.  ltss-0362

Port Loring Ontario Canada: Weather, Bug Report, Information, Fishing Times & Tips

Good Morning:   Well really nice looking day out there.  Waking up temperatures were sitting at:  12.1 C | 53.78 F.  Will warm up quite a bit as the day progresses.

Forecast For Today:   Fairly fine, improving.

Bug Report:  Actually quite nice out there these days.  Only time would be bothered would be if they ventured out into the bush in the evening hours.

Fishing Times & Tips:   Today the old weather stick is saying that the best times to be out there will be from…6:30 AM – 10:30 AM.  Then again from 3:30 PM – 6:30 PM.  I give it a 3 fish rating out of 4 for catching them.  So shaping up to be a great weekend for catching fish.  Bait of the day would be any small spoon, bright in colour.  A florescent orange would be my choice. Add a bit of worm or a live minnow and there isn’t a fish out there that will be able to resist it.  Good luck.

Around Town: Things are quite busy with all our places of business, including us.  Nice after a slow start in June and July.  Thinking things will stay that way now till the end of September.  Enjoy your day my friends.

Port Loring Ontario, News, Weather, Fishing Times & Tips

Good morning:   Well a touch cool this morning.  Temperatures were sitting at 11.6 C | 52.88 F waking up.  Will warm up some as the day moves forward.

Forecast For Port Loring Ontario Canada:  Unsettled, slight chance of some rain but sunshine is in the forecast for today.  Quite pleasant I would say.

Bug Report:  Here again it is quite nice with the only ones showing themselves in the early evening hours.  Great time of year for what ever your planning to do.

Fishing Times & Tips:   This morning the old weather stick is saying that the best times to be out there will be from…8:00 AM – 10:30 AM.  Then once again from 3:30 PM – 7:30 PM.  Lots of time to catch that big one.  Today for bait I would recommend minnows.  I don’t think there is anything out there today that will top them.

Around Town:   Quite busy for most. Our Cornfest is edging in on us.  Going to be a great event for sure and one defiantly wouldn’t want to miss it. Click Flyer Below which will explain everything in detail.

On another note the veggie gardens are coming along quite well.  We have been eating our tomatoes now for the past three days and will probably start canning in a week or so.  Pumpkin’s this year has run ramped so will defiantly have a good crop there.  Also the squash is looking good too.  Sure enjoy them with a touch of butter.  Corn also has reached it’s height for the season and silk tassels are showing up daily for pollination.  So should be eating it later on. That’s about it for today, tea time here and will see what the day brings upon us.  Enjoy your day my friends, get outside, soak up some sunshine.  In doing so no flu shot will be needed this fall.  ltss-0362

Port Loring Ontario Information, Weather, Fishing Time & Tips

Good Morning:   Pretty good looking day out there so far.  Temperatures were sitting at 11.6 C | 52.88 F waking up.  Will warm up considerably a bit later.

Forecast For Today:   Unsettled, some rain could show itself through out the day.  Lets hope we see nothing but sunshine.  I am thinking the trend will lean towards dryer weather for the month of August with some nice temperatures.

Bug Report:    Other than a few mosquitoes and deerflies things are pretty good for this time of year.

Fishing Times & Tips:  This morning taking everything into consideration, along with the old weather stick it seems the best times to be out there fishing would be from..8:00 AM – 10:30 AM.  Then once again from 1:00 PM – 2:30 PM and one more time from 5:45 PM –  7:00 PM.  So lots of time to catch supper.   Today I would recommend a Top Bait in Frog Form. You can usually pick them up for around $5.00 or so and on days like this they do their job in attracting the big ones, quite well.  Their flow-through design drains water with each twitch to keep it from filling up, sinking or snagging.  Perfect for in, on top and around lilly pad, weeds or feeding grass.  I prefer the dark green in colour ones about 2-1/2″ long and weighing: 1/2 oz.  Every one should have a couple in their tackle box.  Click Picture for better viewing.  123836

Around Town:   Things are quite busy this time of year, with all stores showing rewards.  Which is what is needed to keep our small community maintaining a steady growth.  Without tourists, well….lets not even think about that scenario.  The Farmers Market was a hit yesterday with folks in great numbers showing up to take in what they had to offer.  It does have a huge parking lot and it was full. Great to see so many folks out an about supporting our local establishments.  We were quite busy also here at our small store  which makes all our hard work in making products..worth while.  Next on events is our Cornfest coming up in a week or so.  You can click the flyer below to view all the details. You won’t want to miss it.  ltss-0362

Good Morning:  Well nice looking day out there so far this morning.  Sun is shinning and temperatures waking up were sitting at .. 11.6 C | 52.88 F. Will warm up as the day progresses.

Forecast For Today:  Unsettled, some rain possible as much as I hate to say it.  But got my fingers crossed we have mostly sunshine.

Bug Report:   Out on the water it is quite good, along with in and around Port Loring. Venturing out into the bush you could be irritated somewhat, but then that is their home to say the least.  One would expect to be chewed upon a few times.  All and all not so bad right now.

Fishing Times:    Today the old weather stick is saying that the best time to be out there will be from 11:00 AM – 2:00 PM.  Then once again from 5:00 PM – 7:30 PM.  I give it a 2 fish rating out of 4 for catching them. Bait of the day minnows on a bright coloured lure should catch their attention..

Around Town:   All stores are quite busy and have had some word from a few resort owner friends of mine saying they are doing quite well this month.  So that is a good sign.  Also we have been quite busy these days in our small store.  Drop by if your in the area, you will be glad you did.  11588 Highway 522 Port Loring.  On another note our Farmers Market Special Farmers Day Event is taking place starting this morning.  For all the information click flyer below.  ltss-0368

Port Loring Ontario, Events, Information, Weather, Fishing Times & Tips For Our Area

Good Morning:   Well not a bad looking day out there so far this morning.  We have some clouds moving in but they should clear out as the day moves forward.  Temperatures weren’t to bad waking up this morning.  They were sitting at…                 16.5 C | 61.7 F.

Forecast for Today:  Fairly fine, possible showers early then clearing.  So should have some nice weather.

Bug Report:   Other than mosquitoes in the evening hours and a few through out the day not so bad.  One can tolerate them as far as tolerate goes.

Fishing Times & Tips:   This  morning the old weather stick is saying that the best time to be out there will be from..8:15 AM – 11:45 AM.  Then once again from 3:00 PM –  6:30 PM.  I give it a 1 fish rating for catching them out of 4.  Not the greatest but if one works at it they should be able to hook on a nice one for supper.  Today I recommend our old faithful bait…. the worm.  Add a worm to a coloured spoon with one small hook and I am thinking you will do just fine.  Orange would be my colour of choice.  Fish the shore lines and have some patience.  I have found one can’t rush fishing as it shouldn’t be rushed.  You are out there to enjoy the day and what nature has to offer.  A few fish for dinner is a plus.

Around Town:  Things are quite busy here in Port Loring with lots of tourists moving in to enjoy what we and nature has to offer.  We are having a Farmers Day Special Event on Wednesday August the 6th that’s tomorrow.  One shouldn’t miss this event.  You can click flyer below to see all the details.  ltss-0368 Along with that we also have our yearly Cornfest coming up at the end of the month another great event.  For all that information you can once again click the flyer below pertaining to that too.  ltss-0362

Port Loring Ontario..Information, Weather, Fishing Times & Tips

Good Morning:  Well nice looking day out there waking up.  Went for a walk go loosen up the old bones a bit and set some things out on the wagon out front to draw ones mind towards our store.  Put up our open sign and now enjoying a tea.  Temperatures waking up were sitting at…13.8 C | 56.84 F.  Will warm up quite a bit as the day marches forward.  Great looking long weekend for sure.

Forecast For Today:   Fairly fine, improving.

Fishing Times & Tips:   This morning the old weather stick is saying that the best time to be out there will be from…7:30 AM – 9:30 AM.  Then again from 4:00 PM – 7:30 PM.  I give it a 3 fish rating out of 4 for catching them.  Item of choice today would be… a Classic Vibrax Plated Spinner.  Come in assorted colours. Myself I like Gold.  I have one that weighs 3/8  of an ounce and is marked a number 4 hook size.  I have had some pretty good luck using it.  Usually I just toss it out on its’ own, no weight added towards some lilly pads and draw in slowly.  Also very good for trolling with a small piece of bait attached to it.  Give it a try and if that don’t work use a live minnow.  Remember to keep your minnows in a good bait bucket that can hang over the edge of your boat, which in turn keeps them alive and well.  Dead minnows catch nothing for most parts. Around Town:  My lovely wife went for a walk this morning and took a picture of our boat dock with our new sign.  Also took one of Wilson Lake really nice view to say the least.  So thought I would let you take a look.  Lake seems to mesmerise a person beckoning them or her to come for a visit.  Click Pictures To Enlarge.

Port Loring Information, Weather, Fishing Times & Tips

Good Morning:  Well nice looking day out there waking up.  Temperatures were sitting at…12.5 C | 54.5 F and will warm up considerably as the day progresses.  Even got a touch of sunshine.

Forecast For Today:    Possibly showery early, improving though as the day moves forward.

Bug Report:   I have to say that this is about the best time of year to visit the north.  Hardly no bugs to deal with and weather is most favourable.  It’s my favourite month of the year.

Fishing Times & Tips:   This morning taking a look at things and taking into consideration what the old weather stick is saying, I would say the best time to be out there fishing would be from 7:00 AM – 10:30 AM.  Then again from 2:30 PM – 4:00 PM.  Then one more time from 5:00 PM – 7:30 PM.  I give it a 2 fish rating out of 4 for catching them this morning and a 3 fish rating out of 4 this afternoon.  The item I would pluck out of my tackle box today would be a Walleye Float-N-Spinner With A No. 4 live-bait hook.  Add a piece of worm or leach and there is no fish out there that can resist what it has to offer.  Click Picture To Enlarge and good luck.  112688

Port Loring, Weather, Information, Fishing Times & Tips and a Special Event August 6th

Good Morning:   Well finally some sunshine waking up.  Temperatures were sitting at…15.9 C | 60.62 F.  Will warm up even more as the day moves forward.

Forecast For Today:   Changeable, mending with some clouds.  Hoping the cloud part moves on and leaves us with nothing but sunshine.  Kind of had enough of the rain and cloudy, gloomy days.  What we need is them warm, lazy days of summer.  Mix that with some front porch sittin’ and a gal or feller is well on to their way of enjoying life.

Fishing Times & Tips:   This morning the old weather stick is saying that the best times to be out there with rod in hand will be from…9:30 AM – 11:00 AM.  Then once again from 2:30 PM – 5:30 PM.  I give it a 2 fish rating out of 4 for catching them.  Might move up to a 3 fish rating out of 4 this afternoon.  Depends if things all line up.  Tackle of the day I would recommend another...Panther Martin Walleye Spinner Lure – Fluorescent in colour.  I like the on with the smaller hook..1/4 ounce in weight.  Add a piece of live bait to the end of it, cast out near some lilly pads, stump or salad, wait a bit then slowly reel it back in and I am thinking that if there is nice pickerel anywhere near, he won’t be able to resist the tasty treat you are offering him.  These spinners sell for a nominal price of around $5.00.  Great addition to ones tackle box. Around Town:  Had some friends drop by yesterday dropping off a flyer relating to the Farmers Market, Farmers Day…a one day special event. Brings back a lot of memories for myself as I farmed for most my life.  Sounds to me like it is going to be a really great event and no one should miss it.  Only for one day starting at 9:00 AM.  August 6th, rain or shine.  Click Flyer for a larger version which will entail everything that is happening.  Take the time folks to attend, as without us folks supporting the local merchants, they will surely cease to exist.  ltss-0368 Also the folks that are handling things at this event is looking for a volunteer to cook the corn.  If you feel your up to the challenge, drop me a line and I will let them know.  Thanks.
