Morning Post March 23/2020

So how you all making out here in Port Loring, Ontario, this morning? Or anywhere for that matter? Cool cloudy morning waking up but we could see some sunshine later on today. Temperatures were sitting at -2.2 C | 28.04 F. It will warm up a wee bit as the day progresses. We didn’t have any snow overnight which is a good thing, as I am ready for some green to start showing up along with warmer weather. Not much happening around our house. My wife an I are taking it easy trying to stay put for awhile. Once it warms up some it will be nice to get outside and work in my shop and gardens. Help take our minds off what is going on. I think what folks has to do now, is look after yourself of course and take the precautions necessary. But right now I feel it would be best to start to do other things than watch the news all day. It’s just to depressing. I say once a day to keep informed, and then get onto other things. That’s my opinion only of course, and it’s what my wife an I are going to be doing in the coming days. So … for today I will work on another new Podcast and do some things around the house. Take care my friends, GW

Morning Report March 22/2020

Good morning. It’s another great looking day. The sun is shinning, what could be better than that? Well … lots actually. But we have to take what is handed to us and then deal with it. Highway 522 is bare and dry this morning which will make travelling good, but as we all know best to stay home for now. We didn’t have any snow overnight, but it is quite cool with temperatures sitting at -8.6 C | 16.52 F. It will warm up a lot as the day moves forward. Looking out at the Highway things are very quiet, with folks settled in at their homes. Which is a good thing. There are a lot of places that have closed their doors, like churches and some stores around our area. My wife will be doing up a sign saying we will be closing temporarily with what is going on. But it is for the best, and this is our small way of helping out, as we for sure don’t want to catch it, or spread it to others. On another note, I am working away on another Podcast show for Friday morning, which will keep me busy for most the day. I want to get a few ahead so I can enjoy our nice warm weather and sunshine, when it arrives. With that I am off for a bite to eat. We kind of slept in a bit late this morning. I guess our bodies needed it. You all take care my friends, stay calm and try your best to make it a good day. Positive thinking goes a long way. GW

Morning Report March 21/2020

Good morning. Well other than it being darn cold outside this morning with temperatures sitting at -15.4 C | 4.28 F, its a pretty good looking day here in Port Loring, Ontario, Canada. We did have some snow overnight, about one inch. Highway 522 is bare for most parts, but there are some icy sections throughout. It should melt as soon as this sun starts to throw off some warmth. It will warm up as the day moves forward and even warmer tomorrow with more sunshine. That’s what I like to see. My son down in St. Catharines said it was +17 down there, which is nice for sure. He opened all his windows and aired out the house as they have been having so much sickness in their area. So on another note … how are you folks doing? I hope you are taking the precautions that is necessary to keep you and your family safe. Distancing is one of the best. In some areas it doesn’t seem necessary but it is. We all have to do our part…. With that I am off for my morning cup of coffee and will see what mischief I can get myself into. I do have a new Podcast almost ready, so maybe will finish that. While on the subject of my Podcasts, I would like to thank all those that have gotten in touch with me saying how much they are enjoying them. Finally. Every day I get out of bed, I say … We are one day closer to finding something that can help with this virus. I find for me, a positive mind helps a lot. Take care of yourselves my friends. Things will work out.

Morning report March 20/2020

Good Morning Folks. I hope you are all fairing well. It’s a rainy, cloudy morning here in Port Loring, Ontario. Temperatures won’t be as warm as it was yesterday but will still be quite nice. Waking up temperatures were sitting at 4.1 C | 39.38 F. We might see a wee bit of sunshine later on in the day. Highway 522 is bare and dry which will make travelling pretty good. If you do travel make sure you practice social distancing. Every bit helps in slowing this down. But I suspect you all know that by now. Yesterday my wife and I took advantage of the nice weather and got outside for most the day. We cleaned the shop and did a bit of yard work. It felt good being outside in the fresh air. Today we will remain in the house doing some things that need doing. With that I am off for my morning cup of coffee with my lovely wife. Stay calm my friends, things will work out. The main thing is we have to help each other and those in need. From a distance of course. We can do that, as we have the means now a days with internet and phones. A cheerful phone call goes a long way. Take care. GW

Morning report March 19/2020

Good Morning. Looking out the window things look to be shaping up quite nicely. The sun is shinning , and hardly no wind so speak of. Highway 522 is bare and dry which will make travelling good for those that need to do so. Temperatures at the moment are a bit cool sitting at -4.3 C | 24.26 F. But it will warm up a lot shortly which will make it nice to get outside for some fresh air. Tonight though we could see some heavy rain, changing over to some snow as things cool down. But with these temperatures being this warm we shouldn’t get much. With that I am off for my morning cup of coffee and will let the day unfold around me, and once things warm up a bit my lovely wife and I will head on outside for some much needed sunshine and fresh air. Have a great day an stay safe, which can be done from a distance. LOL GW

Morning Report March 18/2020

So another not too bad of a day here for Port Loring, Ontario, Canada. The sun was shinning awhile ago, but at the moment we are under some clouds. It will remain a bit cloudy throughout the day. With sunshine off and on. Temperatures were sitting at -5.2 C | 22.64 F. It will warm up later on this morning and tomorrow should be really nice. Good day to get outside and go for a walk. Maybe wash your car. Mine is clean, washed it yesterday. But I do have some shop work to do so I might get into that. At the moment it is a mess. Highway 522 is bare and dry so travelling will be good, but as you all know, or should know, care should be taken when out and about, keeping your distance from others. Wave, throw them a kiss, or what ever, just not to close for a spell. Kind of a hard thing to do. With that I am off for my morning cup of coffee. Have a great day make it a great day. Hang in there. GW

Morning Report March 17/2020

Good morning. Well looking out the window here in Port Loring, Ontario this morning it looks as if we are back into winter. Everything is white. Trees are covered and more coming down. Kind of a good day to stay inside. Highway 522 is partially covered with an icy mix. The plow just went by which will make things a bit easier for travelling if it is absolutely necessary. But as I keep on saying distancing yourself from folks right now is very important. It’s the only way we can slow this virus down a bit. If we slow it down our health personal will then be able to keep up and help those that need help. Temperatures did cool down through the night and getting out of bed they were sitting at 0.1 C | 32.18 F. It will warm up a wee bit as the day progresses. With that I am off to light my wood furnace, trying to save a bit of oil in case of an emergency. I have wood but not to much oil left. Oh one last thing. I would like to thank all those that have written, emailed and called me saying they liked my last Podcast regarding the virus. Look after yourselves my friends and take the precautions necessary, and smile. It goes a long way. GW

Morning Report March 16/2020

Good morning. Great looking day waking up. The sun is shinning, what could be better than that. Although I haven’t checked the news yet. HA HA. But in reality, a day is only as good as you make it. Highway 522 is bare and dry this morning, which will make travelling quite good. Although, I hope you aren’t travelling to far these days. We did loose a lot of snow yesterday and through the evening hours. I suspect we will loose some more today too. Which is a good thing. The quicker we get into some nice weather the better. With what is happening in the world today. Temperatures waking up were sitting at -4.5 C | 23.9 F but it will warm up some later on, We will also loose a bit of our sunshine after a bit, with clouds entering into the picture. With that … I am off for my morning cup of coffee with my lovely wife, and will then see what this day has in store for us. Take care of yourselves. GW

Maybe I will give them an extra scoop this morning. Feel kind of generous today. HA HA. Other than that not much more to report here today. Kind of a quiet day. With that I am off for my morning cup of coffee, and will just enjoy this nice sunny day. Have a great day. GW

Morning Report March 14/2020

Good morning Folks. Hope everyone is making out okay with what is going on in the world today. The best thing you can do is restrict yourself from any groups of people and stay calm, and take sanitary protections in and around your home. We have to remember we aren’t going to be able to stop this virus, it will have to run its course, but we do have the ability to slow it down, so that our medical profession has the means to help those that really need it. The window of opportunity is closing, so it is really up to us. The only real treatment is us. Other than that it is another cloudy day here in Port Loring, Ontario, Canada. We should see lots of sunshine later on today, which by the way is one thing the virus doesn’t like. Temperatures waking up were sitting at -1.8 C | 28.76 F. It will warm up some as the day progresses. Highway 522 is bare and dry which will make travelling good, but in saying that, if at all possible don’t travel. Morning Report March 13/2020

So how you all doing this morning? Good I hope. We all woke up to cloudy weather here in Port Loring, Ontario, this morning. We also are having a few showers thrown in for good measure. I suspect it will continue for most the day. I don’t think we will see any sunshine till later on tomorrow. Temperatures were a bit cool this morning sitting at 1.5 C | 34.7 F. It won’t warm up much more today than it is now. Highway 522 is bare and wet this morning which is good for travelling. My wife and I did make a trip to North Bay yesterday for some supplies. A lot of things are sold out because of this virus that is threatening our country and others. At least some folks are getting prepared which I feel is a good thing. Today I will take things a bit easy as it seems that after a trip to town it takes me a day to recoup so to speak. Probably caused from the money we spent. Ha ha. Man things are getting expensive. Some stores though are trying to capitalize on this virus charging double the normal prices. Kind of makes me shake my head in wonder sometimes. But that is what some folks do from time to time. With that I am off for my morning cup of coffee with my lovely wife, and then will see what the day has in store for me. Never know these days. Have a great day , stay calm with what is going on, and do what you can to make things easier for yourself an family. GW

With that I am off to put a piece of wood in the furnace and will then have a cup of coffee with my lovely wife. Have a great day! GW

I might even wash the car today. With our kind of roads things do get a bit messy at times. And it’s good to keep things cleaned up. We didn’t have anymore snow overnight. Morning report March 7/2020

Good morning. Hope you all had a great night. Looking outside things are starting off right with lots of sunshine. What can be better than that? Well … for me, warmer weather, along with that sunshine would be nice. Which we will get later on today, and tomorrow we could crowd the 50F/7C mark. Might even put my lawn chairs outside and soak up some of that Organic Vitamin D 3. LOL. Some have asked me, what I think they can do to help with this virus that is starting to spread here in Canada. Well …. looking back at all my notes relating to health, and from what I have learned over the years, I figure if you really want to help yourself and family, you should be taking at the minimum of 1000 UI of Vitamin D3 every day. Make sure it is Vitamin D3. The others are okay, but not as good. It’s to much for me to explain right here an now how it works, but it will help a lot. And of course wash your hands, and wipe down things in your home with a Good Wipe like Clorox Wipes, I don’t recommend Lysol wipes, as they can bother the sinus and other things, which could weaken the lungs. And don’t forget your door knobs and light switches around the home, and your handles and steering wheel on your car. “And if your feeling poorly stay home and get better.” Very Important. Highway 522 is bare and dry this morning, which will make travelling good. So, there you have it and for those that has sent me E-mails an asked, I hope this helps. With that I am off for my morning cup of coffee and then will see what the day has in store. Other than lighting my wood furnace as it is cool this morning, with temperatures sitting at -11.9 C | 10.58 F. But it will warm up in a bit. Have a great day. GW

Morning Report March 6/2020

Good morning. Well we are still having a wee bit of winter by the looks of things. We did have some flurries overnight which amounted to around 2 inches or so. We are also in the midst of clouds this morning. We could see another inch of snow throughout the day, but I suspect that, some sunshine should break through as the day progresses. Which is fine by me, as I am ready for spring. After today things will warm up considerable. Above the freezing mark which will melt most of the snow we have laying around. Highway 522 is mostly bare and wet this morning. Travelling should be good later on today. Yesterday my wife and I went to town to pick up more supplies, as it is always nice to have a bit extra in case of need, living so far off the beaten path so to speak. The store were quite busy, but not so bad as you had to wait in line long. We also had a visit with our son while having lunch, and headed on home. Great day all way round. Nice to get out now and then as it breaks up the normal routine, which can get to being boring after awhile. Today I will do some work around the house here helping my lovely wife, and then will go from there. Just never know … as things change as time moves by. Have a great day. GW

Morning Report March 4/2020

Good morning. Great looking day out there waking up. The sun is shinning at the moment, but it will turn cloudy as the day progresses. We could see a light flurry or two, but nothing to write home about. Temperatures starting the day were sitting at -1.6 C | 29.12 F. Not to bad, and it will warm up a touch more in a bit, which should get rid of some more snow. We didn’t have anymore new snow overnight. Highway 522 is bare and wet, but travelling should be good. On another note I have been burning a we bit of wood these days, saving my oil. I can always tell how the winter went, heat wise by looking at my wood pile and so far it is looking good. Today I will be working away on some stories for my columns and magazines I write for, along with my Podcasts. With that I am off for my morning cup of coffee with my lovely wife. Have a great day. GW

Morning Report March 3/2020

My wife and I did go pick up some supplies yesterday which took most of the day. But it was a nice day with sunshine following us all the way there and back. Stores are busy with folks stocking up, on things. Certain items are all sold out. Monday isn’t the best day to go to town we found, as they don’t restock the shelves till around Wednesday. But … we made out okay. We didn’t have any more snow overnight. Today I will work around the house here on a new Podcast and relax. With that I am off for my morning cup of coffee with my lovely wife. Have a great day. GW

Well first day of March and we all woke up to sunshine here in Port Loring, Ontario. It is a wee bit cool with temperatures sitting at -14.1 C | 6.62 F. It will warm up as the day moves forward with temperatures hovering just about the freezing mark, which should start the snow to melt. Highway 522 is bare this morning for most parts. There are a few icy sections throughout, but travelling today should be good. We didn’t have anymore snow overnight. Total amount on the ground would be close to 1 foot. Morning Report Feb 29/2020

Good morning. Well it’s not too bad of a morning other than being a touch cool, with temperatures sitting at -15.9 C | 3.38 F. But for us heat really isn’t an issue with us using the wood furnace. But in saying that wood heat does have its drawbacks as we all know. I actually don’t know how much longer I will be using it to heat with. I am slowly edging my way towards other avenues so to speak. We will see how it goes. Highway 522 is partially covered this morning with some icy sections throughout. But that is understandable, with all the snow we had the last two days. But it won’t last long, as temperatures will rise after tomorrow above the melting point. We didn’t have any more snow overnight. On another note my wife and I did manage to clean out our driveway yesterday. Seems every year things are getting a touch harder to do. But we both are getting up there in years. The main thing is, we have to learn our limits of what we can and cannot do. That’s where things gets interesting ha ha. Anyways, life is good for most parts, so not complaining. Have a great day. GW
