Good Morning! It’s a cloudy snowy day here in Port Loring, Ontario, Canada. The temperature getting out of bed was sitting at -16.3 C | 2.66 F. Still cold but not as cold it has been, that’s for sure. Highway 522 is snow covered this morning which is understandable, with the snow we had overnight. I suspect the highway will be that way for most of the day. On another note my wife and I got up yesterday, turned on my computer and nothing came up. LOL So after working with my son over the phone and not being able to fix it, we loaded it into the car and took it to his place. We dropped it off at his place, giving it to him in his parking lot. We then drove around a bit picked up some take out, and went back to his parking lot to eat and chat on the phone, while waiting to hear the results about my computer LOL. He found that one of the hard- drives that was in it messed up, so he replaced that, set things back up, and we were on our way back home. I told him that … it was Family day, and he did his part helping family LOL. We did buy him lunch though and dropped that off to him too. It is nice having a fellow that can fix or find any computer problem that arises. And I mean any problem. Actually it was a really nice day for a trip to town. Other than having the computer problem. Today I will work away here on my computer writing up a couple more stories, being it’s so nasty outside. We did have around six inches or so of new snow overnight, and it is still coming down. I suspect it will stop around noon. Tomorrow we will clean things up. That will be a full day. With that I am off for my morning bowl of cereal with my lovely wife, and will then get to work. Work that I enjoy that is. Take care and stay safe.

Good Morning! It’s another cold morning here in Port Loring, Ontario, Canada. However, the sun is shinning which makes it seem a lot nicer. But in saying that, it isn’t as cold as it was yesterday morning with the temperature sitting at -29.6 C | -21.28 F. This morning’s temperature getting out of bed was -21.6 C | -6.88 F. Highway 522 is snow covered this morning for most parts, caused by about an inch of snow we had through the night. On another note, my wife and I took a trip to North Bay yesterday to pick up our groceries, that we ordered online, dropped a few things off to our son at his door and then thinking since it was Valentine’s Day, I would get take-out for my lovely wife at Swiss Chalet. Which we did. There again we ordered it before we left for 12:00 PM, and they brought it to our car. So there was no need to go inside. Even still, we brought it home and my little woman wiped everything down, just to make sure things would be safe. She does that with everything these days. And with this new strain of virus among the people in North Bay, more caution now has to be taken. Crazy world we live in these days. After that we headed on home enjoying a coffee that my wife made before we left … and took in what nature had to offer along the way. Pretty good day other than being a touch cool. Today we both will take things easy. My wife is doing a painting on the new cabinet door that I made for our cottage to be. I will take a picture when all said and done and share it with you. For myself, I will get another Podcast going as I have another in mind which will keep me busy for a couple of days. I decided to let the stove in the woodworking shop go out for now, being so cold and will take a break in that department for a few days. With that I am off for a bowl of cereal with my lovely wife, and a game of crib, and will let the day unfold around me. Life is like a mystery novel. You just never know what might take place.

Good Morning! I hope you are all well on this cold Friday morning. Highway 522 here in Port Loring is all but bare and dry this morning. It is very cold though, with the temperatures getting out of bed sitting at -23.1 C | -9.58 F. It will warm up a touch as the day progresses. Tonight and tomorrow night will remain cold before temperatures start to rise. On the other hand, we should see some sunshine today amongst them clouds that are up there now. Which will make it a bit nicer. Yesterday being so cold I worked here at my Computer on some stories, and today I suspect I will do much the same. Other than that, not much happening in our small community these days. Being closed down and so cold most folks are staying home. Which is a good thing, as the numbers are dropping a lot with the new cases of this virus. That proves we can slow it down if we really want to. Slow it down and save lives, means a lot to me. But not to some folks, that’s for certain. Such is life. All boils down to what is important, and it seems these days it is all about money for a lot of folks. Kind of a shame we humans have become that way. With that I am off for my morning bowl of cereal and will then see what the day has in store. You just never know. Take care and stay safe. There is a light at the end of the tunnel.

Good morning! It’s a cold morning here in Port Loring, Ontario, Canada. The sun is shinning though, which makes it feel somewhat nicer outside. The temperature at the time of this post … 8:47 PM was sitting at -18.3 C | -0.94 F. It will remain sunny with a few clouds for the next few days. But it will get a lot colder too. So … it might pay to put an extra blanket on your bed for the next couple of days. It’s not necessary for our home with this new wood furnace we installed a few years ago, as if anything we have to keep the door open that leads to our back porch which keeps it cooled down somewhat. LOL. Nice to be able to do that. Lets in some much-needed fresh air too. While on the topic of fresh air in the home: I believe that all these new airtight windows that they are putting in the homes today aren’t the best. Oh, they might save a few dollars with the heating bill, but they sure don’t do anything for your health. We were going to install new windows, throughout the whole house, but decided against it. And I am glad we did, as now our house isn’t 100% airtight, which means at any given time we are getting fresh air. Which is what the body needs to stay healthy. Truth be told I believe that these older windows are a lot better than the new ones of today. Better glass too. Add a bit of fresh air in your home, hang a few nice plants from the ceiling, and put some on the windowsills, and you’re all set. The plants thrive and so do you. A home that is too airtight isn’t good. Highway 522 is partially snow and ice covered this morning throughout. But having no snow in the forecast travelling should be fair, but care should be taken. But in saying that, you shouldn’t be going anywhere, unless it is absolutely necessary. This lock down is slowing the spread down a lot and if we keep on doing what we are doing it will save a lot of lives. But you all know that right? With that I am off for my morning bowl of porridge and will then get to work on a podcast I have just about finished. Take care and stay safe and have a great day. Make it a great day. No one can do that but you.

Good Morning! It’s a sunny morning here in Port Loring, Ontario Canada. The sun should remain with us today and right up till the weekend. Oh, there will be a few clouds, but we can deal with that as long as the sun is the dominant part of our day. Right? It is cold though, with the temperature sitting at -19.7 C | -3.46 F. Kind of nippy you might say. It will warm up a wee bit as the day progresses. On the other hand it will become very cold for the next few days with temperatures falling well below -0 Fahrenheit. I kind of think, that Friday night will be the coldest night of the year. Highway 522 is partially bare, but there are a lot of icy sections throughout. But even with it being so cold the sun makes a feller want to go outside. Amazing really what a bit of sunshine can do for a person. And truth be told, it is what our body needs these days to fight this virus that is among us. Vitamin D3 … From what I have learned over the years would be around 35% effective in helping you against the virus. And even more, once your immune system is built up to where it should be. Everyone in Canada I would bet if tested, would be on the low side. I think doctors should make that a main part of the blood tests nowadays. Along with other vitamins and minerals. On another note I worked in the woodworking shop yesterday for most of the day. Sorting out things that should have been done years ago. I am trying to put plumbing, electrical and hardware all in their own place so when I am in need of something I know where to look. Even nails, screws, bolts and things. A little at a time gets things done. The thing is I have most anything I really need, but when I want something I can’t find it LOL so … I go buy new. Now I should, save a bit, once I get things sorted out, as over the years I have collected a lot of stuff. LOL. With that I am off for a bowl of porridge with my lovely wife, and will then let the day do as it so chooses. Take care and stay safe. Even with the numbers going down … because of us closing down, isn’t the time to let your guard down. GW

Figures. Ontario the worst, but understandable, with what some powers to be are doing these days. Now with opening things up. This is just a chart for the new … real bad variants that is starting to get a foot hold here in Canada. Not that the other one isn’t bad too, don’t think that! LOL

Morning Chat Feb 8/2021

Good Morning!! It’s a very cold morning here in Port Loring Ontario. The temperature waking up was sitting at -23.1 C | -9.58 F. It was kind of crunchy, walking to the woodworking shop this morning to put some wood in the stove. While out there I fed our birds at the feeder. Some of them little chickadees, land right on my hand now when I go to feed them. I guess it’s their way of saying thanks. Kind of nice. One thing my lovely wife and I enjoy is watching the birds at the feeder all winter long. I have it set up, so we can see it from our two leather lazy boy chairs, my desk where I write at, and the kitchen table. With weather like this so cold, and so much snow, I know they are having their work cut out for them trying to get a meal. So … I help them out a wee bit. Highway 522 is snow covered, with lots of icy sections throughout this morning, which is understandable with the weather we have been having for the past few days. I took a picture of exactly how much snow we have at the back of our house yesterday, and will add it to the bottom of this post. It will give you an idea of just how much snow we do have in our area. There is more in certain areas, but where I took the reading is out in the open, so it should be pretty accurate. Yesterday my wife and I cleaned up the snow on our decks and around the house here, along with the ladies next door. I have to tell you both of us were all in when all said and done. We slept good. LOL I am glad we did get it finished with the cold that is upon us now. It would be quite nasty if we would have to be out there today. But it’s done, and for the next few days we will stay in where it’s warm. I lit the wood furnace in our home here, so we will be nice and toasty. The wood furnace we have does a great job, with little cost. What could be better than that. With that I am off for some cranberry pancakes my wife is making for us, and will then get to working on a podcast I have on the go. Take care and stay safe, this virus isn’t getting any better and I suspect it will get a lot worse with the kids going back to school, and some places of business opening back up. Huge mistake our government is making especially … right now. Such is life.

Snow Depth in Port Loring Ontario Feb. 8/2021

Morning Chat Feb. 7/2021

Good Morning! I hope every one is well. The temperature is a touch cool here in Port Loring, Ontario this morning, sitting at -11.7 C | 10.94 F. Things won’t warm up much. Highway 522 is snow covered and will remain that way for a day or so. We might if lucky see a wee bit of sunshine this morning but for most parts the clouds will remain with us today, tomorrow and into Tuesday. With a few light flurries thrown in for good measure. We had another 3 or 4 inches last night bringing our total for the past two days up to around a foot and a half, more in certain areas. So there is lots of snow on the ground that is for certain. I have noticed a few snowmobiles out there mostly locals which is a good thing in part. Staying home or doing things around your home keeps the risk down of someone spreading this virus. And with this new strain you can get it within a minute, sometimes even with a mask on, if both parties aren’t wearing one. So be careful. Yesterday was a full day cleaning up the snow around our place as you can see with the pictures I posted yesterday. Today my lovely wife and I will clean up our neighbours deck, car and things. She is getting up there in years and hey! Isn’t that what good neighbours are for. Helping those that need help. Been that way all our lives for my wife and I. After that I suspect we will be in need of a bit more rest so will take it easy. With that take care and stay safe.

Made in Canada Vaccine Make it so!!!!!!

Do something” Made-In-Canada vaccine CEO pleads for federal government to respond.

I agree. The government of Canada should be jumping on this and fast. Why don’t they? Simple … they don’t want to hurt other manufactures feelings. I say to heck with those manufactures that aren’t supplying us … as they said they would, and get to making our own. Makes me shake my head knowing, that Canada is being put on the back burner so to speak and doing nothing about it. I am beginning to believe it is all about money, and one person that doesn’t like being told what to do. Who would that one person be? Hmm … Everyone should know that by now.

Morning Chat Feb. 6/2021

Good Morning! Well we all woke up to one heck of a pile of snow here in Port Loring, Ontario Canada. Yesterday we had around a foot and overnight about the same. Walking out to the woodworking shop, it was up to my knees and took me fifteen minutes to clean a small path. And more is coming down. Other than being so much, it is sure pretty out there. Temperatures have cooled down some sitting at -8.7 C | 16.34 F. We will see more snow for most of the day, through the night, and into tomorrow, along with a few flurries on Monday. Tuesday it should all come to an end with a bit of sunshine thrown in for good measure. It’s the most snow we have had all winter. The good news is, it isn’t too heavy, but being so much of it, it will be a chore to get cleaned up. I do have Kerry a friend who is cleaning the driveway part this year, so that will help a lot. I am thinking I am going to have to rake off some snow from our car port as it has around 4 feet up there. The house isn’t much better. I will see what I can do. Troubles arise as the pulling hurts my chest and stomach, but in moderation I should be able to get it done. Highway 522 is snow covered as to be expected this morning, and no one should be travelling in this weather. With that I am off for my breakfast and will then see what the day has in store, other than moving some snow. Take care and stay safe. The virus is getting worse, not better as some of the Powers that be says it is. I don’t believe them for a minute. And this thing about opening things back up is pure ludicrous. But it’s what they do. People pleasing. Not what’s good for the country or the people.
