Noah’s Ark

Now don’t get me wrong here I am not a religious person by no means and always will be that way but this article my Sister Barb sent me was pretty well right on the money and …well, worth the read.   Take a look.  Thanks Sis, good one

Noah in Modern Times

Here’s a funny modern day take on Noah’s Ark. It’s just for a laugh, so please don’t take it too seriously 🙂
And the Lord spoke to Noah & said: “In six months I’m going to make it rain until the whole earth is covered with water & all the evil people are destroyed. But I want to save a few good people, and two of every kind of living thing on the planet. I am ordering you to build Me an Ark.”
And in a flash of lightning he delivered the specifications for the Ark.
“OK,” said Noah, trembling in fear and fumbling with the blueprints.
“Six months, and it starts to rain, “thundered the Lord. “You’d better have my Ark completed, or learn how to swim for a very long time.”
And six months passed. The skies began to cloud up and rain began to fall. The Lord saw that Noah was sitting in his front yard, weeping. And there was no Ark.
“Noah,” shouted the Lord, “where is my Ark?” A lighting bolt crashed to the ground next to Noah.
“Lord, please forgive me!” begged Noah. “I did my best. But there were big problems.
First I had to get a building permit for the Ark construction project, and your plans didn’t meet code. So I had to hire an engineer to redraw the plans.
Then I got into a big fight over whether or not the Ark needed a fire sprinkler system.
My neighbors objected, claiming I was violating zoning by building the Ark in my front yard, so I had to get a variance from the city planning commission.
Then I had a big problem getting enough wood for the Ark because there was a ban on cutting trees to save the Spotted Owl. I had to convince U.S.Fish and Wildlife that I needed wood to save the owls. But they wouldn’t let me catch any owls. So no owls.
Then the carpenters formed a union and went out on strike. I had to negotiate a settlement with the National Labor Relations Board before anyone would pick up a saw or hammer. Now we have 16 carpenters going on the boat and still no owls.
Then I started gathering up animals, and got sued by animal rights group. They objected to me taking only two of each kind.
Just when I got the suit dismissed, EPA notified me that I couldn’t complete the Ark without filing an environmental impact statement on your proposed flood. They didn’t take kindly to the idea that they had no jurisdiction over the conduct of a Supreme Being.
Then the Army Corps of Engineers wanted a map of the proposed new flood plain. I sent them a globe.
Right now I’m still trying to resolve a complaint from the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission over how many Croatians I’m supposed to hire, the IRS has seized all my assets claiming I’m trying to avoid paying taxes by leaving the country, and I just got a notice from the state about owing some kind of use tax.
I really don’t think I can finish your Ark for at least another five years,” Noah wailed.
The sky began to clear. The sun began to shine. A rainbow arched across the sky.
Noah looked up and smiled. “You mean you’re not going to destroy the earth?” Noah asked, hopefully.
“No,” said the Lord sadly, “The government already has.”

Gout or Arthritis Problems Buy Some Cherries

For those that have Gout or Arthritis here is one simple old time remedy that works.  I bet the big drug companies wish they had invented cherries — they’ve proven to be the most powerful medicine in the world for eliminating gout and reducing the pain and inflammation of arthritis. Cherries are so powerful that the  the FDA in the USA went out of its way to try to muzzle cherry growers, preventing them from linking to scientific studies that cherries can cure Gout or Arthritis.  Six Cherries A Day My Friends that’s all she takes.

News For Port Loring

I did hear in the news though that the Long Horned Beetle is heading our way and its main target is the Maple Trees.    The beetles have already been found in several areas of the GTA and quarantine zones have been set up for the destruction of any infested broad-leafed trees, beetles “loose and heading north” from New York state could start chewing through maples here within 10 years they say. They also target  the birch, elm, poplar and willow. I would think it will be sooner than later that they arrive here in the north.  Once they are here it is about impossible to stop them.  Especially using commercial pesticides.  The only way to stop them is promoting, not destroying the predators, which will happen if they use the pesticides of today. There are many natural enemies of longhorned beetles in North America, including predators, parasitoids, and pathogens. Predators include a number of beetles, in some rather obscure groups such as the flat bark beetles, the cylindrical bark beetles, clerid beetles and click beetles; a few flies, including robber flies; assassin and ambush bugs; thrips; and carpenter ants. In addition, a number of vertebrates, including birds, lizards, spiders, scorpions, toads, and small mammals, are recorded predators of longhorned beetles. Parasitoids include wasps in various families including braconids, ichneumonids, and numerous chalcids; and tachinid and sarcophagid flies. Nematodes and fungi have been reported as infecting larvae.   What will they do? Most likely cover our forests here in the north with Pesticides with such magnitude it will destroy every insect, predators included.  Not to say what it will do to us humans. Only way to stop this is to stop all spraying of of our forests here in the north and voice your opinion when ever and where ever you can, especially your MP.  Have a great day my friends.

News For Port Loring & District

Quiet, cars and trucks are not even moving here this morning.  Nice day for a walk though as we did have a few flakes of snow over night so it covered up any icy spots that one might slip on.  Thinking my wife and I might just go later on and take in old Mother Nature.  The last walk we were on we seen a nice Buck feeding on some lower cedar branches and a few grouse.  Then on the way back in some thick underbrush I spotted a couple rabbits all huddled up together.  Won’t see that sitting in the house.  Have a great day my friends and be happy, it’s all that really matters in life.

New Years Resolutions

You know. There is a lot of folks out there this time of year making them New Years Resolutions.  I gave them some though myself, but came across this fellow in the paper this morning that pretty well said my exact feelings on the subject. So…..since I agree I will just let things alone for another year.   Take a look. Click Picture Below To Enlarge.

News, Weather & Fishing Times For Port Loring Ontario

So how you all doing this morning? Good I hope.  Back to work for most and such it should be if one wants to make ends meat.  Daytime temperature is going to reach 35 °f through out the day then drop to 26 °f later on tonight so not a bad day.  Barometer is falling slowly sitting at 29.08 in Hg.  Winds are from the South West and coming in at around 5 MPH.  The moon will rise today 5:41 PM & set at 7:55 AM.  It will be overhead: at 12:20 AM & underfoot at 12:46 PM.  Moon Phase today is Solunar Table Moon Phase is 100% percent full moon 100% FULL.   The old weather stick now back in action says the best time to be out there ice fishing will be from 12:46 PM – 2:46 PM.  Second best times will be from 5:41 PM – 6:41 PM.  Out of a five star rating I give it a four so can’t beat that my friends.

News For Port Loring

Quiet here in our small community.  Woke up this morning to about six inches of the white stuff so cleaning the driveway will be on our addenda for today.  I do have a snow blower but for the past two years now I have decided on cleaning it by hand, if it isn’t to heavy.  To do that I have got myself into a rigorous exercise  program every day before supper and I have to say that I feel a hundred times better.  One has to ease her or his way into these things but the benefits are rewarding to no end.  Thing is folks, the old body is like anything else, if you don’t use it you loose it.  Also proper eating habits thrown in with the exercise will help you even more. I believe that over 75% of our aches and pains and sickness can be over come by changing ones life style using nature as ones guide.  Also remember, don’t let your age stand in the way neither.  Most folks today I figure just use that as an excuse.  Old bones can be made stronger, joints can be made better and muscles can be gotten back, it’s all up to you not the doctors.  Have a great day my friends and be happy, that is all that really matters in life.  Anything else,  is trickery to change your thinking, don’t be fooled.

Port Loring’s Fishing Times, News & Weather

Good morning.  Bit cooler here this morning.  Woke up to temperatures of 9 degrees.  Daytime temperature is going to reach 25 °f and then drop to 7 °f at night.  Still not bad considering the time of year.  Barometer is rising and at the moment its sitting at 29.41 in Hg.  Wind are calm coming in from the North East.  The moon will Rise today at 4:33 PM & will  set at 7:16 AM. It will be overhead at 12:00 AM & underfoot at 11:54 AM11:01 AM.  Moon Phase today is Solunar Table Moon Phase is 100% percent waxing gibbous 100% Waxing Gibbous. The sun showed herself this morning at  7:59 AM & she will set  at 4:51 PM, giving us 8 hrs. 52 mins. of daylight.  Not to bad and gaining instead of burning daylight as each day goes by.  Makes me smile.  Well…. I have had folks calling asking for the best ice fishing times,so guess some of the lakes must be froze over.  So sat down with some data and along with the old weather stick  put together what I feel is the time to be out there.  Today the best time would be from 11:01 AM – 1:01 PM.  The second best times would be from 3:32 PM – 4:32 PM.  Out of say a five star day I give it a four star rating about the best you can get.  Can’t beat that, so no reason for fish not being fried up with a touch of butter tonight comes supper time.

News For Port Loring

Nothing much to report here today, folks are off once again to their favorite church or ?  My wife and I are sitting back enjoying a nice warm cup of Salada tea.  We call it talk-a-tea as we do get into some chattin’ now and then.  Been that way every morning now for over forty years and don’t suspect it to change anytime soon.  In closing, a great man said this one time and if one takes a serious look at the way our country is being run this quote should  open your eyes.  I have always said that being silent is our downfall.   Seems to be a trend these days for most. Take a look.  Our lives begin to end the day we become silent about things that matter.- Martin Luther King

The Truth Is Out There

When it comes to Government and taxes I have to say, I feel the same way as this fellow that wrote this quote below.  No truer words were ever spoken.  But you know, over three quarters of the population here in Canada today, believe taxes are good for us.   Amazing in itself.

I contend that for a nation to try to tax itself into prosperity is like a man standing in a bucket and trying to lift himself up by the handle.
-Winston Churchill

Proper English, Don’t You Believe It

You know for years being a writer I have been told that proper English is what matters when writing a story.  Thing is folks, that just isn’t so and to prove my point take a look at this and see if you can read it.  If you can read this below it goes to show you that the mind doesn’t really care whether you use proper English or not.

News For Port Loring  Nothing much to report.  Did go to town yesterday to pick up a few things and have to say we enjoyed the trip.  Nice thing now since Highway 522 is all fixed up it is a pleasure to drive on it.  Think it cost me $1000.00 in car repairs though, from all the rough spots in and on the old road over the past four or so years of driving.  At any rate one has to expect them things living so far off the beaten track. On another note amazing how warm it has been this winter so far.  Here we are heading to the second week in January and temperatures above freezing.  For myself it couldn’t be any better, weather wise, saves on the heating bills along with makes it enjoyable to be outside.  For the snow mobiles I suspect they aren’t the happiest or the ice fishing folks, but not much one can do.  Mother Nature has a plan in store for us and no matter how hard  the Powers That Be  try to change things, spending billions,  in reality their isn’t anything that can be done.  What will be will be my friends, enjoy each day as it is brought forth,  I know my wife and I sure do.  Have a great day.

Lots of folks turned up at the meeting pertaining to the credit union last night, which was held at the Legion here in town.  Most talk relating to elections and seems lots has to be thrashed out before things get settled.  But, hey……. par for the course in small towns.  Around town things are quiet, the busiest store being the grocery store.  I have to say for a small community we do have a great General Store,   In fact I would have to say for its size they have more items to choose from than some of the large stores in the city.  Prices are fair also and the folks that work there usually always greets the customers with a smile.  The owners bend over back wards in seeing your looked after and that the shelves are stocked full. Not to forget that no matter how busy they are when I walk in they always take the time to have a chat. Hard to find that anymore let me tell ya.  Have a great day my friends.
