IN The News. Cancer

Clinical breast exams are no longer routinely recommended for women at average risk of breast cancer, according to new Canadian guidelines.  Remember though that it doesn’t just stop here with Breast Cancer there is many many more on the list that should be stopped.

So there you go.  For years now I have always said that these tests and things that they are subjecting folks to are not good, if anything they are contributing to the cause, not the cure.  Same as biopsies, all they are dong will be proven one day, that it causes trouble not prevent it.  Today folks think that all these tests that are being done is a great thing, when in turn it is the cause of most of our troubles. Same as most of the medicine we take today.  No one and I say no one really understands what the long term effects have from taking these drugs.  I would bet that over seventy five percent of the folks today could fix their own problems, by just using common sense, along with a bit of research.  There is alternatives out there folks believe me.  One has to learn to take back the reigns and look after yourself and don’t rely on others to do it for ya.  My Opinion Only.

Port Loring’s Weather & Hunting Times Monday, November 21 2011

Good morning.  Well nice sunny morning.  Temperature is going to reach 31 °f today then dip to 20 °f later on tonight.  Folks in an about Port Loring are burning wood now.  Nothing like wood heat though let me tell ya.  Also a lot more healthier for ya too.  Especially with the old gravity fed furnaces.  Nothing comes from them but heat.  Barometer is rising as I type, sitting at the moment at 29:53 in Hg.  Winds are from the  North East which explains the cool temperature.  Wind is calm this morning, hardly a whisper.   Well deer season is over this morning for those that like to hunt with guns.  I hope everyone got meat for the freezer.  Myself I didn’t get one myself but not because it wasn’t possible.  Just that I had so many different engagements going on this year and I just didn’t get out there as much as I would have liked to. Next year I will keep my schedule clear, nothing but hunting.  Near the end of the season I bought a new scope for my rifle too and didn’t get a chance to use it.  So guess will have to wait till next year.  For those that are into Bow hunting though the old weather stick says the best times to be out there today will be from 2:12 PM – 3:12 PM.  The moon will Rise: 2:51 AM & Set: 2:12 PM. Last day for hunting up here in Port Loring using rifles that is. Bow season still continues on for a few weeks if your into that.  My self I am a rifle man and usually after two weeks I have had my fill.  This year though I didn’t get out as much as I would have liked as wife, my youngest son all went to visit out oldest son in St Catharine’s for a few days.  Next year will have to make sure nothing is booked for them two weeks.

On another note our book signing at Gulliver’s yesterday ended being a great day.  We had folks waiting for us when we came in and a steady stream after that. Got to meet a lot of my readers and would like to say thanks to all those that attended.  Means a lot to my wife and I.  Lot of books were signed let me tell ya.  So again.  Thanks to all those that took the time to make it a great day.  Also thanks goes out to Gulliver’s for making it a great day.  Great folks and if your in the need for some great gifts along with books this coming Christmas, this is the store for you.  The store is loaded with quality gifts and it is a place that you should really take the time to stop in and browse.  You will be surprised I guarantee you that.

Well here is a picture of what is to come. My lovely sister Barb, who lives in  Saskatchewan sent it to us this morning to what she woke up to.  Notice the young kitten on the window ledge. Barb took the little kitten in on its last legs, nursed it back to health. It’s name is Lego.  Cute little feller that’s for sure.  The other ones name is Lucky Boots.  Seems they both are trying to figure out what that white stuff is.  Have a great day.

News Here In Port Loring Friday, November 18 2011

Again quiet around town.  With these cooler temperatures folks are sleeping in a touch.  Which I can’t rightly blame them.  Them warm covers makes it pretty hard to even think of getting out iof bed  This morning i got the old shop stove perkin’ away to warm it up a touch. Yesterday got my wood all cut for my flutes and today will plane them down to size and get them ready to use.  I enjoy these days in the shop, gives me some quiet time of a different sort.  While working, one reflects back on the just past summer and for most parts my mind is  already thinking of what next year might bring.  Nice to be able to do what one wants in life.  You know, there is no reason why any one can’t do just that neither, as it is all up to him or her on how they live their life.  Some want lots of money, some want fame, but for a very few of us that has worked hard all their life, not asking for anything other than food for the table, which for most parts we grow our own , good health and a warm place to hang his or her hat, well……living a simple life is all that we ask.  What is living a simple life?  Well, doing what we want, when we want and how we want. Not relying on others, being self efficient, having a few good friends to chat to and if one wants to stop for a coffee or tea he or she does just that, no matter what time of day.  Here in Port Loring one is able to do that my friends, surrounded by nature, fresh air and more in things to do than one could ever imagine, that is if one lets Mother Nature into ones life. It’s all up to you.  So guess that is it for today, going to go and have a nice cup of tea with my lovely wife, and, well…..let the day take me to where it so chooses.  Have a great day my friends and will CYA all back here tomorrow morning.

Well things are quiet.   Just that time of year folks.  Resorts are closed or closing up for the season.  Others are out hunting.  And quite a few that I know are headin’ south to warmer temperatures.  Can’t say I blame them neither, as at the moment the roads are clear of snow and once across the boarder heading into the good old USA, every mile gets warmer, that is if your pointing south.  For a good number of years my wife and I headed on down, leaving every year the second week in November.  Had a cottage in Sarasota Florida, nice spot, close to everything including some great fishing spots.  Hooked on many a big reds down there and sheep heads.  Can’t say I tasted any better other than our Walleye up here in Port Loring.  Large mouth bass is pretty tasty too though, along with our medium size pike.     Had some good times down there and look forward in going down again.  Well you all have a great day, stay safe and will say hello right here tomorrow morning.

Not much happening again today. Did walk down to visit Darrell at the garage here in town for a bit. I have always figured a bit of chattin’ is good for ones soul. Especially with friends. Picked up a jug of Mike’s Maple Syrup while there and will pour a bit of it over some of my lovely wife’s pancakes here this morning.   Pretty hard to beat his syrup for taste let me tell ya. Not to forget how good it is for ya.  He has it there at the garage for sale if interested.  Guess that’s it, so you all have a great day, stay safe and get some sunshine.  My wife and I did just that yesterday, did some front porch sittin’ and enjoyed two cups of perked coffee soaking in the sun.  Talk to you all tomorrow morning.

News For Port Loring Tuesday, November 15 2011

Well not to much is happening in an around town. Most folks are in the bush with families, hunting and enjoying life. Myself I have some cleaning to do in my shop so It will be ready to start making my flutes and things. One thing I hate is a shop with things laying all over the place and at the moment that is the way it is. So get myself out there in a bit and straighten things up. Visiting our son in the big city did give me a chance to pick up some shop items, like sandpaper for my machines and different items that one can’t buy around here. I got to go to through that Costco store they got down there and I have to say they sure have a pile of stuff and at good prices too. Only thing I don’t like about it is they make you pay so much a year to shop there. But works out good, as my son is a member so I can go in with him. One also can order on line I see too.

My wife and I did have a good time, living so far apart I don’t get to see my Son Craig, Daughter in law and Grandson that often.  So when we do my wife and I try and make the most of it.  Was a good trip down and back also, old car perked right along thanks to Kerry here in town, as he is the feller that keeps it running.  Well had better go, got a nice hot tea here waiting for me.  Every morning my wife has a tea together and do some chattin’  We call it talk a tea.   LOL  Then later on if weather permits we do some front porch sittin’ with a nice cup of perked organic coffee.  One last item, don’t forget that my wife and I  are having a book signing at Gulliver’s in North Bay this coming Saturday, November 19 from 1:00 PM till 3:00 PM, hope to see you all there.  Have a great day my friends, stay safe if out hunting, get some sunshine which we all need so badly and cya all back here again tomorrow morning.
