Good morning. Well somewhat cloudy this morning. But things will improve. Forecast for today is calling for it to be…Changeable, mending as the day progresses. Temperatures this morning here in Port Loring are sitting at 12.7 C | 54.86 F. Will warm up to near 21 C / 69.8 F later on. On the bug report, well same as yesterday but a touch worse. Black flies are out in full force enjoying a meal or so on us humans and critters. I was outside all day yesterday putting in my garden. I didn’t get bit by any but they sure were annoying in ones eyes, nose, throat, ears, up ones pant legs and neck and around my old hat. For me they are just a pest. For some I know they feast on them. One thing you could do if you do happen to get bit is to take a piece of plantain, grows everywhere in our area. Make sure it is a touch clean and chew a piece. Then put it on the bite. You will find that this helps immensely with the itch. Also will ward off those infections that some folks are inclined to get. I also added its full affects to my upcoming health book along with hundreds of other items dealing with health and nature as a cure. On another note for those wanting to do some fishing today the old weather stick is saying that the best time to be out there will be from….10:30 AM – 1:30 PM. I give it a 3 fish rating out of 4 for catching them. So not to bad of a day for fishing other than the Black Flies. Mosquitoes aren’t out yet and hoping that the cold weather we had reduced their quantities some this year. But have to wait and see. Nature has a way of looking after her own sometimes. Enjoy your day my friends.

Good morning. Well a bit cloudy here in Port Loring this morning. A touch cool with temperatures sitting at…12.9 C | 55.22 F but will warm up admirably as the day progresses. I did light the wood furnace this morning to take the dampness out of the basement and the house in itself. Also got my shop warming up, so some work that I have planned can be done comfortably. Seems these days the insides of buildings is colder than the outside. Forecast for today is calling for it to be much like it was yesterday…Stormy, much rain. Bug report…well the Black Flies are out in full force to say the least. Not biting me as of yet but others I talked to are complaining somewhat. I have found what you are wearing pertaining to perfume, make up, hair spray things like that will draw them to an individual quite rapidly. Also what you eat is another item that one should be watching. One should be eating lots of vegetables more so than meat of any kind. Kind of easy to figure out if one takes a close look at things. Vegetables are nature. Nature is where Black Flies live. They don’t harm nature for most parts, so if we become nature we are left alone. Has worked for my wife and I for a good number of years. In another note. For those wanting to do some fishing the old weather stick is saying that the best time to be out there will be from…9:00 AM – 1:00 PM. If it starts to rain might as well put the poles away for the day. I give it a 4 fish rating out of 4 for catching them though.. Enjoy your day my friends. GW
Death of The Honey Bees
The answer is simple really. With all the pesticides that folks are using, it’s a wonder we have any insects alive to go about their jobs in nature. Not to forget what it is doing to us humans with sickness and changing our human structure as a whole. I have had many folks coming to me saying I am wrong in essence, but in reality I tell them what part of poison do you not understand. No poison what’s so ever is good for us humans, insects, animals or plants or environment. There are better solutions out there but most choose not to use them. They like the easier softer way. But in saying that I do see a major change happening with our new generation. They can not be fooled, as the older generation has been, they are well informed through the internet of today, along with having capabilities beyond imagination. They stand up for what is right and not afraid to do so. Good for them as it’s been a long time coming. They are the protectors of the new world.

Good morning. Well not so bad of a morning. Temperatures are sitting at.. 11.9 C | 53.42. F. Forecast for today is saying it is going to be. Stormy, much rain as the day marches on. So we will see. Some sunshine is showing itself as I type but clouds are moving in. Looks like some showers for the next couple days. On the good side though it is warming up and temperatures will be up near 70 F / 20 C all week. So summer weather will be upon us. Great news for those wanting to open up the cottages this weekend. My wife and I like to think of this coming weekend as the long weekend. I kind of figure the Powers That Be can make the dates of the holiday weekends, but it doesn’t mean i have to abide by them. In reality it is up to each individual which road they choose to follow. One should never be dictated to on what and when to do things. My opinion only of course. For them pesky Black Flies, well they made their appearance yesterday. Not to bad, yet… but they are there with their annoying presence. Once the dragon flies makes their appearance things will change in that department, as they clean them up quite quickly. One of humans best friends. For those wanting to do some fishing today the best time to be out there will be from 8:30 AM till 11:00 AM. I give it a 4 fish rating out of 4 for catching them today. Best to get out there before the rain moves in and good luck. Enjoy your day my friends. GW

Good morning. Well a bit cloudy this morning with temperatures sitting at 10.4 C | 50.72 F. Not too bad. Forecast for Port Loring is calling for it to be Showery early, improving as the day moves forward. Black flies are just starting but still quite good considering the time of year. Been so cool and wet holding things back a bit.
On another note we had a friend drop by yesterday, letting us know we have another celebrity here in Port Loring. She is registered as, Havenwoods Daisy Mare. She is owned by one of our very own here in Port Loring…Carrie Rodgers. Carrie and her husband Rob moved to our small community full time last year. I have to tell you these folks have done wonders to the piece of property they bought on the corner of Duck Lake Road. Great folks for sure and my wife and I are happy to have them as friends. As it states in the magazine, Rhythm is a gorgeous Rocky Mountain Horse, and that she is. We are privileged to have her as well as their owners living within our presence. Wi-Fi Services In Our Canadian Parks
I see in the news today that Wi-Fi will be added to our Canadian Parks agenda and formats. For all the information click the following link http://time.com/80472/canada-wifi-national-parks/ Will this be a good thing? Some will say it is, for myself I am against Wi-Fi services, as I believe they are not good for ones health, or for that matter, the health of nature in itself. Like other things that goes on in our country and others, these things are just done without considering what it does to our body or our environment.. My Opinion only. GW

In The News Today
In the news today they are saying that generations of schoolboys have long suspected: that eating your greens might be good for you, but it does not make you happy. Well of course a cookie is looking much tastier but one should be taking their health into consideration too. I don’t know where they come up with these things, well I do as most are just striving for attention. They say happiness is the way to good health and yes it is right in part, but without good nutrition you can be as happy as all get out, and your body will still, eventually shut down and become sick. So don’t listen to what is being said by others, listen to what your body is telling you and you will enjoy life to the fullest. If you choose the other way listening to others, well….you can laugh your way into an early grave. My Opinion Only
Stores Closing In Part
Here is a bit of interesting information. Relating to stores that are closing in part. Pretty amazing really but understandable. Take a look.
Staples, Radio Shack, Albertsons, Abercrombie & Fitch, Barnes & Noble, J.C. Penney, Toys “R” Us, Sweetbay Supermarket, Loehmann’s, Sears, Quiznos, Sbarro. Other retailers in trouble include Ruby Tuesday’s, Red Lobster (which could be spun off into another brand altogether) and Ralphs, a subsidiary of food seller Kroger.

Really Good Article had sent to me thought I would share. Touch long but worth the read.

District Representative and Water Management Division.
Here is the actual response sent back by Mr. DeVries:
Re: DEQ File
No.. 97-59-0023; T11N; R10W, Sec. 20; Lycoming County
Dear Mr. Price,
Your certified letter dated 11/17/12 has been handed to me. I am the legal landowner but not the Contractor at 2088 Dagget Lane , Trout Run, Pennsylvania .
A couple of beavers are in the process of constructing and maintaining two wood ‘debris’ dams across the outlet stream of my Spring Pond. While I did not pay for, authorize, nor supervise their dam project, I think they would be highly offended that you call their skillful use of natures building materials ‘debris.’
I would like to challenge your department to attempt to emulate their dam project any time and/or any place you choose. I believe I can safely state there is no way you could ever match their dam skills, their dam resourcefulness, their dam ingenuity, their dam persistence, their dam determination and/or their dam work ethic.
These are the beavers/contractors you are seeking. As to your request, I do not think the beavers are aware that they must first fill out a dam permit prior to the start of this type of dam activity.
My first dam question to you is:
(1) Are you trying to discriminate against my Spring Pond Beavers, or
(2) Do you require all beavers throughout this State to conform to said dam request?
If you are not discriminating against these particular beavers, through the Freedom of Information Act, I request completed copies of all those other applicable beaver dam permits that have been issued. (Perhaps we will see if there really is a dam violation of Part 301, Inland Lakes and Streams, of the Natural Resource and Environmental Protection Act, Act 451 of the Public Acts of 1994, being sections 324.30101 to 324.30113 of the Pennsylvania Compiled Laws, annotated.)
I have several dam concerns. My first dam concern is, aren’t the beavers entitled to legal representation? The Spring Pond Beavers are financially destitute and are unable to pay for said representation — so the State will have to provide them with a dam lawyer.
The Department’s dam concern that either one or both of the dams failed during a recent rain event, causing flooding, is proof that this is a natural occurrence, which the Department is required to protect. In other words, we should leave the Spring Pond Beavers alone rather than harassing them and calling them dam names.
If you want the damed stream ‘restored’ to a dam free-flow condition please contact the beavers — but if you are going to arrest them, they obviously did not pay any attention to your dam letter, they being unable to read English.
In my humble opinion, the Spring Pond Beavers have a right to build their unauthorized dams as long as the sky is blue, the grass is green and water flows downstream. They have more dam rights than I do to live and enjoy Spring Pond. If the Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Protection lives up to its name, it should protect the natural resources (Beavers) and the environment (Beavers’ Dams).
So, as far as the beavers and I are concerned, this dam case can be referred for more elevated enforcement action right now. Why wait until 1/31/2013? The Spring Pond Beavers may be under the dam ice by then and there will be no way for you or your dam staff to contact/harass them.
In conclusion, I would like to bring to your attention to a real environmental quality, health, problem in the area It is the bears! Bears are actually defecating in our woods. I definitely believe you should be persecuting the defecating bears and leave the beavers alone. If you are going to investigate the beaver dam, watch your dam step! The bears are not careful where they dump!
Being unable to comply with your dam request, and being unable to contact you on your dam answering machine, I am sending this response to your dam office.
THANK YOU,
RYAN & THE DAM BEAVERS
GMO…What You Can Do To Stop It
Hi Everyone,
Environment Canada has recently given AquaBounty, an American company, permission to produce genetically-modified salmon eggs on a commercial scale. Now, there is only one step left before mutant fish hits our dinner plates — approval from Health Canada to allow GMO salmon for Canadian consumption.
If Health Canada approves GMO salmon, a new breed of farmed fish will soon be at your local grocer or seafood restaurant without you even recognizing it. Let’s tell Health Canada to reject mutant fish for human consumption in our country.
You can tell Health Canada that we don’t want GMO fish in our stores and restaurants here: http://action.sumofus.org/a/gmo-salmon-health-canada-rejection-franken-fish/?sub=mtl
Between allowing GMO salmon and the licensing of Norwegian fish farms on the BC coast, our government seems to be doing everything it can to destroy one of our great resources – wild salmon.
Please sign this petition to try to prevent the sale of GMO salmon in Canada.
In The News Today
Another item that gets me going, one of many these days it seems, is what is reported in the news here in Canada, or the USA for that matter. When one opens a paper today or searches on the Net relating to news what do they see? What they see is what is happening in other countries other than ours. Oh a few things pop up now and then like our weather, or some things on politics, but hardly ever do we see what is happening right here in our own country. For myself I couldn’t care less what is happening in other countries and if truth be known I believe we should stay out of others affairs and let them fend for themselves. All this help to other countries in my eyes doesn’t really help, it makes things worse as the more we do the more they become dependant on others instead of themselves. Like us here in this country, soon as one gets the sniffles today they run out and get the flu shot or see a doctor not realizing for one minute that they could treat themselves quite easily. Folks don’t seem to realize that no doctor in the world knows your body better than you do. Not only do we let others sway our minds with our health we also do it with thousand of other things. What a shame. I know…I guess it is easier to let others do things for you but……it isn’t what is good for you let me tell ya. Have a good day, and as usual, my opinion only. GW
Happenings in and Around Port Loring
Good Morning. Well looks like we got some weather warnings up for Port Loring & District. Lots of snow is in the forecast with some pretty high winds coming in later on in the day. Forecast: Snow, very unsettled. For all your weather information click here…http://www.loringlsb.ca/weather-station/
For those wanting to do some ice fishing today, the old weather stick says the best time to be out there will be from…10:00 AM – 12:00 PM. Then again a bit later from…3:30 PM – 5:30 PM.
News For Port Loring
Highway 522 is snow covered with icy sections with some drifts blowing in here and there. Care should be taken for sure if out and about. Myself thinking it is a good day to stay in where it is warm and relax until the storm is over. Suppose to clear up later on this afternoon or into tonight. So, have to see.
On another note I am looking for a good Excalibur Crossbow if one has for a reasonable price. Thinking I might just give it a try next hunting season. A new one costs around 545.00 at Bass Pro Shop, so if something doesn’t come along I guess I will go for a drive. Lots of time yet though so will wait for a bit to see what is out there. If you have one that you are selling or know of one let me know at [email protected]. Enjoy your day my friends. GW
Flu Shots
Well another year is upon us that the Powers To Be are out there promoting and pushing these Flu shots on folks. First off as most of you know, I don’t believe in them. All the hype that has been put out to folks getting them to take this shot as far as I am concerned isn’t worth a grain of salt. The day is coming I believe that a lot of folks will pay dearly. In saying this I hope I am wrong, but I don’t think so. The best defence against the cold and flu is to stay warm, eat right,, fresh air, don’t touch your hands anywhere near your face and wash your hands for two minutes when arriving home from being out in public. Also one can take some extra precautions by taking a good brand of vitamin D 3. I have done this for over forty years and have never caught the Flu. Colds is hard to eliminate though as most folks never stay home till they are well. Seems folks today just don’t care any-more, other than for themselves. Harsh point but the truth. Enjoy your day my friends.
Antibacterial Soaps & Things
Well been awhile since my last post. Not that there is anything wrong, just been busy with other things. Today in the news they now are saying something that I have been trying to tell folks for years. If anything it causes more problems than it fixes. In saying this I am afraid it has already done a great deal of harm to us humans. Take a look at the article.
After more than 40 years of study, the U.S. government said Monday it has no evidence that the antibacterial chemicals used in countless common soaps and washes help prevent the spread of germs, and it is reviewing research suggesting they may pose health risks.
The best thing one can do to prevent colds and flu’s is wash your hands using a good natural soap, don’t touch your eyes, ears or mouth when out in public, eat right and stay warm. Never I an I say never let yourself get cold. Head especially along with your throat and feet. Do this and you will stay relatively healthy through out the winter months, when there is no sun to protect us. For your counter tops when cooking use straight vinegar. Nothing on this planet is any better. Enjoy your day. GW
Great Write Up
Pretty Good Article
Wish I’d thought of this!
Elder Banking… !
Shown below, is an actual letter that was sent to a bank by an 86
year old woman.
The bank manager thought it amusing enough to have it published in
the New York Times.
————————————————————————–
Dear Sir:
I am writing to thank you for bouncing my check with which
I endeavoured to pay my plumber last month.
By my calculations, three nanoseconds must have elapsed
between his presenting the check and the arrival in my account of the
funds needed to honour it..
I refer, of course, to the automatic monthly deposit of my
entire pension, an arrangement which, I admit, has been in place for
only eight years.
You are to be commended for seizing that brief window of
opportunity, and also for debiting my account $30 by way of penalty
for the inconvenience caused to your bank.
My thankfulness springs from the manner in which this
incident has caused me to rethink my errant financial ways. I noticed
that whereas I personally answer your telephone calls and letters,
— when I try to contact you, I am confronted by the impersonal,
overcharging, pre-recorded, faceless entity which your bank has
become.
From now on, I, like you, choose only to deal with a
flesh-and-blood person.
My mortgage and loan repayments will therefore and
hereafter no longer be automatic, but will arrive at your bank, by
check, addressed personally and confidentially to an employee at your
bank whom you must nominate.
Be aware that it is an OFFENCE under the Postal Act for any
other person to open such an envelope.
Please find attached an Application Contact which I require
your chosen employee to complete.
I am sorry it runs to eight pages, but in order that I know
as much about him or her as your bank knows about me, there is no
alternative.
Please note that all copies of his or her medical history
must be countersigned by a Notary Public, and the mandatory details
of his/her financial situation (income, debts, assets and
liabilities) must be accompanied by documented proof.
In due course, at MY convenience, I will issue your
employee with a PIN number which he/she must quote in dealings with
me.
I regret that it cannot be shorter than 28 digits but,
again, I have modelled it on the number of button presses required of
me to access my account balance on your phone bank service.
As they say, imitation is the sincerest form of flattery.
Let me level the playing field even further.
When you call me, press buttons as follows:
IMMEDIATELY AFTER DIALING, PRESS THE STAR (*) BUTTON FOR ENGLISH
#1. To make an appointment to see me
#2. To query a missing payment.
#3. To transfer the call to my living room in case I am there.
#4 To transfer the call to my bedroom in case I am sleeping.
#5. To transfer the call to my toilet in case I am
attending to nature.
#6. To transfer the call to my mobile phone if I am not at home.
#7. To leave a message on my computer, a password to access
my computer is required.
Password will be communicated to you at a later date to
that Authorized Contact mentioned earlier.
#8. To return to the main menu and to listen to options 1 through 10
#9. To make a general complaint or inquiry.
The contact will then be put on hold, pending the attention
of my automated answering service.
#10. This is a second reminder to press* for English.
While this may, on occasion, involve a lengthy wait,
uplifting music will play for the duration of the call.
Regrettably, but again following your example, I must also
levy an establishment fee to cover the setting up of this new
arrangement.
May I wish you a happy, if ever so slightly less
prosperous, New Year?
Your Humble Client

Interesting article. Take A Look
Bill #C-428 [THANKS TO RUBY DHALLA AND BOB RAE]
Only if you disagree with this Bill … Pass this message along.
This bill should not have seen the light of day … And yet it will receive second reading at the next sitting of parliament.
Please read the bill and make your own decision. If you disagree with the bill send this to everyone over the age of 50 in your address book … Or those who may be turning 50 in a few years.
Hopefully by letting your member of parliament know your feelings on the bill it will be defeated.
If you agree with the bill you don’t need to do anything..
Bill C-428 will allow recent immigrants to apply for OAS in 3 years instead of the existing 10.
This bill had first reading in the house on June 18, 2009. It was seconded by Bob Rae! MP Ms Ruby Dhalla who introduced the bill represents the riding of Brampton whose population is mainly East Indian (i.e., Muslim). Right now you have to have lived in Canada for 10 years in order to qualify for Old Age Security. She wants the time reduced to 3 years. Thousands could come to Canada when they are 62 years old never having worked or contributed to this country’s tax system etc. and qualify for full Old Age Security benefits. 10 years minimum is reasonable – 3 is not!
Look this up Google C-428 and you will see this bill has only one purpose and that is to ‘featherbed’ a select group of people for votes.
I certainly hope this bill does not get passed. It is about time we called our
elected MP’s to ask them to NOT support this bill. Their response may be one factor in helping us determine who gets elected in the next election.
Keep on reading and then ACT!
What Can You Do?
1. Spread the message to family friends and e-mail buds.
2. Write letters send e-mails to all your list and call Members of Parliament
It is time Canada looked after it’s vets and long-term citizens before tossing OUR hard-earned money around on people who have no right to this money, never having paid taxes or contributed to our economy. If a family wishes to bring elderly relatives here and are willing to waive their own right to collect these funds in order that the elderly relatives can receive them … Fine.
Otherwise do not expect the Canadian taxpayers to do it.
There are too many people abusing the generosity of the Canadian people. We need to stop this NOW. We, our children and our grand children currently owe the global investment community over $500 billion dollars … The sum of our accumulated National Debt that is never publicized.
Now READ THIS…
Canada Pensions… Only in Canada
* It is interesting to know that the federal Government of Canada allows :
a.. A monthly pension of : $1,890.00 to a simple refugee
b. plus: 580.00 in social aid
==========
A grand total of : $2,470.00 monthly
X 12 months
==========
$28,920.00 annual income
By comparison the Old Age Pension of a senior citizen who has contributed to the development of Our Beautiful Big Country during 40 or 50 years CANNOT receive more than :
a. Amount/month $1,012.00 in Old Age Pension and Guaranteed Income Supplement
x 12 months
============
$12,144.00 annual income
A difference of : $16,776.00 per year
* Perhaps our senior citizens should ask for the Status of Refugee
instead of applying for Old Age Pension.
* Let us send this message to as many Canadians as possible and maybe the allowance of refugee could then be reduced to $1,012.00 and that of our Canadian pensioners (who actually deserve it) raised to $2,470.00 per month…the money that they have been paying in income taxes for 40 or 50 years — INCREDIBLE NONSENSE !!!

Quiet as usual around town. Folks are gearing up though for Black Friday, biggest shopping day before Christmas in the USA. Some would like you to believe it hasn’t come to Canada but it doesn’t take much looking around to see that they are wrong and it is here. I for one do most of my shopping when it arrives and have found one can get more deals then than on Boxing Day. But to each their own I always say. Good prices I take advantage of. Have a great day my friends and stay safe if out hunting or anywhere for that matter.

News For Port Loring & District
Quiet around town these days with it being deer hunting season. I have to say I did quite well this year with bringing down a good size ten pointer buck. In actuality it was so nice I had the head done up along with the skin. Always wanted one so now got one for the living room. Some I know it is not their cup of tea, but for us up here in the north for most, it is a part of our normal day living.. I look at this way. I do not hunt for sport, I hunt for the meat and if a really nice one comes along I take it even one step further and instead of discarding the skins and head I have a taxidermist do them up professionally. Nothing goes to waste. So all an all I have had a great year and, yea…it isn’t over yet. I won’t be going back out till the weekend as got some things to do but will try my best to finish the hunt off come Saturday and Sunday with my friends the Booth.s and others. So far this year one Doe and two nice size Bucks. Enjoy your day my friends and stay safe.
