Beef, Chickens, Fish Versus Vegetables

Alright, I was asked and I will write what I feel to be correct.  What I was asked was how come some folks today feel that they will become more healthy if they switch from a meat diet to a veggie diet.  First off I don’t really believe in my mind, through years of experience, that a veggie diet is any better than, say a beef or chicken diet.   What I believe to be true is, that the beef and chickens isn’t the problem, it is what is going into these critters through the food they are fed.  That being said, is the problem.  Years ago cancer and things were unheard of in men or women pretty much and if you take a look at their diets it was pretty well 75% meat.  Beef cattle were brought from the west to the cities by the millions and every night that was the main course to say the least.  How come the meat didn’t hurt us?  As I just said, years ago the beef cattle, were free range fed.  They ate nothing and mean nothing but good healthy free of chemical grass and things.  As the old saying goes, you are what you eat and that statement you can take to the bank.  Today our foods are so full of poisons, hormones, antibiotics, well to many to even comprehend, that it is no wonder why so many folks are fallin’ ill these days.  The hard thing to come to grips with is, it is almost impossible to get away from it and eat right.  The only way would be to find a farmer, that you know and can trust that doesn’t feed his beef with chemically treated feed or spray his crops.  If you can do that and have a butcher you can trust you are in business.  Then you go out and plant your own garden and you are all set.  Ones health will then come to them in abundance.  Also if your a hunter you have one step up on some folks, as there is no better food than directly from nature to your plate.  I know some say, hey, I can’t go out and eat something that was once running around free in the bush.  I say well it’s a matter of survival and we as one species high in the food chain has to do what he has to do, to stay fit.   Myself I prefer venison over beef and grouse or pheasant or quail over chicken or turkey.  It’s all in how you cook them.  Again cruel some say to the critters out there.  Well in some ways you are right, but remember this too.  That if you were to look at how our beef cattle, chickens or what ever in some places are being treated you would soon realize that my theory is not so bad.  Actually it is more humane if the truth be known.   So there you go my feelings on the subject.   My Opinion Only.

 

 

Alzheimer’s & What To Do

For many a years now I have always said that the more one uses the brain the less chance you will have of developing Alzheimer’s.   Stands to reason too, as the brain is made to think and if you ease off of your thinking or not giving it new things to do, it figures it isn’t needed, and well, problems arise.  My recommendation is writing poetry or cross word puzzles and things like that and do it every day for at least an hour or so, more if possible.  Also get outside and do things in the garden, get your mind to thinking about growing things and all the health benefits that goes along with gardening.   The more you make your mind work the better you are going to be and that is a fact.  I also believe though that you need to ease up on all the garbage food we are eating and start eating right. I can’t talk myself as being so busy all my life food came second on my list of good things to do. Now I have to pay the price a bit but I will say this, it is never to late to change your diet, as I am doing myself.   I see in the news today that the fix for Alzheimer’s is learning a different language like Italian, German or what ever.  In my mind living in Canada I suppose that would be a good thing but for myself I would think that my recommendations above would be more helpful.  But, hey to each their own, main thing is, do something, as when we get older the memories are there to be shared, not to be just let go and lost forever.  My Opinion Only.

 

 

This Is The Grapefruit Month

Well Folks.  This is the best time of year to get them juicy tasty grapefruit or oranges.  For years my wife and I went to Florida to my Dads cottage and once a week a trip would be in order to  head on out to visit the farmers.  There we would chat about things, being a farmer myself and after a visit bring with us a couple baskets of fresh tree picked grapefruit and some oranges. Once home every morning they would be cut open and put in front of us at the breakfast table.  I gotta’ tell ya, if you haven’t had tree picked fresh grapefruit you are sure missing out on one of life’s most tastiest fruits.  Not only do they taste good but they are good for ya.  So good that every one this time of year should be eating them daily for breakfast for at least two months.  I know some say, oh ya sure, how can we afford them.  I say well, even at a dollar apiece which is a touch pricey compared to if you lived in Florida, you still are getting more for your money if you think health wise.  Also don’t forget them Florida Oranges either, as this time of year they are just loaded with juice and so……………….sweet too.  I have one for a treat after supper instead of candy, or them things that is not so good for ya.  There you go, so the next time out shopping pick up a couple dozen and get into eating what one should be eating at this time of the year.  Your body will love you for it and so will your taste buds.  My Opinion Only

The Cancer Prevention Coalition today is drawing public attention to a two page article in the New York Times, “When Wrinkle-Free Clothing Also Means Formaldehyde Fumes,” published on December 10, 2010, which stated that “formaldehyde is commonly found in a broad range of consumer products.” These include sheets, pillow cases, and drapes, besides “personal care products like shampoos, lotions, and eye shadows.”

Good Old Bacon Versus Turkey Bacon

Pork bacon’s are no good the health folks say, but is turkey bacon really any better?

My advice is stick with the regular bacon. As far as calories go, the difference between “healthy” turkey bacon and regular bacon—and depending on the slice, turkey would tip the scales a wee bit more.  Also while turkey is indeed a leaner meat, turkey bacon isn’t made from 100 percent bird: One look at the ingredients list will show a long line of suspicious additives and extras that can’t possibly add anything of nutritional value. And finally, the sodium content of the turkey bacon is actually higher than what you’ll find in regular bacon—so if you’re worried about your blood pressure, or gaining weight stick with  the original.   Myself I have cut back on eating bacon, not that I don’t love it, as I do, just that to much of a good thing ends up not being so good. Moderation folks, is what we all have to learn, including myself.  My Opinion Only

Truth About Good Old Peanut Butter & Other Things

I have heard that some say that low fat peanut butter is good for you.  Better than the regular.  Let me tell ya in my eyes it is all a scam, folks trying to pick up some extra money using the low fat thing.  Don’t believe it not only for peanut butter but for most other items also.

In reality a tub of reduced-fat peanut butter indeed comes with a fraction less fat than the full-fat variety—they’re not lying about that. But what the food companies don’t tell you is that peanut oil—the fat in peanut butter—is a heart-healthy monounsaturated fat that can actually help fight weight gain, heart disease and diabetes.  This means you’re trading the healthy fat from peanuts for empty carbs, double the sugar, and a savings of a meager 10 calories.  Now the next time you go shopping, what are you going to do? Pick up all those low calorie items?  Or go back to what our body was intended to eat.  Food for thought.

Stopping GMOs is simply a numbers game. When enough shoppers stop buying GMO brands, the food industry will kick out all genetically modified (GM) ingredients. This happened in Europe, and it’s happening in the US with GM bovine growth hormone (rbGH).

Interesting items one should look at when it comes to our food we eat.

A sliced Carrot looks like the human eye. The pupil, iris and radiating lines look just like the human eye… And YES, science now shows carrots greatly enhance blood flow to and function of the eyes.

Watch Them Shopping Carts For Health

For many years and into today I have constantly told folks that every time one goes shopping as soon as you are back home, the first thing you should do is wash your hands with a good hand soap, I use good old Tide can’t be beat.  I never use antibacterial soap as that just makes things worse.  On route from shopping one should at the very least keep ones hands away from ones face. Shopping carts are gaining the reputation as one of the dirtiest and most germ-contaminated public items. The cart seats and handles have considerable more bacteria that even toilet seats and flush handles. Shoppers are blissfully unaware that bacteria and viruses, such as E. coli, staphylococcus, salmonella, and influenza, can live on grocery carts and their handles for three days. A study found at least 21 percent of the shopping cart seats tested contained bodily fluids, such as blood, mucus, saliva, fecal matter, and urine. Bacteria from these body fluids can be threatening, especially to those with frail immune systems and children.  So if you want to help yourself and family stay healthy wash your hands like your mother and father keeps tellin’ ya.  Well most mothers and fathers I should say as the world is changing from when I was young.  My opinion only.

Garlic For Health Folks One Clove A Day

For many years I have spoke out about how good garlic is for ones health.  Now in saying this I mean garlic grown here in Canada or the US.  The one I like the best has a bluish ting to it. Nice and tasty and can be eaten raw with a bit of cheese and should say raw is the only way to eat it.  I have a clove every night with my supper.  For health can’t be beat.  Tests have found raw garlic more powerful than even penicillin and tetracycline. This is without destroying the digestive intestinal flora, which pharmaceutical antibiotics do. It’s also effective for TB, high blood pressure and hundreds of other ailments. Also, unlike heavy pharmaceutical antibiotic use, garlic does not diminish the immune system. It actually enhances the immune system.

Garlic prevents cancer and contributes toward tumour shrinkage, especially stomach, colon, and breast and prostate cancers. The Russians have known this for decades. More recently, this has been formally recognised by Dr. John Pinto, Ph.D of the normally anti-alternative natural cancer remedy Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Institute.   So………………up to you.  My Opinion Only

Get Outside And Enjoy That Sunshine

What I been tellin’ ya for the past four years that sunshine is good for ya, not bad as the Powers That Be would like you to believe.  Listen to your body, it’s tellin’ ya it wants sunshine.it craves it and needs it to stay healthy.

Exposure to sunlight, we are often told, is dangerous and can lead to melanoma, also known as skin cancer. But a group of U.K. researchers recently published a report in the British Journal of Dermatology decrying the scare campaigns put out by government and cancer societies that warn against the supposed dangers of sun exposure. Contrary to popular belief, sun exposure can actually decrease the likelihood of developing malignant melanomas. Sam Shuster, one of the study researchers, and his colleagues are tired of hearing about the 84,000 “skin cancers” that appear each year from sun exposure, because almost all of them are harmless. Malignant melanomas are simply not caused by sun exposure, despite what the “experts” claim. In reality, malignant melanomas tend to shrink back from sun exposure, as do many other harmful cancers in the body.

But the myth that the sun causes malignant cancers continues to persist, even though it is patently false. Excess sun exposure, especially if you lack proper nutrients and fail to let your body grow accustomed to the sun, can cause harmful sunburns. But gradually and regularly exposing your skin to the sun without burning it will only help you, not hurt you.

Reckless Use Of Antibiotics

China’s profligate use of antibiotics in both medicine and agriculture is creating a grave threat to global health, scientists have warned.
Overuse of antibiotics encourages the evolution of antibiotic-resistant bacteria, also known as “superbugs,” which are far more dangerous than their antibiotic-sensitive relatives.

In addition, pharmacists regularly violate the law by selling antibiotics without prescriptions to those — including doctors — who wish to self-medicate. In an experiment by the Daily Telegraph, three out of five pharmacists questioned were willing to do so.
Combined with widespread agricultural use, these practices have turned China into an ideal breeding ground for antibiotic-resistant bacteria.
“Over just the last five years, for example, our studies show the rate antibiotic-resistant e. coli has quadrupled from 10 percent to 40 percent.”

Genetically Engineered Food

If there is one thing that stands out among the rest which we should be up in arms about is, Genetically Modified Food.  If we let this to continue we will be at the mearsy of every drug company in the world.  Not a good thing folks as if allowed to continue these Powers That Be will be able to control the food chain.  .  They can then inject the seeds with what ever they want you to eat.  Control of human beings.  That in my mind is what it is all about. Below is a few things that you should know but there is hundreds of other things too.  I will bring them to your attention as time goes by. Best thing you can do is not buy anything that has been modified.  You body will be glad you did.  My Opinion Only.

1. Genetically engineered food does not have to be labeled.
2. Most processed foods (boxed cereals, chips, cookies, frozen dinners, etc.) utilize corn, soy, canola and cottonseed oil which all have genetically modified ingredients.
3. High levels of pesticides are used in GMOs.
4. Use of antibiotics in GMO development – problem there being low-doses of antibiotics in foods make antibiotics less effective in humans. So when you realy need them they won’t work.
5. New intolerance to allergies – crossing plant genes bring on new strains of allergies in consumers.

So don’t be fooled folks, your the only ones that can make it all go away.

Broccoli & Tomatoes Has The Potential To Halt Most Cancers In Their Tracks.

Research has suggested cruciferous vegetables (which include broccoli, cauliflower, Brussels sprouts, kale and cabbage) have potent cancer-fighting properties. For example, there’s evidence now that broccoli sprouts can stop the colonization of Helicobacter pylori (H. pylori), a type of bacteria believed to trigger cases of stomach cancer as well as many ulcers.  Also tomaotes and brocccoli together in my eyes are the best protection that anyone could eat for most all cancers.  One bowl full twice a week is all that is required.  Now I been saying this for years just no one seems to listen.  But then again who am I just an old feller that has grown my own food for most my life.

World Health Organization Scandal, Hmmmm

You know I have come out and said what I think on the past H1N1 crisis, or so they called it, which I should say was nothing more than a ploy through my eyes, to make millions of dollars for the Pharmaceutical companies and others associated with them.  One has to remember though, they are there to make money, and, well, they sure are doing that.  For the good of humans health?  Well…….. that is yet to be decided by some.  For others we already know the answer to that.  Just the other day an article came out and thought I would post it for you to read.  Should open ones eyes, that is unless you don’t like knowing what is really happening out there in todays world.  Anyways, here it is take a look.  My Opinion Only.

A stunning new report reveals that top scientists who convinced the World Health Organization (WHO) to declare H1N1 a global pandemic held close financial ties to the drug companies that profited from the sale of those vaccines. This report, published in the British Medical Journal, exposes the hidden ties that drove WHO to declare a pandemic, resulting in billions of dollars in profits for vaccine manufacturers.

Several key advisors who urged WHO to declare a pandemic received direct financial compensation from the very same vaccine manufacturers who received a windfall of profits from the pandemic announcement. During all this, WHO refused to disclose any conflicts of interests between its top advisors and the drug companies who would financially benefit from its decisions.

All the kickbacks, in other words, were swept under the table and kept silent, and WHO somehow didn’t think it was important to let the world know that it was receiving policy advice from individuals who stood to make millions of dollars when a pandemic was declared.  Kind of makes you think doesn’t it.

Alzheimer’s & Prevention

Alzheimer’s is slowly progressing every day among our old.  For most parts they say there is nothing anyone can do.  The Powers That Be, that is.  Well for me I believe there is a cure out there for it, just that folks today aren’t doing things that need doing.  Below are three things that if done would pretty well eliminate this terrible thing called, Alzheimer’s.  The last one, number three should be looked at real close.  If you don’t use your brain it is going to just shut down.  Things one should and could be doing is, Puzzles, Writing Poems, Problem Solving, anything that makes the old mind work.  Not easy things either, as that is what the problem is today.  Folks don’t use their minds for anything, they rely on others to do it for them.  Not a good thing folks, so get that mind and body to working.  My Opinion Only

#2) Install a home water filter
Most municipal tap water systems are treated with chlorine, fluoride and other chemicals that harm your health. These chemicals are easily absorbed by your skin when you take a shower or drink unfiltered tap water. (Does anybody really do that anymore?) A whole-house activated carbon filtration system will remove most or all of these toxins from tap water. risk will be significantly reduced.

#3) Exercise regularly
By exercise, I’m talking about both physical and mental exercise. Physical exercise directly contributes to increased brain function because it reinforces neural connections in your brain, which in turn improves memory and learning capability. Mental exercises such as working on crossword puzzles will also help to keep your cognitive function in top shape. (Use it or lose it, folks!)

Help For Kidney Stones.

For those of you that have had a kidney stone, well………..you know what pain is.  Thankfully, there are natural ways to greatly reduce your risk of having this most common disorder of the urinary tract, by simply drinking lemonade.

Skip home-made or store bought lemonade if it’s loaded with sugar. Instead, sweeten lemonade to taste with healthier choices — honey or natural sugar.  Honey is what we use.  So there you go, can’t hurt to mix up a cool drink or two once or twice a week, sit back under your most favourite shade tree and enjoy.  Not only tastes good, but might save a whole lot of grief down the road a ways.  Remember, the store  stuff mixed, is no good, best would be real lemons, an squeeze your own.
