Morning Chat Dec 15/ 2020

Good Morning! It’s a sunny morning here in Port Loring, Ontario, Canada. There are a few clouds, but the sun is managing to show itself. Yesterday we had another 2 inches of snow, not enough to get my snowblower out. I will wait on that as it is very cold this morning with the temperature sitting at -18.6 C | -1.48 F. It’s the coldest morning so far this winter. Things were crunchy when I went out to put some wood in my shop stove. Highway 522 is bare and dry for most parts, with a few icy sections throughout. Travelling should be fair today other than putting up with the cold. It would be a good idea to put a heavy blanket in your car and keep your CAA number handy just in case. You never know what might happen in this part of the country. Yesterday I worked on a Christmas show for my podcast and will continue on with it today. It’s too cold to be outside today. I might bundle up and go for a quick walk around the paths I made on our property. For some exercise. I will see how ambitious I am later on. Other than that not much happening in and around town these days. Folks I suspect are getting ready for Christmas which isn’t that far off. It’s amazing how fast this year has gone by. With that I am off for a cup of tea with my lovely wife, and will then see what the day has in store. Life’s a mystery. Take care, stay safe and look after yourselves, family and friends. And most of all … stay out of the crowded stores and don’t have company come over. Talk on the phone or ?

Morning Chat Dec 11/2020

Good Morning!. It’s a cloudy day here in Port Loring, Ontario, Canada. We haven’t seen any sunshine now for around three days. The temperature though, has remained quite warm for this time of year sitting at 1.4 C | 34.52 F. It will start to cool down some as the day progresses’s. We also have a storm watch, for our area, and those around us, starting tomorrow. Snow will begin Saturday morning and last into Sunday. The heaviest snow is expected Saturday afternoon through Sunday morning. We can expect 10 to 25 cm or 4 to 10 Inches. I have no use for the metric system, as all that did was cost us a bundle of taxpayers’ money, along with other things I won’t get into. Highway 522 is bare and dry this morning and should remain that way for most of the day. I would think if you’re in need of some groceries, or? This would be the day to get them. For my wife and I we have all we need for a few weeks. Which is a good thing to have on hand in this neck of the woods. Yesterday I didn’t do too much. Taking it easy. I have been keeping my woodworking shop stove going though, as it is nice to go out there when it is nice and warm. It also makes it nice having all my equipment warm and ready to use when I feel the urge. LOL I suspect my snow blower will be getting another work out on Sunday when this storm is finished. With that I am off for my morning cup of tea with my lovely wife and will then see what the day has in store. You never know. “Stay safe, protect each other, Love each other… but I think it is best not to get together this year for Christmas,” If we all do that, things will be a lot better for everyone, after Christmas And Hey! It isn’t for ever.

Morning Chat Dec 4/2020

Good Morning! It’s a cloudy morning once again here in Port Loring, Ontario, Canada. We are having some rain mixed with a bit of ice at the moment. I don’t suspect it will amount to much and it should be a pretty nice weekend. Highway 522 is bare at this time, but there are some icy sections here and there, so care should be taken, if out and about. The temperature isn’t too bad neither for this time of year sitting at 1.4 C | 34.52 F. If the temperature drops a touch we could see around an inch of snow. As I said in other posts, I don’t suspect we will be having a real cold winter this year. We could see some snow though, but that all depends on how the storms track. At the moment they look as if they might by-pass us. Time will tell, as no one, not even the scientists really know what Mother Nature has in store. Now If you’re wondering, how these scientists really predict the weather. Read this bit of information below.

A Native American asked his chief about the coming winter.
“How bad will this winter be?” He asked.
“It is good to be prepared. Get some firewood ready” replied the chief.
The chief then called his friend in the national weather service to ask him. ” How bad will this winter be?”
The meteorologist said “this will be a pretty cold winter”
The chief then told his people what the meteorologist said. A few weeks later the chief called to ask again, just to be sure.
“Well,” said the meteorologist, “its gonna be worse than we thought this year.”
Again the chief relayed this to his people and told them to pile more firewood.
Right before the winter came, the chief called the meteorologist once more to ask, “how bad will this winter be?”
The meteorologist said “it’s gonna be worse than we thought”
The chief thanked the meteorologist and asked him “how do you get such accurate information?”
“Well, we have teams of scientists that study patterns to predict what the weather will be like. But we found that the most reliable method is
to just look at how much firewood the Native Americans have put away.”

I would have to say that is about right! LOL

On another note, I did do a wee bit of work in my woodworking shop yesterday. For one lone woodworker, I can sure make a mess. But … it is nice and clean, ready for the next project. And I do have some work to do, I just need to find the energy LOL. With that I am off for my morning cup of tea with my lovely wife, and will then see what develops for the rest of the day. Take care, stay safe and do what’s right for yourself, family … and friends.

Morning Chat Nov 29/2020

Good Morning! It’s a cloudy morning here in Port Loring, Ontario, Canada. The temperature is sitting at 2.9 C | 37.22 F. It won’t warm up that much more today. It will also remain cloudy along with a few lingering showers off and on. Tonight however things will cool down, and tomorrow we could see up to 3 inches of snow by the end of the day. But as I say. It is nearing the end of November, and so far we have been pretty lucky not having much snow. So with that in mind, I am thinking I will bring out my snowblower from my storage shed and get it running, just in case. I ordered a new set of snow tires from Kerry Booth’s Garage here in town, so I suspect he will be calling for me to bring my car down to have them installed in a day or so. Which will make things nicer this winter for picking up our groceries in North Bay. Great place to deal with. Highway 522 is bare and dry so far this morning. It should remain that way for most of the day. With that … I am off for my morning cup of tea with a scoop of chocolate, along with a muffin that my lovely wife made the other day. After that, I will see what the day has in store. Every day is a mystery. Stay safe and protect yourselves. Wearing a mask is the best thing you can do these days, when out and about. Listen to your instinct, not what others are trying to tell you.

Morning Chat Nov 25/2020

Good Morning! Well … it’s a snowy morning once again here in Port Loring, Ontario, Canada. I would say we had around three inches overnight. Not so bad, and with the temperatures rising as they are, it will melt fast. I did clean my deck off for the first time this morning, so I could get to my bird feeder. LOL Every morning the birds line up on my railings on the porch looking in … asking … where is the grub? LOL Seems that way anyways. The temperatures this morning was sitting at -1.4 C | 29.48 F. It will warm up a lot as the day progress’s, and will remain warm for the next 4 days. Kind of nice for this time of year. Highway 522 is bare and wet this morning, which will make travelling pretty good. Not that my wife and I have anywhere to go these days. But others might. Yesterday I finished off a Podcast I have been working on, and will get into another today. I enjoy doing them, and it seems a lot of folks enjoy listening to them … with all the reviews, phone calls and Emails I have been getting. Which … makes it all worthwhile. So with that, I am off for a cup of tea with my lovely wife and will add at touch of Nesquik to it, and maybe a piece of toast from some homemade bread my wife and I made yesterday. Yep you heard it right, that woman of mine put an apron on me … and told me to go to town. I made two loaves … so now we will see how they taste. LOL They will either be tasty, or … we will have two door-stops. LOL Have a great day, and stay safe. This virus is getting much worse.

Morning Chat Nov 23/2020

Good Morning! Well … we all woke up to a winter wonderland here in Port Loring, Ontario, Canada this morning. I do see though, that we aren’t alone, as a lot of other folks have had snow too. But in saying that it is a sign of what’s to come, and it is almost the end of November. To be honest … I thought we would have had snow before this. But I am not complaining, as I am not a great lover of snow. But it is nice to look at LOL. Highway 522 is wet with a bit of snow here and there, but for most parts it should be still okay to drive on with no issues. For Ruth and I we got everything we need, so we don’t have to go anywhere. Actually … Kerry our friend who owns a garage here in town, nice fellow … is going to put a set of snow tires on our vehicle shortly, which will be nice when we get a lot of snow. I kind of figured, since the tires on our car now, are getting a touch wore out … it’s time LOL. It seems there is always’s something to take a feller’s hard-earned money. At any rate, with the snow on the ground I will be working inside on some more Podcast’s today, which will keep me busy. It’s nice to be able to do what ever we want. With that … I am off for some French Toast for breakfast. I will change that to English Toast LOL, with a touch of syrup. After that I will have a cup of tea, with a touch of chocolate with my lovely wife, and I will then let the day do as so chooses. Take care, stay safe and look after yourselves and others.

Morning Chat Nov 22/2020

Good Morning! It’s a cloudy morning here in Port Loring, Ontario, Canada. The temperature is sitting at -2.4 C | 27.68 F. It won’t warm up too much more than it is now. We could though have some snow entering into the picture today and into tonight. Which could amount to 2 or 3 inches or so. It kind of depends on which direction the snow tracts. Highway 522 is bare and dry so far and quiet. Which is a good thing. Yesterday we went to town to pick up some more supplies, as I am thinking there will be some hard times ahead, with this virus. As it is getting worse every day. And stocking up a wee bit would be a good thing. Pays to think ahead. All my life I have always had a back up plan, which in turn paid off many times. While there we visited our son in the parking lot for a bit, It’s always nice to see him. It’s just to bad we couldn’t spend some more time with both our boys. But safety comes first. We are working on the issue though, as once we finish up this cottage we worked on all summer, they will then have a place to come to, for a visit. That way we can be together, but apart LOL. But that won’t happen till next spring. After we visited our son and picked up our groceries along with a few other things, we headed on home. I have to say it was a nice day for a drive. It should also be noted that groceries are sure getting expensive these days. Everyone is trying to make an extra dollar. I can’t say I blame some of them. But there are those that like to overcharge us hardworking folks. While in town we also saw that Walmart in North Bay is or was closed, as someone started a fire in the clothes section. I guess they were trying to make a point about something. I have to say, there are sure some idiots out there today. All that these kinds of folks do, is make things just that much harder. They say it takes all kinds to make up this world of ours. I say we could do without a bunch of them. With that I am off for my morning cup of coffee with my lovely wife, and will then get to working on another Podcast. I do have some great shows lined up for the coming months. Take care, say safe and do what’s right when it comes to your health, and others.

Morning Chat Nov 20/2020

Good Morning! It’s a cloudy day here in Port Loring, Ontario, Canada. We should see a wee bit of sunshine as the day progresses. I hope so, as it makes the day a lot nicer. You can’t beat the sunshine for getting folks outside wanting to breathe in some fresh air. At least in the country. LOL The temperature waking up isn’t to bad sitting at 9.1 C | 48.38 F. It will remain there for today. With all these clouds a feller is hesitant about getting out of bed. LOL Highway 522 is bare and dry this morning, along with hardly a car or truck moving around. Yesterday I worked all day on another Podcast and will do the same today. It’s nice to be able to work at home where it’s safe, dry and warm, with lots of food and coffee to drink. LOL Can’t beat that. On another note, we had a visitor at our bird feeder for the past few days, which was an old crow that hurt his wing. I would suspect it got hurt when we had that wind storm a few days ago. My wife and I fed him and things, and in about three days he was up and flying. Made us feel good seeing him get back to his old self. We enjoy watching the crows and other birds throughout the year. We feed them ever morning which keeps them coming back. With that I am off for some bacon and eggs and a cup of coffee with my lovely wife. I enjoy them every so often. They aren’t the healthiest things to eat, but in moderation, most everything is fine. Take care, stay safe, and do what’s right for you with this virus going around. It’s getting worse every day.

Morning Chat Nov 19/2020

Good Morning! Looking out my window here in Port Loring, Ontario, Canada the sun is shinning. But it is a touch cool with the temperature sitting at 3.3 C | 37.94 F. It will warm up some as the day moves forward and, remain somewhat warm tomorrow too. Kind of nice for this time of year. Highway 522 is bare and dry and the traffic has slowed down, now that hunting season is over for the year. I guess I should say … hunting deer with a gun is over, but bow season is still with us till Dec. Mostly locals that hunt with bows in our area. I did hunt with a bow for a couple of years, but didn’t like it that much, so sold it a couple of years ago to a fellow here in town. He said he had good luck with it. On another note my wife’s sor back and mine are on the mend, so we both are happy about that. Not nice not being able to do what you want. But … rest and exercise is the fix. Yesterday I worked on a new Podcast I have lined up and will continue working on it again today. Kind of nice being able to sit in where its warm. With that I am off for my morning cup of tea with my lovely wife. I think I will make it a green tea this morning with a touch of chocolate. Hmm, and maybe a raisin bun thrown in for good measure. LOL Take care, stay safe and do what’s right. Things are getting worse every day here in Ontario and across Canada. Why is that? Well … simply put, there are lot out there today that just doesn’t care.

Morning Chat Nov 17/2020

Good Morning! It’s a cool morning here in Port Loring, Ontario, Canada. The temperature waking up was sitting at -3.6 C | 25.52 F. It won’t warm up much more than it is at the time of this post. But we should see some sunshine later on in the day. Which will be nice. Tomorrow will remain cold, and then it will warm up somewhat for a couple of days, and then back to cold. But it is understandable, as we are crowding in on December. Actually for us, the weather has been quite nice so far this year. I have no complaints. But that will change, as I hate the cold LOL and winter is on our doorstep. Yesterday I kind of took it easy as did my wife. Today I will be getting back to working on some podcasts and stories that I have to get ready for different papers and such. My life is in transition mode you could say. From being outside, to being inside. Not that I am complaining mind ya, as I am not, it is a welcome change. I would get bored if things always stayed the same. LOL. Highway 522 is quiet these days which is a good thing. The fewer people moving around, the better it is with this virus in our midst. With that I am off for a raisin bun. One of ten we made yesterday. Along with a loaf of bread LOL. We made them a bit different this time, the old way. I am not sure if you can remember? But years ago the bread that was available, was either white or brown. Not all these other kinds we have today. And all the bread was made in an oven, not in a bread maker. And you know. I kind of liked the old brown bread. So …. we made some. I have to tell you … it sure is tasty. Take care my friends, stay safe, and do what’s right to protect yourself. We are closing in fast, on a vaccine that I am hoping … will bring things back to a somewhat normal lifestyle.

Morning Information Nov 15/2020

Good Morning! It is starting to be quite windy here in Port Loring, Ontario, Canada this morning. The temperature is sitting at 2.9 C | 37.22 F. It is raining and I suspect it will rain for most the day, then it could change to snow or freezing rain. I am thinking we will have a mixed bag of weather for today and into tomorrow. The reason for this is we are right on the line of freezing and not freezing. We could even see some power outages with the winds and more so if we get the freezing rain. The lights here in our home have been flickering for a while now. Which isn’t a good sign. But … it is a sign of what’s to come. So in all sincerity Nature does give us warning. Today if the power remains on … my wife and I will finish watching the Masters Golf Tournament. It would be a shame to miss the last day after watching it for three days. But nothing is for sure in life. I have found that out many times over the years. Highway 522 is slowing down some with the hunters out of the bush heading on back to the cities. Which in turn will make it really quiet around here for the next few months. I am okay with that. LOL Especially with this virus closing in on us. With that I am off for my morning cup of tea with my lovely wife and will then enjoy the day for what it is. It’s all in how you make it. Stay safe and do what’s right. Oh, and the power just went out and back on. Hmm.

Episode 47: Peashooters and Things

Episode 47: Hi folks today I have another story lined up for you, that I am thinking a lot will enjoy, and maybe a few, might even identify with what is being said. Also, once again, my thanks goes out to all those that have gotten in touch with me, letting me know how much they are enjoying my Podcasts. Means a lot. And if you enjoy my podcasts, share them with others, as hey! You never know, they might just put a smile on someone’s face. And with what is going on in this world today, we could all use that. Man … closing in on 50 Shows so far! Time sure flies by. With that … I hope you enjoy: “Peashooters and Things.

Morning Chat Nov 11/2020

Good Morning! It’s a cloudy morning here in Port Loring, Ontario, Canada. We had some strong winds all night long, and it’s still quite windy this morning. The temperature waking up was sitting at 12.1 C | 53.78 F. It won’t warm up much as the day moves forward. But in saying that we should see a wee bit of sunshine later on this morning. Highway 522 is still busy with folks moving east and west. Lots of hunters this year, more than normal. On another note my wife and I went to North Bay to pick up some groceries. It was a nice trip in with just a few showers on the way in. But on the way back we had sunshine. While there we noticed a lot of the younger ones not wearing a mask and congregating here and there. I can see why so many folks are being infected these days. Too bad too as it is unnecessary. The thing is we just need to hang in there for a couple more months till this vaccine makes its way into our society. But such is that. Human behaviour is and always has been a mystery. Today I have to go to the dump as things are piling up. After that I will wash the car one more time, as it is dirty from going to town yesterday. After that I will put my garden hose away for winter and relax. Then if it doesn’t rain in Atlanta Georgia tomorrow, my wife and I will be watching the Masters Golf Game. The weather though doesn’t look too good. But you never know. This year at the Masters there won’t be any fans with this virus going around, so that should be interesting. There won’t be too many cheers that we usually hear. With that I am off for my morning cup of coffee, and will then see what the day has in store. You never know. Take care, stay safe and do what’s right.

Morning Chat Nov 6/2020

Good Morning. It’s a foggy morning here in Port Loring, Ontario, Canada. The temperature at the time of this post was sitting 7.5 C | 45.5 F. Temperatures will rise as the day moves forward, and we should see some sunshine a bit later too. Knowing that I think I will wash our car and after that put my garden hose away in the basement for winter. After that if I feel up to it, I might put a coat of wax on the old feller. It should then be ready for winter, other than getting my brakes checked over by Kerry a very good friend of mine. He did do an oil change earlier, but this still needs to be done. He said he would do it sometime next week. So once that is done we should be all set. I should mention that Kerry or ‘Booths Garage here in Port Loring, is a great place to take your vehicle too, if it is in need of something. I highly recommend him. Highway 522 is bare and dry this morning. A few cars trucks and things moving from East to West. Mostly hunters and locals that are moving around. With that, I am off for my morning cup of coffee with my lovely wife and maybe a bowl of cereal. LOL Take care and stay safe. GW
