Good Morning Port Loring Feb. 2/2016

Good Morning.  Cold morning waking up here in Port Loring. Temperatures were sitting at -9.5 C | 14.9 F.   The sun is out in full force though, which makes things nice.

Forecast For Tuesday:  Fairly fine, possible snow early.

Snow Accumulations:  Nothing over night.

Highway Report: Highway 522 is pretty well bare and dry from Highway 11 – 69.  Traveling will be good, No reason to sit around the house today.

Fishing Times:  This morning the old weather stick along with gathered data is saying the best times to be out there will be from 7:00 AM – 10:00 AM.  Then once again a bit later on from 4:00 PM. – 6:00 PM.  Not the greatest day for fishing.  I give it a 2 fish rating out of 5 for catching a few.  Gets better later on in the week.  Good Luck!

Pain Related To Weather: Today the weather should help those suffering from joint pain and body aches.  Great day to get out for a walk and soak up some of that sunshine.  No Flu Shot Needed.  Enjoy your day.

Good Morning Port Loring Feb. 1/2016

Good Morning:  Nice looking day here in Port Loring Ontario.  Waking up temperatures were sitting at -2.1 C | 28.22 F.   Great day to soak up some sunshine and breath in some fresh northern air.  Do that and no Flu Shot Needed.

Forecast For Today:  Might see some sunshine early in the day with temperatures warming up only a couple degrees from what it is now.   Great looking day with the sun coming up in the east.  You know my wife and I enjoy the sun rises more than the sunsets.  We go out of our way to find places that we can set and watch it break into a new day.

Snow Report:  Had about one inch last night with a total of around 1  foot on the ground in total.   Lot of melting took place yesterday.

Fishing Report:  Well with hunting behind us I see folks out on the ice doing a bit of fishing.  Today the old weather stick along with gathered data taken from our very own weather station right here in Port Loring is saying that the best times to be out there with pole in hand will be from 9:30 AM – 11:30 AM.  Then once again from 3:00 PM – 6:30 PM.  Not the greatest day for fishing but in saying that I give it a 2 fish rating out of 5.  One just never knows.

Aches and Pains Due To Weather.  Today there is a risk that the weather could cause a few pains.  So care should be taken.   Colder weather will be back with us later on in the week which in turn will help fight off all them flu and cold germs that are being spread around.  If sick my friends stay home.  Then once better build up your immunities naturally.

Around Town:  Myself I just been getting things back in order after our trip to Florida.  Got some painting to do then will get on with making my Native American Flutes for the year.  I like to have around 50 or so on hand come summer.  My wife she is busy painting up a few items of choice which will also be available at her art studio come spring.  So, yep we are keeping busy.  Busy but not in the sense of the word of it being a chore, as it isn’t.  We are doing things we enjoy.  Huge difference.  No better place to do this than right here in Port Loring Ontario Canada.  Enjoy your day my friends.  GW

Good Morning

Well been awhile since my last post.  Made it home safe from Florida now enjoying nature in its best.  Florida is nice to say the least but so is Port Loring Ontario.  Temperatures today are quite balmy sitting at 4.6 C | 40.28 F.  Suppose to stay there in that range for two more days.  Okay by me. Gives the ice on my roof a chance to melt.  Today wife and I went for a nice long walk through nature.  As we try and do every day.  We have a nice spot half way and to just sit and listen is something in itself.   As I said to the wife while sitting there.  “What do you hear?”  “Nothing she said.”   “Isn’t it great?”  Sometimes in life, nothing is all that is needed.   Enjoy your day.   GW

Canadian Dollar

Low Canadian dollar means costs of fruits and veggies to rise.

So they say.  Well that is par for the course  taking into consideration that our Powers That Be has all but eliminated all our small farmers here in Canada.  On the bright side though it will be a plus to those that are still in the farming business here in Canada.  As the grocery stores will be forced to seek cheaper produce.  Which in turn can only be found here in Canada. Will this occurrence make for more farmers here at home?   I will have to think on that.  But in saying all this it is just one more reason to seek out a nice sunny spot on your own property and do some planting come spring.  If you do this you eliminate all of the above.  Have a good day.

All About Beer

Some facts that have been thrown to the way side.  All about Beer!

It keeps your heart healthy

It helps you live longer

It helps and in getting the energy you are made of flowing more freely.

It is an aid in the prevention of Alzheimer’s

It produces stronger bones

It can help in the prevention of type 2 diabetes

It is proven to help with stress and anxiety.

Hot beer served with a couple of teaspoons of honey makes for a great cold remedy.  According to reports the hops in the beer, when heated, help fight viral infections like the common cold. The active compound itself (humulone) could combat pneumonia and bronchitis-causing viruses. Hmm, not to sure on this one. Warm beer and me have never gotten along Ha Ha.

And one last biggie, Beer can protect against prostate cancer and breast cancer. Found in hops, the substance called xanthohumol blocks the excessive action of testosterone and estrogen. It also helps to prevent the release of a protein called PSA which encourages the spread of prostate cancer. Of course you should only drink beer within recommended limits – one to two pints a day for women, two to three pints for men.

In saying all this it has also been proven that some humans can’t drink, causes all kinds of problems, mentally wise which in turn can cause ailments of the body and grief to those around them. So care should be taken as with any medicine, including pharmaceutical drugs. Now, those that can, go get yourself a pint and enjoy.  Have a great day.

Dec 17/2015

Getting close to Christmas, only 8 more days.  Man where does time go.  Seems the younger I get the faster time moves forward.  I know some say old but I don’t like to think in that direction.  Over the years I have found if you think old, talk old, dress old, you become old.  Myself I prefer to think as I did when I was 25 or so.  Keeps me fit and alive.  With that my lovely wife and I were out the other day taking in an observation deck which looks out over the glades, which in turn lead towards the Gulf.  Took a bit of doing to get me up there being scared of heights,  but with the wife’s help I did make it up.  Surprised myself.  Took a few pictures which I will share below.  Also one of a couple friends bikes that we met while down here.  Nice folks.  Nice bikes too. Harley-Davidson’s of course.  Enjoy your day.   GW

Dec.16/2015 Post

Good morning well nice day here shaping up in Crystal River and surrounding areas.  Had a bit of rain yesterday but nothing that would slow a person down.  Today we will head on out to a place we found that has lots of trails and do some sight seeing along with getting a bit of exercise.  Then a few cool drinks are in order and soak up of that sunshine.  Got to store up enough to last the remainder of the winter when we arrive back home next month.  Sending along a few pictures of where we like to walk every morning.  It’s about a mile walk or so from one end and back.  Click to enlarge.  Have a great day.

Good Morning From Crystal River Florida

Super nice day shaping up here in Florida.  Just had an orange juice on the front porch now heading off on a new adventure.  Why?? Well, just because we can.  Yesterday wife and I went to watch the sunset on the Gulf so took some pictures.  Just a mile up the road from us.  Also a couple of some fishing boats heading out to check their nets.  Days End. Thought I would share.  Click pictures to enlarge.  Enjoy your day.

Good Morning From Crystal River Florida Dec 5/2015

Another nice day here waking up.  Temperatures were sitting at 65 F. Will warm up into the high 70s shortly.  Today w e will take in some country and visit a couple produce stands which occur along the main highways.  Lots to choose from which we like, especially the fresh tree ripened grapefruit.  Can’t beat them for taste.  After that will just let the day happen and see what it brings us.  Yesterday while out I took a couple of pictures of one of most favorite cars.  Used to own one many years ago.   Click Pictures below to enlarge.  Oldie but goodie. George’s Morning Post For Dec. 3/2015

Good Morning: Great day shaping up here in Crystal River Florida. Sun is burning off the morning mist as it does every morning.   Then some front porch sittin” will be in order.  Seems the outside draws a feller down here.  The smells also intrigue a fellow making one come alive.  Not sure if it is being so close to the Gulf with the salt water or the smells that arrives from the trees around us.  Probably a combination.   With that will head on off for my morning tea and let the day unfold around us.  Rough life down here.  But some one has to deal with it,  might as well be us.  I also added a few pictures below all self explanatory as you will see once you enlarge them.

George’s Afternoon Post

Well one beauty of a day here in Crystal River Florida.   Temperatures are sitting at 86 F.  Not to shabby.   Today we ventured out a ways taking in what was in the area.  Lots to see.  Going to take us a month to figure out where everything is.  But it is fun doing so.   Took a drive in a friend of ours car today to pick up some groceries.   Thought I would share a picture or two of that event.  Also snapped a picture or two of some eagles nesting on top of a pole.  Seems they like it up there, as I think every other pole had a nest on top.  Good view for sure.   With that heading off for a cool drink and let the day finish up around us.  IMG_7744 IMG_7616 IMG_7613

George’s Morning Post For Nov. 30/2015

Good morning from Inglis Florida. Really nice morning here waking up temperatures were sitting at 70 F.  Will rise quite rapidly shortly.  Once the sun is up warm temperatures are upon us.

Today we are going to head off to a park to see what they have to offer.  Yesterday we were on location for a TV show called The Bay at 9.  Did a live interveiw  all realting to my life , friends and where we live.  Put Port Loring on the map, we did.   After that carried on with our day.  Was a great day for sure.  But then….what day isn’t nice here in Florida.

Took a couple pictures which are below.  Click to enlarge.  With that heading off for my morning tea outside on our deck.   That is after our morning orange juice.  Enjoy your day and stay safe.
