Morning Chat Dec 30/2020

Good Morning. It’s a cloudy morning here in Port Loring, Ontario, Canada. Temperatures getting out of bed were sitting at -4.6 C | 23.72 F. We could see another 4 inches of snow today as the day progresses. Just what we need. LOL. We did have another 8 inches or so the day before yesterday. So we are climbing the chart for snow in our area. The temperature won’t rise much more than it is today. Highway 522 is snow covered with a lot of icy sections throughout. So if out and about care should be taken. But you all know that … right? On another note my wife and I went to North Bay yesterday to pick up our groceries. We pick up our groceries without going in the store itself, as we order what we want online. Works great and makes life a lot simple, without taking the chance in catching this virus. We then visited our son at his apartment, in his parking lot, dropped off a few things that his mother made for him, chatted a bit and then headed on home, having our lunch along the way with a cup of coffee. We also chatted most on the way home on the phone to him too. I think since this virus came we have chatted more to our boys than ever before. The weather was great too with lots of sunshine, and it sure was a beautiful sight with all the snow on the trees. We just took our time and enjoyed it. I figured it was going to snow again today, so that is why we decided on yesterday. Another great thing was we gave them new snow tires that our friend Kerry got for us and installed. You know … I worked for Uniroyal Tire Centres, as Service Manager back in the day for a while and I always swore how good their tires were. But these one we have now are just as good if not better. Hmm, at least something has improved with time. LOL Today I will work away here on another podcast, that I have been putting together. With that take care and stay safe. This virus is really spreading fast now with everyone shopping at Christmas. No one to blame but ourselves.

Morning Chat Dec 28/2020

Good Morning! I hope this Monday finds you well. Ruth and I are doing okay so far. Weather wise we are having more than our share of snow, so far this year. Last night we had another good 8 inches or so. And it is still coming down. Snow will probably continue this morning, but should slowly taper off as the morning progresses. The one good thing is the snowmobiles will be happy. And once the lakes freezes over it will be a snowmobile-rs paradise. LOL I am not into snowmobiles, but I do enjoy the snow if I don’t have to go anywhere. I am thinking we will be putting them new snow tires to good use, that my friend Kerry just put on our car. Highway 522 is snow covered with lots of icy sections throughout. Unless it is absolutely necessary I would say it is a good day to hunker down at home. That’s what we will be doing. We should see some sunshine tomorrow, which will make things gorgeous out there. Especially with all the snow hanging on the trees like it is. This morning I dug a path to my woodworking shop and fed my birds. Well … not my birds, but I have noticed they are friendly. LOL One chickadee comes to see me every morning when I put the feed into the feeder. Nice little feller. He isn’t scared of me neither, as he walks around my hand on the feeder. I have to admit my wife and I sure get a lot of enjoyment watching them every winter. Along with one black squirrel. My wife feeds him a piece of bread of every morning. I think though we will cut back a bit as he is getting fat. LOL With that I am off for my morning cup of tea and a muffin for breakfast with my lovely wife, and will then get to work on another podcast that I am putting together. Take care, stay safe and do what’s right with this virus among us. It’s going to get a lot worse in the coming days, caused from all the shoppers that wouldn’t stay home at Christmas.

Morning Chat Dec 27/2020

Good Morning! With Christmas behind us, we are now all starting to look at what 2021 will be. I am inclined to think that things will get a bit worse before it gets better. I know for a fact things will never be as it once was. It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to see that, even with these new vaccines in the works. Problems arise with getting everyone to have their two shots. Heck we can’t convince a lot of folks to even wear a mask, without getting them in for the vaccine. I have finally come to the conclusion, it isn’t about governments or any other institution for the mess we are in. The ones to blame, and I will say that again, the ones to blame … are the people themselves. Just because the stores, bars, churches and places like that were open, it didn’t mean it was okay that humans should go into them. We should have had enough sense to stay out of them places. No one, I will say it one more time is to blame but the people themselves. Actually most things I found that people are buying, they could do without. A lot of people today are spoiled rotten. It’s the same as a few doctors saying some surgeries can’t be done, and making a big deal out of it. I say probably half of the surgeries could be fixed by the people themselves. But hey who am I! People will be people, and I am afraid … given time, people will destroy themselves. Unless … they smarten up, but it sure doesn’t look like we are heading in that direction right now. Anyways … that is my rant for this morning. On another note Highway 522 is bare and dry this morning. The temperature isn’t all that bad neither sitting at -10.1 C | 13.82 F. Quite balmy out there. LOL Yesterday it took most of the day for my wife and I to clean up the snow we had. I would say we had around 8 to 10 inches of snow. More in some areas. Today I will take it a bit easy, maybe do a podcast that I have in mind. With that I am off for a bite to eat with my lovely wife and then will let the day do as it so chooses. You all take care, stay safe and do what is right.

Morning Chat Dec 26/2020

Hi Folks. How you all doing this morning? Good I hope. For my wife and I we are well, and truth be told we had a great Christmas. We spent it alone, with our boys staying at their home this year, which everyone should have done. We did however watch a movie together over the Internet, thanks to modern technology. Our boys being high tech set that up for us. We then had a real tasty turkey dinner that my lovely wife made, with all the trimmings, and then sat back and took things easy. What could be better than that? Not much. LOL On another note highway 522 is snow and ice covered for most parts this morning. Understandable with all the snow we had yesterday. In total, I would say we had around 8-10 inches or so. Of course there was more in drifts. Today we could have some flurries off and on by the looks of things, with the low-hanging clouds that is upon us now. The temperature has dropped substantially sitting at -12.7 C | 9.14 F this morning. It won’t warm up much more today than it is now. Today my wife and I will clean things up a bit, like our decks, around our car and the trails we have made throughout our property. That should give us the exercise that is needed for today. After that I suspect we both will be in need of a rest. LOL With that I am off for my morning cup of tea and a bowl of cereal, and then get to work. Take care, stay safe and do what’s right, like staying home … unless it is absolutely necessary that you have to go someplace. I am happy they shut things down, but it should have been done a lot sooner and longer.

Morning Chat Dec 22/2020

Good Morning! It’s a cloudy day here in Port Loring, Ontario, Canada. The good part is, it isn’t that cold with the temperature sitting at -4.6 C | 23.72 F. It won’t warm up much more today. And if we are lucky we could see some sunshine a bit later. Highway 522 is bare and dry this morning and should remain that way for most of the day. As of now it looks like we might have some more snow on Christmas day. Possibly 6 inches or so. Which will make it a white Christmas for many. Yesterday I worked on some things in the house here, and today will do much the same. On another note Christmas is closing in on us. And I see that they are going to close Ontario down for a few weeks because of this virus. My way of looking at it, they should have done that a couple of months or so ago. If they had, this virus wouldn’t be closing in at 3000 a day here in Ontario. They keep on saying that they are doing what is best for the Province and the people, and they won’t hesitate to do something once they have the scientific evidence. That is the biggest joke going, as the evidence is right in front of their faces. It all boils down to money and at the moment … it is what is running this country. Now don’t get me wrong, I am not blaming them as a whole, as the bottom line is, the people are the ones that is spreading it, as they aren’t staying home or doing what is right. Malls are full, churches are full, bars are full, restaurants are full and the large chain stores can hardly hold anymore. I believe that a lot of folks today don’t think for themselves, the powers that be tells them, the stores are open, and they believe it is safe to go to these stores, when it is not. Even taking precautions it’s not!! The thing is, we are so close now to making things right with the vaccines coming on board. But now that the people have made things worse, it is going to take a lot longer for us to get out of this mess. Simple as that. Well … that is my rant for this morning. And remember, all I said is my Opinion Only. Your entitled to yours. Take care and stay safe and do what’s right……… Stay home and stop going to these places. Talk to your family on the phone this Christmas. In doing so you might be saving their lives, or for that matter yours. Merry Christmas!

Morning Chat Dec 19/2020

Good Morning! It’s a cloudy morning here in Port Loring, Ontario Canada. The temperatures have risen considerably sitting at -2.5 C | 27.5 F this morning. I actually went for a walk this morning it being so nice. We could see about an inch of snow today and a bit more tonight. Highway 522 is bare and dry so far. Yesterday my wife and I went to North Bay to pick up our groceries and visit our son in his apartments parking lot. It was cold, so we didn’t chat to long. We chatted on the phone on the way home. LOL There is something to say about modern technology. Looking around … the Walmart parking lot as jammed pack with people doing everything they shouldn’t be doing. Not one person was standing outside waiting to get in, so that tells me they are all in the store. But it wasn’t just Walmart, all the stores were full of people too. I sometimes wonder where folks’ brains are located. At any rate, we will pay the price that is for certain. I heard that the folks that were cleaning up the Walmart in North Bay, after the fire came from the London area and five of them had the virus while working there, and visiting places in North Bay. So … that tells me we will be seeing more cases arise in the days ahead. After we picked up our groceries that were brought to our car, and seen our son for a few minutes, we headed on home. Actually, all in all, we had a great day. With that I am off for my morning cup of tea with my lovely wife, and will then let the day do as so chooses. Take care, stay safe and do what’s right.

Morning Chat Dec 17/2020

Good Morning! It’s a cold morning here in Port Loring, Ontario, Canada. The temperature getting out of bed was sitting at -20 C | -3 F. However the sun is shinning which makes a bit nicer. It will warm up as the day moves forward, but it will still feel mighty cold out there. It will warm up for the weekend though, which will make it a bit nicer for the snowmobiles’. But in saying that, with the machines they have nowadays, and the clothes they buy, they have it pretty good comparing it to what us folks had in the olden days. Most of us couldn’t afford a snowmobile for one thing. LOL Myself I had an old horse that took me for my ride in the bush. That is … when the snow wasn’t too deep. Highway 522 is bare and dry this morning and should remain that way for most of the day. There isn’t any snow in the forecast till the weekend. So that should make travelling good. Which you shouldn’t be doing, other than to pick up some groceries. I am sure that is why our numbers are crowding the 3000 a day mark of infections here in Ontario. I think we are in for some hard times and a lot more deaths. Even though we do have the vaccine. And it is all because some doesn’t want to wear a mask, or stay out of bars, churches, or large gatherings. Well … I am thinking they are going to pay the price. The problem is … they take a lot of others that are doing things right with them. Humans are supposed to be the smart ones of the species here on earth. I don’t believe that for one second anymore. On another note. I did get my shop stove stoked up, so things are nice and warm in there. I also lit my wood furnace, and it is also going nicely. It’s a great furnace! It only takes about four or five pieces of hardwood to keep this house of ours warm for most of the day. At night though, I switch back to oil. Why? Well … I am getting lazy and don’t want to get out of my warm bed through the night. LOL With that I am off for my morning cup of tea and a bowl of cereal with my lovely wife, and then will get to work on a podcast I am planning on doing. Take care, stay safe and do what’s right for yourself, family and friends. And if your going out there in our area, dress warm.

Baby it’s cold outside…..

.

Morning Chat Dec 16/2020

Good Morning! Cold morning here in Port Loring Ontario, Canada. The temperature was sitting at -16.1 C | 3.02 F. It will warm up a touch but not much as the day moves forward. Today we should see some sunshine once the clouds move out of our area. Highway 522 is bare and dry this morning with no new snow overnight. We do have around a foot on the ground at this time. And with these temperatures it isn’t melting. It will warm up a bit for the weekend, but then drop once again at the beginning of next week. And we could possibly see some more snow for the weekend too. This time of year in our area anything and everything is possible. The snowmobiles are starting to make an appearance with a few moving here and there. The lakes though aren’t froze solid enough yet for them to venture out. Yesterday I stayed in for most of the day other than walking to my woodworking shop to feed my old wood stove. I don’t mind as it gets me moving, along with some fresh air. Today I will be doing most the same and work away on another podcast. With that I am off for my morning cup of tea with my lovely wife and will then see what the day has in store. Keep warm, stay safe and look after yourselves, family and friends. Oh, I see they are starting to vaccinating some now for this virus, so that should help things in the future. Time will tell. The one they have now is 97% efficient, which is fantastic, considering. It’s amazing what can be done if enough money is put in the right places. LOL Now though we have to start doing these things right here in Canada … and stop relying on other countries. Have a good day.

Ontario reported a record 2,275 new cases of COVID-19 Tuesday

Morning Chat Dec 15/ 2020

Good Morning! It’s a sunny morning here in Port Loring, Ontario, Canada. There are a few clouds, but the sun is managing to show itself. Yesterday we had another 2 inches of snow, not enough to get my snowblower out. I will wait on that as it is very cold this morning with the temperature sitting at -18.6 C | -1.48 F. It’s the coldest morning so far this winter. Things were crunchy when I went out to put some wood in my shop stove. Highway 522 is bare and dry for most parts, with a few icy sections throughout. Travelling should be fair today other than putting up with the cold. It would be a good idea to put a heavy blanket in your car and keep your CAA number handy just in case. You never know what might happen in this part of the country. Yesterday I worked on a Christmas show for my podcast and will continue on with it today. It’s too cold to be outside today. I might bundle up and go for a quick walk around the paths I made on our property. For some exercise. I will see how ambitious I am later on. Other than that not much happening in and around town these days. Folks I suspect are getting ready for Christmas which isn’t that far off. It’s amazing how fast this year has gone by. With that I am off for a cup of tea with my lovely wife, and will then see what the day has in store. Life’s a mystery. Take care, stay safe and look after yourselves, family and friends. And most of all … stay out of the crowded stores and don’t have company come over. Talk on the phone or ?

Morning Chat Dec 14/2020

Good Morning! It looks like the heavy snow has passed us by for now, here in Port Loring, Ontario, Canada. We did however have around 10 inches or so in the last two days. I have to admit my wife and I did have a work out. But it does keep us fit if we don’t over do things. It is easier on me this year having my friend Kerry Booth clean our driveway for us. We have done it for years but are finding it is just too much for us now. So the answer to that is. “Get some help.” LOL Which we did. We still have lots to do though, along with helping our neighbour who is in her 90s. Highway 522 was bare this morning, but now we are getting some more snow and the highway is covered once again. And along with that there are icy sections on the turns and places where care should be taken. Yesterday my lovely wife and I cleaned up our snow, which took most of the day and today we will take it a bit easy. Give ourselves some rest. I might work on a podcast that I have in the works. I will see if the urge hits. With that I am off for a bowl of cereal and then will let the day do as it so chooses. Take care, stay safe and do what’s right to protect yourself, family and friends.

Morning Chat Dec 12/2020

Hi Folks. It’s another cloudy morning here in Port Loring, Ontario, Canada. We are also having a bit of snow which will continue all day, tonight and into tomorrow. We can expect around 15 to 25 cm or near 10 inches of snow this weekend. Snow will begin this morning, but the heaviest snow is expected in the afternoon and evening hours when snowfall rates of 2 to 3 cm per hour will be possible. Gusty northeast winds to 60 km/h will combine with fresh snow to create blowing and drifting snow, particularly in exposed areas. For areas near and south of North Bay, freezing rain is also a possibility tonight. So … knowing that I would think it would be a good day to stay home, and hey! Maybe put up your Christmas tree, that is if you haven’t already. That is what my wife is going to do today at our home. The temperature is hovering around -2.4 C | 27.68 F. Cooler than it was yesterday, but still not too bad for this time of year. Highway 522 is slowly getting a cover of snow, and I suspect it will get much worse as the day moves forward with this storm in our midst. Today I will take it a bit easy, Not feeling the greatest. So with that I am off for a cup of tea with my lovely wife, and will then enjoy the day for what it is. Take care, Stay Safe and do what’s necessary to protect yourself, family and friends with this virus. GW

Morning Chat Dec 11/2020

Good Morning!. It’s a cloudy day here in Port Loring, Ontario, Canada. We haven’t seen any sunshine now for around three days. The temperature though, has remained quite warm for this time of year sitting at 1.4 C | 34.52 F. It will start to cool down some as the day progresses’s. We also have a storm watch, for our area, and those around us, starting tomorrow. Snow will begin Saturday morning and last into Sunday. The heaviest snow is expected Saturday afternoon through Sunday morning. We can expect 10 to 25 cm or 4 to 10 Inches. I have no use for the metric system, as all that did was cost us a bundle of taxpayers’ money, along with other things I won’t get into. Highway 522 is bare and dry this morning and should remain that way for most of the day. I would think if you’re in need of some groceries, or? This would be the day to get them. For my wife and I we have all we need for a few weeks. Which is a good thing to have on hand in this neck of the woods. Yesterday I didn’t do too much. Taking it easy. I have been keeping my woodworking shop stove going though, as it is nice to go out there when it is nice and warm. It also makes it nice having all my equipment warm and ready to use when I feel the urge. LOL I suspect my snow blower will be getting another work out on Sunday when this storm is finished. With that I am off for my morning cup of tea with my lovely wife and will then see what the day has in store. You never know. “Stay safe, protect each other, Love each other… but I think it is best not to get together this year for Christmas,” If we all do that, things will be a lot better for everyone, after Christmas And Hey! It isn’t for ever.

Morning Chat Dec 8/2020

Good Morning!. It’s a bit cloudy here in Port Loring, Ontario this morning. We should see some sunshine later on this morning. Yesterday after the clouds moved out of the area, we had a really nice day. I took advantage of it and brought a couple of wheelbarrow loads of dry pine I have in my bush for the shop stove. I don’t like burning up my nice dry hardwood, I save that for the wood furnace in the house. I then dug out a nice chopping blog I had lying around by the wood pile, which I planned on doing now for the past year or so. It never ceases to amaze me, how you know you should do something, but you never do it. The chopping block raises the wood up so you can split it easier, and it also is easier on the old back. LOL I then did a bit of work in the woodworking shop and later on in the day I did some work on a podcast I have on the go. There is always something to do. This morning I will do some more work in my shop, and then take it a bit easy in the afternoon. Highway 522 is bare and dry this morning so that will make it nice for travelling. My wife and I don’t have to go anywhere for a couple of weeks, other than the post office. Which makes it nice as that way we don’t have to be around folks we don’t know. Best to be safe, then sorry with this virus among us. Other than that, not much happening in our small community these days. Now I am off for my morning cup of tea with my lovely wife and will then see what the day has in store. I just make the plans, the results … who knows. Take care, stay safe and do what’s right for yourself, family and friends. We are getting closer every day to the vaccine that hopefully starts to put an end to this mess we have been in for the past few months.

Morning Chat Dec 7/2020

Good Morning! It’s another cloudy day starting things off here in Port Loring, Ontario Canada. We did have some sunshine later on in the day yesterday, and I suspect it will be about the same today. It is cold outside with the temperature sitting at -8.5 C | 16.7 F. It should warm up a wee bit as the day moves forward. Not much though, but if we do get some sunshine it will make it feel a lot nicer than it is. LOL. Highway 522 is bare and dry this morning for most parts. There are some icy sections here and there … most, as I keep on saying going around the curves. You would think that would be the place they salt the most. LOL On another note my lovely wife put up some decorations outside and inside for Christmas. I have to say they do look nice, and they do get you in the spirit of Christmas. You know … I have been hearing a lot of folks saying that Christmas won’t be Christmas this year with this virus. Yes … that will be true for all those that have lost family members and friends. But Christmas in itself hasn’t changed. Not one bit. We all have exactly what we had last year, other than maybe doing a bit of shopping in the malls and visiting a wee bit. For my wife and I, even though we can’t see our boys, we are not going to let it get us down, not by a long shot. We will still have our Christmas tree, turkey dinner with all the trimmings and to top things off, we will be all watching our favourite movie National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation with Chevy Chase. My wife and I along with our boys have been watching that movie every Christmas since it came out. Kind of a tradition around here. It will however be a touch different this year though as we can’t be together totally. So what we will be doing is using our laptop along with the phone … setting them up, so we can all be chatting together watching the movie at the same time. Everything will be the same but different. My old Dad always told me when something isn’t right, make it right. That is what that thing is on your shoulders is for. LOL I miss that old feller. At any rate that is what we are going to do. Every day is what you make it. If you let this virus get the better of you … it will. My family and I choose not to let that happen. Where there is a will there is a way of doing things, no matter what. With that, I am off for my cup of tea with my lovely wife and will then see what our day has to offer. As I always say every day is like a mystery novel. You just never know what the ending will be. “Stay safe, protect each other, love each other… but don’t get together this Christmas,”

Morning Chat Dec 6/2020

Good Morning! It’s a cloudy cold morning here in Port Loring, Ontario, Canada. The temperature was sitting at -7.9 C | 17.78 F. It will warm up but not much as the day moves forward. The good part is we should see some sunshine later on today, tomorrow and the next day. That will be a welcome change. It seems no matter how cold it is, if the sun is shinning everything is better. Highway 522 is bare and dry for most parts. There are some icy sections here and there, so care should be taken on the curves. On another note my wife and I went to North Bay yesterday to pick up some groceries we order online. That way we don’t have to go into the stores. It was a nice trip in and back home. It’s good to get out once in a while and breathe some new air. While there we visited our son from the parking lot at his apartment, dropped him off a few homemade dinners his Mother made for him, and then drove around a bit, just to take in what others are doing, virus wise. And from what I see it’s not good, as the parking lots around the stores were full, along with the stores. It was actually hard to find a parking spot to eat our lunch that my wife made for us before we left. I am not sure where folks minds are these days, as with shopping online and curb side pick- up what more could you ask for? Bars and restaurants that are allowing folks inside in my mind is a bad thing. I say if you have to eat, get take out. If you want a damn beer, pick up a case and go home and enjoy it. Heck!! You can buy a case of six for the price you pay for one or two, at a bar or restaurant. And the thing is we are so close to having a vaccine. Just one more month. If it was up to me, I would close everything down completely for two months. Airports, churches, you name it. Leaving only the stores open we need to survive. To me the help we need right now, is right in front of us, but a lot of people just don’t give a damn, and they will keep on thinking that way, until they are made to do what’s right. The powers that be, should have nipped in the butt in the very beginning and stuck to their guns. If they had done that, it would have become a part of our life like some other countries. It wouldn’t have been nice, but we would have gotten by saving a lot of people from dying. Anyways, that is my rant for this morning. LOL With that I am off for my morning cup of tea with my lovely wife, and will then get to doing some woodworking, in my shop today. Take care, stay safe and do what’s right, to ease this virus from spreading.

Morning Chat Dec 4/2020

Good Morning! It’s a cloudy morning once again here in Port Loring, Ontario, Canada. We are having some rain mixed with a bit of ice at the moment. I don’t suspect it will amount to much and it should be a pretty nice weekend. Highway 522 is bare at this time, but there are some icy sections here and there, so care should be taken, if out and about. The temperature isn’t too bad neither for this time of year sitting at 1.4 C | 34.52 F. If the temperature drops a touch we could see around an inch of snow. As I said in other posts, I don’t suspect we will be having a real cold winter this year. We could see some snow though, but that all depends on how the storms track. At the moment they look as if they might by-pass us. Time will tell, as no one, not even the scientists really know what Mother Nature has in store. Now If you’re wondering, how these scientists really predict the weather. Read this bit of information below.

A Native American asked his chief about the coming winter.
“How bad will this winter be?” He asked.
“It is good to be prepared. Get some firewood ready” replied the chief.
The chief then called his friend in the national weather service to ask him. ” How bad will this winter be?”
The meteorologist said “this will be a pretty cold winter”
The chief then told his people what the meteorologist said. A few weeks later the chief called to ask again, just to be sure.
“Well,” said the meteorologist, “its gonna be worse than we thought this year.”
Again the chief relayed this to his people and told them to pile more firewood.
Right before the winter came, the chief called the meteorologist once more to ask, “how bad will this winter be?”
The meteorologist said “it’s gonna be worse than we thought”
The chief thanked the meteorologist and asked him “how do you get such accurate information?”
“Well, we have teams of scientists that study patterns to predict what the weather will be like. But we found that the most reliable method is
to just look at how much firewood the Native Americans have put away.”

I would have to say that is about right! LOL

On another note, I did do a wee bit of work in my woodworking shop yesterday. For one lone woodworker, I can sure make a mess. But … it is nice and clean, ready for the next project. And I do have some work to do, I just need to find the energy LOL. With that I am off for my morning cup of tea with my lovely wife, and will then see what develops for the rest of the day. Take care, stay safe and do what’s right for yourself, family … and friends.

Morning Chat Dec 3/2020

Good Morning! It’s a cloudy morning here in Port Loring, Ontario, Canada. Temperatures though aren’t as cold as they were yesterday and with the clouds being like they are, I am thinking we might have a few flurries off and on today. Tomorrow will probably be the same. We did have a pile of snow yesterday, that’s for sure. I asked Kerry Booth this year to clean my driveway, that way it will be a bit easier for my wife and I. We actually have enough to clean up with the decks, parking lot, the snow behind our car and going into the shop. I also make some trails around a piece of our property so the wife and I can walk throughout the winter months to keep fit. Make it nice. Highway 522 is bare and wet this morning so travelling will be fair, but care should be taken as there are icy sections on some curves. Yesterday Kerry installed my new snow tires, so that should be a great help this winter keeping us out of the ditch. LOL My old ones were getting a touch wore down. They are okay for summer but with the snow and ice we get in our area we will feel a lot safer with the new ones. As they say … all it takes is money. But not complaining. Kerry is a good fellow and gives a person a fair price on things. Hard to find these days. Today I will take it a bit easy, my old back is acting up somewhat. Not sure why, it was fine all day yesterday and the week before. Does that sometimes. Sign of getting old I suspect. LOL With that I am off for my morning cup of tea with my lovely wife and will then get back into making a new podcast or two. I enjoy doing them and the fringe benefit is they keep the mind fit. Oh, first we have to help the lady next door, she is up in years, and she hasn’t a place to put her car out of the weather. So it needs some cleaning all around it, so she can use it. With that, take care and stay safe the virus is getting stronger than ever.

Morning Chat Dec 2/2020

Good Morning! It’s quite a change, weather wise here in Port Loring Ontario, Canada. Yesterday windy with heavy snow, and today sunshine. But it is much cooler with the temperature sitting at -8 C | 17.6 F. The sun should remain with is for most of the day. Over all, we had around a foot of snow in the past two days. Kind of pretty out there this morning. It’s amazing how Mother Nature can be so miserable, and then become so nice. I guess it is something like us humans in one respect. Crazy mixed up world we live in. Highway 522 is snow covered and I suspect will remain that way for most the day. More snow is on the way for late Thursday and Friday around another 2 inches or so. With that I am off for my morning cup of tea and a bite to eat, and then will see what the day has in store. Other than moving snow that is. Take care and stay safe.

Morning Chat Dec 1/2020

Good Morning. Dec 1/2020 here in Port Loring, Ontario, Canada and elsewhere. I’t sure been quite a year. This morning we all woke up to around 5 inches of snow in our sleepy community. It is still snowing and will continue with more snow all day and into tomorrow. Which in turn, at the end of things will be a great amount. The temperature is sitting at -3.8 C | 25.16 F. I don’t think my wife and I will be going anywhere. The wind is supposed to pick up too as the day moves forward, which will bring a lot of drifting. Highway 522 is covered completely. I haven’t seen the plow as yet this morning. I did hear them going up and down the highway through the night a couple of times. Yesterday I lit my shop stove, so it is warm in there, which will make my equipment run better if need be. I like to keep it going in the snowy cold days. Today I suspect I will stay inside where it’s warm and work on a podcast or two. With that I am off for a cup of tea with my lovely wife, and will then see what the day has in store once again. Take care, and stay safe. The one good thing about this storm we’re having right now. People stay home.

Morning Chat Nov 30/2020

Good Morning! It’s another cloudy morning here in Port Loring, Ontario Canada, Along with that we are also getting some rain. It’s not that cold yet with the temperature sitting at 3.6 C | 38.48 F. It won’t warm up much more today. Things are about to change though, as we will be getting some snow, which will be heavy at times, and then blowing snow will begin tonight or Tuesday morning and continue into Wednesday. We could see about 15 to 30 cm or around 11 inches or so before things ease off Wednesday afternoon or evening.
On top of all the snow we could see some wind gusts up to 70 km/h – 80 KM/h which will cause some blowing snow to occur Tuesday and Tuesday night. So I am thinking travelling won’t be too good for the next few days. As of now Highway 522 is bare and wet. On another note I did get my snowblower out this morning and working along with bringing in some firewood for the shop and lit it. So it will be nice and toasty in there, keeping things warm in case they are needed. Like the Generator, chain saw, things like that, and … my snowblower starts easier when warm. Today I will clean up my shop some since it is nice and warm out there and then will work on another podcast. With that I am off for my morning cup of tea with my lovely wife, and will then see what the day has in store. You never know. Take care, and stay safe.
